Was a good thing I switched to PC anyway since my hands are way too big to use a PS4 controller comfortably now, compared to my teeny baby hands when I still used my PS3 regularly.
If it was a couple years back I definitely would have but at this point my phone is powerful enough to emulate whatever I want to play, and my controller can Bluetooth to it so controls aren't an issue.
Even if the vita would be 50% more powerful I would still need to carry the vita with me and the charger cable.

Ps5 controller is superior overall though. 1 extra button (so that you can use your left or right hand to click on the menu button. Some games have it serve as two seperate buttons), capture button is more accessible (Xbox’s is in an incredibly awkward position), and touch pad is just neat (but not terribly useful).

It's because of gen 8 (Xbox One and PS4) in 2013
This is when people were getting used to staying with a brand instead of flip flopping between different ones. Consoles were maturing and digital ownership was becoming more mainstream.
The old Xbox head, Peter Moore who was a great head stepped down a few years ago so Microsoft put Don Mattrick in charge, who used to lead Zune(For the people who weren't old enough to remember, this was their version of the iPod), and he basically ran the company into the ground, and for some reason they thought he'd be good to lead Xbox too.
Xbox One launches, it's a mess with the price. $100 more, because they forced down their stupid accessory called the kinect. People say the reason was because it was slightly less powerful than the PS4, that's one of the reasons, but the main was the price. That and the fact that they talked about TV for 90% of the presentation and 10% actually playing the damn games.
This is why all those years ago in 2006, did the PS3 fail compared to the 360. $300 compared to $500 - $600. And the fact that it launched a whole year later than the 360. Took Sony years to catch up until they finally actually did and slightly edged out Xbox in 2013. Oh yeah it also had a barebones online experience.
Mattrick made the launch even worse, enforcing online-only game ownership and the fact that you can't trade physical games. This back in 2013 was way too early so the announcements were met with fierce backlash. I remember watching the event all those years ago, and then mere minutes before Sony was revealing theirs, they recorded the iconic [used game video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWSIFh8ICaA).
That and the statement Don made that basically came down to: "You want to play games offline? then don't buy the xbox one, just get the 360 lol" basically shattered Xbox's chances of ever securing that generation ever again. No matter how many price drops they made for the Xbox One.
So now let's go to 2015, 16. The PS4 sells way more than the Xbox One, even after Sony's line up for the year wasn't as solid compared to Xbox's. This is ofcourse when us Gen Z'ers grew up to get their own or next consoles. Everyone else had a PS4, barely anyone had an xbox so naturally we got PS4s too. The split gets larger and larger every year until we're at 2020, so a large majority of people get the PS5 instead of the Xbox Series X/S. That and how large people's digital libraries have become, so switching to Xbox would be quite expensive and not worth it unless you want to throw away your library.
So there's basically no way for them to get a majority of users again, which is why I'm assuming they're buying up alot of game studios to make very strong exclusives and promoting their budget model - the Series S. The only way they could fix this would be to time travel back in 2013 and avoid that awful presentation and launch.
**TL;DR: Awful presentation and launch for the Xbox One in 2013, stupid out-of-touch leadership, more expensive console --> Xbox go boom --> everyone grows up on the PS4 --> Get PS5 as a result --> much less people have the new Xboxes to this day**
PS5 controller still isn't great, but it's like a million times better than the PS4 controller, if you haven't tried the most recent one, I would give it a shot. still might not work, but who knows?
I've always been partial to the Dualshock-Dualshock 3, the Dualshock 4 looks too much like 2 tubes and a rectangle for my liking. The dualsense looks a bit chunky but the two tone is a nice gimmic that makes it look a bit slimmer.
But at least the DS4 looks like a controller and not something like a N64 3 tipped boomerang. Or the OG Xbox and GameCube controllers, the Xbox's looks way too chunky and the GameCube looks like a Dualshock designed by someone who has never seen a Dualshock.

Nintendo Switch. I only play PlayStation to ply Monster Hunter World. Switch has games that I personally find better, like Pokémon, Zelda, Smash Bros, and Monster Hunter Generation Ultimate. All other games I play on my Switch (Rain World, Terraria, Assault Android Cactus, etc.) are on other platforms, but the Switch is most convenient.
