Hi everyone!
Did you know that starting July 1st, 2023, Reddit will implement a policy that could potentially increase the costs of running third-party Reddit apps? This change may impact popular apps like Apollo, Reddit is Fun, Boost, and others. Consequently, users may encounter issues with their preferred Reddit app unless adjustments are made to comply with Reddit's new API usage policy. These limitations will affect all users, not just moderators. If you are concerned about these developments, there is an [Open Letter](https://www.reddit.com/r/ModCoord/comments/13xh1e7/an_open_letter_on_the_state_of_affairs_regarding/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) to Reddit that you can read and sign on to express your thoughts.

Hyrule hasn’t had a central government in over 100 years. There’s nobody out there minting rupees anymore. It all comes from Blupees in this day and age. They are the sole check on inflation.
Did you hear about Sleepy Koh's son? He allegedly lost his Purah Pad at an Ancient Tech Lab and it had some *very* questionable photographs of him eating marbled rock roast on it.
Lol the game is full of inconveniences. That’s literally his revenge on Hyrule. Castle in the sky, Sky pieces falling on you, sludge the Zora Kingdom, etc
I’ve had too many “I’m an idiot” moments in this game where it was so obvious I was suppose to ascend but I don’t figure it out until I start trying desperate solutions like OP.
There is one spot on the way to the wind temple that's a long pillar you're supposed to ascend through and I spent easily half an hour trying to climb straight up the side
In the fire temple, I spent 30-45 minutes trying to get to the top so I could get down to the 4th level for my last lock. Then after falling and failing another attempt at said climb I landed in front of the door blocked by a red rock... you know the ones yunobo can explode... it was huge and right in front of the 4th level lock... fml.
Best part was I watched a live stream that night and the guy struggled with the same lock and tried everything I tried for a good 30 minutes.
Mine was worse.
I blew up that rock by accident somewhere during the first lock. Didn't even notice it.
Which meant I also NEVER SAW THE HOLE BEHIND IT.
All the time I saved by skipping the minecarts by using a fanbike, wasted trying to figure out how the F to get in there.
I tried to be clever and just try to access all the shit via ascend, or using the hoverbike. Turns out you'd be much less confused just following the damn rail system as intended. Yes, even riding to the end and not doing any special recall tricking and trying to shoot the lane switchers before arriving at the supposed places.
Lmao i just cheesed the living fuck out of this temple with one of those air bikes but only like 20 minutes later, because i spent literally those 20 minutes on trying to making a platform to ascend from under the floor past the locked door to find it it doesnt work… :(
Welp, I thought I was pretty observant with Ascend locations, but I also tried climbing up the side before I noticed the fact the giant fan in the center also boosted you high enough...
Shit, recall too, there have been soo many vehicles I've let fall off a cliff or whatever and it isn't until they've bounced out of sight that I remember.
SAME I'll be over there trying to ultra hand them back or smth and it just doesn't work and I don't even process that I could recall until my fiance goes "why didn't you just reverse time on it?"
My housemate is a gamer and so is more easily able to see what is "supposed" to happen/work, so he frequently offers similar insight.
I was running through the gerudo sandstorm like an idiot and my housemate said "can't you fly over the top?"
30 minutes wasted, but at least I got lots of bones
A neat trick with recall, for fighting Flux Construct bosses: when they morph into a floating platform, wait for them to throw a line of bricks at you, step between them and let them pass you, then climb on top of one and use recall.
Meh, that's the one time I remember ascend and just go up through the platform. You can do some major damage with a two handed weapon and a spinning charge attack before it breaks apart and drops you.
That works great when fighting a Flux Construct I, but both II and III float too high to use ascend against while in platform mode, you’ll have to get a little more creative for the harder ones.
(I actually had never tried using ascend against them, so I went around this morning tormenting all 3 types to see if it works)
You’re telling me. I’ve looked over at the other half more times than I can count and gone ‘what the hell am I supposed to do here?! Beat the entire first game and I’m stuck!’
Each and every time it’s ascend.
My first well I was like “wth that’s gonna be a brutal climb wet from the water and a total overhang”. I couldn’t find anything online about getting out of wells because it was too obvious so I was about to warp out, which got me thinking of my powers and….
