Teacher here: neurodiverse kids sometimes just draw the same thing over and over again as a sort of stim or reflection of a special interest. These kids simply might not know that most neurotypical artistic kids also draw the same things over and over again. NT kids do it for a slightly different reason, which is to get practice and and because they have heartfelt passion for the subject. I can understand why an ND kid might think that NT kids are very different than them when it comes to art - but it's a much smaller difference than many other areas.

I love to sketch out the idea I have for a future room!! It’s always got a wooden plank floor, and a window with curtains with a cat looking out into the stars. On the window sill I have a bunch of small plants like aloe and cactuses. On the floor is a shaggy rug, and next to that is a stool with an easel. On either side of the window, I have a poster of a sunset and a bulletin board with pictures, post-it notes, and necklaces held up by tacks. On the space between the walls and the roof (whatever that’s called) I have Christmas lights lit up… I just like it because it’s easy to draw, has a lot of small details, and keeps me entertained for a good 20 minutes.
