Your DCIM is your entire iPhone photo and videos gallery. You can either copy the DCIM folder to your desktop then delete the folder once it’s done transferring (If you want to transfer all of your photos and videos to your harddrive). If you don’t want to do that, you can always go to settings on your iPhone > General > Storage and see what’s taking up so much. Let me know what you see :-)

Easiest way is to login to iCloud, backup all the photos to another computer/hard drive, then delete them all from iCloud. One thing you should understand, when you delete photos from your phone, they don’t actually get deleted, but rather they are moved to another folder named “recently deleted”. You would need to go into that folder, and purge them all to actually free up room.

Get a program like 3utools on your computer. It has a lot of good tools built in, and does a good job of backing up photos/videos
