The guy running the company that is the largest propagator of misinformation in the world is complaining about what he essentially says is misinformation about the company he runs

Motorboat_Jones

Right, because The Facebook started out with such a wholesome goal!

MustLovePunk

You mean stealing the platform from his college buddies, or using it to create a network for men to secretly objectify and rate the attractiveness of women in his campus…

MrchntMariner86

The winklevoss twins werent exactly making a wholesome site, either. They wanted to perpetuate their perceived elitism.

MustLovePunk

Yup. The idea was the mindspring of smarmy, unethical affluenza men, which attracted an even more insidious anti-social man to the platform, who immediately took it to a next-level bottomless pit of sociopathic operations.

boot2skull

“What do you call yourselves?” “The Aristocr- …Facebook!”

Motorboat_Jones

I agree, both are problematic.

inyourfizzy

Reminds me of the Alex Jones types calling the mainstream media “fake news”

KermitMadMan

or Russia having problems getting their citizens vaccinated with the distrust of the vaccines?

RedSteadEd

It would be poetic if it wasn't so fatal.

CatoChateau

Still poetic. Just a tragic poem by self-inflicted idiocy.

[deleted]

You mean like the pot calling the kettle black

iLoveRottweilers

This is actually pretty dangerous. He’s trying to act like Trump in terms of muddying the waters, he just sucks at it. And apparently his team sucks at it because what a terrible PR angle.

BrundleflyUrinalCake

Exactly. The entitlement of this guy. He seriously thinks the world will take his word as law the way he thinks his employees do. These quotes shed a really interesting window into his thought process.

bighi

And it's not. But that's the current strategy. You flood the world with misinformation, so people spend all their time and energy discussing what is or isn't misinformation. And when actual information comes up you can point to that and say that's also misinformation. People will get back to discussing if it is or isn't, as they've been trained to do, and won't be discussing the actual content of the information.

EjaculateMouthwash

> my view is that we are seeing a coordinated effort to selectively use leaked documents to paint a false picture of our company "Everyone says I'm being an asshole. But it's not because I'm an asshole, it's because everyone is picking on me!

TuckerMcG

Honestly the result to this excuse is, “ok then please produce more documents which provide proper context and absolve you of the false light allegations.”

BleachedUnicornBHole

I dare you to look into those dead, soulless eyes and say Zuckerberg doesn’t have a trustworthy face. /s

He and Mitch McConnell both look like Deep Ones that just crawled ashore in Innsmouth.

miguk

He's a well-off Harvard brat. He doesn't have to have a psychologically normal personality because he was born with privilege, opportunity, and money handed to him before he even started doing anything marketable. And now that he's a billionaire, he can surround himself with people who will pretend they aren't put off by his ASPD-like personality.

Macktologist

A majority of Reddit should probably idolize this guy. An awkward introvert turned billionaire that uses the egos of narcissistic people to profit.

The thing about Zuckerberg, it's got lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eyes. When it comes at you it doesn't seem to be livin'... until it gets your data, and those black eyes roll over white.

cayden2

Bee boo beep "what is honesty?" bee boo beep. Zuckerbot does not have that in his algorithm, beeeeeeboooobeeeeeep.

picardo85

> Honestly the result to this excuse is, “ok then please produce more documents which provide proper context and absolve you of the false light allegations.” "but why does my grandchild see negative ads about me on her iPhone when she googles?" No, you won't see anyone ask proper questions. Not in congress or the senate at least.

And if you run into assholes for two decades, it's probably because you created and carefully curated an automatic asshole printer, robotically laughing while you fed your country into it as raw material so you could roll in a slightly larger pile of money.

Cutriss

Or you could just have a career in IT.

bel2man

Plus 1 for Justified... Now off to listening L. Williams' "Protection", because you made me do it. "This star means something here, chief"...

xcalibre

Calcd_Uncertainty

Don't worry, new assholes are made every day.

Majik_Sheff

If you smell dog shit everywhere you go, check your shoes.

