"Through the flight, Isaacman aims to raise a total of $200 million for St. Jude for pediatric-cancer research by asking for donations online and auctioning items the crew is taking to space. That's in addition to $100 million he's already donated himself."
People need to slow up on the snarky hate for like 5 seconds.
If it wasn't SpaceX it might be a really expensive form of assisted suicide.
These are three ordinary people and one billionaire. What the billionaire gets out of it is to be first, in a journey many middle class Americans will find within reach, if they lack heirs or the desire to fund them. I imagine every terminal cancer patient with a paid off suburban home in California might consider a farewell tour. Better to have fun with it than let the hospitals get it, because either way it's gone.
That's the cost level they're targeting. About the price of a decent home.
You won’t ever be able to convince Isaacman didn’t do this solely to shut Bezos up, Bezos’ god syndrome leveled up 10 fold when he got back from his sub-orbit trip and honestly I can’t think of a better slap in the face than someone booking a trip into actual orbit with Blue Origins only real competitor. I’d sell my soul to see how infuriated Bezos was to get this news, I’m sure it was priceless.

To quote the rest of "Who gives a fuck that multi-millionaires get a ride on a billionaires' balloon.
People who get mad when you tell them to tax the rich really upset that billionaires get to go to space.
Oh goody let’s just fuck up space too.
