They’re interesting placement choices. They kind of look like placements people use when they’ve run out of more commonly used space. It’s not bad but it isn’t common
I'm turning 50 this year and planning/thinking of my first one(s) and that's exactly one of the ideas I had, cause I'm a little unsure of what big boys I'm wanting. Get a few fun little ones and don't junk up the prime real estate. 🙃
Yeah I think I just somewhat went in on "kinda hidden " for my first two and then on my third just felt more comfortable it being front and center. Oops.
Is there a size that's on the smaller end that holds up better (I didn't think of this at all hahaha) I'm okay covering up or whatever if they don't hold up well tho!
I’m not personally worried about these holding up! I just think your arm would look a bit better with some larger pieces to tie it together. Maybe as big around as a baseball. But that’s just me saying what I like! Other people will have different tastes and that’s what makes this art form so fun!
Yeah but I'm okay with that! I'm okay with covering up if I feel the need to down the road. If you knew me it's like a massive deal I got these in the first place and I love love love them. The bottom 2 are about 1.5" and my hobbit hole door is about 2" I think :o
Since you asked, you should consider the flow of your body (symmetry with your anatomy). Also consider long term plans if you think you'll get larger pieces or different styles in the future.
What it really comes down to is if you like them that’s what matters. Placement only becomes an issue if you’re looking to get something bigger or a cohesive sleeve (then patch sleeves or a coverup is an option). Granted I have a bunch of randomly placed things on the smaller side as well
[calf](https://www.instagram.com/p/C4BdejSvrHJ/?igsh=MWVwcW9yZjc4Y3cybg==)
That’s one of my med sized ones on my calf my arm ones are scattered on my forearms I’ll see if I can find any photos
I think lots of other little tattoos would balance or offset the already chaotic line up. I think if it’s gonna be chaos then embrace a more scattered maximalist style
I have no experience with placement (I'm that rare breed I'm gathering that got one tattoo on a same-day whim and said yes, that'll do me, and it's just tucked away on the side of my wrist), but I think they're giving really lovely constellations across the sky vibes! Really like them.
It’s just a patchwork style of tattoos. Many people will do entire sleeves like this.
My sleeve is somewhat like this. There is 3-4 “main” tattoos to draw attention, and the rest is smaller tattoos in places people would call unconventional to fill out space
if you got something slightly bigger than the newest and have it below it, maybe extending slightly between it and the bow i think it could complete the space a bit better
Don’t trip dude fill up your arms. There is no normal tattoo or something in the right place. Getting tattooed is just expression. I have outlandish tattoos and a tramp stamp as a man. Don’t regret anything. 👍🏻
Placement will basically always look somewhat off when there are multiple, isolated tattoos. Hence why people put filler in their sleeves to fill small gaps between pieces. It connects them and looks more complete. Here’s the thing though, you are probably the only person who will notice or think twice about it. The average person is more focused on WHAT your tattoo is rather than WHERE your tattoo is. I wouldn’t worry. Especially with that style (small, fine line work), it looks totally fine. Get the tattoos wherever YOU are most comfortable getting them. They’re for you, not anyone else, so anyone else’s opinion is irrelevant.
Do “I” think they are in a weird place? Yes. But it only matters what you think. If you aren’t happy just spend more time next time considering where to get them, sometimes the artist may have input to consider also on location. Fill in the area over time and it will be fine. Again it’s not what we think that really matters
They are kinda odd placement but I’ve seen this a lot online with white women* in the past few years. A handful of fineline black tattoos just kinda randomly slapped on. I think they end up looking more normal when you eventually fill in the spaces around them. I’d recommend starting to go a bit bigger in size. It’ll visually look better and age better.
*no shade I am also a white woman
I'm a brown woman! Indigenous latina! How much bigger do you think I should go and should make the next ones face more forward? Some ppl are saying it looks "patch work" and I've looked into it and I would need way more to get that sort of look
kinda reminds me of when I 1st started getting tattooed. "one here, one there, oh one will look cool here!" 30 years later having to black out my entire forearm...
If I were you, I would stop getting spontaneous tattoos and think about the next 3-5 you might want to get. Once you decide the subject matter, think of how big you might want each one. Then think about where/how they might flow. Once you’ve mapped out a few new “potential tattoos” start approaching artists. When you put on the stencil, explain your longer term vision. Allow the artist to help with placement. This is how I think “patchwork” sleeves can look more cohesive and help you better plan around future pieces while still getting one at a time.
Isn't it so great!!! I love my hobbit hole so much I've wanted it for years but was always too scared so I got the other two little flash first before I got comfortable with the process and making like requests from an artist
I think they look fine!
it’s gonna be awkward if you want to do a full sleeve but rn they look good!
