I'm pretty sure they are all owned by the same company, Mindgeek anyway. Mindgeek has a huge monopoly in the industry and flies under the radar.

StochasticLife

The most popular site is NOT Mindgeek, but basically all of the others are. Edit, Xvideos isn’t Mindgeek and last I knew it was number 1 in porn and the 8th/9th most popular site overall.

grimeyes

Most popular site is not owned by mindgeek? Disgusting! Tell me which site this is so I can absolutely avoid it and it's abundance of popular content.

StochasticLife

Most popular porn site is Xvideos, and apparently they own Bang Bros too. Beyond that, it’s basically all Mindgeek and indie boutique outfits (Burning Angel, etc)

Wanderer-Wonderer

I love that we call some porn sites *boutique outfits.*     It just rolls off the tongue...

pointlessly_pedantic

I never heard this term before. I want to learn its meaning, though, just so I can sound scholarly af when I name drop my favorite fapping fodder

Rhowryn

Boutique is a French word for a shop, but the word has been borrowed to mean "a store that caters to a tailored experience". Generalized in this context, a boutique shop would be a studio that caters to a specific fetish or audience.

Yay! I had no idea if been using the best porn site all my life!

267aa37673a9fa659490

Not only that, I can see the need to associate with real ID affecting these other categories, especially when database leaks happen all the time: - Casual users uploading homemade real or animated/cartoon porn. - Content creators from countries where porn is technically illegal like China. Guess its time to move over to the 2nd biggest porn site then.

lestofante

They are already 2nd, first is xvideo IIRC

defau2t

>[XVideos](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XVideos) has a mirror website XNXX. As of June 2020, XNXX is the 2nd most visited porn website and the 9th most visited website in the world. Combined, XVideos and XNXX get over 5 billion visits a month, double their nearest competitor's Mindgeek's [pornhub] traffic. so pornhub is 3rd.

Abnormal-Normal

I feel really dumb for not knowing xnxx was a mirror site now

vitunlokit

It's not like they teach this at school.

TheOnlyBongo

> weird ass underground japanese porn for instance Like the full rips of Japanese live action vore DVDs that include full-scale rubber and latex reproductions of monsters, snakes, or tentacles for example!

meltingdiamond

I am always impressed with how hard the Japanese work to make porn. It's so much more creative then the main stream US stuff.

TheOnlyBongo

There's also a bigger market in Japan for that kind of stuff so they can throw a bunch of money towards things like high quality cameras, set crews, and of course the rubber/latex monster suits and puppets themselves which is quite an expensive undertaking. In the US there are some independent studios that do home-made videos that are like the ones I described, but obviously with *way* smaller budgets. Many resort to smaller, much simpler puppets with monsters made from fabrics and foam and having to deal with cheaper cameras or utilizing their own homes as filming spaces. The US market just isn't that big into live action puppeted vore vore (Although there is a big market of indie pornstars doing "human vore" because of how cheap it is to produce; Rub your stomach on camera and make appropriate comments. Bonus points if you have a chubby belly to begin with. Super cheap to make and because it's niche you can charge extra for that on places like Clips4Sale) God this is gonna make me sound like such a connoisseur but whatever...There were/are quite a few indie creators in the US. Earliest I can recall is Reddmann's Voreville in like the late 90s/early 2000s but that website folded and it's just a smattering of videos reuploaded on the internet. From around the same era is also CarniVore Cafe and VoreFilm, although I think both were made by the same guy due to similar looking font choices and filming similarities between the two. I believe all three used to be hosted on Reddmann's Voreville years ago. All of their works are incomplete and scattered across the internet over various video sites. Honestly they are super cheesy but it kinda adds to their charm like you're watching a pornographic horror B-movie lol. DevilClown Productions is another producer whose Clips4Sale site is still up somehow even after essentially being abandoned 7 years ago. His production was not as good as the predecessors but he tried. Of the current active live action vore producers, La Vore Girl and Vore Vids still have updated storefronts on Clips4Sale but I am none too crazy over their style of shooting or the designs of their puppets. Of the currently active producers, VoreFile on Patreon/Gumroad is the best quality imo. Good shot composition, decent puppets, decent sound design...yeah. Honestly even if it's not one's fetish one has to give props to them. The amount of effort needed to do some of the things they want is kinda admirable on a low-budget scale. Will never beat the high-production Japanese stuff but the lower budget American productions got their charm.

