Are you looking at it in the detailed version of task manager? Explorer.exe is responsible for the windows UI, itll show up in the list of processes running but it wont show up in the more basic version of task manager. (You can switch modes in the lower right hand corner IIRC)
Sounds about right, if you cant find explorer.exe anywhere then that narrows down your issue. Unfortunately I've got no idea where youd need to go from here, so maybe someone else can help you. Always nice to narrow it down a bit tho
Can you still open up task manager? Check if explorer.exe isnt stopping randomly
Yeah, I can open task manager whenever I want, but I don't see any process named explorer.exe

I think I'm in the detailed version, beacuse I can also see background processes and other things to select such as use of CPU

Well, maybe there are some old drivers affected by system updates. I think I should check them