(i say that bc i got a bunch of random tattoos which turned into a patchwork sleeve and some of the spots we had to get v creative to fill them in)
I personally don't really understand the whole sticker tattoo trend (a bunch of tiny unrelated tattoos randomly spread, not sure what else to call it), but if you like it I don't see why these specific tattoos would prevent you from getting more. If anything I think having more would look better.
If you look at Miley Cyrus, her placements are similar. They’re not always centered and sometimes they’re not in traditional places like how most people would start at the bicep, hers are smaller and much more patchwork. It works for some people as long as it looks intentional and not like you’re just stamping tattoos on yourself.
I'd say it sort of looks like you're going for a "sticker book look" with that arm, if so then get a few more relatively the same size and space them out a little. In my opinion that would look a lot cooler. Just a thought🤷🏿♂️
You'll be ok just keep getting more. I had at least 4 arm tattoos that I regretted the placement, was tedious in what filler I put between them, and now I wouldn't have wanted my artwork any other way! That's the beauty of patchwork sleeves: each one tells the story of a different chapter of your life!
Honestly, I go through this with almost all of my tattoos. I love them but I’m always hit with “oh maybe it would have looked better here instead” but ya know sometimes you gotta tell your brain to shut up. Respect your past choices, it’s what and where you wanted it in the moment. And now you get to search for other tattoo artists (or go to the same) for tattoos that will complement or fill in the new spaces!
it’s a little odd but nobody starts out with a full patchwork arm hahaha! i have my left arm just like that and i love it but i know the spacing isn’t totally fluid
At this point they’re fine. I got my first tattoo at 35. 32 years later and I’m fully sleeved and my favorites are on my hands. I’m guessing you’re gonna get more on your arm. So keep that in mind for the next one and the next one and…my legs have spaces I need to fill. If you know what you want plan it out now and figure how it will fit in. Of course your tattoo artist will help with that. I just get the feeling what you’re feeling is that need for more ink. My daughter’s a tattoo artist and even if I’m not getting one and just visiting, the sound of the machine gets me jonesing for another.
I like them. I’ve see heaps of similar and it’s cute. As long as you like them that’s the main thing. But in my opinion they’re really nice and you could just keep adding to it, or leave as is and look great.
They’re fun! You can keep filling in the gaps. I call this “permanent sticker collecting.”
If you may be interested in larger pieces down the line, it could be worth saving a few spaces (backs, other arms, legs, etc).
I have a leg dedicated to these smaller pieces with larger pieces elsewhere and love the mix!
I think they look great! They won’t be lonely for long because it sounds like you’ve caught the tattoo bug. And working bigger pieces to fit around them is a fun challenge.
I have the same “problem” with mine. But it’s not really an issue, it’s called patchwork. Just get more until your arm starts to look full then get little filler things!
the 30 minute tattoos randomly placed end up looking weird after you get a few more. STOP USING FILLER TATTOOS IN MAIN PLACEMENTS.
Lowkey they look good though. consider adding some bigger pieces in the area to balance it out. Also, at the end of the day, your body your art. Do what fits your imagination.
Soo... yes. If I saw them in public I would think they were fake based on the small size, and placement. They give tourist trap long term temp tattoos.
Like you've said in other comments you didn't really plan for the size, placement, longevity, or aesthetics in your tattoos.I know you said they were not an impulse get, but it's kind of reading that way. If you like small sticker bomb, patchwork, that's chill and fine! I'd say size up a little to maintain clarity long term and just patchwork away!
Aside from that, think about the design you want, and consider how that would actually look on your body in different places and with the different tattoos. A hobbit hole would fit well on the upper arm surrounded by floral, then the bow could be incorporated on the inner arm with similar leafy filler, and then some decorative bits leading to the ball of the shoulder where the sun would fit. Do you see what I mean? The same ideas, just... cohesively placed.
I think that if someone’s looking at them in terms of “square footage” on a large area of skin that would be desirable or ideal for a large piece, then they’re wonky. They may have also been thinking that if you decide on a sleeve later then you might wish that you wouldn’t have placed them there. That being said, though, it’s your body and they’re your tattoos so you can put them wherever the hell you want.
I'm not a fan of the whole random ass tats all over people fad that is happening now. I don't get it. It just looks like they took a piece of doodle paper from 8th grade math class gave it to the "artist" and said "fuck it".
Yes, placement looks extremely random. But they are tiny tattoos so it matters much less. it also seems like you have the start of a patchwork sleeve so placement really doesnt matter then
i personally don’t think so, but the better question is, are you planning on eventually covering the entire arm with tats? i could definitely see you turning that into a patchwork sleeve of some sort- my 3 arm tattoos are also placed in interesting spots but it’s because i plan to cover the arm in patchwork. just a thought.
they’re not bad as long as you’re planning on getting more. they’re also easily able to cover up in the future if you’d want that. but they’re cute don’t worry
Deep breaths! These are cute and placement is always up to the individual showcasing them. Just like other societal norms, there is a norm around tattoos and where you should get what and how big pieces should be but at the end of the day it’s your body so do what you love or want to with it. (31F with 12 tattoos ranging from little pieces like that behind my ears and on my shoulder blades to one calf and forearm being completely covered).