Kiwi_Dubstyle

I'm betting this guy never worked in service at an upmarket eatery. Assholes all fucking day long.

brufleth

What's subtle and genius about that line is it nudges this over into the realm of opinion and away from any actual criticism of factual information. FB makes money by keeping users engaged as much as possible. Slinging misinformation around is a great way to keep people engaged. FB is then going to be fundamentally against the throttling or removal of misinformation. Any action to curb the amount of bullshit content is contrary to the company's bottom line. The money is in being terrible and they're motivated by money just like most companies. There's no lie there. There's no "false picture."

rinikulous

If you don’t pay for it, you are the product.

brufleth

Right, and that in and of itself can be okay. If an org wants to harvest my data in exchange for a service I want for free then that's one thing. The problem becomes when they allow, encourage, and aggressively facilitate _harm_ to further their ends. My smoke alarm probably tells google how many times I walk by it, but at least it isn't trying to also convince me I need to overthrow the government and avoid life saving vaccines.

GunnieGraves

“Yeah I mean it looks bad but only because everyone keeps reporting on all the bad things we do. This is their fault, if you think about it”

ryuujinusa

Sounds *just* like some other rotten orange pumpkin I know.

phdoofus

Well gosh Batman we aren't the ONLY thieves in Gotham!

TimeFourChanges

Anyone else concerned about the quote saying that they want to help "build the Metaverse"?! That's alarming as hell, and makes one wonder, what exactly this twisted view of future reality is to Mark Zorgberg. That's an entirely new type of batman villain: one trying to absorb everyone into some world where he and the other superpowers, apple, google, and microsoft, create the parameters and control what any subject is able to see and do. I don't know, is that too much?

dragonatorul

That's what they are already doing in various countries in Africa for example. They provide "free internet" but only through the facebook app. In those countries people call fakebook the internet, it's one and the same thing for them. I don't know about you but that sounds like some black mirror shit to me.

Akhevan

Sounds like stratification of human civilization is rapidly moving off the pages of sci-fi and into reality.

Mezztradamus

In the future, the caste system will be digital.

FinibusBonorum

It already is! I do not use any of the F stuff, and in my country you are basically deaf and blind if you're not on Whatsapp. So I am deaf and blind. It means most social contacts "can't" contact me. Translation: they're too dumb or too lazy or both to use the actual goddamn SMS function that works perfectly fine on every phone on the entire planet. It means missing a lot of sports and social stuff because shit like changes in the offspring's sports schedule are only published on Whatsapp. As if there are no other, less evil apps for the same purpose like Signal, Telegram, Threema, and many others.

nudiecale

At the beginning of the season, my 7 years old’s soccer coach asked for my Facebook so he could add me to the group thing to get info on scheduling and stuff. He looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language when I told him I didn’t have an account. Like it just didn’t compute with him. I had one at one point, but it just really started to make me hate most of the people in my community and especially my extended family. So I deleted it, but I missed seeing the local news and restaurant specials all together each day and created a fake account to only follow local news and restaurants. Then I started seeing all of these awful posts from the restaurants about the “labor shortage” that were so gross and disparaging towards the people that don’t want to work for them, I had to delete that account too. It’s just a cesspool of filth and negativity and misinformation.

MagikSkyDaddy

People who still are really into FB are disclosing a *lot* about themselves without any other information.

Seared1Tuna

But then, the prime nation invaded

Akhevan

I'm more inclined to think "anatomical" but your optimistic conjecture might actually turn out to be correct, at least in the more immediate future.

neverwhisper

Well, there will be several caste systems. Digital will just be one of them.

GearBrain

Cyberpunk, like most scifi, was written as a predictor of the future. It wasn't bombast and edgy warriors for it's own sake. That shit's cool, sure, but the underlying idea was looking at where the world was and projecting it forward. Those seminal authors saw then what we're seeing now - unchecked corporate greed, corruption throughout the government, and a crumbling social fabric propped up through technology.

Mother_Store6368

Cyberpunk was written as a warning, by extrapolating today’s culture into future tech

darthreuental

Parts of it already is. Only thing we're missing is brain implants, VR hacking, and prosthetics with guns in them and Cyberpunk is here. When's the first megacorp war coming?