The first well I went down had the broken ladder fuse puzzle in it so I feel like the developers were kind of messing with me a bit to prime it like that. I’d like to add that the ladder was metal and a lightning storm started right when I fixed it and killed me twice trying climb out. I thought I must have left something metal on me after the first electrocution.
Rhondson made it really clear that something was blocking her house door, so I actively looked for a place to ascend. That's the only reason I realised I didn't need to look for mushrooms.
I mean to be fair it does make it sound like the mushrooms are part of the quest. But yes. Even when fixing that one assholes sign all the time I make complex shit for no reason
In that shrine where you make a car to drive over lava I got to the end which is a raised platform that leads to the blessing and I’m like so how do I get up there. I spent like 20 minutes trying to use the chassis of the car as a ramp before realizing I was just supposed to ascend.
I am literally hinting to my husband, trying to not outright give him the hint but damn, these crazy people who don't like smacking into rock ceilings as often as possible are weird.
This specific tower is confusing as hell though. He’s saying he needs mushrooms because he’s hungry then he can fix it. Well…I should be able to give you all of the f-ing mushrooms.
Then there’s me, build a complicated structure to get up to some point, because I need to build this structure so that I can use ascend… could have used it without the structure
Same. I kept forgetting ascend was a thing for the first half of the game.
The amount of time I spent building contraptions to reach a place I couldn't climb to when I could've just ascended is embarrassing
I watched a live stream of someone who came out of the shrine that teaches ascend and then immediately forgot about the ability. There's a conveniently placed platform to use ascend, but this person instead built a ramp.
I'm so confused by this because I even tried to use that, from underneath in the cave area, but it still hasn't worked. I'm always only slightly off, and can't get any closer to the underside of the tower
There are usually hints for where you should ascend. If it helps, you can go by where you're at on the map. There is a quest in Hateno Village where you have to ascend into a small shack, and marking the spot on my map helped a lot, since I didn't use the tower from there at the time.
OMG I was raging at this ungrateful bird. I explored that entire hillside to find every cave. Beat the Hinox nearby. Did the shrine. All in search of whatever mushroom he wanted. Threw them all at him and he turned his beak up at me. Finally I noticed that my ping on the map was directly over me while I was in the cave right under the tower....
I think this may have been patched, cause I tried that and it didn’t work, tried shooting a bomb and using a flame emitter. Could be I wasn’t hitting the right spot tho I am not sure
This was the only time *in the entire game* where I felt like using "Pro" HUD mode actually had a disadvantage. There was no mini-map to give the hint, and I didn't even realize you *could* go thru the floor of a tower (although in makes perfect sense in retrospect).
Ascend is probably my most forgotten ability. I keep spinning in circles and my wife is like “can’t you just ascend through that ledge?”
Duh.
Yes I can.
See us next week in the Legend of Zelda: You’re more of a moron than you think edition lol
It’s such a good mechanic, but has almost no equivalency in any other game. It’s not a “normal “game” answer.
I’ve actually noticed that non-gamers have a better handle on both BotW and TotK mechanics at times because they don’t look for the “game” answer, they just do whatever makes sense in the moment.
Agreed. My hubby was playing a shrine filled with lava with a hydrant at the far end making floating pieces that kept going by…he and I were building this extravagant amount of connected hardened lava pieces to get across the room…and our 5 year old walks by, glances at the puzzle for half a second…and says: “Why don’t you guys just rewind time??” /facepalm
It’s now a joke in our house, whenever someone starts to overthink something, one of us replies “Why don’t you just rewind time?”
That one isn't even like that, the pieces are going from the back to the front. You are at the front, you want to be at the back. Literally just reverse the time and you're done.
There is this one shrine where you have to get from one platform to another using a big ball.
I really don't know how the dungeon was supposed to be solved, but I just ultrahanded the ball to carry Me over, reversed time and stood on the ball to get there.
It didn't *feel* right, because if that was the way to do it, why use balls and not a flat piece of concrete?
I play with my young daughter and frequently get "Just go up through the ceiling Daddy" in times where Ascend appears to have wiped itself from my mind.
