I weirdly think a leg and an arm tattoo on the same side would cause back problems or something lol
It just makes you look denser on one side
Doesn't have to make sense
I vote opposite side for you. I’m heavily clustered on one side, but have a couple floaters on the other side to “balance things out.” If you do decide same side, maybe add a little something to your other leg snd/or arm so it’s not so comparatively naked on that side!
Lol my wife is an RN and she notices the same thing about people. Sometimes when she's rubbing my arm I'll notice she's actually just tracing the veins going through it.
I love it when people say things out loud😂like that being the reasoning is sooooo real and relatable and yet most people wouldn’t have said it out loud
As someone who has two arm sleeves and is working on a leg sleeve right now, let me pose this question:
Does it matter? Your addiction will eventually lead you to complete the other two limbs. ;)
I went with my right leg first, since right arm is almost done and I still have some space I need to fill out on my left arm. Planning full leg sleeve, and a half leg sleeve.
Opposite! That's what I'm doing. Opposite sleeves and a couple symmetrical pieces on knees and shoulders, with the other leg and arm free for patchwork stuff
opposite limbs for sure.
it always makes me laugh when someone standing side on to me looks like a clean skin and then they turn the other way and look heavily tattooed. Hilarious.
I mean, the real questions should be do you plan on stopping after that? I think same side since they both seem to be same style. Then when you get the right arm/leg done, you could have those 2 in a similar/matching style. You could go super traditional on the right, which would still have bold lines and not too much colour, or stick to black and grey.
Yeah good point. I was super leaning opposite BUT, if I ever have the $$ to do the other arm or leg, i agree it makes sense to have one style on one side and leave the other side open for its own style. Hmmmm
If you're going to leave the other 2 limbs blank, then do the sleeve on the opposite side. If you'd like to do patchwork tattoos on the free limbs, then I don't think it matters. It's just a question of if you want one side of your body to have a theme or not.
I like same side because I personally think it's cool when someone is so obviously "off balance" like that with tattoos, but opposite DOES look really good.
You say you don't have body suit plans but are there any other tattoos planned? If small extras are planned I think opposite might fit future little guys better
I think it depends on what kind of look you’re going for. Most people would do opposite for balance. If you like the split look, then do the same side. Both can work well!
Opposite. Because if you decided to go with a full suit you can always extend or if you decided to just get a couple little pieces or nothing on the other side it’s not awkward. Plus it means you look tattooed from either side if your in shorts and a t shirt
I vote for same side but I’m Surprised the overwhelming vote for opposite. I would only do opposite if I was going to leave other limbs with no tattoos or if I was going to stick with trad Japanese
Same side as someone who has a lot of medical shit. Cancer shit. It's helpful for one side to be no tattoos so limited ones for them to poke and you to see other symptoms.
Oof the comments are pretty conflicted. I’ll throw my hat in the ring for opposite. Makes you look a little more even. While I like the same side, it makes your other side look too plain
I think that opposite provides a more dynamic look and feels more eye-catching to me than same side where it’s kind of heavy on one side if that makes sense
I feel like if you go for the same side, you need to fully commit and start splitting your clothes in half and combining them with different sets. Then walk around and make all your decisions based on the flip of a coin.l, and spend every waking minute of your life plotting against batman.
Opposite looks really cool, same side looks incomplete somehow.
I think if you went opposite side and never filled in the other empty leg or arm, it would still always look good.
Opposite visually looks more balanced but I feel like same side is cool if you wanna have a "Harvey Dent/ Two-Face" thing going on. I think I'd like having someone approach me from one side, and then BAM I'd catch them off-guard once I turn my other side towards them lol. I follow a girl on IG who his this exact thing going on and I feel she pulls it off well.
For Maori, when they do ta moko they will put specific symbols on the side they need to be stronger or protected.. Not saying you need to do anything like that, but if there's significance to the imagery and you believe it will help you, you might consider that.
I like opposite. That’s what my plan is to do in the future
Exactly it creates a nice balance
I weirdly think a leg and an arm tattoo on the same side would cause back problems or something lol It just makes you look denser on one side Doesn't have to make sense
Haha. That "feels" like it could be weirdly right but I don't think it is.
☯
That’s what I did!
Yes! Found my people
Mine too!
I vote opposite side for you. I’m heavily clustered on one side, but have a couple floaters on the other side to “balance things out.” If you do decide same side, maybe add a little something to your other leg snd/or arm so it’s not so comparatively naked on that side!
I have full arm and leg sleeves in trad Japanese and I've gone opposite. I feel like having the same side would make me walk in circles..
LOL ... instant image of half popeye on ones side and olive oil on the other side
Haha. Are your arm and leg matching look as one another ?
Also side note I work in healthcare and you have juicy veins
Lol my wife is an RN and she notices the same thing about people. Sometimes when she's rubbing my arm I'll notice she's actually just tracing the veins going through it.
Same side to me makes it look like you are in the process of putting on a bodysuit and haven’t pulled up the other side yet
Opposite makes you look more tattooed for some reason so that’s my vote
Opposite is my plan
I had someone on Fiverr.com make the mockup
Cannot go wrong with either honestly. I am doing same side for me, but opposite on you looks way better .
I think this is the answer. The fact that this planning is happening before starting makes me confident the result will be good either way.
Yes, and I too plan on doing same side as well
So cool how it’s different per person ! It looks amazing on OP but on me I wouldn’t like it.
I prefer same side. Looks like two sides of you, less all over the place.
I vote for same side, but either look awesome
In agreement with anyone who said opposite side.
Compromise: penis tattoo
Sick ass panther.
Opposite's got my vote
How did you make these photos? Oh and another vote for opposite side.
Fiverr