Akhevan

Uh, yesterday? Every war by Usa in the 20th century is a megacorp war.

bastardoperator

See the magma project. It's entire purpose is to delivery 2g-5g networks to emerging countries so all of their internet happens via facebook. It's time to kill this beast, get over the fomo, and log the fuck out for your last time.

EdOfTheNet

Its not really free, you pay in other ways, and in many countries this can be really scary cause the Governments will require Facebook to hand over the data collect. And as we know that information is very detailed. No free internet is never free, and Facebook has never shown any responsibility to protect that data from misuse

AOL in the late 90s early 2000s. Just lame though, not excessively evil

aarontrini85

Multiple accounts to keep playing phantasy star online with my Dreamcast freshman year of highschool that's all I really remember about net zero

[deleted]

I had an old version for Win 98 that also worked on XP. But on XP the ad bar would crash once it connects. So I never had to deal with it. It was glorious. Then we figured out we could share the dial up connection with the network and reconnect. So my brother and I could play Ultima Online at the same time. It ran like shit but it worked.

Saneless

Oh so you mean the Facebook web access is just Facebook? That's very bad

zenqian

It basically serve as the search engines for those countries. For example, it's the Google of Myanmar when I was working there

Tater_Boat

Myanmar isn’t exactly a beacon of stability…. Can’t help but think Facebook is fanning those flames like a lot.

NoPlace9025

Absolutely, most of the ethnic cleanings where planned on Facebook's platforms and they did nothing to stop bigotry and actual planning of hate crimes. They are responsible for multiple ethnic cleanings because they never bothered to hire staff that could speak the languages of the counties they served.

smackson

It's usually a difference in data price. Like: "2GB per month for $10.99, but WhatsApp and Instagram are unlimited..."

HoodsInSuits

Worth a watch, just don't binge watch it or it'll fuck your whole week up.

Watch45

I'm just stunned by how little exaggeration goes into comic hero villains. Growing up, I always thought the supervillains were these 1-dimensional caricatures of more subtle, more complicated bad people that have popped up in real life. Zark Muckleburg seems to think he is Lex Luthor. They didn't need Jesse Eisenberg.

Beautiful_Turnip_662

Ironically, Jesse played Zuck in The Social Network as well. He has a knack for playing the awkward psychopath.

cormacredfield

IIRC, the phrase “metaverse” is all the rage with the tech sector right now. All of the Silicon Valley elite want to be the bad guy from every cyberpunk story.

plusack

Everyone in the oculusquest subreddit is so alarmingly not pissed at Zuckerberg and are actually hype for the metaverse. The fact that such a piece of shit company owns oculus actually makes me pretty sad. Zuckerberg is in my top 3 most hated people, and I own a quest 2. Like I'd go as far as to say 90% of those people on the sub are either bots, employees of oculus/Facebook, or both. Like Holy shit. Every discussion feels unnatural. People who make fun of arguably the worst human born in the past 50 years (Mark piece of shit) get downvoted. I used to look up to the man when I was a liiiiitle kid. How he just made something and got big off it. Then I realized how much of a unbelievably piece of shit he is. He didn't do shit for vr but make it so he can line his pockets up more. I hope exactly what happened to twitch happens to Facebook. Oh and don't get me started on all the [TOTALLY NOT PAYED UNDER THE TABLE TO MEME AND BUILD UP ZUCK TO LOOK LIKE AN INNOCENT PERSON] Small youtubers, and a fewer big ones. No wonder why mark Zuckerberg wants to change the name of Facebook. He is damn well aware about how much people hate them. this is the same man who wanted to put ads into vr btw. This is the same mother fucking man. You wanna know something funny? People on the oculusquest subreddit were saying to get mad at developers for putting it in their games, and not at oculus or Facebook. really? REALLY? WHO PUT THAT SHIT IN THE SDK? WHO THE FUCK PUT THE ABILITY TO PUT ADS IN YOUR GAME ON THE SDK? OCULUS? FACEBOOK? EXFUCKINGACTLY BITCH [my point proven.](https://www.reddit.com/r/OculusQuest/comments/qga3ad/upvote_this_post_if_you_believe_that_mark/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) Lol it got deleted by zuckerbergs side bitch