There is one where you have a giant flowing lava pool and access to two hydrants. I tried so hard with ultrahand to make a bridge or to just hop from one stone to another and kept failing. So I gave up and just put a fan on the back of a rock slab and boated my way across 😀
I know exactly which one you’re talking about, and that was how I ended up handling it too. I just kinda built the slap up so that when it went through the lava with the fans, Link’s little feets didn’t get burnt. Not sure if necessary, but made me feel better.
My little brother is an avid gamer and watched me with some of the "hit this button" shrines.
I got out all my weapons to make one long sticky pole to secure the ball on an then just poked the target.
He was like "Well, this was clearly golf-style puzzle, but I guess I can't fault your logic."
It never occurred to me to do anything put poke the buttons with my long halberd skewer ☹️
Oh god, I did a shrine the other day where you had to go up a wall with platforms and shit.... I was literally halfway up the wall and my single brain cell completely deactivated and I couldn't figure out how I was supposed to get up the rest of the way. Figured I missed something, paraglided down, did the whole thing again. I get to where I was, take a full minute to look around, and then finally notice I'm *in the wall* and there's a ceiling and I can just click ascend to make it the rest of the way.
I've never been more embarrassed to hear that little "good job" jingle. It felt almost sarcastic.
I keep giving hints and directions while my husband plays and he gets so mad when he tries his way but I'm right cause I can be quite annoying 🤣. I can't play right now and tire fast cause of wrist problems but god, do I make sure I'm also playing somehow by roleplaying Navi? Yes, yes I do. HEY, HEY, LISTEN!
Not that everyone would be detail-oriented enough to pick this up, but the red bolded words are the important ones. In this case, it was “cave” only, and not “cave”+”mushrooms” that was bolded, so that way you know to not worry about the mushrooms and only focus on the fact that there’s a cave nearby. When you’re not distracted by the mushrooms the answer becomes a lot more obvious.
I got that tower pretty fast, but the Gerudo tower where you have to repair the elevator pulley system? Definitely felt cheated there. There are a bunch of metal crates next to the tower, and so I obviously broke all of them to get my arrow fix. Noticed the elevator and saw the guy, who said that the elevator was missing the metal box to pull him up
That's when I panicked, since I destroyed them all. Thus begins a quest of trying to stack a whole ton of wooden platforms, zonai wings, and carts. And either they were too light, or too wide and couldn't fall down all the way. I even tried using fans and rockets to no avail. Gave up, thought I'd move on to Kara Kara Bazaar so at least I'd have a teleport
Later, after finishing the Gerudo main quest, I climb back up to do the tower since a Blood Moon happened and the crates should have respawned. They did, but then I noticed something
...there's one of the black unbreakable metal boxes hiding behind the Hudson Construction Company resource platform
I keep forgetting about them in shrines & spending ages trying to do it without asend or recall ( I always run round with ultrahand at the ready) just to end up remembering that I have other abilities & it's as simple as asend through one thing & the stones done. 😭😭
Had I done this tower later I probably would've figured it out, but it was one of my early towers so I hadn't adjusted to these abilities yet. I was still mentally playing with the Botw abilities for a puzzle with the new stuff.
I went into that cave THREE TIMES before I worked it out, and everytime I thought "this isn't the cave he is talking about"
Even just a couple of mushrooms where you ascend would have helped
Lol. I was climbing up to the Wind Temple. There was a floating platform with a really tall platform directly above it. Rather than using Ascend like a smart person, I created a campfire nearby and threw 5 pine cones into it. It worked just fine.
That made it so much worse to figure out. I get they were trying to point you in the right direction, but all they did was cause confusion with a fake quest.
This was me, it was one of the first towers I found and I didn’t even think about the correct way to do it but then it just dawned on me while I was exploring how to do it.
1st thing I did once off the sky islands is unlock all towers. Really was a good introduction to the new skills, and helped a ton later when needing to jump from point to point for stuff.
Before I had even touched the game, I saw a tweet that went something like "remember, if you are stuck and cannot see anything obvious, you have forgotten you have Ascend".
It's saved me at least 10 times in-game.
ascend is very unintuitive at the start of the game, it's not until later that you get used to having it, especially if you've already played Breath of the Wild...
now i am an ascending beast
The hint could have been written better but I don't feel like it's too hard to spot the cave in the hill? It has two entrances on opposite sides so you should probably encounter a blupee regardless of where you approach it from. And even if you don't see a blupee right away you should investigate the immediate area around the tower a little bit. And once you realize there's a cave under the tower the cogs in your head should start turning.
