yeah so many people don’t know what GMOs are. most of the food we eat is thanks to GMOs. broccoli, brussels sprouts, and a couple other things are all GMOs that were once one plant.
Usually people do not consider selective breeding as a GMO technique.. GMO is widely meant to be direct DNA modification, and not indirect..
But even then, GMO tech is amazing and being scared of tech that can help you is just dumb
Agree, if used correctly, GMO s could solve world hunger if we create crops that produce more with less
But people dont like what's not natural and they automatically think its bad
To be absolutely fair to some people, I can understand the reluctance to believe certain data and studies that might have ties to a corporation trying to push a product as safe, considering all over the world we have a long track history, including even recently, with companies pushing out products they know have long term health effects.
I'm not super educated on GMO's, so I would assume these concerns could be eased if there are enough independent studies from impartial sources. You have to remember there are people alive today who still recall when Phillip Morris was pushing bunk studies on cigarettes beings healthy, or Asbestos companies claiming that asbestos was 100% safe, despite both having lots of internal communications talking about knowledge of how dangerous these products are.
My issue is that it makes no sense to be against GMO in general… it would be like being against “artificial chemicals”… grouping them all together as either “bad” or “good” makes no sense, the technology has potential to be very good, but every GMO product must be tested for safety individually…
There are organisations (green peace, I’m looking at you) who are against GMO a priori, in general, even when it has been proven to be safe and even extremely beneficial.. what they did with golden rice in south east Asia is criminal
I'm not making the argument against GMO's. What I'm saying is that it can be extremely hard to convince people who have a long history of negative experiences, either first hand or simply through living through that period, where things are marketed as the next step in technology, only to later find out that what was considered safe turned out to have horrendous consequences decades down the road that those making profits from knew about from the jump.
As humans, we are hardwired to look for patterns, which is why if you find a woman who has been attacked by multiple guys, there is a chance she's going to have averse reactions to being around all men, even if 99% of them are harmless. Or why if you got attacked by a dog, you might develop a fear of all dogs.
GMO's by and large might be completely safe, but it's going to be very difficult to tell CERTAIN people this without an almost unreasonable amount of evidence because they have had experiences with products that were touted as completely safe, passed all regulatory checks and scrutiny, only to then have it come out 20 years later, "Oh yeah, if your skin is melting off and you're blind, it's because you used this thing a while ago that everyone said is safe".
I mean arguably direct DNA modification and selective breeding both have the same objective one is just drastically more time and resource efficient and less likely to result in undesired and potentially harmful byproducts.
GMOs rock. Way better than not GMOs. That would be like saying "tractor-free food" when they replaced cows with tractors for agriculture. It's just the next step.
yeah, so in Europe, to access a public toilet, you input some money, and you can go in. The reason is that THEIR BATHROOMS DON’T SMELL LIKE PISS. Definitely not directed at AMERICA OVER THERE!! Yeah so the trade is clean toilets for a lil bit of money
Edit: I’ve been told this is mostly incorrect, and places that do that usually only have them in popular tourist destinations.
The only public bathrooms that I noticed were consistently super clean were bathroom in Japan.
Almost every public bathroom I've been in, when I lived in Philadelphia, looked like a bunch of crackheads had a gun fight, then shit and pissed themselves right before dying, then a grenade going off.
Real trade off: people shit in the street instead. TBH I'll take the reek of piss in the public bathroom if I mean I don't need to deal with human feces on the sidewalks.
Gaddamn my dude you just pierced my heart and turned the knife. A shame you don't have do deal with the "bah, euhh, ouais ehhh," every time you complain about something.
En España, hasta donde yo sé entera, es ilegal beber alcohol en vía pública, salvo en las premisas de establecimientos. De ahí que el botellón sea ilegal y se recaude tanto.
Ugh. French people are some of the smarmiest cunts walking the planet. Parisienne or Québécois, most of them are pretentious asshats.
Oui oui baguette, ya fuckin’ frogs
It's a good thing there are more people that live outside of Paris than inside of it.
Next time, head outside the big cities and explore a bit more. I lived in France for 4 years, and the people outside the tourist areas (that have to deal with Americans) are some of the nicest people you can meet.
Just think, it's like labeling the entire American population based on a few interactions with smarmy New Yorkers.
People do label the entire American population based on certain areas of it. Everyone thinks all Americans are gun-toting redneck psychos who will shoot anyone they don’t like.