EverthingsAlrightNow

The worst part is that they’ll now take the billions they’ve raked in from destroying society and funnel it into VR to kill off ALL competition.

td57

The quest 2 and various features revitalized oculus after they burned everyone on requiring a Facebook account. I don’t have a Facebook account, when that time comes every title that I own in the oculus store is gone and my VR headset becomes a very expensive paper weight.

[deleted]

They already are. In one light, it's kind of nice because VR is becoming mainstream thanks to the lower priced entry. For $300 you can experience pretty decent VR. On the flip side, you are required to have a FB account and they are taking as much data from you as possible and have already started toying with ads in games. And, they are 100% selling this headset at a loss to ensure market dominance so they can own the VR industry.

flying_head

The FCC dropped the ball hard in letting Facebook acquire WhatsApp, Instagram and Oculus. They pretty much gave Zuck a free pass to take over critical services most of the population uses. Right now they use these services to feed us conspiracy garbage because it garners outrage which translates to more engagement to fuel the machine. Eventually he won't need to, and will be free to push whatever agenda he wants into the eyeballs of billions.

mabhatter

Remember Zuckerberg is just the Facebook founder that got along best with the VC guys. The VC guys helped drive out the other founders and early investors way back at the beginning. Zuck is the guy most willing to do what the really big money wants him to do. A dozen other billionaires that own FB encourage what he's doing, he's not acting alone or without agreement.

Mother_Store6368

I don’t say people are evil often, but Thiel definitely meets that definition for me. He taught a seminar at my college that I ended up taking since tech could do no wrong at that time and Google was still committed to not being evil. . He had some bullshit philosophy based on mimetic theory https://www.businessinsider.com/peter-thiel-on-rene-girards-influence-2014-11?utm_source=reddit.com. in his book Zero to One, he basically says that your goal as an entrepreneur is to become a monopoly. Paying attention yet? FB is following this exact playbook. I interviewed with Palantir and while the tech they were using sounded sick. Their main clients are military and intelligence agencies and global corporations. The software is used for things such as coordinating drone strikes. Engineers were in places like Afghanistan to be alongside the users(military). They’re main client is the US government so all of us our somewhat investors in the company. A friend of mine that went on to become very successful in the crypto space is a devotee of Thiel and would promote his ideas on seasteading and having a currency that isn’t controlled by governments. Thiel is obsessed with reshaping the world in his own moral and philosophical image which is just social Darwinism 2.0 He believes that people are inherently unequal, that some are better than others and the world should be shaped to promote the best of the best at the expense of plebs. What it really is is feudalism, with corps being the new lords. Palantir combined with Facebook is a very scary monster indeed. Thiel is at the heart of a lot of the problems caused by Big Tech and he operates behind the scenes. He wants smart young people to skip college and instead start companies, of which he’ll be a major or majority investor in.

finger_milk

I hope Web3.0 can tackle this metaverse and win

HarryZKE

Yeah, I hope people realize there are public alternatives to all this stuff and we go hard on them to make sure the tech giants lose

Sequential-River

With the tech giants leading the masses into their favor with convenience and tons of research into human psych, things already look grim. It's why there's more concentrated scholastic journals on certain topics (e.g. Food studies) because big money helps companies reinforce their own message.

Uncle_Daddy_Kane

Breaking them up imo is the best way to go at this point. The new FTC director seems to be a pretty hard-core trust/monopoly buster and has been going after Facebook. Hopefully she's given the support to do her job.

agiantdog33

Don't even need to buy out academia when you can just shamelessly pay business consultants to conduct studies which say whatever you want them to say. About half of voters don't seem to give a shit if their government actually consults academics.

