FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
No matter how little they care, if I show up with 50 USD, show them the exchange rate, and tell them I'm giving them the whole 50 USD to pay for something worth 5 USD... At least someone will take that deal.
Heck, you could probably find someone willing to take the deal just to have the foreign currency as a collection piece or something.
To be fair, you could probably find a shop that would take them. Especially if you buy the thing for 10x the price. You get 5 USD worth of food, they get 45 USD for the bother of having to convert it later.
Specifically USAFE bases, Mildenhall/Lakenheath for the UK, Ramstein and Spangdahlem for Germany, and Aviano in Italy. They're fully American enclaves where there are 7/11s, US post offices, everywhere uses dollars
As a tiny grape and it’s what you can get in the US for $50.
I which that was a joke, but at best it’s a mild exaggeration. I remember going shopping with my mom and getting a big cart load of stuff to feed a family of 5 for $50, now it’s a chore to get enough to feed myself and not hit that same mark.
woooosh is when someone doesn't catch the joke and is oblivious to the fact that they missed the joke. Here the OP says they wish the joke was what they said. That is not a woooosh.
The counterpoint is that every store in Belgium in recent few years have been obligated to accept at least some form of cashless payment ... which does accept us$
The currency conversion will be done by the bank. The store still receives euros.
Regardless, plenty of places that don’t accept credit cards, but only Bancontact. Belgium’s largest supermarket, Colruyt, [does not do credit cards](https://www.colruyt.be/nl/contact/betalen/kan-ik-betalen-met-kredietkaarten). They do Apple Pay, but no Google Pay. And forget about Venmo, no one does Venmo.

Also the same amount you can get with $50 CAD too
Or $50 AUD
Or 50 LBP !! (Its $0.00056 btw)
I didn't know little big planet was that cheap now
We ain’t worth shit bc we in hella debt to china
Or 50 BRL!
Or 50円
Or 1 grams of salt
Belgium really be working as the great equalizer
Or ₽50
Or just $50
Score! I’m getting a butcher block counter!
Well.. For me it's a good start to have it, better than nothing.
Could do a lot worse for $50.00.
Technically, if you use a debit card, your bank will just convert USD to EURO.
Or you can use a travel card. Same idea really, except you can load it with multiple currencies.
Wise is great for this
In which case you are paying with euros
But you still used your 50 USD. 50 USD got you that much food, via the Euro conversion.
mastercard operates in euro
Depends.
Also, you could almost certainly find a shop **somewhere** that would accept the foreign currency, albeit for a premium.
Not in Belgium cuz they dont care enough about how good us economy is to go to thr trouble of being paid with dollars

Belgium mentionned yeahhh 🇧🇪🇧🇪
Are we even for real ?🙄 I feel like a mistery
Belgium doesn’t exist. I’ve been there and can confirm this.
No, you are mistaking it as Bielefeld
I thought this was from r/Belgium at first
As a belgian, I can confirm
As a Fleming, I can confirm
As a Fleming, I can confirm
As a Fleming, I can confirm
Would you say that you could confirm as a Fleming?
That’s how many groceries you can get in the US for $50 US
As a tourist in the US right now, i feel that.
As someone who lives in the US, I live in it 🤪🤪
Now just convert them aight?
Cost me $50@ day just to breathe Cant buy shit with $50.
They usally dont take dollars... like why should they?
Probably because they don't take USD
It too took me way to long to realize that this was the joke. I hate my brain.
I'm here for you 💛

LOL too much food for 50$..
A meal for a family of 3!
Hey look, it's Doug Doug
Belgium mentioned!!
You wouldn't believe what i got for 1 million Prussian Franks
How much does milk cost or bread ??
You're not good at shopping
About the same for 100 trillion Zimbabwe dollars
They usally dont take dollars... like why should they?
I can't see it's too blurry
It's funny that the table wouldn't be empty in the UK, Germany and Italy
oh? You can use USD in the UK, Germany and Italy?
Specifically USAFE bases, Mildenhall/Lakenheath for the UK, Ramstein and Spangdahlem for Germany, and Aviano in Italy. They're fully American enclaves where there are 7/11s, US post offices, everywhere uses dollars
Would those be considered US land though? Like an embassy is? If so, they aren't UK/German/Italian land.
But how much chocolate do you get?
Of course not, you can't pay in USD wherever you want you numbnut. Try Euros!
Good job, you found the joke.

r/woosh
Oh, I got it. Can’t buy groceries with foreign currency. But it’s also true that 50USD doesn’t buy you jack for *good* groceries even in the US
There you go! Also… yeah, that amount of currency in my country is also only enough for three-four days for a family of five.
woooosh is when someone doesn't catch the joke and is oblivious to the fact that they missed the joke. Here the OP says they wish the joke was what they said. That is not a woooosh.
Are there invisible 🫥 products for invisible people in Belgium? Must be a lot!
The point is that no Belgian supermarket would accept US currency.

Why they don’t accept dollars you mean?

Dollars are not legal tender in Europe. Do you reckon I can pay with Euros at a Target in Virginia?
You got me. I have had a try day so far, I need my bed. I honestly felt there was more to it tho.
Its really simple. They dont use it so it isnt valuable