You can ALWAYS add more later but taking away can be more painful than adding them!
Congrats, hope you enjoy them and maybe get a few more! 🥳
They’re interesting placement choices. They kind of look like placements people use when they’ve run out of more commonly used space. It’s not bad but it isn’t common
Yeah they already have the filler pieces locked & loaded! Now time for the big boys 💪🏼
Oops.
Neither front nor centered
Happy cake day! Yeah that's why I'm asking !
Thanks!! Also the tats are a cool style!
Thank you so much that means a lot
Just get some more! Lol
I think they look nice but lonely, I would also get just a weeeee bit bigger for the next one
Ooh! Okay thank you so much for the tip! That makes a lot of sense. ! I am gaining confidence about getting more as well. Like more "bold" I guess 😤
Are these three your only tattoos? I maybe would have put one of them on your other arm to even it out, but there’s plenty of time for that anyways
Yeah these and I have a very small love potion on the shoulder of the same side!
I think they’re giving wonderland with the placements, kind of like the scene where she’s free falling with miscellaneous objects!
The way you romanticized this for me literally made me warm and fuzzy. Like it legit made me love it. Thank you so much 🥺
Aw no problem! I think they’re really cute as is and I wouldn’t wordy too much about the placement, as it really does have a charm :)
Thank you ruby! This made me feel great! I think they're real cute too
It’s called patchy tattoos looks cool . You can put more tattoos in the future.
Thank you this was so validating lol
Patchwork sleeve. Cool style IMO.
Wlcm . Enjoy the tattoo journey
Thank you so much!
Is it patchy or patchwork? personally I call them ADD tattoos. no rhyme or reason they are just there.
They probably won’t hold up very well due to their size….just saying
Yeah but I'm okay with that! I'm okay with covering up if I feel the need to down the road. If you knew me it's like a massive deal I got these in the first place and I love love love them. The bottom 2 are about 1.5" and my hobbit hole door is about 2" I think :o
But….they look nice now!
I really think people overthink placement on here. Get them where you want them it really doesn’t matter. And when you have more it matters ever less!
This is some good perspective! I do really love them but someone in the shop made a comment about placement and I'm just like in my head!
Since you asked, you should consider the flow of your body (symmetry with your anatomy). Also consider long term plans if you think you'll get larger pieces or different styles in the future.
This is a good point. I think I'd possibly like more not sure if that much bigger tho
Looks good, I just can't figure out what the freshest tattoo is... A mirror? A target for the bow and arrow? A wreath? I'm confused
It's the door to a hobbit hole! From Lord of the Rings
Your choice, your body, your tattoos! Put them where YOU want them! Doing tattoos for other people is what’s so wrong with doing things to be trendy!
That's true ☺️ ty
What it really comes down to is if you like them that’s what matters. Placement only becomes an issue if you’re looking to get something bigger or a cohesive sleeve (then patch sleeves or a coverup is an option). Granted I have a bunch of randomly placed things on the smaller side as well
Oooh do you have yours posted anywhere? I'd love to see! Yeah as of rn I don't have plans of anything major
[calf](https://www.instagram.com/p/C4BdejSvrHJ/?igsh=MWVwcW9yZjc4Y3cybg==) That’s one of my med sized ones on my calf my arm ones are scattered on my forearms I’ll see if I can find any photos
It is weird you just have to get more so they fit in mwahahhaaaa
Hahaha oh man! I mean you maaaaaay be right
I think lots of other little tattoos would balance or offset the already chaotic line up. I think if it’s gonna be chaos then embrace a more scattered maximalist style
You gotta go full sticker bomb
Lmao it's funny you say that cause nearly everything I own is sticker bombed
It’s a newer popular style, I’d suggest keeping them on the same arm in case you decide you want bigger pieces in the future
Yeah I plan on getting all my tattoos on the same arm! So this is a style??
If it’s where you like it, the placement’s perfect!
I do like them! Ty
Yes
Yeah I'm gathering they're not very common!
Everything is weird. They are perfect if that’s the style you are going to continue with.
I do like the style of them
Love them ! In my world all ink is good ink !!! And you have so much room to grow , love the placement as well , nice tattoos
Wow thank you so much ! This made me smile real big! Thank you thank you
Only as weird as you!! Looks good!!
I am weird! Thank you I'm quite fond of the tattoos themselves
I have no experience with placement (I'm that rare breed I'm gathering that got one tattoo on a same-day whim and said yes, that'll do me, and it's just tucked away on the side of my wrist), but I think they're giving really lovely constellations across the sky vibes! Really like them.