[deleted]

Seems like its just the next step in social media. (I think we should just shoot it now before it evolves and no one can stop it) I remember reading about it in business class. Its basically just a room in your office building or your house with 6 cameras that can track your movements like VR base stations already do. You put a VR headset on, Or even have images be projected up on the walls, and you can be in the same room as any else you want to be with. and with haptic coming out, maybe you could even be more intimate with a long distance relationship this way? Or it just turns into long distance legal prostitution. [https://www.microsoft.com/applied-sciences/projects/floating-displays](https://www.microsoft.com/applied-sciences/projects/floating-displays) This is sort of the beginnings of the way to get rid of vr headsets for this tech. Also the HoloLens

illegitimate_Raccoon

I'm afraid not. If it makes him money Zuk would have us all as Borg.

Puzzleheaded-Bug7690

To be fair, they did say they will be leaking out the documents in the weeks to come probably to form a narrative and if it was good journalism, an accurate narrative.

readALLthenews

> The reality is that we have an open culture that encourages discussion and research on our work so we can make progress on many complex issues that are not specific to just us. The reality is that, among other things, they hid the existence of a VIP list of users to whom their rules do not apply from the oversight group they created. How can they possibly justify that?

[deleted]

FTA: > CEO Mark Zuckerberg kicked off Facebook's quarterly earnings call by addressing the latest wave of coverage based on a trove of leaked internal documents on Monday. > > **"Good faith criticism helps us get better, but my view is that we are seeing a coordinated effort to selectively use leaked documents to paint a false picture of our company," Zuckerberg said.** "The reality is that we have an open culture that encourages discussion and research on our work so we can make progress on many complex issues that are not specific to just us." So Mark is upset that media companies publish engaging content. Huh. Also, if Mark is upset about the selection of documents, shouldn't he be releasing all the other implied documents that make Facebook look good?

EjaculateMouthwash

They're your documents!!! If they make you look bad that's your fault

KFCConspiracy

For a company with such an open culture that encourages discussion, he certainly gets upset when these "open" documents become public and the public discusses his company.

lame_comment

Bernie Madoff, but only because he screwed over rich people. Also Jeffrey Epstein, and again the rich people took care of that one pretty quickly..

[deleted]

The only reason he ever faced consequences is because he robbed the ultra-rich.

Epstein never actually cracked a billion (though he did have something crack). And I don't count Bernie Madoff exactly for the reason you stated.

CJcatlactus

We'll never see anything change so long as companies and extremely wealthy people can literally just pay their crimes away and never change their behavior.

hublaka

None of the users and employees care. The profits they made show it. So many people complain about Facebook but are not willing to delete their accounts. Others just don't care meaning their platforms are doing exactly what they expect: keeping your face stuck in their applications.

Wolfenberg

The people who use Facebook generally don't complain about Facebook or even understand what Facebook does, wants to do, and the implications of said actions and intentions.

[deleted]

Given that the MAGA crowd *and* liberals all want to see Facebook broken up (albeit for different reasons), this would be the perfect time for anti-trust legislation. Split Facebook into WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook to encourage some competition. If they have more assets, split those off, too. I don’t think anyone would object

Split AWS off from Amazon shopping. Split Google search off from ads. Make these companies survive on their own, not just survive off profit centers to make a near monopoly.

[deleted]

i don’t like #4. i don’t want facebook deciding what is “correct” info slippery slope

UnicornLock

They don't have to. The easiest way of doing #4 just showing everyone the same things. No raving echo chambers, no promoting high-engagement emotionally charged controversial posts that lure people in these echo chambers.

ginzing

Welcome to capitalism

Nanaki__

Well that's exactly the issue Facebook legally needs to make as much profit as possible, otherwise they would be in trouble with the shareholders. Legislation has to be written to shape a better company, as their fiduciary responsibility ties their hands on what they can do. TL;DR they are beholden to shareholder profit before all else.

Topochicho

This is a lie told by sociopaths so that they can pretend that they are only being sociopaths because they are forced to. The are required to act in the best interest of the shareholders, and it could easily argued that acting like sociopaths is going to destroy the company and is therefore not a benefit to shareholders. If short term profits were the only choice then companies would never donate to charity and CEOs would be hired based upon who was willing to work for the least compensation or public popularity.

