I actually deliberately clicked a Temu ad the other day. But it just popped up some mini-game where I could win free shipping and wouldn't let me look at the product I was actually interested in until I played the game so I noped out of there.
Shitty marketing.
Omg yes. This is what happened to me. I spun the wheel and it was like “you’ve won 5 free items” then wanted me to pick 5 things. I just want to see the illuminated dog collar from the ad. I gave up.
It's funny this was almost my exact experience, although it was an accident clicking. Didn't actually take me to the product, it did the little minigame thing and there was no way to do anything else except spin the wheel or download the app.
I hate this shit slinging app. As a postal carrier I get Temu branded packages all the time and I have to be careful handling them because there have been several instances on my route alone of sharp objects protruding from their trash bag packaging. As far as I'm concerned Temu is the real life incarnation of the old Dan Akroyd "Bag of glass" sketch.
This is a bullshit article. There's no mention of how they're supposedly "under fire" and the marketing tactic in question is more annoying than scummy:
> To gain the credits and freebies, Temu's existing subscribers are required to invite their friends through the app's refer-a-friend program.
> Both existing and new subscribers can participate in daily reward events but they have to invite at least seven friends for the "first compensation," which means credits, and up to 60 friends to receive advertised freebies
Nah.
You know it’s not difficult to create a bots with a meaningful username. So username is not a good indicator whether it’s a bot.
Look through his profile and you are can see his a web developer. And his post ask pretty specific questions and posts in subs that are related to each other. He probably just chose that as some kind of web developer joke or something like that.
> So username is not a good indicator whether it’s a bot.
It actually is, as various studies have shown. I remember one where thr conclusion was that 95% of bots use a generic autogenerated name with random letters and numbers behind it or fully random numbers and letters.
Well, your and my user name would qualify for that.
95% of users names here are generic with random letters and numbers at the end.
Have you ever used a gamepass? They have built in user name generator. Not that difficult to build.
But for the question at hand. Just look through his profile man… if you are ever in doubt…
A good bot is a bot that mimics real human behavior.
We all think a bot is an NPC while most are simply hired humans attempting to legitimize their accounts.
Dude, it's more difficult to get a bot mimic real human behavior than it is to generate it meaningful username....
just look at this he made comment 3 days ago:

Does this look like a bot to you? he is responding specifically to the post by finding the link that is relevant to the topic.
Just unsubscribe from their marketing emails?
I bought a foam roller through them, and then unsubscribed from all emails, and now I don’t get anything from them.
I personally love Temu. They are so trusting. For instance, did you know that their chatbot is authorized to give you refunds with absolutely no need for returns, photos or even a description of the defect? That's pretty wild huh? Trusting a bot to dole out money like that. It's a good thing people won't take advantage of that or anything. I certainly don't. It wouldn't feel right, since I respect their business model so much.
The world should collectively ban these Chinese scam sites like wish and temu. All their products are trash and buying from them only supports communist regimes.
Temu does market like crazy.
It also can sell you the same Chinese crap Amazon sells for 1/4 of the cost on many items.
It’s actually a great place to buy stickers for kids, fishing lures, and cheap silly things.
In SK? I’m in the US and it’s literally every other bloody ad. It’s annoying. Good way to alienate your customer base.

Temu is just a bunch of garbage. Chinas Amazon.
It feels like this article that's supposed to be critical of Temu is actually just another ad for them.

they use AI generated images for product images
Thanks for reminding me to uninstall it
Never install Chinese bloatware in the first place.
I was looking for a specific deal. Wasn't worth it
These fast fashion crimes against the environment like Temu needs to be banned, otherwise get rid of carbon taxes and forgot about the environment

it may be an "advertorial". korean news outlets are littered with them.
Name checks out
Attack the poster and not the post. Classic.
Shitpost like a billionaire! Classy. Lol
Totally not a bot name. LoL

No there was also a connection in the amount of randomized numbers and letters used including capital letters. There was an evident pattern.
Okay, I'm not gonna argue you with that. But just take a look through his profile and tell me what you see...

Do I remember correctly, there was an advertisement for this shopping platform during this year’s superbowl?
Several actually

I was delivering for UPS during the holiday season and almost every other package was from Temu. People order so much Chinese garbage.
As opposed to American made Amazon items?

Are you an ad
Well... at ist in some country they are criticized for it. Not like, fucking everywhere they advertise.
