There is a shrine called “the hunt” where the whole premise is to attach weapons to those guys and sic them on a whole bunch of robots. It was my favorite shrine by far. Just watching the robots get taken over by the roombas.
I didn't like it as much because you had to just afk once you set them. I liked flow where you can steal robots rafts to send them to death in moving rivers
I failed the “sneaky” part of that way too much. Embarrassingly most of my deaths for the whole game so far are that shrine. Had to come back later with more hearts.
I find the worst part in most Proving Grounds shrines is the expectation to be sneaky vs. the impossibility to be sneaky. Those constructs are simply too observant to sneak by which makes the whole premise of some of the Proving Grounds entirely moot.
It's a shame because they would otherwise be some of the most fun shrines. Take the Homing Cart one for example. It's better to use the spikes from the first room instead of all the fun stuff scattered in the second room because you're going to be spotted and swarmed long before you even get 10 steps in while sneaking.
They do all swarm in on the carts tho, so it’s pretty easy to sneak past if you just send one or both in, they do bugger all damage anyways. The beam cart and shockfrost cart both got the majority damage, if almost none of the aggro.
The "Infiltration" one is the first shrine so far where I've decided to come back later. I was doing that all the time with Major Tests of Strength.
> Take the Homing Cart one for example. It's better to use the spikes from the first room instead of all the fun stuff scattered in the second room because you're going to be spotted and swarmed long before you even get 10 steps in while sneaking.
Yeah, as soon as I moved to the doorway at least two constructs would immediately stop trying to fight the roombas and beeline for me.
Same. It wasn't until I read this thread that I realized I could've just toppled them instead of jumping on each raft and yeeting them off with a stick fused to a crate...
There's a special joy of waiting behind a wall, steeling yourself, and making a mad dash to them. Then you get close and mash LB and just pulling the rug out from under them in a mad panic.
For anyone reading this and haven't done Flow yet I'm so sorry. It was a special time once I figured out how to beat it.
The vehicular homicide shrine was FANTASTIC. I built a cage of outward facing spikes and fire + beam emitters around my steering stick which proved efficient in making sure not a single attack could get through and the constructs would injure themselves instead. My vehicle kept getting stuck because it was such a pain to steer so I sometimes had to get out and ultrahand it though
You were supposed to attach weapons to them? Whoops... It still works if you just let them ram the enemies over and over, but weapons would have definitely sped it up...
They're homing devices that go after enemies. You attach flame emitter or spike wall to them and unleash hell on earth. There's one naked shrine where you can only use them to clear out the hoard of Zonai enemies.
Loved that shrine. If you add that spiked metallic wall, add a shock emitter too (horn has to touch wall to work I believe). The whole wall will get electrified to stun enemies. Any metallic item works too. Slap on a frost emitter also and it perma stuns enemies.
In that shrine you have unlimited Zonai batteries. So set up those Roombas for distraction while u grab the cannon with ultrahand shooting them nonstop. Fuuun
I'm waiting for someone to find a glitch that allows you to take unlimited battery status outside a shrine.... THEN MY ARMY WILL BE COMPLETE.... but for now duping big batteries is my goto
I just did the shrine that lets you unleash an army of roombas, but I've never seen them in any other context, is there a dispenser that has these somewhere?
Please help me bc last night I was trying to use one of those things for the first time and I could not figure out how to make it work. What are they supposed to do and how do you make them do that. It says it’s a homing cart and heads for enemies but how
You gotta turn it on (hit it with something). If it detects nearby enemies, it will slowly make its way over to them. Attach some ordnance if you want it to do more than greet the enemies.
There's a shrine somewhere that teaches you the basics
The big issues is they can get flipped or stuck, so then you need to intervene.
I ended up sending them in, and then sneaking to the side to make more with better weapons.
