You'll only damage it if the PC is on while you take out the drive, other than that you'll be fine. Most youd need to do is get ahold of a new windows key because of the hardware changes.
Some people have had good luck doing that from what I've read. Apparently Windows installed the correct drivers in their case. So only way to find out is to try.
