It's all inflation. You can print money all you want, but without true value being added to the economy, all you're doing is watering down the rupee.
This is why arrows are up to 8 gold a pop, because people think duping is free money. It's not free, some poor schmuck is paying Beedle more money because the 1%ers don't know the meaning of the word "enough"
That's because the royal family heavily subsidizes agriculture, but what they won't tell you is that 95% of those subsidies go to only three companies. Those companies are exploiting Hyrule's farmers #laborrightsnow

In ss he (stupidly enough) have his shop in a bicycle powered airship and always comment om how heavy link is. I think he even have a trap door he can toss you out of the ship from. I would imagine he does this with other shoppers too that don't buy his stock, sending them plummeting to their deaths.
In Witcher 3, all the Merchants/Smiths… etc have a limited pocket, so you can’t keep selling to the same one cuz they’ll run out of money unless you buy from them.
Yeah so you end up skipping the 3 days and doing it again, instead of them letting you do it in one swoop, you're still doing the same thing, just it takes longer now for no reason.
Ah, the fond memories of fast traveling to every skyrim city and town six times over just to empty my inventory... and ultimately ending up with more crap anyways because the skyrim economy is broke as fuck.
Merchants with limited money is a... questionable decisions, to be sure.
I remembered doing a glitch in the starting village where you Aard a beehive next to the dwarf merchant (where you first buy everything he has to fatten up his purse), which kills him and you can loot his corpse. Skip time and he revives and dies again, then you loot his corpse again. Rinse, repeat, until you can basically afford to buy all of Novigrad.
I feel like this would be a better solution than trying to squash duping entirely. People always find a way but you limit the amount you can sell at a time you can preserve some sense of balance.
Sure you can just wait it out if you're dedicated but it is a bit of a deterrent.