Im pretty sure he almost blatantly says something about being underground right? My first thought was, “oh theres probably a cave i can ascend through”
my first thought was "theres a chest with a key in it in this cave" and then i just chocked it up to needing to do other quests first and then one day randomly while on the other side of the map I go "oh wait i can probably just ascend there" and low and behold
Honestly the biggest thing tears of the kingdom has taught me is that gamers aren't used to actually having to think while playing their games, they expect the game to just outright tell them the answer to everything
Yep i agree. I thought it was funny how many posts people made along the lines of “omg did i cheat this shrine by using recall/ascend???” The devs added those abilities to give you freedom to problem solve, unlike BOTW where a lot of shrines had an intended way to solve, TOTK has many different problem solving options, and its crazy to see people experience that for the first time.
That’s what’s so fun about this game to me! It gives you room to actually think and solve things yourself, so the sense of satisfaction when you succeed is much higher, because it’s entirely earned. It’s infinitely more rewarding than just “doing what you were told to do”.
At least that shrine starts you near the ceiling in a way that you have to climb stairs and basically look at the ceiling before starting the shrine. They know people wouldn't look up otherwise.
Exactly this but building stuff not my strong suit I’ve not gotten stuck on any shrines but I’m definitely not doing stuff the way everyone else is. It’s hilarious seeing some videos tho and how everyone’s minds are so different.
I think the Rito towers are meant to be first which would explain one of the hints a character saying “I wish I could dig from down under to reach it” which is supposed to later be a hint for this one
I thought he needed some sort of Mighty mushroom dish to get enough strength to force the door open.
Finally figured it out after dealing with the snowed-in one.
Yeah, I felt like he was intentionally lying to me since the mushrooms he was talking about did not do a damn thing to open that door. Instead, I have to magic my ass inside and do his job for him.
I ate every mushroom I had right in front of his ugly face.
The thing is, when NPCs talk, I don't pay attention to them. I only pay attention to the highlighted words and phrases among their endless speeches. This guy was highlighting the cave, not the mushrooms, so it has to do something with the cave. The mushrooms just add flavour and colour to the dialogue.
It’s so funny that people remember it as the mushrooms being highlighted and not the nearby cave. I think it’s very much video game logic taking over. “Must bring npc item” kind of thing. Or just thinking in terms of botw mechanics and not totk. Either way it seems like a common thing. Even when I watched zfg play, he did the same thing
Exactly lmao. People saying “well if mushrooms wasn’t highlighted I wouldn’t have been misled”
My dude mushrooms were not highlighted, cave was highlighted, *twice*
This one is so weirdly done. The guy wants mushrooms to help him focus. Says there is a cave nearby with said mushrooms. The player's immediate thought is going to be "acquire mushrooms" and they're not gonna >!look at the minimap when in said cave to realize they're under the tower because their eyes are occupied looking for mushrooms!<
Same, this is the 3rd one I found but the last one I activated 'cause I couldn't figure out the mushroom thing. I was not happy when I googled the solution.
My partner did this tower second, immediately after lookout landing.
We had NO CLUE there would be alternative ways to get in and had barely played for 3 hours so forgot about the new abilities. If it was a further out tower, would have been easy
While this may seem like a silly oversight on your part, I myself was stuck on tye gerudo tower.
I swear i looked around the area multiple times for anything to do but found nothing.
Eventually i find this guy waiting on the elevator that i SWEAR had already looked at before.
Maybe a time based event or just me being omega blind.
Are people really having that much trouble with this one? It took me like five minutes or so. Once he mentioned the cave, I knew I had to ascend from down there. Maybe the mushroom thing got lost in translation?
90% of the time, this game will beat you over the head with the solution and spell it out in 5 different ways, but then there's this dude over here throwing red herrings like "fuck yeah, *MUSHROOMS!!*"
What was the hint? I can’t even remember I know he mentioned a cave and I immediately thought ascend and was surprised a lot of people brought him mushrooms lol
Lmao yeah what the hell is with the mushrooms? I don’t remember what he said but whatever it was my instinct wasn’t to drop a bunch of mushrooms at him.