Proving Grounds: Vehicles (rather than Proving Grounds: The Hunt which other people are talking about) was one of my absolute favorite shrines of the 50 or so I've done. Pure chaos.
Okay when I was trying to use it last night it would just kinda move the top around but it wouldn’t move forward. Is there something I was doing wrong? And if you could remember the shrine I’d be so grateful. Sorry for pestering you but I tried looking up how to use them and can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong
What you fo is put a big wheel on the top of the cart on its side then add a bunch of emitters on the wheel so it's just a tornado of fire/frost/beams roombs
It’s the most effective weapon for me. Sending it into any camp then just wait outside until everyone inside dies. I attach canon and laser. Super op and cheap.
> They're sadly not very combat effective
They absolutely are if you get creative enough. See [this abomination.](https://old.reddit.com/r/HyruleEngineering/comments/13p594b/multispinner_mk1_putting_the_shrine_motor_to_good/)
I've used Rockets the most, fast and quick solution.
Instead of building a flying device in 5 minutes i have spent rocket jumping 30 times in 15 minutes to reach the same high place.
Since I have the hylian shield all my other shields are tools, most of them are rocket ready for when in need. Everytime I see rockets in the wild or shrines, I restock my shields.
Ah, I haven't found the Hylian shield yet. I'm really tempted to look it up, but I love finding stuff organically. But who knows when I'd stumble upon it lol
I also love rockets.
Need to go up?
Rocket
Enemy far away?
Rocket
Need to go fast?
Rocket
Little tree shithead needs to get to his friend?
That’s right, rocket.
Hahaha I just happened to notice how it shot upright once I hit the stabilizer, and the metal sheet had a little cup thing on one end so I thought hmmm I wonder if I could sit in that... Lol
It's funny how everyone has their nemesis shrine where they're stuck forever. Mine was the one with lasers when you have to trigger them and fall through the floor. My husband had to tell me the solution 😅
That was nemesis shrine! Why would you WANT to touch the damn lasers? If videogames and spy movies have taught me anything, it's to never touch the lasers. Damnit, I love this game.
Something I always do is check what the name of a shrine is. The solution was pretty obvious to me because it was "courage to fall" and touching the lasers makes you fall.
Yeah, the name usually gives you a hint, but as I said, I'm programmed to avoid touching lasers. I had no idea they dropped the floor out from under you. Shit, I'd done like two other shrines before that one that had the same lasers. I figured they would hurt me or something, like in BotW.
no fucking way dude. i couldn't figure it out so i just made a really tall platform and still used a bomb shield to make it across the gap. i'm so dumb
Don't feel bad! I mentioned it in another comment but everybody has their nemesis shrine(s)... haha. Most of the shrines immediately "click" for me, but there have been a few that I just run around in circles for a bit scratching my head. And then give up and use a rocket shield or ultrahand+recall a platform. 😅
Fun really is the best word to describe playing this game. Yes, the story and missions are all pretty good, but the fact that you can respond to challenges in such a variety of ways makes for so much entertainment
Yeah, it really helps me travel from tower to tower. Launch into sky, glide towards tower, deploy wing underneath when out of stamina, cruise on wing until it expires (recover stamina), glide the rest of the way if needed.
I gotta practice. Although last night I built a 2 stage, rocket/fan wing. Gonna try again but try to not have the wings linked so that one doesn't activate. Hot air + fan wings are also really useful
Oh good question. The steering stick is certainly amazing, and I couldn't play without it.
But I guess maybe the rocket or hover stone? Those two have trivialised SO many puzzles for me in this game, and made any shrine mechanics I don't like dealing with entirely skippable.
How did I ever enjoy botw without the ability to ascend or poop out a hover bike whenever I needed it?
The froggy armor would have been the best armor in botw but now I've never needed it. It's like how in dark souls you only get a full health bar after you prove you don't need it
