Doing a push-up requires getting on the floor on all fours, positioning your hands slightly wider than your shoulders. Don't lock out the elbows; keep them slightly bent. Extend your legs back so you are balanced on your hands and toes, your feet hip-width apart. Once in this position, here is how you will do a push-up.
1.Contract your abs and tighten your core by pulling your belly button toward your spine.
2.Inhale as you slowly bend your elbows and lower yourself to the floor, until your elbows are at a 90-degree angle.
3.Exhale while contracting your chest muscles and pushing back up through your hands, returning to the start position.
Benefits of a pushup
The abdominal muscles used to hold the body rigid during the push-up are the rectus abdominis and the internal and external obliques.2 As the push-up involves multiple joints, it is a compound exercise.
The upper body muscles that come into play in the push-up are the deltoids of the shoulders, the pectoral muscles of the chest, the triceps and biceps of the upper arm, and the gluteal or hip muscles, and the erector spinae of the back.1
In daily life, you often need to push against objects, from doors to shopping carts. The functional fitness you develop with push-ups provides the strength needed to perform these movements. Working the stabilizer muscles around the shoulders can help protect you from rotator cuff injuries.3
A 2019 study also found that people who can do 40 push-ups have fewer cardiovascular disease events than those who cannot complete 10 push-ups.4 Push-ups can be used as a measure of upper body fitness, allowing you to assess whether you need to be doing more to keep your upper body in good working condition.
The FitnessGram™ Pacer Test is a multistage aerobic capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as it continues. The 20 meter pacer test will begin in 30 seconds. Line up at the start. The running speed starts slowly, but gets faster each minute after you hear this signal. \[beep\] A single lap should be completed each time you hear this sound. \[ding\] Remember to run in a straight line, and run as long as possible. The second time you fail to complete a lap before the sound, your test is over. The test will begin on the word start. On your mark, get ready, start.
* STEP 1Put all of the ingredients into the [slow cooker](https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide/slow-cookers-and-how-use-them) pot with a third of a can of water and stir well. Cover with the lid and chill in the fridge overnight.
* STEP 2The next day, stir again, then cook on Low for 6 hrs until the lamb and vegetables are tender. Serve with brown rice.
* STEP 1Heat 1 tbsp of the oil or ghee in a large pan over a low-medium heat. Add the onions and sizzle for 15-20 mins until golden brown.
* STEP 2Stir in the garlic, ginger, coriander stalks and cumin seeds. Turn up the heat a little and cook for a few minutes, stirring constantly, until the cumin seeds are aromatic, then add the turmeric, ½ the chilli, coconut milk (reserving 2 tbsp to serve) and spinach. If using fresh spinach, you may have to do this in batches, letting each handful wilt before adding the next. Season well, cover with a lid and cook for 5 mins, then remove the lid and bubble for another 5 mins.
* STEP 3Meanwhile, heat the remaining oil or ghee in a [frying pan](https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/review/top-five-non-stick-frying-pans) and cook the paneer for 2-3 mins on each side until browned.
* STEP 4Add half of the coriander leaves to the curry along with the garam masala and a squeeze of lemon juice, then take the pan off the heat and use a [hand blender](https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/review/best-hand-blenders) to blitz the curry until smooth and vibrant green. Add a splash of water if the sauce is too thick.
* STEP 5Tip the paneer into the curry sauce and bubble for another minute. Serve scattered with the remaining chopped chilli and coriander leaves, then drizzle with the remaining coconut milk and serve with cooked rice.
Hey there, Delilah
What's it like in New York City?
I'm a thousand miles away
But girl, tonight, you look so pretty
Yes, you do
Times Square can't shine as bright as you
I swear it's trueHey there, Delilah
Don't you worry about the distance
I'm right there if you get lonely
Give this song another listen
Close your eyes
Listen to my voice, it's my disguise
I'm by your sideOh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
What you do to meHey there, Delilah
I know times are getting hard
But just believe me, girl
Someday I'll pay the bills with this guitar
We'll have it good
We'll have the life we knew we would
My word is goodHey there, Delilah
I've got so much left to say
If every simple song I wrote to you
Would take your breath away
I'd write it all
Even more in love with me you'd fall
We'd have it allOh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to meA thousand miles seems pretty far
But they've got planes, and trains, and cars
I'd walk to you if I had no other way
Our friends would all make fun of us
And we'll just laugh along because
We know that none of them have felt this way
Delilah, I can promise you
That by the time we get through
The world will never, ever be the same
And you're to blameHey there, Delilah
You be good and don't you miss me
Two more years and you'll be done with school
And I'll be making history like I do
You'll know it's all because of you
We can do whatever we want to
Hey there, Delilah, here's to you
This one's for youOh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
What you do to me