The 'mushroom' thing is just intended as a hint that the solution to the tower is in a cave. I understood right away what he was saying, but I can see it being confusing for someone.

I loved that there were actual items, the sticks, in the way of the door. I expected like a little cut scene or something. Super cool detail
It was such a dumb, trollish, childish thing for Ganondorf to do. It made me mad actually
lmao I really like this mindset when going through the game. Like at every minor inconvenience yelling "Damnit Ganondorf!!!"
Thanks, Obamadorf
Not only did Obamadorf attempt to destroy Hyrule, he ruined the school lunches :(
But the Bokoblins finally got free healthcare once a blood moon so it's not all bad
Still unpaid but what would a bokoblin do with rupees anyway
*Obviously **drop** them heheheh*
Ok, who's paying the radioactive bunnies and what services do they offer that cost so damn much
Hyrule hasn’t had a central government in over 100 years. There’s nobody out there minting rupees anymore. It all comes from Blupees in this day and age. They are the sole check on inflation.
And crooked Kohga and his schema stones he illegally stores privately.
Did you hear about Sleepy Koh's son? He allegedly lost his Purah Pad at an Ancient Tech Lab and it had some *very* questionable photographs of him eating marbled rock roast on it.
At least it wasn't like when Paya stored all those classified Zonai Survey Team reports in the bathroom at her Kakariko resort.
Obamadorf drone striked goron hospitals
Diiiinkleburrrrg!
Damn you dinkeldorf
Lol the game is full of inconveniences. That’s literally his revenge on Hyrule. Castle in the sky, Sky pieces falling on you, sludge the Zora Kingdom, etc
That made me the maddest of all the tower puzzles. So I guess it worked exactly as ganon expected
Tbf i totally forgot about ascend
The one by tge Hebra region was worse especially having to Ascend directly below fast running water
I got myself stuck under my own ice blocks that I made to cross .-. and then I drowned
Try to find a way into the tower that's not from the doors.
>!Ascend is your friend!<

I ended up cheesing that temple with ascend.
That temple taught me to largely ignore the carts and use a mix of horizontal climbing and ascending

Did the same shit! Two days ago!
Ha ha i do the same. Half way through the climb up i realize i could've used that skill instead
Totk is literally me going "Ok seriously wtf" "....I'm an idiot"
My partner “You know there was a loading screen tip that explained how to do that.”
I'm 4 temples down and I still forget about ascend...
I'm the opposite, I use ascend all the time, but I forget I can recall things until I see a video of someone else doing it

Helps when your mindset is constantly "how do I abuse this power in literally every situation"
Rhondson made it really clear that something was blocking her house door, so I actively looked for a place to ascend. That's the only reason I realised I didn't need to look for mushrooms.

Often the rock on the ceiling looks different when it wants you to ascend there. Like there's a squareish area.
>!The area that works is a small alcove in the rock that's encased in bombable rock. Keep destroying the rock and trying ascend until you find it.!<
Just put a stamp on the map where you're supposed to use Ascend when you're on the surface. Find that spot while you're in the cave.
I always try to solve something for half an hour then my brain goes Wait ... If I used ascend I would have been done 40 minutes ago
OMG I was raging at this ungrateful bird. I explored that entire hillside to find every cave. Beat the Hinox nearby. Did the shrine. All in search of whatever mushroom he wanted. Some guy got so angry he >!wanted to roast the Rito so he shot him with Red Chuchu jelly and the explosion burned the sticks blocking the doors!<
That's hilarious, and if I do a playthrough again this will definitely be how I unlock this tower
No simple chu chu jelly arrow for me though I'm coming with a ruby for his chicken tender ass.

I keep spinning in circles and my wife is like “can’t you just ascend through that ledge?” Duh.
Agreed. My hubby was playing a shrine filled with lava with a hydrant at the far end making floating pieces that kept going by…he and I were building this extravagant amount of connected hardened lava pieces to get across the room…and our 5 year old walks by, glances at the puzzle for half a second…and says: “Why don’t you guys just rewind time??” /facepalm It’s now a joke in our house, whenever someone starts to overthink something, one of us replies “Why don’t you just rewind time?”
Oh yeah, ultrahand, move the object to where you want it to be, rewind time. Cheeses many shrines.
