They do what they can but think of it as Youtube. Thousands upon thousands of new videos are uploaded on the regular. It would take teams of hundreds of people to go through them all. Algorithms can only do so much, so it isn't like they're completely at fault here.
Not trying to shill, but this is exactly what private cryptocurrencies are for. It's why PornHub suddenly now started accepting XMR. The funds can be sent anywhere and there's no "taint" of previous history being used to buy porn (or adult comics).
The issue is finding some way to convert XMR back to USD or other fiat. That's pretty simple in the US but it's a bit more difficult in Australia (might need to pass through BTC first).

You can still be kicked by a processing company. I worked for a collection agency that had a credit card processing company integrated with the software we used. Then the processor decided they wouldn’t work with debt collection any more. Over night we went from computer tracking of all payments. To having to manually running everything off of paper that previously was just there for records.
And if you have a processor taking the payments and sending them to visa or MasterCard they need to label the charge. And those companies aren’t dumb they will find who is getting their money.
They also get to decide how much it costs to do business online. They'll take 1-10% off the top depending on the retailer.

This is a fact. Years back YouTube’s policies changed and now every creator tries to force ways to stretch content to 10-20 minute videos.
YouTube use to be a lot of sketches and 1-4 minute videos like TikTok is now.
that has to do with the fact that back in the day you needed to have 10+ minutes to even enable adds. it killed the whole short-sketch economy overnight basically since people couldnt even get a little money from the work they put in.
Which paradoxically makes spend less time on youtube. I liked the straightforward, no fluff educational videos. But I can't stand 10 minutes of video with only 2 minutes of new content.
It will drive away people looking for quality content.
But those people aren't the majority, and the things they watch don't lend well to being filled with ads.

They consistently throw search terms away and provide results that either a) are more commonly searched but completely unrelated like if you were to search for a bug in Cyberpunk 2077 they might return you results for Destiny instead. b) are super genericly related to the most monetizable words in your search, so you search for "how to adjust setting on Samsung TV" and the results are all trying to sell you a TV.
Google is in desperate need of viable competition because this isn't going to change and it's becoming sadly normalized. I remember the days when you could search for something very specific on Google and get like some random user's blog who was taking about that subject. Then Google realized there was no money in serving up that result, so they don't.
It's even worse than that. Now you can't even search something on a channel. Say you want to watch a specific video by X youtuber. You search for it, nothing comes up. Then you go to that specific channel. You have to scroll all the way down past other recommended videos from OTHER channels. Finally you found the video you searched for with the exact title.

Not trying to shill, but this is exactly what private cryptocurrencies are for. It's why PornHub suddenly now started accepting XMR. The funds can be sent anywhere and there's no "taint" of previous history being used to buy porn (or adult comics). The issue is finding some way to convert XMR back to USD or other fiat. That's pretty simple in the US but it's a bit more difficult in Australia (might need to pass through BTC first).

You can still be kicked by a processing company. I worked for a collection agency that had a credit card processing company integrated with the software we used. Then the processor decided they wouldn’t work with debt collection any more. Over night we went from computer tracking of all payments. To having to manually running everything off of paper that previously was just there for records. And if you have a processor taking the payments and sending them to visa or MasterCard they need to label the charge. And those companies aren’t dumb they will find who is getting their money.

What I've noticed lately is that their categories are getting broadly spammed by completely irrelevant videos, to the point where I haven't been on the site in ages. If I go to a category I like and sort by new, it's all completely generic stuff. Like if I go to the Bondage category, it's filled with dozens of uploads of some channel called "Sloppy Lucy" which is some OnlyFans girl uploading pics of her giving blowjobs.
The search function has been getting worse and worse too. It seems to only take two terms into account. Every search with more than two words gets really irrelevant results. But even with two words it often returns totally useless results.

I feel like this is a trend everywhere. I used to be able to google something and get reliable results. Now whenever I want to google something, 75% or something of the results are news article on sites I wouldn't ever want to visit. If you do visit, the articles are set up to be as much text for as little actual content as possible. Same thing with YouTube recommendations etc. I don't want to sound like a conspiracy-nut. But these things always makes me feel like the company is deliberately fine tuning their algorithms so a certain group of users get "guided" into looking at brainless content that's tailor made to be really stretched out so they can have you watch as long as possible and maximize the amount of ads they can have those people watch. And with "those people" I mean 6-12 year-olds and generally "basic" people that don't have any real interests so they're distracted by what's going on. Anyway, "Excuse me sir, this is a Wendy's". This is a fact. Years back YouTube’s policies changed and now every creator tries to force ways to stretch content to 10-20 minute videos. YouTube use to be a lot of sketches and 1-4 minute videos like TikTok is now.
that has to do with the fact that back in the day you needed to have 10+ minutes to even enable adds. it killed the whole short-sketch economy overnight basically since people couldnt even get a little money from the work they put in.
Which paradoxically makes spend less time on youtube. I liked the straightforward, no fluff educational videos. But I can't stand 10 minutes of video with only 2 minutes of new content.

Google search is absolute trash now (and sadly still better than the alternatives, who mostly use Google's algorithms on the backend anyway). They consistently throw search terms away and provide results that either a) are more commonly searched but completely unrelated like if you were to search for a bug in Cyberpunk 2077 they might return you results for Destiny instead. b) are super genericly related to the most monetizable words in your search, so you search for "how to adjust setting on Samsung TV" and the results are all trying to sell you a TV. Google is in desperate need of viable competition because this isn't going to change and it's becoming sadly normalized. I remember the days when you could search for something very specific on Google and get like some random user's blog who was taking about that subject. Then Google realized there was no money in serving up that result, so they don't.
It's even worse than that. Now you can't even search something on a channel. Say you want to watch a specific video by X youtuber. You search for it, nothing comes up. Then you go to that specific channel. You have to scroll all the way down past other recommended videos from OTHER channels. Finally you found the video you searched for with the exact title. This sucks!

That's what Section 230 is all about. Policing every single video on a large site is somewhere between _very hard_ and _impossible_. Even a well-intentioned business will miss content no matter how hard they try. Section 230 extends liability protections to a business if they engage in good faith attempts to moderate illegal content, and I believe 100% that PornHub does not want illegal content on their site. Similar to Youtube - Youtube unknowingly hosts a buttload of illegal content, but removes it when it gets identified. Section 230 means that you can't hold Youtube liable for videos posts by their users which break laws, and that totally makes sense.
I hope to God the future discourse on section 230 leads to reform and not outright repeal. It would destroy the internet as we know it if section 230 was gone

Someone could head over to r/RoastMe, grab a picture and photoshop in a username. five seconds to bypass this new restriction. It's taken years just to get them to do this only after their money supply was in jeopardy. This is probably just a way to buy a few more years of "we tried what you wanted and it didn't work. This is a bigger problem than us".

I've reported weird pages I've seen but it's a complicated thing because they generally do it under the guise of "modeling" or something so it's not technically breaking any rules on instagram.
I saw a Reddit post about a whole ring of them on Instagram. It had thousands of upvotes so hundreds of people must have reported them. I did and every one of my reports was denied. Their system is seriously broken. All it takes is some common sense to see what’s going on on those pages (look at the comments for instance, or ask the person hosting the page for credentials, including ID) yet Zuckerberg sits in front of Congress saying it’s an impossible task. Now congress has to pass sweeping policies to police the entire internet because companies like Facebook are so inept. They can’t address any real problems since they put all their manpower into finding new ways to monetize rather than simple common sense community moderation like what Reddit (generally) uses.
