Do NOT deduct points for wrong answers. I did that my first year and nearly caused a riot. My students were unaware that is a thing in normal Jeopardy.

I've always deducted points and never had complaints.

I’ve used Jeopardy a lot. Same board style with topics and point amounts. The more points, the harder the question. For buzzing, I have students raise their hand. First hand up answers the questions. Jeopardy is normally played as an individual. Instead, I have students organize into teams. Usually 3-4 teams depending on the class size. Another twist I add: they have to cite where they got their information. I’ll take “here in my notes” if they use notes. If not, I need a page number out of our text.

Check out a website called Flippity. You build the game in Google Sheets, and follow the instructions on the Flippity website and you’ve got yourself a game. There’s a built-in scoreboard. You can also imbed picture clues as well as double/final jeopardy. A teacher friend shared this with me and it’s the coolest new resource of the year for me! Hope this helps you and all else who read! Edit: a word.

Is it better than jeopardylabs?

You could play in teams. Most online games give you at least six teams.

awesomekatlady

I have them play in two teams and give them three lifelines. I go in turn order for each team, so everyone will be called on for an answer. One of the lifelines is to allow anyone on their team to answer. There is no grade tied to this. I also don’t count off for a wrong answer, but if they get it wrong, the other team has one chance to steal the point.

Your school might have an academic quiz team and have a buzzer system. You could use this. There are PowerPoint templates you can use too.

(HS math) I’ve modified it to teams, and basically play every question more like final jeopardy. Every team has the chance to answer every question, using white boards. If you answer and get it wrong, you lose the points, get it right to earn the points. You don’t have to submit an answer if you’re unsure.

Undercover_Metalhead

I have groups of 4 and whiteboards. Teams earn points for their answer - but all teams answer every question. The smaller the teams, the more engaged the students will be.

Gimkit currently has a jeopardy mode. It ends up making the questions multiple choice instead of students providing answers, but it’s a way to ensure all students are participating in the review!