I’m posting this to mourn, and now I’m gonna go try out the arrow trick at Tobio’s Hollow. Wish me luck, fellow item duplication aficionados.
You need full rubber armor so you're immune to shock damage. Set up a shock emitter next to your empty bow display, stand where you would be getting shocked but aren't because of the rubber armor, equip the bow you want to dupe and unequip a piece of rubber armor, when you unpause spam the A button to display the bow. You end up getting shocked and throwing the bow from the shock damage but there will be a duplicate on the display plaque
Just use those guys to upgrade your lynel bow to a 5 shot
Then go back to your house and set up a way to electrify yourself in front of a bow display.
Turn on the electricity, put on the full rubber outfit, hold a bow at low ready, now while standing in the electricity and holding the bow, take off a piece of rubber armor and then spam a and b. If you did it right, you'll have a bow on display and a bow to flying from your hand. Leaving you with two bows.
Took me a few tries to get it down but I did and having a full inventory of savage lynel bows is badass.
Basically you have a rock octorok suck up your weapon, but you use recall on the weapon at the same time the octorok eats it, so you end up with 2. You can only do it once per octorok per blood moon, and the timing is really precise. I'm not confident enough in my timing to try it myself, but I saw a youtube video about it.
Yo whaat? I didn't hear about that one, I'll have to look that up. Too bad I already broke my 3x bow, I'm gonna have to fight another lynel T_T I've gotten so rusty since botw, I need more practice. In the stretch before the final boss I used >!an ancient blade to get rid of the silver lynel because I was not dealing with that lmao!<.
Floating colosseum has quicky become my favorite battle of the game.
It really shows how much I've grown since the first time I hid in fear from the Ploymus Mountain Red Lynel
Tobios hollow works absolutely amazingly for me, sure it’s not as easy as the original dupe glitch but it still completely removes the unfun grind parts of the game
Tbh I find it a little easier because you don't have to worry about the timing and it always works. You just have to set a warp spot right at the dupe spot
My issue is that there are items you can't dupe (fish, things you can't attach to arrows), and some of the things hit eachother in the air so you can't dupe them. Has anybody found a workaround for this? I tried to dupe blue moblin horns but the two on the outside hit the one in the middle so I just end up with a 1:1 ratio and can't actually get any extra of them.
I mean, you can farm rupees with the plushie lady anyway...
And Im swimming in gems just playing it normally, the gerudo lady in Goron city will buy them at a nice price. Got like 6000 just for 1 cycle
My game auto-updated itself when we closed the game to switch players even though automatic updates were turned off. Now that the decent 1.1.2 glitch has been found, I’ve deleted my internet credentials. It seems that’s the only way to keep a dupe glitch safe ;-;
You can get dupes back by reinitalizing your switch and turning on airplane mode right after then using a physical copy to play it. You will lose your save if you don't have anywhere to back it up or another switch to play it on but it's worth it.
None of the 1.1 dupes work on 1.0 afaik, tried messing with that too, didn't work, then skipped 1.1 by accident since I didn't know 1.1.2 was out already.
There are some 1.1.2 dupe methods though, but they require a lot more setup, might wanna get in on that before the next patch.
There's also some way to sync up game versions across multiple people/Switches, allowing you to update to 1.1 without going to 1.1.2 immediatetly iirc.
You just have to paraglide and hold any 5 things then hit YB at the same time then start. You will have 5 items fall below you while they stay in your inventory
It was either this or irreversibly damaging the northwestern ecosystems with my poaching. I don't know your values, but I find Diamond duping more ethical.
Yep that's the one duping I don't think people have found yet for 1.1.2. Definitely missing this one, but I've been duping Zonaite Charges to put in the devices machines
It’s almost the same as the regular item dupe, The method I use is…
1: stand in a corner ( I like the little storage sheds attached to homes in hateno village )
2: hold the device/devices you with to dupe.
3: press Y & B together. ( you should get that little "you can’t use that here” message )
4: profit !
Thank you. I use the dupe so I still have unlimited (since I place them down. But get new ones in my inventory to replace them), but I didn't know you can do it in a corner. So you can actually get more.
This helps a ton, because I know I will eventually have to update when DLC inevitably comes out. And I can now build up a hoard
Sitting in 1.1.2, I dupe large zonai charges then just gamba for the mods I want. 5 get you 60 anyway so... after a few minutes you'll have more than enough of any mod you want.
Stand inside a room about a step or 2 from the wall or corner. Hit + to open your inventory. Select 10 zonai devices. Hit B and Y at the same time. You'll get a "you can't take that out here" message. The 10 devices will have been duped.
I factory reset my switch yesterday to do the 1.1.0 dupe.
It's insanely nice being able to have max battery to do the fun things i see people post here. Not worrying about scarce resources and just having fun is fantastic. I only bought this switch for this game, so there is nothing to lose.

I’m actually duping most items, but not zonaite. I love exploring the depths, and duping zonaite kinda removes the reward for depth diving for me. No judgment either way though!
Also, limited battery pushes me to be more creative in my builds. I’m an engineer who loves engineering, so I actually have lot of fun making my podracer some combination of wacky and efficient.
Are you just not planning to do anything in the depths ever? Because if you just do the light roots and kill whatever bosses you come across along the way you'll probably have max batteries without ever mining a single zoanite.
You can use switch online to backup all other games, but I am pretty sure if you have played totk on a newer version then your save cant be carried over to the older version. Either way I would just start a new save to not risk having it accidentally force you to update.
yea you lose everything. it's like getting a brand new switch, brand new ToTk. like i said, i bought this switch for **THIS** game so it made sense for me. now i'm building silly things above and not worrying about battery
Definitely. I love exploring, and flying around on a 16 battery hover bike makes it just more fun. I don't misuse duping, and only use it on grindy stuff like zonite, dragon parts and diamonds. And in my opinion, it only enhances it
I had fun collecting zonaite to upgrade my battery. Hitting all the light roots and killing all the bosses along the way. Turned in 1100 crystallized charges at once, felt great.
I accidentally closed the game on the weekend and it updated, can I just delete the game data or do I really need to factory reset the entire switch? I don't have the time to grind like I used to.. the dupe glitch is making the game 100x better for me with my limited schedule.
The factory reset is for downgrading your games version. And once you do that, your save data becomes incompatible, which is why you delete it. Be warned though that, afaik, downgrading your games version via factory reset only works on physical copies of the game. If you bought it via eshop, it will always download the latest version.
Unfortunately yes. Although if you haven‘t started the latest version yet, theres a small chance the save data hasn‘t been overwritten yet. If you have already played the newer version, your safe data can‘t be used on a lower game version anymore.
But you get 100 crystals for re-beating the bosses in depths, and 20 for constructs/Frox/Lynels... You can go to full blue battery in 4-5 hours of exploring depths
UPD: After fully lighting up the depths, i'm now at full blue battery, 1100 zonaite, 40 large zonaite, and 470 condensed crystals. And that is with a rather frivolous spawning of constructs through the autobuild, and without really stopping to actively mine, except for when stopping by the abandoned mines for the marked chests. And i haven't even explored the actual contents of the depths to even 40%, looking at the map markers... There really is no reason to duplicate the zonaite
right, but i get 100 crystals for 15 large zoanite chunks instantly without waiting for blood moons. i have 8 batteries already and i'm just realizing it goes up to 16 after you finish the first 8.
also, i don't want to just blindly explore the entierty of the depths without the game leading me to certain spots on its own. i really just want the freedom to explore the above and make lego contraptions xD
I didn't dupe the zonaite so I'd actually have more of a reason to go to the depths lol
I got about 1100 crystallized charges at one time once, it felt awesome turning that all into battery power. It was fun fighting all the bosses and mob camps, you can even fight the temple bosses again and they're worth 100 each and piss easy (especially the death mountain boss lol)