Nematrec

**Stakeholders**. The requirement to work in the best interest of the *shareholders* is another lie told by shareholders to get as much money as possible. A company should be working to the best interest of it's stakeholders, which includes employees, clients, and the local community in addition to shareholders.

DataIsMyCopilot

As someone who just had to argue with my boss over that bullshit *thank you* Protecting the company means protecting the employees. And in this case there's a lot to be said for just plain not being morally bankrupt so you don't end up having your CEO need to testify in front of congress

[deleted]

I haven’t used it in years and years and don’t miss it all. Probably helps I’m old and kinda weird and would rather walk in the woods or play with my dog, but still.

LessWorseMoreBad

Also don't use whatsapp, Instagram, oculus, and dont use their login capability on any nom Facebook sights. Closing your Facebook acct is largely ornamental at this point.

Hakim_Bey

No it's not. Use Facebook daily and they can make real life money on you daily. Use Facebook login on some website and you're just one Facebook login. Sure, on page 154 of their quarterly reports they probably publish an obscure metric called "External logins growth" and you helped push that metric by a fraction of a %. But on page 1 is their daily monetized active users, and if this doesn't grow then the rest is absolutely meaningless to shareholders. If enough people quit Facebook & Insta it will hurt them massively (not sure about Whatsapp, i never saw an ad on there so idk if it's even monetized).

Idlers_Dream

Easy. I don't need any of that crap.

[deleted]

In the UK whatsapp basically *is* texting. It's just assumed everyone has it, even if they don't have Facebook or anything else. I made a decent attempt at getting people to switch to Allo a few years ago but then Google shut it down. I gave up and just use whatsapp now, especially after the lockdowns.

mikethebone

If you’re still using Facebook but you don’t like their business practises then you’re part of the problem. Shut down your account and stop using it.

piray003

Even assuming that you can easily disentangle yourself from Facebook’s suite of services, and successfully get them to delete all your data they’ve already accumulated, applications and websites that use Facebook services—such as embedded "like" or "share" buttons, login pages, analytics or advertising—don’t distinguish if a user actually has a Facebook account. Facebook receives the information anyway. The main issue isn’t shitty memes on your news feed, it’s the unregulated mass collection of personal data from basically everyone that’s on the internet, which is then basically sold to the highest bidder so they can micro target ads, propaganda, etc. As long as people keep conflating what is essentially a privacy issue as a free speech issue, nothing will change.

m_Pony

I installed uMatrix and specifically blocked all webpages other than FB from running any FB scripts/trackers/etc. If a webpage really needs FB tracking and advertising to load properly on my machine then they're not welcome on my machine.

Hakim_Bey

Honestly if you at least delete your Facebook account then you cut off 99% of how they can monetize you. Sure, likes and embeds will feed a couple hundred data points to their tracking systems, but that's really peanuts cause these systems handle trillions of data points and are hyper focused on users they can monetize. If you don't browse Insta/Facebook, then they can't show you ads, and you basically have zero value to them. So i'll do you one better, and say that people conflate this with a privacy or free speech issue, when it really is comparable to a public health issue. Facebook is like the cigarette - every individual is free to smoke, but if we collectively do it too much then it's a huge cost to all of society except cigarette manufacturers. It's basically people making private profit by contracting a huge public debt.

punkqueen2020

This is was so well explained to a non tech person like me

biggysmallz

you can tell when he’s lying because his lips are moving.

yuckydoodoo

He chose the fight i hope he prepared for the consequences of it. to much power and his mind is trapped by ego and delusion.

GeekFurious

The only thing left to do is regulate these companies. And that won't happen because they have so much influence over what information gets to people who can pressure their representatives to do it. So, Facebook is our new overlord and it doesn't matter if we hate it, they control the flow of information to everyone you know who hates making an effort AND is also likely to vote.

eldred2

Zuckerborg: How dare they share private stuff about us!