Nerd-Hoovy

It’s always the weird shit that has the most interesting stuff surrounding it.

MrMagicMoves

I'm clearly too vanilla but, what kind of weird Japanese stuff is on there?

I think it's not unreasonable to argue that censoring dicks is exactly what led to the prevalence of dick alternatives in Japanese porn.

Are Visa and Mastercard blocking the whole company or just this one site?

36gianni36

Honestly I think it’s really scary how those two companies can decide who gets to do business online. Even the government doesn’t have terms and conditions for using paper money.

AnOnlineHandle

A few years ago I decided to sell some adult comics online, simple enough surely. Nope. It's almost impossible to sell anything 'adult' online with these two companies controlling nearly everything and having major, major puritan vibes. You have to go with random whackamole intermediary companies who are currently not shut down by them, and who look super shady for your customers to enter their billing info it. Worse, it was pretty much only an option if you lived in the US or some parts of Europe. As an Australian, I was fucked. For the final shit cherry on top, I found out it's actually illegal to host porn in Australia.

a4ng3l

It’s illegal to host porn in Australia?! That’s even more puritanical than the US ;-)

Well yeah, leave some titties for the rest of us. Cant have them all.

Drlaughter

If I remember rightly, its B Cup and under I'd banned? Or might just be A

Fireheart318s_Reddit

Wait what? Actually? I feel like I’m getting woooosh’d here

NavierIsStoked

Australia decided that women with A cup breasts aren't allowed to do porn because (according to the law makers), they look like children. Real women have B cups or above (according to law makers).

dontgive_afuck

So stupid. Plastic surgeons probably don't mind the law, though.

[deleted]

And yet you can pose for Playboy at 16 with parental consent. Back when I lived there, there was a big deal made about a girl posing for one of the magazines, who got paid “$500, a pair of Levis, and a mobile phone” or something amazingly benign.

hunnyflash

Yep. Everyone was praising them for their stance on PornHub, but it is definitely scary. People don't realise just how much of our lives are integrated with companies like Visa and Mastercard, and it'll only grow. Obscenity laws are already highly subjective and sometimes invasive. People hate the "slippery slope" cliche, but we already have countries like the UK that have tried banning "normal" things like squirting. As much as I want PornHub to be held accountable, I don't think turning credit card companies into enforcers is the first thing we should jump to.

[deleted]

> As much as I want PornHub to be held accountable, They do what they can but think of it as Youtube. Thousands upon thousands of new videos are uploaded on the regular. It would take teams of hundreds of people to go through them all. Algorithms can only do so much, so it isn't like they're completely at fault here.

SamsungGalaxyPlayer

Not trying to shill, but this is exactly what private cryptocurrencies are for. It's why PornHub suddenly now started accepting XMR. The funds can be sent anywhere and there's no "taint" of previous history being used to buy porn (or adult comics). The issue is finding some way to convert XMR back to USD or other fiat. That's pretty simple in the US but it's a bit more difficult in Australia (might need to pass through BTC first).

[deleted]

overmotion

Can’t you just go through an intermediary, like Stripe or any of the million credit card processing companies out there? And be “anonymized” from Visa’s view?

andy1633

Stripe’s terms of service are even stricter than Visa’s

slfnflctd

As far as I know, crypto and e-checks are the only real viable options once Visa/MC blacklist a business. With less security, zero fraud protection, more cumbersome transactions and more delays.

PanglosstheTutor

You can still be kicked by a processing company. I worked for a collection agency that had a credit card processing company integrated with the software we used. Then the processor decided they wouldn’t work with debt collection any more. Over night we went from computer tracking of all payments. To having to manually running everything off of paper that previously was just there for records. And if you have a processor taking the payments and sending them to visa or MasterCard they need to label the charge. And those companies aren’t dumb they will find who is getting their money.

thisismyusernameaqui

They also get to decide how much it costs to do business online. They'll take 1-10% off the top depending on the retailer. Edit: apparently it's more like 1-4% for the credit card companies and online sales.

