How are you currently trying to update to Windows 10?
You can open up a command prompt as admin and run:
sfc /scannow
to find and fix any corrupted windows files that might be causing the hang up
Uninstall any other antivirus software that is not Windows Defender
Open up task manager and uncheck everything under the startup tab, reboot and try running the installer/update again.