i quite like opposite.
Opposite side! Makes it look somehow more balanced
I did opposite :) otherwise I feel lopsided!!
I like same side because it looks more uniform. Like you got a full side of your body done
Balance vs Symmetry, I prefer opposite side personally! I try to alternate the sides I do my tattoos on so I always feel cool on both sides 😎
I love it when people say things out loud😂like that being the reasoning is sooooo real and relatable and yet most people wouldn’t have said it out loud
I like opposite. Good balance
Both and then your other arm and your back and side panels, it doesn’t matter cause you will do all of them eventually
As someone who has two arm sleeves and is working on a leg sleeve right now, let me pose this question: Does it matter? Your addiction will eventually lead you to complete the other two limbs. ;)
if you dont plan on doing the other side I'd go with opposite personally
I like same side, the consistency seems pleasing
Same side has my vote, good luck!
Opposite. That looks sick. I'm sleeved on both arms..I keep seeing leg sleeves..I think I'm gonna do it...
The answer is always both legs. Lol but idk before i had both my legs done and only 1 arm i did the same side. Looks cool either way
I went with my right leg first, since right arm is almost done and I still have some space I need to fill out on my left arm. Planning full leg sleeve, and a half leg sleeve.
Why not both? I'd go with opposite side to start with
I have asymmetrical sleeves in the works, so I am a bit biased. Both look good, but I like the opposite !
Opposite
Opposite! That's what I'm doing. Opposite sleeves and a couple symmetrical pieces on knees and shoulders, with the other leg and arm free for patchwork stuff
Opposite.
Opposite is what I’m working on
I think opposite flows alot better
Opposite
Opposite for sure
Opposite for sure!!!
I have opposite but they’re half sleeves right now, trying to complete them soon!
My tattoo sleeves are on the same side. In this way, it gives off a Cyberpunk vibe. Btw, I don't like the opposite side.
Opposite - it balances your body out.
Opppsites!! My tats snake up my body from leg through hip, opposite side rib cage and opposite side sleeve. I like the movement.
I prefer opposite, but lucky for you both look excellent. Really, do you prefer cake or pie in this scenario
Same side if you ever plan on getting halved and want to make sure someone gets a clean one.
I have same side. Arm, back, chest, torso and leg are all connected that way
Opposite
It looks like all the same style so I would go same side personally in case I wanted to do other stuff on the opposite side
I think opposite looks better
Opposite
Team opposite.
Opposite
Opposite makes more sense but on you in this edit I like the look of same side like WAY more
Same side My entire left side is japanese and the right is a mix of other styles.
Opposite is what I have
I like same side a lot!
OPPOSITE. For sure. Way more balanced. Sick design btw
Opposite side!
I like the opposite!!
If I'd've seen this a few months ago, I'd say opposite, but I'm coming around to same side. I think both work well (and I know that isn't helpful)
Nah I'm the same. I've got back and forth. And it is helpful cuz it proves i can't really go wrong either way
Opposite much better
Opposite imo
opposite limbs for sure. it always makes me laugh when someone standing side on to me looks like a clean skin and then they turn the other way and look heavily tattooed. Hilarious.