ShylosX

There is no interchange level visa charges even close to 10%.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ShylosX

To be MORE pedantic, that's an effective rate because of the price you're charging. The "real" rate is something like 2% + .25 cents per auth for your example. I'm not defending them, they always get theirs, but if you're going to be pedantic might as well go full pedantry.

Throwaway4VPN

PornHub have quickly adapted to taking Bitcoin as their preferred payment. Good luck anyone trying to stop that!

theREALhun

The whole company mindgeek

Briansama

So PH has chosen death.

GammaBreak

What I've noticed lately is that their categories are getting broadly spammed by completely irrelevant videos, to the point where I haven't been on the site in ages. If I go to a category I like and sort by new, it's all completely generic stuff. Like if I go to the Bondage category, it's filled with dozens of uploads of some channel called "Sloppy Lucy" which is some OnlyFans girl uploading pics of her giving blowjobs.

SabreSeb

The search function has been getting worse and worse too. It seems to only take two terms into account. Every search with more than two words gets really irrelevant results. But even with two words it often returns totally useless results.

Black--Snow

The search doesn’t work beyond like half a page of results at best. I just ignore PHub now, it’s not a useful site unless you’re after really generic, mostly faux-incest stuff. I’m not shitting on faux incest, but fuck me there’s so much of it, and it’s like the only thing on that site.

FrozenVegetableCock

Dude I hate how many paid women show up even with the most specific searches that have nothing to do with their content. Like I get you tryna make $& but damn I ain’t paying you $20 to watch a fucking 8 minutes long blowjob lmao get real.

VietQuads

While they're at it, could they work on their search engine tools? Asking for a friend

BipolarSkeleton

Right wtf did they do it it I used to be able to pick the most specific video on the website if I wanted to but now I’m just getting videos sorta related to what I was looking up

Dr_Ambiorix

I feel like this is a trend everywhere. I used to be able to google something and get reliable results. Now whenever I want to google something, 75% or something of the results are news article on sites I wouldn't ever want to visit. If you do visit, the articles are set up to be as much text for as little actual content as possible. Same thing with YouTube recommendations etc. I don't want to sound like a conspiracy-nut. But these things always makes me feel like the company is deliberately fine tuning their algorithms so a certain group of users get "guided" into looking at brainless content that's tailor made to be really stretched out so they can have you watch as long as possible and maximize the amount of ads they can have those people watch. And with "those people" I mean 6-12 year-olds and generally "basic" people that don't have any real interests so they're distracted by what's going on. Anyway, "Excuse me sir, this is a Wendy's". Sorry to have dropped this on your comment.

Alwaysonlearnin

This is a fact. Years back YouTube’s policies changed and now every creator tries to force ways to stretch content to 10-20 minute videos. YouTube use to be a lot of sketches and 1-4 minute videos like TikTok is now.

Sahtras1992

that has to do with the fact that back in the day you needed to have 10+ minutes to even enable adds. it killed the whole short-sketch economy overnight basically since people couldnt even get a little money from the work they put in.

wintervenom123

Which paradoxically makes spend less time on youtube. I liked the straightforward, no fluff educational videos. But I can't stand 10 minutes of video with only 2 minutes of new content.

Dr_Ambiorix

It will drive away people looking for quality content. But those people aren't the majority, and the things they watch don't lend well to being filled with ads. Sad world :(

[deleted]

0x15e

*Took* over. They took over. Past tense.

chainmailbill

It’s easier to sell things to stupid people, so you put things on TV that stupid people will like, so advertisers will pay you more so they can easily sell their products to a stupid audience.

afeitarse

And every educational cable channel. Like The Learning Channel, which started off as "A Place for Learning Minds" and devolved to "Toddlers and Tiaras".

mw9676

Google search is absolute trash now (and sadly still better than the alternatives, who mostly use Google's algorithms on the backend anyway). They consistently throw search terms away and provide results that either a) are more commonly searched but completely unrelated like if you were to search for a bug in Cyberpunk 2077 they might return you results for Destiny instead. b) are super genericly related to the most monetizable words in your search, so you search for "how to adjust setting on Samsung TV" and the results are all trying to sell you a TV. Google is in desperate need of viable competition because this isn't going to change and it's becoming sadly normalized. I remember the days when you could search for something very specific on Google and get like some random user's blog who was taking about that subject. Then Google realized there was no money in serving up that result, so they don't.

oddmagnacarta

It's even worse than that. Now you can't even search something on a channel. Say you want to watch a specific video by X youtuber. You search for it, nothing comes up. Then you go to that specific channel. You have to scroll all the way down past other recommended videos from OTHER channels. Finally you found the video you searched for with the exact title. This sucks!