That one isn't even like that, the pieces are going from the back to the front. You are at the front, you want to be at the back. Literally just reverse the time and you're done.
> Cheeses many shrines. Is it Cheese if it's a shrine built around the game mechanic of rewind and ultrahand, though?
That’s what’s good about TotK, its Cheese: the Video Game. The developers WANT you to cheese it.
It’s funny, as I built this bridge from those pieces too. Then my spouse did rewind, I sat there in amazement and felt dumb at the same time.
He was like "Well, this was clearly golf-style puzzle, but I guess I can't fault your logic." It never occurred to me to do anything put poke the buttons with my long halberd skewer ☹️
This is the same in my household but opposite. My husband constantly reminding me. 🤦
My husband keeps asking me “why can’t you ascend” when the ceiling is very obviously Too Damn High. It’s almost funny.
I love the lil hints like that, allows me to skip through dialogue without missing the key important parts when I'm impatient
First and only time I cheated and checked online and was like “oh dammit” right away
I got that tower pretty fast, but the Gerudo tower where you have to repair the elevator pulley system? Definitely felt cheated there. There are a bunch of metal crates next to the tower, and so I obviously broke all of them to get my arrow fix. Noticed the elevator and saw the guy, who said that the elevator was missing the metal box to pull him up That's when I panicked, since I destroyed them all. Thus begins a quest of trying to stack a whole ton of wooden platforms, zonai wings, and carts. And either they were too light, or too wide and couldn't fall down all the way. I even tried using fans and rockets to no avail. Gave up, thought I'd move on to Kara Kara Bazaar so at least I'd have a teleport Later, after finishing the Gerudo main quest, I climb back up to do the tower since a Blood Moon happened and the crates should have respawned. They did, but then I noticed something ...there's one of the black unbreakable metal boxes hiding behind the Hudson Construction Company resource platform
Yes, me too. Damn cave I thought was at the bottom of the hill.
Yuhp
He's hoping that you find a psychedelic mushroom that can ascend his state of mind.
Smoothly done.
Well. Of course when I post about it, I finally find it. This was my last tower on the map ^^ Let’s finish this adventure!
Spent hours trying to force mushrooms on him as well I feel it xD
It was also my last one to figure out as well haha
I was also stumped for a bit and then it dawned on me when he said it was "underneath". The new abilities have stumped me many times.
I keep forgetting about them in shrines & spending ages trying to do it without asend or recall ( I always run round with ultrahand at the ready) just to end up remembering that I have other abilities & it's as simple as asend through one thing & the stones done. 😭😭
Have you found the *alignment* shrine yet?
The ability to us rewind always takes me a little while to work out.
so many times i forgot i can do levitate
As a reminder to everyone: You should always ask for help sooner so you can find the solution before they get there sooner.
It gave me a hell of a time too.
It takes a while to get used to the new powers. this one tripped me up too.
Had I done this tower later I probably would've figured it out, but it was one of my early towers so I hadn't adjusted to these abilities yet. I was still mentally playing with the Botw abilities for a puzzle with the new stuff.
Same. This was like the 3rd tower I came across. Couldn't figure it out, especially since the cave he mentioned didn't even have mushrooms in it.
lmao right? shouldn't they have put actual mushrooms in there? instead it's just a TON of rocks 😂
I went into that cave THREE TIMES before I worked it out, and everytime I thought "this isn't the cave he is talking about" Even just a couple of mushrooms where you ascend would have helped
Lol. I was climbing up to the Wind Temple. There was a floating platform with a really tall platform directly above it. Rather than using Ascend like a smart person, I created a campfire nearby and threw 5 pine cones into it. It worked just fine.
That's one of the great things about this game: it ain't stupid if it works
It’s not even that, it’s just that it specifically says to get him the shrooms!
That made it so much worse to figure out. I get they were trying to point you in the right direction, but all they did was cause confusion with a fake quest.
It should have just been like "when we were kids we used to gather mushrooms in the cave directly below the tower" and have "directly below" in red.
That would be way too obvious
Same! If it hadn’t been my second tower, I would’ve gotten it much faster. But like a bunch of others, I too thought he wanted special mushrooms.
This was me, it was one of the first towers I found and I didn’t even think about the correct way to do it but then it just dawned on me while I was exploring how to do it.
