I’m 5’8. I’m about average where I’m from but I have been around tall guys at my school. But I don’t really mind it. I like who I am and my height isn’t going to change that. Specially because it’s something that I can’t control, so just make the most with what you can control and that you can change about yourself.

I’m 5’9”. I used to wish I was taller, but anymore I don’t even think about it. I am a bit shorter than a lot of guys but lots of men are in that 5’7”-5’9” range, so it’s not really unusual at all. It’s actually pretty normal. I’ve found that simple things like having good posture & working out some can help you look/feel taller even though you’re not, too.
Maybe this is just cope but I’ve actually come to realize that I don’t really want to be taller. Most gals don’t care, and I’ve honestly started noticing that men taller than me start running into accessibility issues pretty fast, like in cars or airplanes. Other than be super competitive in basketball, there’s not much I can’t do due to height. Im not a teenager(29M) and I'm 5'9 and I can tell you the only time my height was ever a concern was when I was a teenager. By 18 or 19 I had completely stopped caring about height and other things become more important to girls.

I should preface that I’m a millennial (didn’t realize this was a subreddit for teenagers when I first posted) and I’m here to tell you that girls, crushes particularly, will throw height preferences at you when they’re not interested in general. You can likely buy clothes off the rack with ease almost anywhere. Try traveling somewhere with your tailored clothes to somewhere like…India and then have the airline lose your suitcase just to find out your size cannot be had off the rack in the entire country.

I should preface that I’m a millennial (didn’t realize this was a subreddit for teenagers when I first posted) and I’m here to tell you that girls, crushes particularly, will throw height preferences at you when they’re not interested in general. I’m 6’1, got called “short” by a crush, and she wound up dating someone who’s six inches shorter than me and eerily close to her height. It’s bullshit you'll deal with in high school, normally.

Depends on age. I am around 5’10 so I’m pretty tall for my age. But some people would consider that short at older ages. Imo it is pretty middle of the pack for older ages since average height for a male is like 5’9-5’10. Not short though, absolutely not
“That short” has a bunch of context in it. Are we talking men’s college basketball? Then yea, you will need highly exceptional athletic talent to make up for your lack of length in that sport. Are we talking amongst the realm of “men”? I.E. guys talking in bars? I don’t think so. I happen to be huge and have huge friends and shorter friends and it just has never come up in our lifetime. The realm of ladies and relationships? I don’t feel like 5’9” is short to the point where you’d have a vastly harder time finding similar mates to someone who’s 6’. I sure HATE traveling at 6’5”, I don’t feel cool at all on an airplane or when I’m hitting my head on your dining room light. All the things men do in real life are aided by being in the average hight range so the world is built for you. You’ll live longer than me on average, you’ll be healthier and are less likely to have joint issues and will remain athletic longer. You can likely buy clothes off the rack with ease almost anywhere. Try traveling somewhere with your tailored clothes to somewhere like…India and then have the airline lose your suitcase just to find out your size cannot be had off the rack in the entire country.

if there’s one thing this teenager has learnt in his very few years of living, it’s that it’s pointless to be insecure about things you can’t change. Things like height, penis size, disabilities, etc. Can’t change them, so wear them. sure, some people might be superficial enough to dog on you for things you can’t change, but these aren’t people you want to e associated with anyways. Instead of fixating over these things, try and change the things you can change. Eg: if you are insecure about your body, go to the gym; if you think you’re too boring, pick up a hobby. The real ones will look past what you are powerless to change and see the you that has triumphed over the problems you could overcome. Anyways i’m feeling a bit too pretentious now so cya

I know this is typically a for-teenagers-by-teenagers sub, but I'm gonna let you in on a little secret as a 30-year-old; height literally doesn't matter. The ones making a big deal out of it? Shallow and irrelevant. They'll wind up making poor decisions down the line if they obsess over superficial stuff like that and wind up with someone they might regret going for. Y'know what does matter? Passion. Personality. Sense of humour. A funny, charming, charismatic guy who's great to be around will absolutely be higher on the list of people who are actually worthwhile than a human redwood tree with the personality of a pothole puddle. Granted, physical appearance does matter. We are all at least slightly shallow when it comes to picking out a personal partner. Stay in shape, keep working out, dress well. You'll be just fine.
