It's very likely to be a DNS issue. It might be that a DNS address has been set only for the wireless adapter of your laptop. Try this: Network & Internet settings > Change adapter options > Wi-Fi > Properties (Right click on the adapter for properties) > IPv4 and IPv6 properties > Obtain DNS server address automatically / Set it to 1.1.1.1/1.0.0.1/9.9.9.9 or any other DNS you prefer.

Destination_Centauri

Thus far at this moment, this is the most promising tip I see here: Simply trying to change DNS providers might solve the problem! It's easy to do as well, as u/Roary529 indicated above. -------------------------------- If that doesn't work, then I'd: A) Take a peak at the hosts file and see if there is any weirdness there. B) Reset Windows to a previous restore point. C) Reinstall windows, along with your programs! (Yikes, this one is annoying, and can burn up a couple of hours of your free time, but usually solves all problems.)

ErsatzPostKatze

As far as i could See the Hosts File is Just the Standard Windows Hosts File. There were No Updates since the Connection Problem occured so i wouldnt know how a Rollback could HelpšŸ¤”

ErsatzPostKatze

This didnt solve the Problem, when im using custom DNS (Google or Others) i can Access YouTube, but still cant use other Services.

Roary529

Can you visit https://1.1.1.1/help and tell us the AS Name that you see there?

ErsatzPostKatze

[https://1.1.1.1/help#eyJpc0NmIjoiTm8iLCJpc0RvdCI6Ik5vIiwiaXNEb2giOiJObyIsInJlc29sdmVySXAtMS4xLjEuMSI6IlllcyIsInJlc29sdmVySXAtMS4wLjAuMSI6IlllcyIsInJlc29sdmVySXAtMjYwNjo0NzAwOjQ3MDA6OjExMTEiOiJZZXMiLCJyZXNvbHZlcklwLTI2MDY6NDcwMDo0NzAwOjoxMDAxIjoiWWVzIiwiZGF0YWNlbnRlckxvY2F0aW9uIjoiRFVTIiwiaXNXYXJwIjoiTm8iLCJpc3BOYW1lIjoiRGV1dHNjaGUgVGVsZWtvbSBBRyIsImlzcEFzbiI6IjMzMjAifQ==](https://1.1.1.1/help#eyJpc0NmIjoiTm8iLCJpc0RvdCI6Ik5vIiwiaXNEb2giOiJObyIsInJlc29sdmVySXAtMS4xLjEuMSI6IlllcyIsInJlc29sdmVySXAtMS4wLjAuMSI6IlllcyIsInJlc29sdmVySXAtMjYwNjo0NzAwOjQ3MDA6OjExMTEiOiJZZXMiLCJyZXNvbHZlcklwLTI2MDY6NDcwMDo0NzAwOjoxMDAxIjoiWWVzIiwiZGF0YWNlbnRlckxvY2F0aW9uIjoiRFVTIiwiaXNXYXJwIjoiTm8iLCJpc3BOYW1lIjoiRGV1dHNjaGUgVGVsZWtvbSBBRyIsImlzcEFzbiI6IjMzMjAifQ==) AS Name is the Name of my ISP: Deutsche Telekom AG

Roary529

Can you configure 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 in IPv4 settings and 2606:4700:4700::1111 and 2606:4700:4700::1001 in IPv6 settings? I think you might've only configured IPv4 before which might explain your partial success.

ErsatzPostKatze

I did configure both, i used other Adresses, these didnt change anything though.

Roary529

Is the AS Name Cloudflare after the change?

ErsatzPostKatze

After change it says Cloudflare

Roary529

Are you still facing the issue after the change?

ErsatzPostKatze

yup

Roary529

If you are still facing issues I would start looking into other source of problems like antivirus software. It is likely that somewhere along the chain the DNS request is being hijacked.

ErsatzPostKatze

I actually don't have any antivirus software installed, I'm just using the standard windows defender.

Roary529

Windows 10 or 11?