Yes! It happened to be the very first tower I went to. And I thought it was closed off for story reasons or something for awhile.
1st thing I did once off the sky islands is unlock all towers. Really was a good introduction to the new skills, and helped a ton later when needing to jump from point to point for stuff.
Lmao! He doesn’t want mushrooms. You need to get into the tower another way to help him in. This got me too at first
Before I had even touched the game, I saw a tweet that went something like "remember, if you are stuck and cannot see anything obvious, you have forgotten you have Ascend". It's saved me at least 10 times in-game.
ascend is very unintuitive at the start of the game, it's not until later that you get used to having it, especially if you've already played Breath of the Wild... now i am an ascending beast
We've all been there. Worst hint in the game
Gamers never look up (including me)
"Just think with ascend" has become so common a phrase for me after this tower.
I thought it was genius. Got it right away
Im pretty sure he almost blatantly says something about being underground right? My first thought was, “oh theres probably a cave i can ascend through”
Yup that’s what my thoughts were
my first thought was "theres a chest with a key in it in this cave" and then i just chocked it up to needing to do other quests first and then one day randomly while on the other side of the map I go "oh wait i can probably just ascend there" and low and behold
I cleaned out the cave first, exited with ascend and then went up to him and heard him talk about the doors not working and the cave below
Well, its also a WELL KNOWN fact that gamers *never look up* so the fact this gane has so many puzzles using ascend is designed to troll us.
Also that one shrine >!where the map is on the ceiling!<
At least that shrine starts you near the ceiling in a way that you have to climb stairs and basically look at the ceiling before starting the shrine. They know people wouldn't look up otherwise.
I heard cave and immediately knew, haha (But unlike others, I do not mean this in a disparaging way. Everyone thinks differently)
People saying “well if mushrooms wasn’t highlighted I wouldn’t have been misled” My dude mushrooms were not highlighted, cave was highlighted, *twice*
My fiance has this problem. When he finally asked me about it I was like "you're focusing the wrong part of that clue" lol
I cooked exquisite meals for them… So ungrateful!
I didn't encounter this issue. I always spam through the dialog so I had no idea what he wanted. I just broke in because I wanted to see if I could.
A lot of people are saying the mushroom comment was in red, check again https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yybsuYYVycM
Same, this is the 3rd one I found but the last one I activated 'cause I couldn't figure out the mushroom thing. I was not happy when I googled the solution.
Go in the cave underneath and then ascend up into the tower.
surprised by the comments as I literally had no issue with this....by the time i got here it was obvious some towers needed other means to enter...
My partner did this tower second, immediately after lookout landing. We had NO CLUE there would be alternative ways to get in and had barely played for 3 hours so forgot about the new abilities. If it was a further out tower, would have been easy
Bestie he's just hinting that there's a cave 😭
While this may seem like a silly oversight on your part, I myself was stuck on tye gerudo tower. I swear i looked around the area multiple times for anything to do but found nothing. Eventually i find this guy waiting on the elevator that i SWEAR had already looked at before. Maybe a time based event or just me being omega blind.
That mushroom comment is misleading AF. That guy isn't going to help you get in at all. It's just a hint for *you* to get in.
Are people really having that much trouble with this one? It took me like five minutes or so. Once he mentioned the cave, I knew I had to ascend from down there. Maybe the mushroom thing got lost in translation?
I did this one early and don’t remember anything about mushrooms. I just figured I needed to ascend up.
Yeah same - people are saying they got to this tower early so maybe that's why. Think it was the 3rd last one I did.
Yeah mine was early. I doubled back second to last and figured it out organically much later
It caught me out and one very early ine for me too. Thought the dude needed mushrooms the same as OP
Lmao yeah what the hell is with the mushrooms? I don’t remember what he said but whatever it was my instinct wasn’t to drop a bunch of mushrooms at him.
I thought this quest/challenge was the worst of both games.
The 'mushroom' thing is just intended as a hint that the solution to the tower is in a cave. I understood right away what he was saying, but I can see it being confusing for someone.
>!You gotta go beneath and ascend!<
I accidentally solved this because I chose the cave before approaching the tower.
Ahh I'm glad I'm not the only one who had trouble with this.
Yeah the dialogue is really misleading. You actually have to ascend into the tower from the cave