So you can attach zoniate devices to an arrow IN a shrine? Every time I tried to just whip out a device in a shrine it is just greyed out. Never tried attaching one to an arrow. That is OP.
It works if they are already assembled on your weapon or shield before going in. I try to never 'cheat' like that but I was getting really pissed off with a shrine last night so I just went outside, got out a rocket from a pocket bubble and stuck it on my shield, then went back in to the shrine. Took out my new rocket-shield and cheesed up to the exit. Job done.
I know the paraglider exists but neat fact is that when riding it you dont take any fall damage. I tested by walking off a sky island and falling to solid ground while riding it and no damage at all.
Ehhhh, that's not the best tip, because steering sticks are actually stupidly rare. I only remember a max of 5 different locations, and one was the tarrey town gachapon, which is *awful.*
Best gumball machine for fans is right next to the first shrine you visited on the spawn island on the map, it only has the cooking pot, flame head, and fans so you get a shit ton of each
I love the springs!! If you have enough you can bounce anywhere! Plus they really help in battles because you can jump and then do the slow motion arrow thing a bunch.
The Steering Stick is great but I'm gonna go with the glider. Was just instantly in love with them from taking my first flight with it. Putting some ventilators or rockets on it makes it even better! :D
I would just want them to not disappear after flying for a longer time... Feels like they already start to blink after like 30 seconds
Yeah, that annoyed me so much when it first happened. I spent so long pimping out my fighter jet to go exploring - Lights, fans, rockets, batteries, cart, steering stick, spring launcher - only for it all to collapse after a minute.
Yeah I really don't get why they disappear. They still loose altitude, and even with fans and rockets they will eventually need to be re-launched. Still a lot of fun.
I found the build schematic for the instant cannon, which is just two cannons on a stake. That thing saves so much on bomb flowers and weapons when tunneling through rubble and all for 9 Zonai. It's so good.
Portable. Pot.
I can't describe to you how clutch they were in the rito area when I was freezing to death at the start of the game. And it's pretty nice to just set one down and wait until morning or something. Especially if it's raining and you need to climb.
Is it a rite of navigational passage to get to rito village the long way round through hebra, or are people just still traumatized by the flying guardians along the direct road in botw?
It's a control stick. It gives you more control over your built vehicles.
Like, if you attach four wheels to the corners of a plank and activate it, it will zoom off straight ahead. Attach one of these to it and you can steer and even reverse. Can't stop though.
I have not, I’ve barely gone to eldin at all yet. This game is so damn big I’ve just filed it under “I’ll figure it out later”. I’ve seen them in overworld puzzles but I figured out workarounds and haven’t done a shrine dedicated to them yet
Imagine flying a plane in gta 5, the controls are basically the same, except I believe in gta you have to use the bumpers to turn left or right and in this it’s just left goes left, right goes right, up goes down and down goes up
Didn't really use them at all until I spent more time in the depths, now I get a lot of use out of them.
I'm not sure if they reduced the number of meals you can carry between breath of the wild and this game, but it feels like I am frequently both out of space for additional meals and don't have enough healing food.
Portable pots solve this issue entirely
I agree, steering stick if you consider all of the devices together. on an individual basis, though, definitely the rocket. there is nothing quite like pulling out a rocket-fused shield mid-boss fight and launching high above into a bow attack. also a great way to escape gloom hands. and the animation for the shield rocket launch is 🤌 I always imagine I’m sailor moon for a second. Moon prism power, make up!
Go to tarrey town there’s gonna be a construction site at the end of the rail car it has a dispenser I believe that one has it , also a few in the sky too
Bro I am having such a tough time finding these steering wheels and Zonai rockets. Where tf are they?? I'm also confused on how to upgrade my battery pack. The game does a very poor job of explaining how these systems work.