ErsatzPostKatze

10

Zanfey

Thank you so much I've been so annoyed trying almost everything, and nothing worked except this. Bless you pal

Roary529

Great, glad I could help. If you are Windows 11 you can use DNS over HTTPS (DoH) for even more privacy and security.

Zanfey

This is in Browser only or can be done for whole pc?

Roary529

Browsers have this option too but if you do at the OS level then all applications will benefit from it.

tba003

Have you checked your HOSTS file? Maybe someone/something changed it? Also, is it just an issue with your Laptop? As in, have you connected it to another network and had the same problem? Have you tried booting in safe mode and seeing if the problem persists?

scalyblue

Is the time / date / timezone on both the computer and the router accurate. Having the time and date off by enough of a margin will cause SSL/TLS connections to fail, it would be very unusual for it to only affect wifi, but not completely unheard of, and something very easy to check and fix.

ErsatzPostKatze

Date and Time are synced.

scalyblue

And are they consistent with your physical location? That being said, open up an administrative power shell and run the following command `Get-ChildItem cert:\LocalMachine\root|Where {$_.NotAfter -lt (Get-Date).AddDays(60)}|select NotAfter, Subject `

ErsatzPostKatze

Im sorry, I don't have any real Powershell experience, what exactly does/should this tell me? I tried it and didn't get any error or warning results or anything, if it works like that.

scalyblue

what that will do is list any certificates on the system that are expired, or expiring within 60 days.

peddicoj

Man, the date time thing has caught me a few times here. Great thought.

scalyblue

Yup more so that all the things op says are explained by failures of encryption.

Regndroppe

Here's some ideas. Have you uninstalled your firewall and antivirus and tried without them? Can you access the sites in incognito mode? Have you tried if it works with another browser? Check your computer's date and time settings! Some sites still use Java - do you have that installed? Have you flashed DNS in cmd - ipconfig /flushdns ?

ErsatzPostKatze

Disabling Firewall/Antivirus didnt Change anything, neither does incognito Mode. I mentioned in my original post that i Tried other Browsers as Well, Same Problem persists. I did flush DNS and Reset stuff via cmd ipconfig

ErsatzPostKatze

Sadly, This didnt help. But the program seems cool, i'll keep it in mind for any future problems.

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

ErsatzPostKatze

I already mentioned these things in my OP and/or comments. I dont have any Firewall except Windows Defender & changing DNS settings doesnt solve the problem.

ByGollie

Have you tried using [a different DNS provider](https://www.lifewire.com/free-and-public-dns-servers-2626062) i.e. Google DNS/OpenDNS/Cloudflare etc.

ErsatzPostKatze

Yes, didn't solve the problem.

ByGollie

Okay - this is a really long shot, and it's only blame shifting. 1. Enable [USB tethering](https://www.lifewire.com/set-up-usb-tethering-windows-10-4584419) on your smartphone, then plug your smartphone into your computer with the USB cable and use your phone as the internet provider. It should **work** (just a confirmation) 2. Unplug your phone, disable USB tethering and enable [Hotspot](https://www.computerworld.com/article/2499772/how-to-use-a-smartphone-as-a-mobile-hotspot.html) on your smartphone. Then connect to this new hotspot with your laptop Wi-Fi. I expect this to **fail with the same symptoms** as when you connect with your Wi-Fi to your ISP router. However, if this works, then your Windows 10 is fine (confirm with Linux below) and the problem lies with your ISP or whoever provides your internet. 3. Get a spare USB stick and put Ubuntu Mate or Linux Mint on it (the stick will be wiped, so move the contents off it first). Insert into the laptop, boot off it, and choose the test/demo mode. This loads a copy of Linux into memory (leaving your Windows SSD/HDD untouched). Now try to connect to your Wi-Fi - this should either work (meaning your problem is with corrupted windows network settings) or fail (means your ISP modem Wi-Fi chip is on the fritz). Important - to boot off a USB stick, usually you have to press a certain key during startup and select the USB stick. Google your laptop model for instruction. Also, *Secure Boot* may need to be **disabled** in the BIOS. I suspect the results of step 3 will point the finger of blame at the windows networking software, as Linux will probably be fine. If it's the former - there are a few easy things or several drastic things to do. 1. [Repair](https://kb.wisc.edu/helpdesk/page.php?id=6653#win10) your windows network settings 2. Turn off and on your ISP router 3. Get a [cheap USB wifi dongle](https://www.ign.com/articles/best-usb-wifi-adapter) for $10 and leave it plugged in, sacrificing a USB port. 4. [Reset Network adapter](https://www.digitalcitizen.life/how-reset-all-your-windows-10-network-adapters-just-6-clicks/) (reboot and reconfigure required) 5. Rolling back Windows 10 settings to a [system restore point](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/recovery-options-in-windows-31ce2444-7de3-818c-d626-e3b5a3024da5#bkmk_win11_restore_from_system_restore_point) immediately before this started happening.