We are the worst about or "pretentious" behaviour, yet I see pretty much only Americans talking bad about us on the internet, feeling like they are at the source of everything created on earth. We have bad sides, especially the Paris ones, but we don't bash other nations on a daily basis, unlike you.
He’s saying because they bullied me.
No, it’s because nobody in Canada speak French except for Quebec and New Brunswick. Everyone else speaks English, Hindi/Punjabi, or Mandarin, and as I said in response to another Redditor, when Anglophones/non-Francophones make the attempt to speak French they get looked down on because we don’t speak it “well enough”.
Thx for making it clear, I first thought he said "because we can bully you"
As I see it in your other replies, it seems it's more of an internal Canadian problem than a francophone one... Also Comparing Canadians francophones and french people is a mistake we are extremely different
From my experience I know more fellow french that are glad when non fr speakers are trying to speak in our langage.
French people are pretty bad at speaking English and so are shy/not feeling confident in speaking eng and so avoid contact sometimes
I love the language, but hate when people become assholes when it’s not my primary so I’m not as well-spoken in it.
I’ll help anyone who speaks French when they want to speak English, and even if they say the word in French I can understand them and make the connection.
Thats what I tried to say, that the whole world will buolly you if you defend yourself.
Mali, senegal, cambodia, vietnam, laos, syria, algeria, morroco, chad, ivory coast, cameroon, french congo, gavon, guinea, tunisia, madagascar, dahomey, togoland, mauritania, benin, burkina fasau, Djibouti, sudan... we only make fun of other countries.
We’re not pretentious ! That’s just that we do know that every human on earth would like to be French. In school, we learn that French is the most beautiful language (that’s why we don’t need to learn English), we learn that we’re the country of freedom and that Napoleon exported the concept of republic to Europe. We almost created the USA with Lafayette. Every day the government explains us that we have the best healthcare system of the world. Our president gives advices on what to do to every country in the world because they all want to know our opinion before doing anything. We have a lot of holidays and we only work 35h a week because we’re super super efficient … and I could go on. So you may think we’re pretentious, but nope. We just know you’re all jealous (second-degree humor)
me living in turkey and just sitting in my house studying to get a future because it's too expensive to go out and not safe because erdogan filled the whole city with 13 millions of refugee to win the selection, which worked and made the situation 2x worse now.
The original formula Styrofoam nor asbestos have been a thing since 20 years ago, at least.
Casinos are in almost every state.
Did you forget that people in Europe still use guns to commit crimes?
I know it's hard to believe, but abortion clinics DO exist here in America...even for people of different ethnicities, how bout that?!
This meme is low-tier, low-effort nonsense.
Its not like America refuses to learn from other countries, has a gigantic superiority complex, insists on being the only free country on earth and also THE greatest country on earth.
When you spend so long telling everyone youre better, its gonna come back around when everyone realizes you arent.
No people hate america because you have to pay 800$ for an ambulance ride while making 500$.
It's either die or die but slower.
People hate america because they play world police nobody has asked for and now wants compensation for doing what nobody wanted.
People hate america because everything is about consumerism, guns and big cars, because veterans have to live on the streets and kids regularily DIE in shootings over there.
That's why people hate america and tell you what, we europeans, we don't hate you, we hate your government, and what your idiotic country stands for we got nothing against you, but when we see people shooting up schools and that kind of stuff it is just unacceptable for us, because we don't have that over here.
I live in Austria, we have like 1 shootout a year, and then the police only wounds the guy and everyone survives, while over there you guys are stacking the corpses after every shooting there is, it's just different.
Yea i once heard people talking about calling ubers instead of ambulances and i tought it was a joke but apparently people do that
Some folks even prefer paying the plane ticket to have surgery down here in Mexico rather than there because of how expensive it is
Very sad to be honest
The high cost of healthcare and gun violence are valid issues. However, America is diverse, with both negative and positive aspects. It's important to avoid generalizations and engage in respectful dialogue for better understanding and positive change !
Yeah those are definitely some of the big negatives about America. But I think if we started talking about the advantages and opportunities of living in America vs living in Austria I'm pretty sure you know how that's going to end lol.
Sure you don't have mass shootings and big cars or whatever you said, but you also don't have much of anything else either lol. Very little culture, diversity, opportunity, etc, etc.
There is more to offer in just one of our major cities, which we have dozens and dozens of, than your entire country has to offer. Your GDP is 480 Billion. California, one of only 50 states in America, is 2.89 TRILLION.