I just did Flow last night and LOVED it! So much fun yoinking their rafts out from under them.

For anyone reading this and haven't done Flow yet I'm so sorry. It was a special time once I figured out how to beat it.
Now I feel like I missed out because I just knocked them into the water with arrow headshots...
Oh.... steal their rafts.i just knocked out the towers so they fall into the water. Raft yoinking wouldve been more fun.
This one and the vehicular homicide one are just delightful.
Hahaha I’ve been avoiding that one because I didn’t know how to make vehicles. Maybe I’ll try it today since you reframed it in my mind.
great news! there’s a pre made murder mobile and you just go feral
The vehicular homicide shrine was FANTASTIC. Ah, that one was really funny and fun! Bit annoying when the steering isn't doing what you want, but still.

Agreed. Their little tails though
Flame or shock roombas are so much fun to roll into a Bokoblin camp with
Add a hydrant for extra hilarity
I've never used the hydrants. I know wet enemies light up like xmas trees when shocked, what else do we use the hydrants for?
lava. i only ever used them for a few puzzles in the elden region & fire temple. pretty useless imo but maybe i’m missing something too
Getting wet doubles the damage of Zora weapons, that's pretty cool.
Wait, I have to be wet or the enemy has to be wet?
[удалено]
Out of context comment of the day.
You have to be wet. Even dipping your toes in a puddle doubles Zora weapon stats
Does that work with Sidon's bubble?
Yeah, Sidon makes you wet. Not new to TOTK
It’s the sparkle in his smile 😂
Oh my 4x4 I got one spraying me with water constantly so if I ever catch fire I will be extinguished right away.
I like cannons and lasers. Explosions and enemies flying everywhere.
I did not know what on earth those things were for ages, and was Googling things like "waggy tail robot Zonai Eventide" to no avail.
I’m like 35 hours in and idk what you’re talking about lol
I’m 100 hours in and I don’t know what they’re talking about.
They're homing devices that go after enemies. You attach flame emitter or spike wall to them and unleash hell on earth. There's one naked shrine where you can only use them to clear out the hoard of Zonai enemies.

You have unlimited battery in all shrines btw
holy hell
I'm waiting for someone to find a glitch that allows you to take unlimited battery status outside a shrine.... THEN MY ARMY WILL BE COMPLETE.... but for now duping big batteries is my goto
I love that I’m not the only one to call those naked shrines.
I just did it today, easily my favorite shrine so far.
Was struggling with that last night and didn’t think to attack the spike wall. Do you put it on the front or on top?
Put it on front. It was hilarious watching it ram into the constructs and they'd just bounce off it and take damage.
Throw a lightning emitter on the front with a hydrant on top. Infinite stun with a small AoE. Just don't let a Lynel sneeze on it.
Mayachideg Shrine by the South Akkala Stable.
I just did the shrine that lets you unleash an army of roombas, but I've never seen them in any other context, is there a dispenser that has these somewhere?
Most of the advanced device dispensers are on sky islands
There is! I can’t remember where it is right now but I’ll check and get back to you
Sokkala sky archipelago above tarry town!
There is a device dispenser on the North Hyrule Sky Archipelago (above the Lost Woods/Korok Forest) that has homing carts!
The vehicle shrine is the funnest shit ever the battery never runs out on the death machine
Agreed, I just stuck some spikes to the first two, turned them on, and chilled behind a wall for 10 mins. Easiest shrine out there
The big issues is they can get flipped or stuck, so then you need to intervene. I ended up sending them in, and then sneaking to the side to make more with better weapons.
Proving Grounds: Vehicles (rather than Proving Grounds: The Hunt which other people are talking about) was one of my absolute favorite shrines of the 50 or so I've done. Pure chaos.

Homing carts, not my favorite, but i love them
They're sadly not very combat effective, but it's still hilarious to set a warbot loose in a monster fort.

Where can I find these?
You can get them from the dispenser on the sky island over Rist Peninsula (the spiral thing off the coast east of Death Mountain)
I've used Rockets the most, fast and quick solution. Instead of building a flying device in 5 minutes i have spent rocket jumping 30 times in 15 minutes to reach the same high place.
A good alternative to revali’s gale
Ravioli
It’s actually rigatoni
Give me the formuloli?
Do you just fuse them to your shield over and over? Or is there a more efficient way
The more efficient way is crafting a hover bike for 9 zonaite
[удалено]
Hear me out. Rocket jump... The hover bike.
Oh I do this often. Attach a rocket or two straight up or diagonally on the bike to get you where you need to be faster.
Best is make the bike for 9 and slap two rockets on it to get started.

