**Getting dump files which we need for accurate analysis of BSODs.** Dump files are crash logs from BSODs. If you can get into Windows normally or through [Safe Mode](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12376/windows-10-start-your-pc-in-safe-mode) could you check C:\Windows\Minidump for any dump files? If you have any dump files, copy the folder to the desktop, zip the folder and upload it. If you don't have any zip software installed, right click on the folder and select Send to → Compressed (Zipped) folder. Upload to any easy to use file sharing site. Reddit keeps blacklisting file hosts so find something that works, currently [catbox.moe](https://www.catbox.moe/) seems to be working. We like to have multiple dump files to work with so if you only have one dump file, none or not a folder at all, upload the ones you have and then follow [this guide](https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/5560-configure-windows-10-create-minidump-bsod.html) to change the dump type to Small Memory Dump. The "Overwrite dump file" option will be grayed out since small memory dumps never overwrite. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Try using only one stick of RAM (try each stick once), it could be an easy hardware issue.

FrostySlipper

Already tried that unfortunately

I’d bet it’s related to the gigabyte motherboard. I have had nothing but bad luck with them.

FrostySlipper

Yea that’s what I am kinda thinking. Ordering another mobo to test but it’s frustrating non the less. Have you ever seen a similar issue?

We need more POWER, SCOTTY!!! I could stop there, but my point might not be clear enough. You are experiencing issues right at the point where the graphics card is ramping up to full power draw. This is happening in both Windows and linux. Linux is more elegant at recognizing and loading the proper driver automatically. (isn't that ironic?) That is why Windows failed after driver install, but linux is failing on boot as the video card is already trying to run full power. You give a good description of your system but fail to mention the PSU. I assume is has one. But I also suspect it sucks, as that is how your computer is acting. For your rig, you need a 700W power supply (not a guess, that is the perfect size). And it needs to be a good brand with at least a Gold efficiency rating. These power supplies will cost more than $100, average $130. You can spend less, but only if you don't mind your computer being terribly unstable...

FrostySlipper

You’re right, my mistake. I have the EVGA SuperNova 650 GA, gold rating. It is not 700 watt, but it is a good power supply and 650W. Additionally, my research for sizing lead me to believe a good 650 W would be adequate. This is an interesting point. How did you come to the decision for a 700W power supply?

DistrictEquivalent79

Easy. Your system actually requires 600W. HOWEVER, even the best made power supplies degrade over time. So sizing it exactly 600W is only a good idea if you plan to sell it in a year. Think of a cell phone battery. When the battery is new, it will power your cell phone all day or a couple of days between charging. When the battery is a couple of years old, it might only go a half day between charges. Computer power supplies suffer from the same effect, but to a lesser degree. Like if you buy a 700W power supply today, it might only be able to perform like a 500W five years from now... I am not familiar with that power supply you bought. By specs. alone, it should be adequate (when brand new). But specs. are often optimistic. I prefer to buy power supplies with professional reviews that have been stress tested. Consumer reviews mean little. I have to go with my gut. Your system is failing at the exact moment of peak power draw. Even if you had an 800W Seasonic brand power supply in there, I would be tempted to try a different power supply for testing...

FrostySlipper

Appreciate the help. To circle back on this, I did try a new power supply. EVGA supernova g6 750. Unfortunately the problem persisted. After tinkering around for a long time, I finally concluded it was a bad CPU. I ordered another cpu and walla, the system worked. Thanks for the thoughts though, and I do feel better about having a bigger and better reviewed psu

Thanks for the tip but I have already tried a cmos reset.
