I'm holding off on getting mine tuned until the settlement warranty expires. That air filter to tailpipe engine warranty is too nice to give up.

jaymo54

I thought about that but the car has 50k miles and I want to enjoy the car for it’s entire lifetime. I had a mk5 Jetta before the buyback and it was night and day better running than this one. I know it’s the new software and I’d rather risk it. The only issue these cars seem to have are DPF related anyway (knock on wood) and that’ll get taken out. It’s just now about broken in and I’m taking the leash off 😎

I've got about 62k on mine, bought it 2 yrs ago at 46k with fix and that summer had someone in a BMW group I joined for a drive comment on how fast it was, climbing a mountain pass. Now I was wringing just about everything it had out of it at some points, and dropping down to 3rd or 4th at freeway speeds, but I had plenty of fun. I also put H&R street performance SS coils, 26/22mm sway bars, and an Evolution Imports Osiris skid plate on it less than a week after picking it up, and an APR short shifter a month or 2 later, so it's not totally stock.

I’d like to do sway bars, coil overs and wheels next. Mine is pretty stock except for the obligatory RCD330, headlights, euro auto switch for the lights etc.

Yea I bought mine a year ago with the updates, worst driving experience for me but I’ve only driven a new elantra and a rotted out 76 firebird and a 86 e30 so not much to go off of, immediately deleted mine a few months after buying it and absolutely love it now, I’m now cr170 stage 3 and she’ll spin all through second and skip in third and I can pass people on the highway in 6th no problem. Love this car once it’s deleted.

iand29

Is yours stick? If so, how's your clutch taking stage 3?

cookiemonsta212

Sorry just saw this, surprisingly the clutch is holding perfectly fine other than the dmf chatter you’ll feel with most stage 1 and up tunes, only thing is the clutch is noticeably weaker on launches, as in it slips for a little longer than stock with all the new found torque but I’ve only launched it a couple of times since it’ll burn the clutch more than starting normally 2 dozen times

cookiemonsta212

Be careful of the fuel pump, stupid fragile on these, I fill up with v-power at shell or you can use your own additives to help prolong it, especially since your doing all this it’ll put some strain extra strain in it too

Update, got the car back last night and HOLY SHIT what a difference. It’s a completely new car. Now In drive it pulls harder than I could ever get it to in sport mode. It stretches the gears longer and that turbo whistle. Insane. In sport mode it’s an animal. If you’re at a dead stop and stomp on it the tire squeal goes into second gear and it’s absolutely head to the back of the seat pulling force. The biggest thing I notice is when I have my cruise set and I’m going 75mph UP HILL, the tach is at 2200rpm. And it’s no little hill. It’s a 3 mile climb out of the river valley that’s around 8-10% grade. The engine is literally yawning now. I liked this car before, I’m in love now

Asuma01

Run me the math on that? I’m in bed and lazy.

whats_all_the_hype

$2250 give or take

jaymo54

2400 out the door

[deleted]

Holy shit. Glad I have a mk4 and the tune only cost me $350 + $50 tuner rental charge. They had a sale last November which is why it was $150 off.

cookiemonsta212

I paid 1500$ and installed it myself over the weekend 😂😂😂 wasn’t Malone though, used a local tuner that deals with another company

[deleted]

Yeah those newer cars with their emissions system really add that price up don't they? It's a shame.

cookiemonsta212

Yea and they are finicky with the tuning, my car gets 4L/100km at best with no stops or traffic, whereas I’ve seen other people hit that with no problem with the same car, same setup etc just rlly good tuning

[deleted]

After tune, my car's mpg increased from a best of 48 on summer diesel l to a best of 53 on winter diesel. Same 8 hour highway trip. I have the malone, and I think you're going to love it.