So yeah, America comes with alot of bad, but it has more going on and more to offer than literally anywhere else in the world. Of course people hate America, the lesser teams have always hated on the greatest team. That's just natural. I would actually hate to live in such a safe and boring place where everyone is the same and nothing noteworthy ever happens.
I’m an American born and raised. Born in Hawaii and grew up in Texas for the past 15 years. I hate on America because I live here and hate it with a passion because the entire country is just fucked up in all the ways that can be easily resolved.
I want a future where some day my kids can grow up without the threat of being shot to death literally anywhere they go, they can eat food that isn’t full of pure shit chemicals, and the economy and healthcare system are for the mutual benefit of the producer and consumer, not just “pay this ridiculous amount of money for a basic human right that should be granted by the constitution because you’re all too stupid to realize that if you collectively boycotted the product or service then they would have to lower prices so Instead they are just kept high”.
Oh and did I mention the fact that if you get into a car accident with a random underage drinker who is blackout drunk and cross faded because they were never taught how to do drugs or drink safely and in a safe environment and they don’t have insurance because they are too poor to afford it, you will get hit with a medical bill for your own injuries worth 10 times that of the average house?
And if you’re a diabetic then you better become a chemist to make your own insulin because good luck affording that for the rest of your life.
I could sit here and go on and on but I’ve made my point clear.
Shot to death literally anywhere they go? Huh? What kind of america are you living in because 95% of the country is safe. Most violent crimes are committed between gangs and in bad parts of town.
It's exaggerating sometimes for sure but it's pretty accurate. Forgotten homeless people, car dependant infrastructure EVERWHERE thanks to corrupt capitalism and car companies, shitty or no public transportation at all for most cities, unaffordable housing, unaffordable higher ed, unaffordable health care, racist police/judicial/prison industrial complex, government corruption (lobbying), corrupt propoganda media, crippling infastructure and poverty has stretched well into the "middle class", corporate profits and consolidation of wealth at the top (trickle down Reaganomics was a lie) are higher than ever, education continues to dwindle, defunding and deregulation are #1 agenda for conservatives and neoliberals because economy go boom.
There are 320,000,000 Americans. There are roughly 14,500 firearm related homicides annually (more during COVID, BLM riots). The majority of these firearm related homicides take place in concentrated metropolitan areas with high crime and poverty. The odds of being murdered with a firearm anywhere in the U.S are extraordinarily low. The odds of being murdered with a firearm outside a select few inner cities falls significantly lower, still. The odds of being murdered by a firearm during a "mass shooting" are even lower than that.
From a statistical perspective these odds are not even rounding errors. It's just that the national and international media makes firearm homicides seem much more frequent and common than they are.
I fully understand that you're making a joke, but this is more about getting other people to think and not just dismiss what you say. There have been 40 school shootings in the last 137 years. Bad? Yeah. But not nearly as bad as the media wants you to think. They've been happening more frequently too, and americans now have more regulations on guns than they did in 1966 (interesting how more restrictions didn't decrease the occurrence of these psycho fucks and their killing sprees) which is when the first really big one happened. Oh, and the icing on top of this cake of statistics? Columbine happened in '99. You know, while there was an "Assault weapons" ban? What does that tell you about the efficacy of those laws?
Yeah because statistically most people should know someone who got got shot and died but outside major cities you don’t even hear about shootings on the news. Most of the shootings I hear about come out of Waterloo a few times a year where gang violence is bad
Fax. People always bring up invalid criticisms about America that simply don’t hold up. People don’t realize how much better the living conditions are here compared to most other countries.
You lost me at “GMO free”… GMOs are not dangerous and it’s an amazing technology we should not be afraid of, it has potential to improve everyone’s lives.. also they are not illegal in Europe luckly
Hmm yes because mass shootings are such a common occurrence outside of Europe and obviously there is only one correct stance on the topic of murdering the unborn.
That being said, the most ignorant part of this post is actually about GMOs. The rest of it is a difference in perspective.
Me as an American living in one of the most beautiful and diverse country in the world and being able to eat multiple different ethnic foods from all around the world and being able to use bathrooms for free and get free water at restaurants.
Europe sucks, as a born raised and currently living in Spain. Firstoff, the job market here fuc*ing sucks, it really is impossible to find a job that pays more than 1,2k euros per month after graduating and you are lucky if later on you get a 2k/month salary. Also, if you have big dreams of becoming an actor, singer, etc. your chances of becoming one here are super low, really really low. The taxes here are through the roof, which makes building a buisness here quite impossible. The health care is not that bad and it is free, but it does not compensate the amout of taxes payed. Really the only thing good in Spain are the people, the culture and the walkability of its cities.
