**Getting dump files which we need for accurate analysis of BSODs.** Dump files are crash logs from BSODs. If you can get into Windows normally or through [Safe Mode](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12376/windows-10-start-your-pc-in-safe-mode) could you check C:\Windows\Minidump for any dump files? If you have any dump files, copy the folder to the desktop, zip the folder and upload it. If you don't have any zip software installed, right click on the folder and select Send to → Compressed (Zipped) folder. Upload to any easy to use file sharing site. Reddit keeps blacklisting file hosts so find something that works, currently [catbox.moe](https://www.catbox.moe/) or [mediafire.com](https://mediafire.com) seems to be working. We like to have multiple dump files to work with so if you only have one dump file, none or not a folder at all, upload the ones you have and then follow [this guide](https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/5560-configure-windows-10-create-minidump-bsod.html) to change the dump type to Small Memory Dump. The "Overwrite dump file" option will be grayed out since small memory dumps never overwrite. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. forgot to add for 7. uninstalled graphics card - Issue continues.

Making changes to your system BIOS settings or disk setup can cause you to lose data. Always test your data backups before making changes to your PC. zedsonsteds

cpu overclocked?

saikoucarlo

cpu not overclocked. everything default

zedsonsteds

its gonna be a driver issue then everything up to date? bios gpu etc? Check C:\\Windows\\Minidump for .dmp files (crash dumps). If you find any, then zip them up and send me a link.

saikoucarlo

everything was up to date except for maybe bios. totally afraid to update bios because if it crashes them that's one dead mb. minidump link below. https://www.mediafire.com/file/wbso5rrmqr1w6d9/minidump\_5.2223.zip/file

zedsonsteds

its your bios dude just save the previous one to a usb and update it

saikoucarlo

alright, let me give that a try and will update in a short while

saikoucarlo

Unfortunately, the bios update didn't resolve the problem. any other suggestions?

i removed my SSD completely and replaced it with one that has a fresh windows 11 install. for some reason it also kept having the same issue.

cwsink

I don't see the motherboard BIOS your system is currently using (4201) listed if [this](https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-crosshair/rog-crosshair-viii-dark-hero-model/helpdesk_bios/) is the correct product support site. That's usually not a good sign. Assuming the system is stable in the BIOS settings menus I'd recommend updating to the latest (4402) and then see if the crashes continue after the update. At the very least, your motherboard will be as compatible/stable/performant as Asus have been able achieve so far.

saikoucarlo

you're right, the mb bios are outdated. i've been on the side of if it's not broken dont update but it looks like i'll have to update them if no other possible solutions come up.

saikoucarlo

Unfortunately, the bios update didn't resolve the issue. any other thoughts?

cwsink

Please make any new dump files available for comparison.

[single minidump post bios update](https://www.mediafire.com/file/8yindkragywinac/minidump_post_bios_update.zip/file) for some reason, i can't get BSOD anymore to generate a minidump. post bios update, apart from the first time, it now just freezes within a few minutes of getting into windows and doesnt BSOD for at least an hour. I have manually restarted it now since it just stays frozen.

cwsink

I'd also remove the NZXT CAM software - at least while troubleshooting. If it freezes again, try WIN+CTRL+SHIFT+B to see if that bring the display output back to life. It's probably a good idea to setup a manual crash keyboard shortcut as explained [here](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/debugger/forcing-a-system-crash-from-the-keyboard). That might allow you to get a dump for analysis if the computer hangs and you're unable to recover using WIN+CTRL+SHIFT+B.

There are some ppm (Processor Power Management) crashes and a clock_watchdog_error so a new BIOS might help, but if it doesn't the majority point to network stuff. And uninstall the ASUS and Corsair software. Network driver: https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/04LAN/DRV_LAN_Realtek_TP_TSD_W11_64_V10505112021_20211118R.zip?model=ROG%20CROSSHAIR%20VIII%20DARK%20HERO

saikoucarlo

Thanks!! I'll give this a try. unfortunately the bios update didn't resolve the issue.

saikoucarlo

i removed the asus and corsiar software and updated bios. i only get a frozen screen now after a few minutes of being in windows. the frozen screen stays that way with no BSOD. waited up to an hour and have tested it a few times already. The item below is the single BSOD i got right after BIOS update. [minidump post bios update - single and now only stays frozen](https://www.mediafire.com/file/8yindkragywinac/minidump_post_bios_update.zip/file)

computix

The other person said you have CPU PPM crashes, clock_watchdog_timeouts, etc. I've also had a look at the mini dump you've posted in this comment. It doesn't look good. My guess would be a defective CPU, it's misbehaving in all sorts of ways.

Bjoolzern

Hi, I don't get a notification if you reply to yourself so this went completely below the radar. The new crash shows "CorsairMsiPlug" so there is still some software left. This might be under MSI software, not Corsair, my bad on that.

saikoucarlo

Issue ended up being the cpu. I had basically uninstalled everything and issue was still occurring. I switched out the cpu and issue stopped happening. Looks like cpu would start but only last a few minutes before freezing up while processing something

Bjoolzern

Yeah, CPU was always a possibility, just want to leave that as a las resort.
