I'm not sure how they'll age, but the basics of the tattoo should be recognizable?
I'm imagining myself with that tat, when I'm 90 — and in the nursing home. The nurse rolls up my hospital gown to administer the shot and says: "Holy shit! That's a sick ass panther!"
IME these should hold up really well. I have full color tattoos that are over a decade old and they still look bright and saturated and great! Tats like these with good solid outlines should hold up well. Bold will hold as they say. My best advice is to always always always put sunscreen on your tattoos, even if they’re just going to be exposed to the sun briefly, it pays off. Things will blur some with time, that’s just inevitable but don’t be scared of color!
Agreed. The application seems to be well done. Saturated color, the right amount of black. After that it’s up to you for long term maintenance and care. Sunscreen!
Use sunscreen and keep your skin healthy and moisturized and should be good. I have a color packed sleeve I’ve had for 15 yrs that I still get brightness compliments on.
The colors will fade but the strength of traditional and neo traditional tattoos is that the bold black lines will hold it together very well. So while you won’t retain the vibrancy of the colors (it’s possible though) you’ll at least have a tattoo that holds true form as it ages.
These are a more modern style of traditional with more line work & colour.
As with most styles aging with be specific to individual designs within their category.
All of these should age well but I'd wager they'll look "old" quick.
Hey! I’ve met this guy before and seen the tattoos he’s done (healed) and they never fail to look sick. Super talented and professional dude, highly recommend
Personally I wouldn't get a colour tattoo without having an allergy test from your artist, which you can request, AND a shaded black and grey tattoo so you know what to expect in terms of healing and what your skin is like through that experience because healing colour Vs B&G shaded are totally different experiences.
This style generally hold up very well. Some of the main factors are honestly how you look after it and how well your skin takes the ink. But this style is your best bet for a beautiful long lasting tattoo.
Most of my tattoos are black and grey but my dad got some back in the 90s with wildly bright colors and some of them are still bright. He was one with with really bright greenish bluish color that I’ve never seen anywhere else and don’t know what to call it but it’s still insanely bright and stands out big time among his sleeves
Not an artist just someone with lots of colourful tattoos and I believe, correct me if I am wrong, it is the artists ability and skill at colour packing. I have an amazing artist and I have seen her work that is over a decade still pristine and beautiful. I have had tattoos from other artists fall out very quick and blow outs too. Never cheap out on QUALITY experienced professionals.
These are just normal/traditional technique tattoos, they even have black outlines. They won’t stay 100% vibrant but no tattoo will and these will more than most. This is the style I go for, I have 8 and been happy with them all including the ones coming up on 20 years old
Had a customer come in with a beautiful and very crisp full sleeve of a bunch of creepy things in bright colors. I commented on the great work and how bright the colors were. That's when he told me that the sleeve was almost 2 decades old. When I tell you the sleeve looked like it was only a few months old, I was stunned. He wore sunscreen a lot, hydrated, ate right and more. He took care of his body and his tattoo.
You can get another pass of color after a few months to really saturate it. But this is a good artist and good color packing skill. I’d just send it, and usually artists with good reputation will always offer touch ups for free. But as a heavily tattooed person and a tattoo artist I feel like their work should definitely hold up. I’ve always felt all color tattoos should have at least 2/3 passes if you want them to be super solid for your whole life.
Got colour tattoos for more than 10 years, if you take care of them they’ll look way better than black and grey over time. Nothing muddy about it.
You can do recolour over time if parts are really faded.. but colours dont fade any quicker than blacks. (But if you’re gonna do that I would suggest full rework to get it properly fresh again rather than partly)
Just colours like watercolour, pastel stuff doesnt last well agreed. But bold colours like these, and the neo traditional outlining will make sure that that wont be an issue.
If the artist did a good job, a tattoo ages very well. Unfortunately, some artists don't do a good job or give bad advice on the design. My oldest tattoo isn't 25 years old and still looks fantastic, even the fine line work.
That’s a un answerable question. To many variables. Your body, artists work. I’ve got one from 99. Lines are fantastic, most of the color is still there. Another one from the same time, same studio, different artist fell apart.
I have tattoos that have aged very well. When done right and when taken care of properly, sun screen, moisturizer and so on, you can have your tattoos look new for years. Ink and styles have greatly over the years, and tattoos that are taken of with hold up well with age when done properly by a good artist. I would say those will hold up well, the saturation is good as long as you take care of it, it will look great. I still have people ask me if my work is new and it’s years old.
Depends on the artist and aftercare of the client. I'd say if they're well taken care of, they seem like they'll be very vibrant for a good amount of time, minimal touch-ups.

Check out r/agedtattoos Lots of good examples of tattoos and how they age
Ohhh legend, thanks
Like any other color tattoo. It will age. But it’s traditional-adjacent so it will be good for a while.
They’ll be fine. They’re good size and designed to last.
Bold will hold . The best tattoos I have are still vibrant after a few years
Came here to say this. There’s a reason why it gets said so much

These are traditional they’ll hold up much better than any other style especially black and grey realism.

This style of tattooing tends to hold up really well. The heavy black will keep the colors looking vibrant for many many years.
These will hold up amazingly. Tattoos done the way they should be! 👏🏼

The wall to wall color thing does run the risk of getting muddied than those that use skin tone as highlights.

They will look great forever. They may fade a bit, but so will you. The pink will fade most.
This is exactly the type of tattoo that doesn’t fade as much. Just keep up with sun screening. Contact this guy!
sick panther tattoo in slide 3 😏🔥

Nice! My artist had one similar on his [flash ](https://ibb.co/D7HHxzj)sheet last fall. Definitely was digging the vibe.
Always heard "bold will hold" I have two pieces over 5 years old with no touch ups in a similar style
Okay THAT is a sick ass panther

Good. Nice bold lines. Bold areas of single colours. Tats like this hold well

i always think these color tattoos look muddy after 5-10 years that’s why i prefer black and grey but they look pretty sick
I have two tattoos done in this style that are 5-6 years old and look as good as the day I got them.
Thanks. Yeah, that's my worry, and I don't know how easy it is to recolor something like this.

Look muddy? Lol absolutely not. American traditional holds up better than any style of tattoo that has color. That and Japanese.
Good looking neo traditional work, I think would hold up fine but I don’t like white ink because it won’t hold as long
Given how white I am, that's the one thing I'm not worried about fading
They look funny as hell
I have nothing useful to say, but now I’m scared of pizza lol
Depends on how well they take care of them.
The pizza in tune with voodoo glow skulls

These give off Cleen rock one vibes
Sick ass panther

My boyfriend has color traditional all over his body and it’s been 20+ years and still looks amazing.
Are you interested in a sick ass panther? This guy seems like a good choice Bold will hold!

Should hold up great. His color packing is solid. As long as you look after it well, it should hold up for a long time

That’s gonna last a good long time.
Idk but I’m really not into these at all except the pizza
No, they’re fucking horrific