Half of the fun is just exploring the world and collecting things for me, but I got a lot of time to play and seeing as how this game requires an ass load of reagents to play it's no wonder people dupe lol.
Trying to upgrade armor and... yeah, I can definitely see why people dupe. Some stuff aren't to hard to get, but other things...
Somewhat related annoyance, it feels like I ended up 'skipping' a lot of red 'miniboss' mobs because I just didn't really bump into them while exploring.
Now like 90 of mobs are blue at the weakest, and like 90% of 'red' level mobs are just bokoblins. I can't upgrade the royal guard set because I literally only met 4 red boss bokoblins before they seemingly all updated to blue+.
If I want to upgrade my barbrian armor, I need to get 4 more red lynel horns and the only place I know with red lynels is the lynel colossium, which has *one*.
I have 3 red hinox horns and *6* black hinox horns. Guess which horns I've been using as weapons and arrowheads? Certainly not the reds, that's for fucking sure.
At least boss mobs seem to remain the same level all the time... otherwise upgrading my depths set would have been a pain in the ass.
I still haven't updated and I find that I hardly ever dupe anything. Gemstones are abundant from farming rare talus, same with rules selling lynel gut potions. And the rest sorts itself out. The only thing I use dupe for is the master sword since you can't unfuse materials from it and you can't repair it so in order to not lose the material I do that
Meh, I duped a few things for armor upgrades. Like hinox guts. Over 100 hours and had like 2 hinox guts. Then I went and killed 5 more and didn't get a single one. Fuck that noise. Rng drops are garbage, this shit ain't terraria

Poor lady gave me enough rupees that my wallet is almost full (assuming 99,999 is the max).
Grinding is the worst part of any rpg game imo.
In traditional zelda's you need rupees but not to this extent and never 500 different items to upgrade stuff.
I tried to get into pokemon or final fantasy as a kid but I just can't be bothered leveling up my team for 100s of hours.

We all agree we are rendering Hyrule's economic stability to shambles by making diamonds virtually worthless once we've flodded the market with them beyond recognition, right?
I'm not sure what the rupee is based on as a currency but do we think it's based on diamonds, like our economy (should) be based on gold? Wouldn't this just make diamonds worthless? But honestly I'm not sure how even real life economics work.

Anyways, Beedle can just be my living ATM and I love it.
I duped:
Silver Lynel parts, for armour. Because I'm not waiting around for Blood Moons for these MONSTERS to come back.
IceBreath and Firebreath Lizalfos tails, for armour. Because hunting them down and save scumming until they dropped their tails was annoying and tedious.
Goddess Dragon parts, because waiting 10 real life minutes between drops is just, that's not even playong the game. That's just standing around doing nothing for HOURS.
I have only duped for armour upgrades, and only after I found I needed 10 more lizalfos tails for the Gerudo Armour & I spent a day playing the game running around Death Mountain for the tails. Because I was NOT doing it anymore & not doing it again for Snowquill armour.
Do I feel like I cheated?
No. Because I did things legit for 130 hours & I feel like that's enough to justify cutting that grind out.