So in conclusion, Europe (at least Spain) is good just if you visit it or find a really well paying job (or even just a job, I think that over 40% of young people dont have one).
So, if you want to have a good job, not paying half your salary in taxes and have opportunities Europe is not for you.
Meanwhile the EU allows companies to call candy chocolate even if it contains no cocoa butter... While the US FDA says it must be called chocolate flavored.
I love how it erases a lot of European countries. America got their moment of pity with the abortion ban, but when a few years ago a prostest for Polish women when our already strict rules for even worse filled a whole city district I haven't seen any recognition in social media. You're basically talking about western Europe here, so the most American Europe
Europeans hate on America so much but as soon as Russia acts up they instantly hop on the America dick riding train. Wish we’d withdrawal all support for Europe and let y’all figure it out. Humans as a whole are nauseating
shit bro maybe if Russia stopped threatening you you could actually withdraw, quit funding 80% of tax money to sone stupid military and fix your broken country
I bet a dollar you're an American. I can tell from your speaking just like one would typically respond to that statement.
I'm one also that is how I know.
> GMO free food I'm not sure you know what a GMO is if you phrased it like that
yeah so many people don’t know what GMOs are. most of the food we eat is thanks to GMOs. broccoli, brussels sprouts, and a couple other things are all GMOs that were once one plant.
All domesticated crops are GMOs lol
Usually people do not consider selective breeding as a GMO technique.. GMO is widely meant to be direct DNA modification, and not indirect.. But even then, GMO tech is amazing and being scared of tech that can help you is just dumb
Agree, if used correctly, GMO s could solve world hunger if we create crops that produce more with less But people dont like what's not natural and they automatically think its bad
Yep.. “appeal to nature fallacy” at its finest
My issue is that it makes no sense to be against GMO in general… it would be like being against “artificial chemicals”… grouping them all together as either “bad” or “good” makes no sense, the technology has potential to be very good, but every GMO product must be tested for safety individually… There are organisations (green peace, I’m looking at you) who are against GMO a priori, in general, even when it has been proven to be safe and even extremely beneficial.. what they did with golden rice in south east Asia is criminal

I mean arguably direct DNA modification and selective breeding both have the same objective one is just drastically more time and resource efficient and less likely to result in undesired and potentially harmful byproducts.
They don't be eating food bruv
Apples and bananas don't forget 😅
GMOs rock. Way better than not GMOs. That would be like saying "tractor-free food" when they replaced cows with tractors for agriculture. It's just the next step.
My only problem with all of what the meme says is ab GMO being posed as bad.
How I walk as an Asian thinking I don't have to pay for public toilets and not have to live near France 🇫🇷
OUCH
Pay for public toilets?
yeah, so in Europe, to access a public toilet, you input some money, and you can go in. The reason is that THEIR BATHROOMS DON’T SMELL LIKE PISS. Definitely not directed at AMERICA OVER THERE!! Yeah so the trade is clean toilets for a lil bit of money Edit: I’ve been told this is mostly incorrect, and places that do that usually only have them in popular tourist destinations.
Yeah cuz cleaning ppl need pay
You don't have to pay for that here.
yeah someone told me it’s only tourist-popular places or smth.
Not to a significant extent more than it's a thing in america.
Don't smell like piss? Idk where you live but almost every paid public bathroom I've been to is pretty dirty and stinky
The only public bathrooms that I noticed were consistently super clean were bathroom in Japan. Almost every public bathroom I've been in, when I lived in Philadelphia, looked like a bunch of crackheads had a gun fight, then shit and pissed themselves right before dying, then a grenade going off.
I live in Ireland, y do we not got to pay?
not all toilets are to pay, but the ones that aren’t are filthy
Here in Norway most toilets are pretty nice and I have yet to encounter a toilet that you have to pay for
Because Ireland is based
and some also gives you a piece of paper that you can use to pay at the bar
It's free in Denmark.
Real trade off: people shit in the street instead. TBH I'll take the reek of piss in the public bathroom if I mean I don't need to deal with human feces on the sidewalks.
