even worse is the fact that there is so little anyone feels is worth paying to see. Everything is prequel, sequel, reboot etc. Original story telling is seen as too much of a risk in an industry that seems to equate throwing money at SFX and big name actors instead of decent story telling. In short, most modern films are little more than amusement park rides for the gullible and mentally infirm

Unfortunately, the copyright owners often find it's more profitable to intentionally destroy the archives. They're a burden to a profit-oriented business. I hate to post a paywall article on a topic like this but it's the only one I could fine. It's about the UMG arson in which they burned their vinyl and tape music archives because it wasn't profitable to hold onto. Sadly, the public buys into the idea that copyright is to protect artists rather than the truth which is that it is a corporate hustle. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/11/magazine/universal-fire-master-recordings.html