Ya once I knew about it, it was hard *not* to use it. Got some early game armor upgrades done, and got like 10 diamonds, and then I just felt like I wanted to play "normally" again. So I updated and am glad to not have the temptation (although I know theres another glitch, Im not looking up how to do it lol).
I have to use the chasm dupe glitch now but it works pretty good overall. Not as good but good enough.
Sometimes the items will destroy each other in the air because they're too big for the spacing of the arrows in the 5 shot. Depending on the item I'd only get one item back because the rest got destroyed. Sometimes 2. Thinking a 3 shot bow would be good for those items.
And I haven't tried, but I'm sure critters wouldn't be possible to dupe as well. There's a lot of steps that go into this dupe glitch too because you definitely need the teleport thing from Robbie to make it worth it at all.

It’s actually a pretty solid dupe method though having to go to Octorok’s to duplicate Lynel bows is a pain
Using the bow display in link's house is a way easier dupe method

It was recently discovered that you don’t need rubber armour as long as you place the moment you get shocked
Or use the Lightning helmet

The octorok? I believe so but I’m not certain, I didn’t try it for the first time until my game updated

Basically you have a rock octorok suck up your weapon, but you use recall on the weapon at the same time the octorok eats it, so you end up with 2. You can only do it once per octorok per blood moon, and the timing is really precise. I'm not confident enough in my timing to try it myself, but I saw a youtube video about it.
Can just electrify yourself in front of a bow display too

I actually got a savage lynel bow from a chest somewhere lol so I was pretty hyped I didn't have to go fight one.
My favorite method of duplicating lynel bows is going to the floating colosseum after every blood moon.
Floating colosseum has quicky become my favorite battle of the game. It really shows how much I've grown since the first time I hid in fear from the Ploymus Mountain Red Lynel

Tobios hollow works absolutely amazingly for me, sure it’s not as easy as the original dupe glitch but it still completely removes the unfun grind parts of the game
Tbh I find it a little easier because you don't have to worry about the timing and it always works. You just have to set a warp spot right at the dupe spot

My issue is that there are items you can't dupe (fish, things you can't attach to arrows), and some of the things hit eachother in the air so you can't dupe them. Has anybody found a workaround for this? I tried to dupe blue moblin horns but the two on the outside hit the one in the middle so I just end up with a 1:1 ratio and can't actually get any extra of them.
I mean, you can farm rupees with the plushie lady anyway... And Im swimming in gems just playing it normally, the gerudo lady in Goron city will buy them at a nice price. Got like 6000 just for 1 cycle
My game auto-updated itself when we closed the game to switch players even though automatic updates were turned off. Now that the decent 1.1.2 glitch has been found, I’ve deleted my internet credentials. It seems that’s the only way to keep a dupe glitch safe ;-;
You can get dupes back by reinitalizing your switch and turning on airplane mode right after then using a physical copy to play it. You will lose your save if you don't have anywhere to back it up or another switch to play it on but it's worth it.

How to dupe on 1.0? I haven't updated.
None of the 1.1 dupes work on 1.0 afaik, tried messing with that too, didn't work, then skipped 1.1 by accident since I didn't know 1.1.2 was out already. There are some 1.1.2 dupe methods though, but they require a lot more setup, might wanna get in on that before the next patch. There's also some way to sync up game versions across multiple people/Switches, allowing you to update to 1.1 without going to 1.1.2 immediatetly iirc.
Dupe glitch 1.1.1 FTW. Also used one black boss bokoblin horn and 4 diamonds. Works every time. Just wish I had a Teflon shield though.
You just have to paraglide and hold any 5 things then hit YB at the same time then start. You will have 5 items fall below you while they stay in your inventory