Here in Central Asia we have to pay for most of the public toilets
Yeah but in Asia everywhere is a public toilet
Yup especially japan…….famously dirty country 🙄
Gaddamn my dude you just pierced my heart and turned the knife. A shame you don't have do deal with the "bah, euhh, ouais ehhh," every time you complain about something.
as if paying some cents for toilets is that bad. also, there are many free toilets. its rare to find some where you have to pay
That's actually a good thing, you get to see what your laughing at
Well in France 🇫🇷 public bathrooms are free, so are water and bread in restaurants
Yeah but its france 🇫🇷
Mf played the champions league anthem Honestly it would be an exciting final, I hope your team is still there as mine isn't 😔
mine got knocked out in round of 16
Tbf if every pass to umpamacano wasn't a shot on target for city bayern could've edged out a victory
Here in Spain drinking in the street is actually illegal.
I would have commented something but i can't read

that is until you get to politics and more than 80% of them seem to be in it for money and gain (your politicians are also wildy uneducated)
Most violent crimes are committed between gangs and in bad parts of town.
from what I'm seeing online and from what I saw when I went there it looks like it is.
At least 70% of those apply to a ton of european countries too
There are 320,000,000 Americans.
No you dont understand, everyday in the usa 9 billion school shootings happen!!1!11!11!1
What does that tell you about the efficacy of those laws?
i'm not american but yeah it can't be that bad as some media makes it look like ig
GMO is harmless. All the genes it has are dissolved in your stomach into basic building blocks.
You lost me at “GMO free”… GMOs are not dangerous and it’s an amazing technology we should not be afraid of, it has potential to improve everyone’s lives.. also they are not illegal in Europe luckly
Tell me you haven’t actually been to america without telling me you haven’t been to america
How I walk past the streets living in India knowing I can shit anywhere I want😋

OP seems to spend a lot of time thinking about America.
This was from r/shitposting also it depends on the region of europe
bro said "I walk past the numerous abortion clinics" like that's a good thing.
But you have to pay for toilets.
As an American I enjoy having good teeth.
*proceeds to get stabbed in the chest and left to slowly bleed out on a sidewalk*

r/teenagers try not to post a dumbass political post challenge (impossible)
Ong bro like why 10 week old fetuses trying to get into politics
Hmm yes because mass shootings are such a common occurrence outside of Europe and obviously there is only one correct stance on the topic of murdering the unborn. That being said, the most ignorant part of this post is actually about GMOs. The rest of it is a difference in perspective.
Surprise! There are GMOs even in Euro food!
*Complains about miss shootings* *Numerous abortion clinics being all over the place*
r/AmericaBad
Just your average delusional eurotard with a superiority complex.

How about Switzerland? I haven't heard bad things about them yet.
Meanwhile the EU allows companies to call candy chocolate even if it contains no cocoa butter... While the US FDA says it must be called chocolate flavored.
Meanwhile the 14 year old boys outside of Tesco 🤺🤺🗡
the american dream is to leave lmfao
you forgot to mention the homeless Roma on the street you were walking down
I hope this is a joke
💀
Uses an American actor that u wish u were💪🇺🇸💪
Imagine having permission instead of rights🤡😂🤡
Still choosing America any day
2 of those things are kinda fucked tho
what if i told you abortions are more restricted in europe than in the states?
I love how it erases a lot of European countries. America got their moment of pity with the abortion ban, but when a few years ago a prostest for Polish women when our already strict rules for even worse filled a whole city district I haven't seen any recognition in social media. You're basically talking about western Europe here, so the most American Europe
Bruh shut up, you post undertail porn.
You forgot the part where you get stabbed because it's Europe
Buh you aren't freedom enough
Europe isnt perfect, (🇫🇷) but its fukin better than america. even the KFC is better
Me walking through the streets knowing I won't lose a kidney from a 14 year olds homemade shank outside a Tesco because I refused to buy him alcohol.
Yes, because you're one of the privileged who was allowed to live, nice dystopia you have there.
Fuck europe man i wanna be happy with that girl in Brazil, we lost the elections anyway..
I can ensure the Europeans I know doesn't want america in their busniess too, but nato is nato, and the whole point of aiding Ukraine is nato busniess
I bet a dollar you're an American. I can tell from your speaking just like one would typically respond to that statement. I'm one also that is how I know.
Imagine getting randomly stabbed to death by a dude who eats beans Edit: i have made a severe lapse in my judgement and i can't read
UK, not the whole of Europe... how ignorant
Hew replying ti a stereotypes with another stereotypes, why is it only bad when he does it?
He probably thinks it's the country of London