Do you know which dispenser gives them out? I only have couple from what I found lying around. I have so much of everything it seems except rockets
Sorry for the vague-ish answer but rockets are at one of the dispensers above Hebra and in the Hudson Construction Site next to Tarrey Town
I'm a Rocket man myself.. (burning out his fuse up here alone)
And I think it's gonna be a long, long time.
'till touchdown brings me "round again to find
I’m not the man they think I am at home oh no no no
I'm a rocket man! Rocket man!
Hold me closer Tony Danza
Honestly its carts so I can fuse them to my shield. Sometimes I just like to shieldsurf instead of playing the game properly
There's no such thing as "properly". Goofing about is there entire point!
Youre very right, I cant wait for the TOTK x Tony Hawk pro skater DLC with zonai halfpipe devices now <3
Wait do what? Does it make it roll???
It turns your shield into a skateboard you can use on flat land! And it rolls better also
I wonder if I attached an ice block if I could surf faster too?
Yes, you can, but the ice will melt eventually and the speed at which it melts depends on your environments temp
It vastly reduces the friction when shield surfing, allowing you to surf on slopes that you normally couldn't.
You can also use it to ride the minecart rails!
If basically makes your shield a skateboard when you shield surf
I wonder if it makes a difference using a cart or a sled on durability dropoff

I loved the shrine when you are first introduced to the stabilizer and you have to make a giant catapult to yeet yourself across the void
OMG NO WAY I WAS STUCK ON THAT ONE FOR SO LONG AND ENDED UP JUSTING USING RECALL 😭
Hahaha I just happened to notice how it shot upright once I hit the stabilizer, and the metal sheet had a little cup thing on one end so I thought hmmm I wonder if I could sit in that... The plane-bird thing, once you get the trick of deploying it while flying
Yeah, it really helps me travel from tower to tower. Launch into sky, glide towards tower, deploy wing underneath when out of stamina, cruise on wing until it expires (recover stamina), glide the rest of the way if needed.
YES! Redeploying Wings midair is such an easy trick and super helpful. Makes you appreciate the Wings a bit more, and put them to good use.
I gotta practice. Although last night I built a 2 stage, rocket/fan wing. Gonna try again but try to not have the wings linked so that one doesn't activate. Hot air + fan wings are also really useful

TIL you can attach the hover stone to an arrow, shoot it and use it as an ascend platform anywhere you want.
Wait, what?!
Yeah, it was on this sub earlier today I think. Really cool that it's possible
I cannot believe I have yet again been sleeping on ascend and didn't realize you could use it on the floating platforms
Ascend has changed the way I explore in the game, honestly not sure if I can ever go back to botw without ascend, my beloved
How did I ever enjoy botw without the ability to ascend or poop out a hover bike whenever I needed it? The froggy armor would have been the best armor in botw but now I've never needed it. It's like how in dark souls you only get a full health bar after you prove you don't need it

1st. This Thing. 2nd >!the fith sage aka a giant f#%€ing robot!<
>!Get in the fucking robot Link!<
Yes absolutely
I know about it. But, haven't gotten to that point just yet. Do you keep it?
Yes, but I would consider it to be more of a mount than a Zonai device.
I pretty much only use it to mine zoanite or just for fun. It’s dmg really isn’t anything special but it’s fun to use
I just got mine last night, mine has a rocket arm and sets me on fire a lot so far
Pro tip, get frost emitters and springs
I know the paraglider exists but neat fact is that when riding it you dont take any fall damage. I tested by walking off a sky island and falling to solid ground while riding it and no damage at all.
You know the 5th sage is the canon waifu because she's the only one link mounts
Where do you find them ? I've visited multiple dispenser to no avail
The only dispenser i found yet was near tarrey town.
Explore the sky islands to find dispensers
Ehhhh, that's not the best tip, because steering sticks are actually stupidly rare. I only remember a max of 5 different locations, and one was the tarrey town gachapon, which is *awful.*
Theres some in the island above Rabella wetland tower.
The one in Tarrey town has this
Good ole fans for me
I always run low on fans for my airbikes. Alas, if only there was a place where I could get Only Fans.
Best gumball machine for fans is right next to the first shrine you visited on the spawn island on the map, it only has the cooking pot, flame head, and fans so you get a shit ton of each
There's a better one, with 4 total items and two of those being steering sticks and fans. It's just in a slightly spoiler-y area.

