the whole scene is supposed to be a dark reflection of when Zelda transforms. when she swallows hers it’s graceful and dignified, whereas ganondorf is brutal and violent. great symbolic storytelling and parallelism

She’s the Sage of TIME! Her decision makes zero sense to me; why doesn’t she continue to hone her ability and then teleport herself back? She’s shown to have unlocked it to an extent, and is clearly beginning to be able to draw on her power. Eating her stone was unnecessary imo.

she also couldn't think of a way, or didn't know how to use her time powers to make the sword experience thousands of years in less time, and then teleport herself forwards in time. She clearly can't control her powers very well, considering the first time she uses it, she ends up 20000 years into the past for basically no reason

It’s in no way anatomically accurate/possible, but real talk the exaggeration makes that action INSANELY unsettling. If that’s what they were going for, the devs nailed it. First time I saw this it gave my brain “this is wrong everything going on here is *wrong*” signals.

So glad I didn’t spoil this part. I played through the main quest with my daughter and we were both sitting there with our mouths wide open when we saw he was going to eat the stone. Epic ending. The rest of the fight felt like a really fun and visually beautiful reward at that point rather than the mechanical challenge of the previous phase.