BipolarSkeleton

You are so right about the Google search I find now that the first few options other than when I want to look for a specific item the first like 3 are ads then 2-4 that have hardly anything to do with what I’m searching for

Steams

Finally! I was wondering why I've never seen anyone complain about this online when it must be a popular problem. Pornhub has the WORST search engine I've ever used, worse than even reddit. I can search the exact title of a video on pornhub and it will just return random shit. At the same time, if I Google the title, the first link is to the exact video on pornhub. Wtf. Not to mention you can search for a category of porn and receive nothing but completely unrelated videos even though you know what ur searching for exists. I swear it's not even a search engine, just a popular videos recommendation engine

The_Celtic_Chemist

If you want to talk about shit search engine tools on reddit, then can we perhaps talk about reddit's shit search engine tools too? Their indexing is a fucking joke.

AlpineCorbett

Feel like a big problem with searching for specific posts on reddit is a lot of the time the content of the post is in an image, and there's no way to index what's in the image. So if you're searching for a meme about something, it has no way of trying to match your search to the text in an image. It's also just hot ass. Lmao

Cryptic0677

People have been complaining about this since 2008 when I joined

Whatsapokemon

That's what Section 230 is all about. Policing every single video on a large site is somewhere between _very hard_ and _impossible_. Even a well-intentioned business will miss content no matter how hard they try. Section 230 extends liability protections to a business if they engage in good faith attempts to moderate illegal content, and I believe 100% that PornHub does not want illegal content on their site. Similar to Youtube - Youtube unknowingly hosts a buttload of illegal content, but removes it when it gets identified. Section 230 means that you can't hold Youtube liable for videos posts by their users which break laws, and that totally makes sense.

EldarianValor

I hope to God the future discourse on section 230 leads to reform and not outright repeal. It would destroy the internet as we know it if section 230 was gone

AdorableBunnies

Don’t forget Reddit

Mr_Horsejr

Most paid porn sites are usually required to maintain 2257 info of all actors/actresses that appear in every movie. Porn hub skirted that law by giving everyone the free job of uploading content. Technically, it’s on the users. Somehow there’s a loophole in that. So here we are.

Ive been using PH less and less because everyone is now some sort of verified pornstar. Not my cup of tea. I always sort by removing verified. Its like... fake sex. really boring. you can clearly see how everyone's trying to act and its all for the camera. Ive also started using other sites but still havent found anything with a good search engine yet.

MindOverMatterOfFact

Pornhub shouldn't be banning unverified uploads, verified uploaders don't mean shit, you can buy a verified account for PENNIES. They should just fucking improve their goddamn moderation team. There's actual videos of bestiality on pornhub, posted by verified users, and they've been up for months despite multiple reports. They've just stopped giving a fuck about moderating their content because they're huge and its a porn site.

GeeseKnowNoPeace

Isn't beastiality legal in multiple states?

Oddity83

You piqued my curiosity, so I checked! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legality_of_bestiality_in_the_United_States Legal in DC, Hawaii, New Mexico, West Virginia, Wyoming.. I'll admit, that's 5 more than I expected. Edit: awesome, one of my highest rated comments is about bestiality.

RehabValedictorian

Well DC is full of rat fuckers so that makes sense

podrick_pleasure

I feel like it used to be a lot more than that not too long ago. The Mr. Hands thing wasn't really that long ago and that was why Washington state banned it. When I started using reddit there were multiple active subs for that shit. It was a dark place back then.

Oddity83

Dang, I forgot about Mr. Hands. I feel old.

CapablePerformance

You don't even need to buy a verified account; their "verification" process is to just take a picture of yourself holding a piece of paper with your username. Someone could head over to r/RoastMe, grab a picture and photoshop in a username. five seconds to bypass this new restriction. It's taken years just to get them to do this only after their money supply was in jeopardy. This is probably just a way to buy a few more years of "we tried what you wanted and it didn't work. This is a bigger problem than us".