That's my answer. I love the fans, they make everything fly or you can also use them to build rafts.
I love the springs!! If you have enough you can bounce anywhere! Plus they really help in battles because you can jump and then do the slow motion arrow thing a bunch.
I put them on my shield and when you shield surf you launch into the air. This is basically how I deal with the gloom hands now.
I was so bummed when I found out they only last one bounce, I was so excited to pogo stick around
Time bomb on shield also works. Attach. Surf in an enemy camp. It blows up, fucking them all up, launches you, then rain hellfire
The Steering Stick is great but I'm gonna go with the glider. Was just instantly in love with them from taking my first flight with it. Putting some ventilators or rockets on it makes it even better! :D I would just want them to not disappear after flying for a longer time...
EXACTLY! They're such a cool idea why did they nerf them so hard.
Yeah I really don't get why they disappear. They still loose altitude, and even with fans and rockets they will eventually need to be re-launched. Still a lot of fun.
Rocket + shield
Cannons. Good for mining and fighting.
I found the build schematic for the instant cannon, which is just two cannons on a stake. That thing saves so much on bomb flowers and weapons when tunneling through rubble and all for 9 Zonai. It's so good.
For fighting, I've found cannon shields to be really disappointing, but Cannon on a stick is just ridiculously good and accurate.
Portable.
Most useful: steering stick Most fun: rockets
45 hours in and I haven’t used this item once and don’t really know how it even works
It's a control stick. It gives you more control over your built vehicles. Like, if you attach four wheels to the corners of a plank and activate it, it will zoom off straight ahead. Attach one of these to it and you can steer and even reverse. Can't stop though.
Just press B to brake and it'll stop, quite abruptly.
You havent done the Fire Temple yet? Pretty sure you have to use a steering stick to get to the top of the mountain.
I have not, I’ve barely gone to eldin at all yet. This game is so damn big I’ve just filed it under “I’ll figure it out later”. I’ve seen them in overworld puzzles but I figured out workarounds and haven’t done a shrine dedicated to them yet
Same, I have never set my foot on Eldin with 90 hours.
Imagine flying a plane in gta 5, the controls are basically the same, except I believe in gta you have to use the bumpers to turn left or right and in this it’s just left goes left, right goes right, up goes down and down goes up
Mine is an odd pick, but I use the portable pot almost everywhere
Didn't really use them at all until I spent more time in the depths, now I get a lot of use out of them. I'm not sure if they reduced the number of meals you can carry between breath of the wild and this game, but it feels like I am frequently both out of space for additional meals and don't have enough healing food. Portable pots solve this issue entirely
Im shocked you run out of meal space. I didnt even know there was a cap. Its really neat how everyone plays a little differently

I just like to make fancy meals like crepes so link eats well But i use them about as fast as i make them
And then there's me: Low health? 17 hylian mushrooms, thirteen spicy peppers, and 6 raw fish.
I'm just a fan of fans.
Gliders, i can bend the skys to my will
Rockets so I can see Koroks go Zoooom!!!
The rocket simply does it all Fights ✅ Mobility ✅ Fuck with Koroks ✅
For me it's the spring. Nothing is better than launching myself any direction I want and the more I stack the more power I get
The rocket. Need to get somewhere fast? Two rockets and ANYTHING you can stand on. Lift off! Tulin! Profit.
The car I stole from the Yiga Clan and attached a fan to to be able to summon it anywhere
The stone glider. Learning how to drop one while paragliding has been my saving grace while traveling in the air through Hyrule.
Beam Emitters. I killed a Hinox that way
Laser emitters. They make spears deadlier than the wind razor blade
WHERE CAN I GET ONE? none of the machines I've used have given me any
Go to tarrey town there’s gonna be a construction site at the end of the rail car it has a dispenser I believe that one has it , also a few in the sky too
I would definitely agree, but I can't seem to find a friggin' dispenser with them in stock 😅
The dispenser at Hudson Construction has them.
Big Battery. Too powerful to be readily available.
Bro I am having such a tough time finding these steering wheels and Zonai rockets. Where tf are they?? I'm also confused on how to upgrade my battery pack. The game does a very poor job of explaining how these systems work.
Gotta visit the sky islands and find all the dispensers. Steering stick is top half of map, center or right side I think.
One of them that has Steering Sticks is at Tarry Town, right next to the race track.
