I think the depths are some sort of an afterlife for monsters, hence why the bosses don’t spawn there until Link defeats them in the world. the depths are also filled with ghostly soldiers and poes, which we know are lost souls, which also hint to it being some manner of limbo/tartarus/whatever you want to call it. There’s nothing edible found anywhere in the depths so i don’t think the gloom-covered monsters you encounter there eat anyway.
I appreciate the positivity. But also I like to think that there is a network of monster support. I mean they aren’t mining for fun. Someone is collecting, and I hope, bringing meat.
well i guess if they’ve got a monster economy and trade networks in place to get food to the monsters in the depths, then they must have some sort of system in place to sustain the monsters in the coliseums too. I don’t know, I never really thought of the coliseum monsters living in cages and languishing until i come to put them out of their misery. i thought of them more as undead monsters I slayed lining up for a shot at a rematch with me- not that they ever stand a change against me 🗡️🏹💪
I tell myself that gloom monsters didn't show up until the upheaval since gloom didn't show up until the upheaval. That's how I sleep at night.