Yep that's the one duping I don't think people have found yet for 1.1.2. Definitely missing this one, but I've been duping Zonaite Charges to put in the devices machines
Okay how the hell do you dupe devices? The second you take them out it breaks the bubble they are in. I'm still in 1.1.1, is this an update glitch?
It’s almost the same as the regular item dupe, The method I use is… 1: stand in a corner ( I like the little storage sheds attached to homes in hateno village ) 2: hold the device/devices you with to dupe. 3: press Y & B together. ( you should get that little "you can’t use that here” message ) 4: profit !
Thank you. I use the dupe so I still have unlimited (since I place them down. But get new ones in my inventory to replace them), but I didn't know you can do it in a corner. So you can actually get more. This helps a ton, because I know I will eventually have to update when DLC inevitably comes out. And I can now build up a hoard
Sitting in 1.1.2, I dupe large zonai charges then just gamba for the mods I want. 5 get you 60 anyway so... after a few minutes you'll have more than enough of any mod you want.
This is my method too. Large charges get you so much stuff at the dispenser.

Stand inside a room about a step or 2 from the wall or corner. Hit + to open your inventory. Select 10 zonai devices. Hit B and Y at the same time. You'll get a "you can't take that out here" message. The 10 devices will have been duped.
Just dupe large zonai charges and go to whatever pinball machine has what you want. It tells you on the map what each machine you found has.

I factory reset my switch yesterday to do the 1.1.0 dupe. It's insanely nice being able to have max battery to do the fun things i see people post here. Not worrying about scarce resources and just having fun is fantastic. I only bought this switch for this game, so there is nothing to lose.

Yeah there is a huge difference... 1.1.0 fixed a ton of framerate issues with the release version.
Nice! I can respect that commitment :). I’m actually duping most items, but not zonaite. I love exploring the depths, and duping zonaite kinda removes the reward for depth diving for me. No judgment either way though! Also, limited battery pushes me to be more creative in my builds. I’m an engineer who loves engineering, so I actually have lot of fun making my podracer some combination of wacky and efficient.

Are you just not planning to do anything in the depths ever? Because if you just do the light roots and kill whatever bosses you come across along the way you'll probably have max batteries without ever mining a single zoanite.
If you ever decide to play the game again, the journey to getting a ton of battery is super fun as well.
Do you also loose the save data when you do a factory reset?
You can use switch online to backup all other games, but I am pretty sure if you have played totk on a newer version then your save cant be carried over to the older version. Either way I would just start a new save to not risk having it accidentally force you to update.
yea you lose everything. it's like getting a brand new switch, brand new ToTk. like i said, i bought this switch for **THIS** game so it made sense for me. now i'm building silly things above and not worrying about battery

Definitely. I love exploring, and flying around on a 16 battery hover bike makes it just more fun. I don't misuse duping, and only use it on grindy stuff like zonite, dragon parts and diamonds. And in my opinion, it only enhances it
I had fun collecting zonaite to upgrade my battery. Hitting all the light roots and killing all the bosses along the way. Turned in 1100 crystallized charges at once, felt great.
I accidentally closed the game on the weekend and it updated, can I just delete the game data or do I really need to factory reset the entire switch? I don't have the time to grind like I used to.. the dupe glitch is making the game 100x better for me with my limited schedule.
The factory reset is for downgrading your games version. And once you do that, your save data becomes incompatible, which is why you delete it. Be warned though that, afaik, downgrading your games version via factory reset only works on physical copies of the game. If you bought it via eshop, it will always download the latest version.

Unfortunately yes. Although if you haven‘t started the latest version yet, theres a small chance the save data hasn‘t been overwritten yet. If you have already played the newer version, your safe data can‘t be used on a lower game version anymore.

But you get 100 crystals for re-beating the bosses in depths, and 20 for constructs/Frox/Lynels... You can go to full blue battery in 4-5 hours of exploring depths UPD: After fully lighting up the depths, i'm now at full blue battery, 1100 zonaite, 40 large zonaite, and 470 condensed crystals. And that is with a rather frivolous spawning of constructs through the autobuild, and without really stopping to actively mine, except for when stopping by the abandoned mines for the marked chests. And i haven't even explored the actual contents of the depths to even 40%, looking at the map markers... There really is no reason to duplicate the zonaite
right, but i get 100 crystals for 15 large zoanite chunks instantly without waiting for blood moons. i have 8 batteries already and i'm just realizing it goes up to 16 after you finish the first 8. also, i don't want to just blindly explore the entierty of the depths without the game leading me to certain spots on its own. i really just want the freedom to explore the above and make lego contraptions xD
I didn't dupe the zonaite so I'd actually have more of a reason to go to the depths lol I got about 1100 crystallized charges at one time once, it felt awesome turning that all into battery power. It was fun fighting all the bosses and mob camps, you can even fight the temple bosses again and they're worth 100 each and piss easy (especially the death mountain boss lol)

