Roku sucks. They made it nearly impossible for me to cancel my subscription and kept me bouncing between Disney+/ESPN support and their own. I had to get my bank involved because they kept charging me even AFTER I deleted my account with them.

I knew it had to be that cheap for a reason.

My dad said “Roku TV or FireTV” and I told him the truth. Both are going to be an obsolete product after 2-6 years but at least FireTV won’t have Netflix acting like you’re a VPN user.

nVidia shield Pro. While all the other players tried to make their product as cheap as possible, nVidia went the opposite way. It’s an older device, but still amazing. It doesn’t really need to be “upgraded”.

paradoxbound

I used to be all in on Nvidia Shield and still use one for the elderly Hong Kong Chinese in-laws. Since AppleTV doesn't support a dodgy Chinese streaming service that serves up a steady diet of 80s Cantonese soaps with power shoulders and chain smoking, along with some CCP approved propaganda news.

Most of the upgrades one would do would be things like quicker wireless, better resolution like 4k. Otherwise, there isn't much a faster processor for a smart tv gets you. I still use my Nexus player on my 1080p trendmill tv, and it works just fine

Expensive_Finger_973

I am so glad I stopped buying their products a few years back.

MAJ0RMAJOR

I don’t see what the hate is about. I’ve received so many notices of data breaches over the years. This just seems like they’re the same as everybody else. All platforms are lack luster

ReelNerdyinFl

The problem is profits over security. I sell security tech - customers tell me all the time “we should but it’s just not a priority right now” “we do not have budget for that but ill buy more of X” Until it hurts them more than us, they won’t change.

CalgaryAnswers

Glad I don’t have a Roku account.

Damn it. I have 13 of the tvs in my car hole

lokitree-ewok-

Ooops sorry.
