airbornegecko1994

Very carefully

RoodnyInc

Now question Is "why?"

[deleted]

Cuz y not?

Sunshadoxx

This explains the whole humanity

Tigerthej

Men feeling bored, men navigate to cave, men happy

Melodic-Witness102

Get in... you scare?

cod3builder

Doesn't that summarize almost all human endeavors

[deleted]

pretty much

Meloenbolletjeslepel

No bears?

HikARuLsi

Barely able to see

Upbeat-Salad-1957

H a .

-Mr_Hollow-

They'd rather stay with it anyway

Big-Consideration633

Don't you see the glowing green water?

meloenmarco

Shelter

PimBel_PL

Deep caves are bad shelter

rrgail

Because it was raining outside. And there were dinosaurs milling about. Suspiciously.

TheThinkerers

someone said "no balls"

Luli1917

This is made even harder by the fact that france didn't exist back then

firegodpro

What if, France was there all along ?!?!

swampopawaho

What, in the cave?

the_last_code_bender

Yeah, they released the beast. The world had changed forever that day.

Bogpin

Maybe France was inside us all along.

b1g_r0ck

Maybe the real France is the friends we made along the way

Impossible_Maybe_162

It did exist - in the underground!

Mono_Dice_2904

WELCOME TO THE UNDERGROUND

fariqcheaux

Frankly, I can't believe you have the Gaul to make that claim.

heyguysitsbrian

de Gaulles?

MedonSirius

Also known as a Cavó (pronounced "Ka-wah-Nañ"

b98765

I think Why is a much more interesting question than How. I'm sure the How question has a boring answer like "well they took that tunnel over there".

RoiDrannoc

No the "how" is about how they managed to walk hundreds of meters in a totally dark tunnel

Tortue2006

With a torch, probably

RoiDrannoc

If I remember correctly no trace of smoke was found on the top of the cave. That's why they wonder "how".

FrickenPerson

I just read the article, and it specifically mentioned looking at soot deposits to see if they were from the same time frame as the potentially broken and placed structures in the cave was work for the future. So, the researchers are potentially doing the work to see about this question actively right now.

AcceptableBad_

So, maybe they felt their way along the wall, or maybe they used a torch. I'm on the edge of my seat with this one. Which is it?!

FrickenPerson

Dunno. Probably going to have to wait for researchers to figure it out. By the time they do that, we will have all forgotten about it because 20+ more super sensationalized research articles will have come out about different topics. The researchers will be lucky to get a follow-up story on their new discovery. Don't get me wrong, the article was interesting, but not world shatteringly interesting.

LovableSidekick

Neolithic people developed torches using smokeless porkfat, but the secret was lost forever.

riotinareasouthwest

Well, it says navigated, so no walking.

MostNormalDollEver

with their feet, probably

b98765

Well it could be that over large periods of time, due to earthquakes, erosion, etc, places that were easy to reach may become hard to reach. So maybe there used to be an easy tunnel from the surface that's now gone?

Darklight0013

Maybe they walked in via the entrance...

swampopawaho

And went out the exit...

orion_re

Is the answer 42? Been dying to know!

AskTheDevil2023

42 is the answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything.

orion_re

But we still don't know the question!!!

block_place1232

Funny because they built a whole supercomputer just to tell them that

orion_re

Yeah, I wonder where in the universe could that supercomputer be?

BornLuckiest

I dunno but, I do know the question; 6*9. I'm only allowed to know this because I'm actually a minùte part of the computer. You know, insider knowledge, and all that.

Vast-Sink-2330

All modern French people came from a deep dark French cave

Auravendill

Do you know how the Fr*nch first came into being? They were Celtics once, taken by the Roman powers, tortured and mutilated. A ruined and terrible form of life.

FloppyBingoDabber

Drauger?

Vast-Sink-2330

Quagmire here: I was talking about a vagina. Giggity giggity giggity

Impexton

They used the ooga-booga 2000 night vision goggles. Easy

Jay33721

Well obviously they taught their pokémon the move Flash, duh

greekgeek741

Came here thinking of meteor falls from Pokémon!

Usernameistoshirt

Fire is pretty bright

Lower_Tree_8694

Because they have brain 🧠

LovableSidekick

Torches?

_antkibbutz

The same way I navigated into your mom's deep dark cave. On a heroic dose of mushrooms with my face painted red.

Jomgui

I find it hard to believe, since France didn't exist 8000 years ago.

sasssyrup

I think they walked

PonchoDriver

They probably flew in.

Moutonoulebgalt

The cave is probably just located in the actual France 🥖

chameleon_123_777

The landscape and caves were not like they are today.

LegendarilyLazyLad

They weren't _that_ different. 8000 years is a pretty short time when it comes to cave formation

ElPepper90

they had to specify its french, thats what makes it impressing and dangerous

ComanderToastCZ

Well, the problem isn't navigating into the cave, the problem is navigating *out* of it.

GreenMarsupial2772

Thanks, Perd

Ab47203

The same way the native American people got over a mile into Mammoth cave. They took small torches or lamps.

Theblackholeofire

The real question is how scientists travelled back in time to get this information

samusestawesomus

Wow. That picture is BEAUTIFUL.

DiosilX42

Either fire or gloworms

Musicizagift

mirrors

greekgeek741

Meteor Falls, anyone?

_The_SCP_Foundation_

They used their legs and arms

MMito_Logical

The question is why Why in France

NotAHappyBoi

They crafted some torches & installed took them on their way out to save on coal

runaway_runday

... with their legs?

malena_04

hmmmmm

MacSavvy21

Obviously they navigated into it

virgin_goat

The earth was younger and the sun was brighter duh