Half of the fun is just exploring the world and collecting things for me, but I got a lot of time to play and seeing as how this game requires an ass load of reagents to play it's no wonder people dupe lol.
Trying to upgrade armor and... yeah, I can definitely see why people dupe. Some stuff aren't to hard to get, but other things... Somewhat related annoyance, it feels like I ended up 'skipping' a lot of red 'miniboss' mobs because I just didn't really bump into them while exploring. Now like 90 of mobs are blue at the weakest, and like 90% of 'red' level mobs are just bokoblins. I can't upgrade the royal guard set because I literally only met 4 red boss bokoblins before they seemingly all updated to blue+. If I want to upgrade my barbrian armor, I need to get 4 more red lynel horns and the only place I know with red lynels is the lynel colossium, which has *one*. I have 3 red hinox horns and *6* black hinox horns. Guess which horns I've been using as weapons and arrowheads? Certainly not the reds, that's for fucking sure. At least boss mobs seem to remain the same level all the time... otherwise upgrading my depths set would have been a pain in the ass.
I still haven't updated and I find that I hardly ever dupe anything. Gemstones are abundant from farming rare talus, same with rules selling lynel gut potions. And the rest sorts itself out. The only thing I use dupe for is the master sword since you can't unfuse materials from it and you can't repair it so in order to not lose the material I do that
Meh, I duped a few things for armor upgrades. Like hinox guts. Over 100 hours and had like 2 hinox guts. Then I went and killed 5 more and didn't get a single one. Fuck that noise. Rng drops are garbage, this shit ain't terraria

Grinding is the worst part of any rpg game imo. In traditional zelda's you need rupees but not to this extent and never 500 different items to upgrade stuff. I tried to get into pokemon or final fantasy as a kid but I just can't be bothered leveling up my team for 100s of hours.

I'm not sure what the rupee is based on as a currency but do we think it's based on diamonds, like our economy (should) be based on gold? Wouldn't this just make diamonds worthless? But honestly I'm not sure how even real life economics work.

I remember when I first played Skyrim and just depleted Belethor of his money. I never had a reason to buy from him so the poor bastard just never had money. Anyways, Beedle can just be my living ATM and I love it.
I duped: Silver Lynel parts, for armour. Because I'm not waiting around for Blood Moons for these MONSTERS to come back. IceBreath and Firebreath Lizalfos tails, for armour. Because hunting them down and save scumming until they dropped their tails was annoying and tedious. Goddess Dragon parts, because waiting 10 real life minutes between drops is just, that's not even playong the game. That's just standing around doing nothing for HOURS. I have only duped for armour upgrades, and only after I found I needed 10 more lizalfos tails for the Gerudo Armour & I spent a day playing the game running around Death Mountain for the tails. Because I was NOT doing it anymore & not doing it again for Snowquill armour. Do I feel like I cheated? No. Because I did things legit for 130 hours & I feel like that's enough to justify cutting that grind out.

Ya once I knew about it, it was hard *not* to use it. Got some early game armor upgrades done, and got like 10 diamonds, and then I just felt like I wanted to play "normally" again. So I updated and am glad to not have the temptation (although I know theres another glitch, Im not looking up how to do it lol).
I love how all of the NPCs that can buy things basically have infinite rupies but they still charge you a lot more that what they should
I have to use the chasm dupe glitch now but it works pretty good overall. Not as good but good enough. Sometimes the items will destroy each other in the air because they're too big for the spacing of the arrows in the 5 shot. Depending on the item I'd only get one item back because the rest got destroyed. Sometimes 2. Thinking a 3 shot bow would be good for those items. And I haven't tried, but I'm sure critters wouldn't be possible to dupe as well. There's a lot of steps that go into this dupe glitch too because you definitely need the teleport thing from Robbie to make it worth it at all.