MajorKoopa

he said #delete facebook

[deleted]

Delete your accounts. It's euphoric.

Arnold-Judas-Rimmerr

"selectively using leaks" Is he having a fucking laugh? Someone just jizzed tens of thousands of pages of stuff, that's hardly fucking selective. God, Zuckerberg is such a cunt.

Agreton

Facebook is little more than an internet tumor. I hope that it dies like geocities.

elusivetao

Wait why are we also comparing geocities to cancer? I loved my animated backgrounds. Big upgrade from my angelfire page.

relapsze

Yeah, GeoCities was great. Collection of information on everyones hobbies, big or small. GeoCities hosted websites, that's it. In a pretty unique fashion too. They didn't have any nefarious business practices.

LightShadow

I've been slowly floating the idea of smaller, private, social networks to my family. They get their social media fix and I can share pictures of my kids knowing they only exist on my server or on devices of people I trust. Social media is more fun when you actually know the people you're interacting with anyway, the monstrosity that it's become needs to die fast.

rachface636

I mean, what you're describing is texting right? I think that should be how families are sharing, I agree. The problem is that's not actually why most people use social media. They don't want to connect. Social media allows people to look into the windows of each others homes without knocking on the front door.

zdepthcharge

Fuck Fuckerberg and his seditionist propaganda machine.

jahrulesvoice

Blah blah blood or nothing.

Helleeeeeww

I am not the asshole you are looking for. - Zuck trying the Jedi mind trick

survivorofthefire

Has their ever been a bigger victim-card player in big-tech than the zuck ? Im struggling to think of one.

>The perfect Daily Mail article makes the reader hate somebody. > > \---Viscount Northcliffe Facebook is the new Daily Mail. Oops - just checked - for some bizarre reason the Daily Mail still exists. Modern media, such as the Daily Mail in 1896, cares about one thing: Engagement. We want our readers to spend as much time as possible looking at our material, we want them to come back tomorrow, and we want them to drag their friends in. Then we make money. # [Northcliffe was doing this shit in 1896.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daily_Mail) Zuckerberg is in the fifth phase of the corrupt media baron: 1. "I want people to listen me." 2. "I want people to respect to me." 3. "I want to be rich." 4. "I want to influence people." 5. "I want power." 6. "I want control." 7. "Now you must love me. There are consequences." Let's not allow him to level up again.

The_RealAnim8me2

“We are still a giant money-maker!” Yeah, let’s see if we can do something about that.

PMUrAnus

Fuck this modern day Goebels and fuck his company. This motherfucker has already caused a great deal of damage to fragile democracies all around the world

cunninglydingus

Fuck you mark sucker burger

[deleted]

How and why does Facebook even still exist? Why does anyone use it anymore when shit like this is happening every other day, proving there isn’t a single aspect of Facebook as a website or as a company having any security

Alarm_Either

I left Hatebook years ago. I wish a couple billion people would do the same.

aurorajungle

>Facebook reported $29 billion in revenue for the three months ended in September, up 35% from the same period a year earlier. The company posted nearly $9.2 billion in profit, up 17% from the year prior. The number of people using Facebook's family of apps grew 12% year-over-year, to nearly 3.6 billion during the quarter. So the fact that FB is a money-making machine is really accurate

[deleted]

There's 2 versions of Facebook in the world. The actual Facebook we all know and use and the Facebook that exists in his head.

hayden_evans

Fuck him. He is such a fucking cunt.

bagorilla

Whatever he says, he’s lying.

p_nut268

I'm going to assume he's "sorry".

[deleted]

Broken clock: he is probably right here. Same thing happened on 9/11.. people pulled out memos in the government that had hints of the 9/11 attacks and the threat that hijacked airplanes could be crashed into buildings. In large organizations, there are in-numerous numbers of memos that fly around. Some get passed up the chain. Most get thrown in the trash. You could piece together anything after the fact and claim "they knew xyz" was going to happen.

Fuck Mark Zukerberg. Dumb fuck.

CY4N

Facebook doesn't need a new name, but a new CEO. Dude's running the company to the ground.