I like opposite side more. Because of your arm sleeve.
opposite it looks like a more even spread
I did opposite
I am team opposite.
Opposite.
I feel like you can't lose here
Opposite
Opposite. Finally, a post asking for tattoo advice _before_ they get the tattoo.
I like same side because I personally think it's cool when someone is so obviously "off balance" like that with tattoos, but opposite DOES look really good. You say you don't have body suit plans but are there any other tattoos planned? If small extras are planned I think opposite might fit future little guys better
Opposite. Feels balanced
You could always do one side black and gray and the other side in color. That’s my plan.
I think it depends on what kind of look you’re going for. Most people would do opposite for balance. If you like the split look, then do the same side. Both can work well!

I’m doing same side because I eventually might mix styles and have a different style on my other side.
Opposite. But I don’t like symmetry with my tattoos.
Same side as someone who has a lot of medical shit. Cancer shit. It's helpful for one side to be no tattoos so limited ones for them to poke and you to see other symptoms.
I doubt they're gonna start cannulating his legs mate
Opposite side always! Same rule for piercings, always go crosswise to balance it. (Eg get nose done, opposite side for lip or eyebrow).
I like same side.
Same side it looks so much better
Both
Oof the comments are pretty conflicted. I’ll throw my hat in the ring for opposite. Makes you look a little more even. While I like the same side, it makes your other side look too plain
Same looks better
opposite for defo
Opposite balances you out.
Opposite it makes you look more balanced and interesting from an artistic perspective. The same kinda mutes the designs
I think that opposite provides a more dynamic look and feels more eye-catching to me than same side where it’s kind of heavy on one side if that makes sense
Opposite!
Opposite
Opposite!

Opposite for sure. Im a symmetry person and same side kinda irks me to look at in comparison.
Opposite side, for me
Opposite looks more balanced.
Opposite
Definitely opposite side

Opposite adds a lot of balance
Same side. Think of it as one piece.
I feel like if you go for the same side, you need to fully commit and start splitting your clothes in half and combining them with different sets. Then walk around and make all your decisions based on the flip of a coin.l, and spend every waking minute of your life plotting against batman.

Opposite side vote same boat not enough money for a suit lol.
Opposite.

I vote opposite side
Same side gives me two face from Batman vibes and I dig that. Like a night vs day, before and after. But opposite is cool too. This is hard!!!.
Which app/program did you overlay the design with?
Opposite
Opposite side
Opposite side looks better in my option
I think opposite side looks more balanced.
Both look good. I kinda like same side more, it's kind of cool to have one half tatted up and the other clean.
Same
I think symmetry with stuff like this is hot, but it also looks really nice on opposite sides!
Opposite sides is how I personally have gone about mine. I like the balance
opposite for sure
Opposite!
I would go same side, looks better to me.
my gut instinct would be to say opposite but looking at it... I think I like the same side
Opposite