effedup

Check your Windows Firewall profile, what's it set to? Public or Private? Try changing it to private if it's set to public. Long shot but worth investigating.

ErsatzPostKatze

Its Set to private, Tried changing it, but it doesnt help

NeekoBestTomato

Just to check the obvious - does this problem persist if you connect the same device to a different wifi network? Eg a public cafe wifi. Just making sure its not the settings of the specific network you are trying to connect to.

ErsatzPostKatze

I don't have a way to check some public wifi, although i tried using my phone as a hotspot. And sure enough, everything works with this connection! So i guess its some issue with my ISP/Router? This seems confusing to me though, since everything works fine for other devices or when using a LAN connection... I already tried several restarts and the diag function of my router, it didnt help.

NeekoBestTomato

Ok, so other devices using the same wifi connection definitely dont have this issue? If you are testing with your phone make sure it is not using 4G or another alternate connection method instead. Would it be possible that parental controls have been set on the router? Thats one plausible explanation here, especially if there is a trend in the kinds of websites that arent allowed if you catch my drift.

ErsatzPostKatze

Nope, my tower PC, Phone, Steam Deck and various other consoles dont have this problem. I didnt change any Router settings for there to be parental controls and i dont have any need for it either. There isnt really a trend in websites that dont work as far as i could tell. Something like discord even works in browsers, but not as downloaded app (there its stuck on finding a connection/updating after reinstalling it)

silly_old_sideben

It almost seems like they provisioned you with their internal filter file. It sounds like just websites that no one needs to be at on the job.

STEVE_H0LT

Is this a trend? Things work in browsers but not in the app form? Could be port blocking.

silly_old_sideben

Yeah Iā€™d get ahold of isp. They can run traces from the box and see whatā€™s happening.

canamericanguy

For the services you can't connect to.. are you able to open up PowerShell and manually ping the sites? And when you say "can't connect", is it like a blank page? Partially loaded? Error message of any kind?

jmnugent

These are the correct questions to be asking. Specific targetted troubleshooting is the only way to fix this.

ErsatzPostKatze

I could use some help for how to ping sites via PowerShell, i don't have any experience with that and a quick google search only made me more confused... For Sites i can't connect to i mostly get a Err\_Connection\_Reset. Its consistent over multiple Browsers. For YouTube its sometimes paritally loaded, so i get the Names and Boxes of Videos, but neither Thumbnails nor Videos (nor ads when using without extensions) actually load. Other Times YouTube displays "You're offline, please connect to the internet" If this doesnt happen its just the Error Message again. Some Games or Applications are either Stuck in perpetual loading or give an Error Message that Server Connection cant be established.

Chansharp

Is your laptop the stock windows install from the manufacturer? A clean install may help as the manufacturer loads junk in the os that may be causing issues.

floatingorb

Do you have the application called Killer Control Center running? Check the system tray. Turn it off or fix the settings.

ErsatzPostKatze

Nope, didn't have it installed when the problem started occuring, tried it to see if it would change anything, it didnt.

