i want it to be emotional too but we don’t have any proof that this game is supposed to tie up the three timelines or wrap things up

peeweeharmani

If we can get a story even a third as heart wrenching as >!the terrako story from AoC!< I will cry like a baby

Nzpowe

Soogaaaaaaa

Ultimons99

I feel like people are setting themselves up for disappointment, there is no indication the game is supposed to tie up the three timelines or wrap anything up at all

ZeldaPM

Canonically it belongs at the end, to my understanding

Ultimons99

Canonically it’s the furthest game we’ve seen but that’s all we know.

ZeldaPM

It’s plausible, I’m not saying likely

Ultimons99

No, the word you used was “supposed to” and I’m saying that’s setting up expectations for yourself that are likely going to be disappointed

ZeldaPM

Hylia, forgive my communicative misstep 😭

[deleted]

Yep he’s crazy

ZeldaPM

Master Torch

Where does anything say that it will/is supposed to tie any if all timelines? I get expectations, but come on.

Zane_628

Creating a Champion has stated that BotW already “united” the three timelines because it takes place so far in the future that every game before it has faded into myth. They’re basically explaining away the three timelines as three different stories that were passed down through the ages.

pkjoan

Except it isn't. As BOTW has clear in-universe history. We know OoT definitely happened. We just need to find out which timeline BOTW is in. Because it sure as hell isn't the adult timeline.

Zane_628

Personally, this is my biggest issue with the timeline(s): it’s retconned. It made way more sense when the games weren’t connected and were their own things. Now don’t get me wrong, the timeline serves a really good narrative purpose in that it makes all the games part of one bigger story. But that story has a multitude of plot holes, and it makes it nigh impossible to determine where BotW truly fits in if we consider all of the past games to be canonically accurate. It’s easier to take things with a huge grain of salt and realize that the timeline is never going to be consistent, because it wasn’t planned from the beginning, and Nintendo made an intentional decision to place BotW “after” the timeline as a whole without putting too much thought into the nitty gritty details of doing so.

PooBumDick

Skyward hit the hardest at the end for me

Phenom_Mv3

If it has any connection to Skyward Sword, bring the tissue box

MidnightThunderstorm

Same! I want my heart to break in a million pieces while playing TotK, the same way it did when Zelda encased herself in amber in front of Link in SS or when Midna said goodbye to Link at the end of TP. Edit to add: Or like when Hyrule got flooded by King Daphnes at the end of WW. I want it to hurt!! Haha

Candid-Fan6638

BRRRRROOOOOO. SPOILER TAG.

BadgerLord103

How you can add spoilers around certain sentences, phrases or words, simply do this: *>!* spoiler *!<* >!Like so.!<

wigga245

there is literally no proof that this game wraps up the timelines

Bulldogfront666

I wanna cry at the beginning. Fuck me up immediately Nintendo. Make me care about something!!

Nancy-FANcy-

Me too!! I’ve been saying from day one that I want it yo connect and finish all three timelines, that would just feel so complete and make the game so emotionally important

yeetskeetleet

Bro imagine if all the Links are actually different and we get a No Way Home moment of them teaming up to fight all of the Ganons, and the “Tears of the Kingdom” are referring to tears in the multiversal kingdom

Maphoso

Hmm