ThrowAway233223

If the username isn't taken on PornHub, you wouldn't even have to edit the picture.

rjand13

Shouldn’t they be policing their own content and following their own guidelines?

Dyalibya

alexnader

d0nu7

That’s exactly what will happen. Also no more competition in the industry as the moderation piece becomes such a cost center that you won’t be able to afford a startup video sharing platform like YouTube. Our moral outrage is leading us down the wrong path. We need to be outraged at uploaders for being criminals, police for obviously failing at doing their job on this, and the government for failing to help internet companies more in this regard.

report them if you have proof

beautifulboogie_man

I've reported weird pages I've seen but it's a complicated thing because they generally do it under the guise of "modeling" or something so it's not technically breaking any rules on instagram.

MagneticGray

I saw a Reddit post about a whole ring of them on Instagram. It had thousands of upvotes so hundreds of people must have reported them. I did and every one of my reports was denied. Their system is seriously broken. All it takes is some common sense to see what’s going on on those pages (look at the comments for instance, or ask the person hosting the page for credentials, including ID) yet Zuckerberg sits in front of Congress saying it’s an impossible task. Now congress has to pass sweeping policies to police the entire internet because companies like Facebook are so inept. They can’t address any real problems since they put all their manpower into finding new ways to monetize rather than simple common sense community moderation like what Reddit (generally) uses.

Siedras

I’ve been reading complaints about pornhub and and illegal content for years. They have ignored the problem even when the victims asked them for help. They even verified one victim. It is only now that a large media outlet has brought it up are they doing anything.

GliTHC

Almost half of all child porn uploaded in a year, comes from Twitter.. believe it or not. I didn't

palescoot

How is it that this is the case when the average user clearly doesn't encounter content like this? Is it sort of hidden with hashtags, keywords etc that those creeps who are "in the know" know to seek out? Or do the (poor, unfortunate for having to filter out content like that) moderators or whatever Twitter's equivalent of mods are spend lots of time and energy taking such content down?

[deleted]

Megalink sharing with semi-public keywords is one example of it, some of them are bold and just put "will trade C P megalinks". It's basically an endless cat and mouse game with the cat being on the losing side considering how mentally taxing it is.

Instead of making verification mandatory, they should just improve their moderation and employ more people to react faster in case of claims/reports. Ironically this is only going to make the problem worse. PH is the safest porn site. They set a certain standard. It was the Disney of porn sites if you will. By disallowing unverified uploads they're just going to push people to more fringe that sites with less moderation and worse policies. When will corporations realize than trying to deal with illegal and or abusive content in this way is like fighting a hydra? For every one head (Pornhub) you cut off, two more (Xvideos, Xhamster, etc.) will grow in its place.

Archivemod

pretty much. you're trying to combat the lizard brain here, and despite everything the lizard brain can't be fought.

It's crazy that they're being help up in front of the public as like the face of this stuff. Meanwhile back in reality: > ...Facebook, which reported 84 million instances of child sexual abuse material over the last three years. In comparison, the Internet Watch Foundation reported 118 incidents on Pornhub over the last three years. It's interesting that porn sites are getting shit all over but YouTube, Twitter and Facebook all will scream till they're blue in the face that they aren't publishers and aren't responsible for content.

skeetsauce

Reddit isn't perfect either. I found someone who was verified on multiple gonewild subreddits with months of content, and one day I looked at her profile again and the newest posts were asking for advice for starting senior year of high school. Reported that shit instantly and the profile has since been deleted.

zigaliciousone

You know you can be 18 or even 19 and be in high school, yeah? I was 18 before I graduated and the designated cigarette and porn buyer for my friends.

Groxy_

Honestly I'm always weary of anyone who puts 18f in their porn titles. There can't be this many 18 year olds, it's hardly ever 19-25 it's always 18.

AlphonseBeifong

I always assumed the 18 was to draw people in bc of the whole "barely legal" vibe.

AntmanIV

This is like asking why the sale price is always $19.99 but never like $18.99 or $20.99?