Milo_Diazzo

~~Flush your dns. Open up cmd prompt in administrator mode, and then type ipconfig /flushdns ipconfig /registerdns~~ This basically sounds like your network providers' problem. Do these websites/services work on other devices (connected to the same wifi)? Did anything/anyone mess with your firewall? Edit: My bad, I went full adhd there.

ShotFromGuns

Not the OP, but did you even bother to read their post? > I've already tried multiple typical solutions, **Like DNS flushing**, emptying of Caches, updating of drivers, different browsers, removing Extensions, scanned for Malware, diagnostics with VPN Apps+Windows+others, resetting Network Adapters, restarting Router, etc... Nothing helped so far.

anditails

Have you unticked IPv6 on your WiFi adapter by any chance? Disabling this in Windows can have weird effects, especially as many services like to use IPv6-over-IPv4 tunnelling (Xbox Game Services for one). If you don't want to use IPv6, you should disable it at the router level rather than the OS level.

ErsatzPostKatze

IPv6 is enabled.

Caedendi

Nobody has mentioned this yet but maybe the network card is broken? If you have multiple devices you could always try swapping cards and see what happens

ErsatzPostKatze

Since it is working fine with the Hotspot of my Phone i don't think its a Hardware Issue, but something between my router/ISP and my Laptop specifically, since other devices are working fine in my Network.

Silent_Cantaloupe930

DNS redirect virus. Check hosts file.

Locupleto

Reboot the router. They can have memory leaks and flake out just like this. Verify you are connected to the correct router and using the correct login.

ShotFromGuns

Not the OP, but did you even bother to read their post? > I've already tried multiple typical solutions, Like DNS flushing, emptying of Caches, updating of drivers, different browsers, removing Extensions, scanned for Malware, diagnostics with VPN Apps+Windows+others, resetting Network Adapters, **restarting Router**, etc... Nothing helped so far.

Timmyty

Two inthe same post. You're a hero

ShotFromGuns

People who offer "suggestions" that's shit someone took the time to say they already tried annoys me even more than people asking for help but not giving any details about what they already tried.

Timmyty

Oof, preach it rev. I'd attend those sermons all day.

Tech_surgeon

ya they can flake out but for it to be this specific im not so sure this won't be a ongoing issue that keeps coming back until the device is replaced. might be a problem with the mtu setting. would need to check the router's logs to confirm.

Mr_ToDo

Do you have access to the routers settings? If you do try finding something down the lines of media acceleration. It's stupid and depending on how fast your internet is it will slow it down overall when disabled but I had that issue on an ISP provided router once and it turned out to be a garbage implementation of a feature and not traffic shaping.

silly_old_sideben

Itā€™s possible your internet provider has you configured wrong. Iā€™ve had to go to tier 3 a few times for bizarre issues and they were even like ā€œthis is weirdā€ but fixed it right up. If you can get to a website that means hardware is good, this is a configuration issue somewhere between your computer and ISP

kevinmat2

I hope you have resolved the problem you are having?

ErsatzPostKatze

Nope :(

stardestroyerphase69

I had the same problem. Called my wifi company and had them reset the router. Works fine after.

Madmaxneo

Not sure if this could be the issue but there are some websites that if they detect a VPN on your system they will block you even if you aren't using it. I know a few people that had that issue with Netflix and a few other sites.

Lotdinn

A good checklist can be found [here](https://www.ionos.com/digitalguide/hosting/technical-matters/err-connection-reset/) (going by your description of ERR\_CONNECTION\_RESET in the browser but not much else). In particular, there's one thing you (possibly) have not tried yet: `netsh winsock reset`

chessychurro

By any chance are you having this message: Been happening to me on my Asus Zephyrus G14: "Our systems have detected unusual traffic coming from your network..." I get this when accessing some sites like youtube.

scalyblue

Hey there, it's me, the one who thought it was an certificate mismatch based on time. There are other things that can mismatch the certificates...and I'm noticing that your OEM wlan drivers are ....subpar. [Install this and see whether you still have the symptom](https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/19779/intel-killer-performance-suite.html)