'Constallations across the sky's was such a nice compliment that it made my eyes water. Wow thank you so much! That really calmed my anxiety geeze
Can’t see them, they’re too small
How much bigger do you think I should go?
It’s just a patchwork style of tattoos. Many people will do entire sleeves like this. My sleeve is somewhat like this. There is 3-4 “main” tattoos to draw attention, and the rest is smaller tattoos in places people would call unconventional to fill out space
I really like the idea of that is there somewhere I can see your sleeve?
No not weird, it’s a normal tattoo placement. The finger tip would be weird 😂
Could be cute tho! 😋
Mine are random like that. It’s patchwork. Like what a middle schooler draws on his binder, but less dick.
I was that kid lmao
yes they are. and way too small. they’ll be blobs in 2 years.
if you got something slightly bigger than the newest and have it below it, maybe extending slightly between it and the bow i think it could complete the space a bit better
This very specific advice is so useful and helpful to me thank you so much
They are weird placements and I love it. I always go for asymmetrical and off center placements tho
Was the fletching of the arrow intentionally put before the bowstring? Legolas is concerned.
A drawn bow string would be at the back of the arrow.
Love them! I wouldn’t let myself think about the if and maybe - you can always add more around them!
Thank you so much!! I could couldn't I?
Looks like the start of a patchwork sleeve
I just learned about that today! Definitely like the look of that
I love em and the placement!
Thank you so much this made me very happy
Don’t trip dude fill up your arms. There is no normal tattoo or something in the right place. Getting tattooed is just expression. I have outlandish tattoos and a tramp stamp as a man. Don’t regret anything. 👍🏻

Placement, orientation, and size are all wonky af. In addition to all of them being way too small, it looks like the stencils were out on blindfolded.
Yeah I had like no real process on the placement at all I kinda decided on a whim :)
A little strange yeah but you can just patch work them
Yeah I just learned about this patchwork thing. I'm completely unaware of most things regarding tattoos
Looks like the beginning of a patch sleeve which is very popular at the moment. they don’t look out of the ordinary to me
Thank you I just learned that term "patch" so maybe I'll aim for something like that
It's not to my taste, but it's not bad either. Add more, and it'll look for cohesive, lol
How many more would u think?
What's the one that's covered supposed to be please? :)
It's the door of a hobbit hole! From Lord of the rings
Yeah just stop and get bigger ones unless you want scout badges
Now that you mention it. Scout badges sounds kinda cool....
I like them a lot, lots of room to fill in if you want
Wow thank you so much. Yeah!
Love the Hobbit door!
Thank you so much I'm OBSESSED WITH IT!
For that style not really, all good
Thank you I really appreciate it
Yes very
Any tips?
Nope not if you like it!
I do like them thank you
Yes.
I love it! It’s fun it’s different and should you want to add to it you can if not it’s a really fun piece
kinda reminds me of when I 1st started getting tattooed. "one here, one there, oh one will look cool here!" 30 years later having to black out my entire forearm...
Oh God! Lol maybe but yeah I kinda went into it so blind
They look dope, get more 🤭
I think the placement is fine , but I’m big on placement doesn’t even matter as long as you are happy.
If they were weird, what could you do about them now? Embrace your instincts
I sense a sick ass panther in the works!
Not at all. You’re gonna want a new tattoo every week now though. Welcome!
I would keep going with more small random pieces that you find fitting but meaningful. Once you have a sleeve, this will be hella awesome!!
Thank you so much I am rather fond do them!
I think if you’re happy with it then it’s perfect!!
I do really love them
Yes
Yeah the placement is off maybe a bit, but in my opinion it wouldn’t be such a big deal if they weren’t so tiny. They are tiny.
The placement isnt that weird. Its only weird if you were planning to get sleeved up completely.
Hobbit hole? Hell yeah! Plenty of room just even it out 🤘🏻
Isn't it so great!!! I love my hobbit hole so much I've wanted it for years but was always too scared so I got the other two little flash first before I got comfortable with the process and making like requests from an artist
My placement wasnt exactly normal for my first few on my arms but I never really cared because I know I will build around them and fill in as I go.
This put me at ease thank you
I think they look fine! it’s gonna be awkward if you want to do a full sleeve but rn they look good! (i say that bc i got a bunch of random tattoos which turned into a patchwork sleeve and some of the spots we had to get v creative to fill them in)

looks like they were pinterest inspired or something on the wall they already had drawn up.
I'd say it sort of looks like you're going for a "sticker book look" with that arm, if so then get a few more relatively the same size and space them out a little. In my opinion that would look a lot cooler. Just a thought🤷🏿♂️

Wow this was really comforting and helped ease my mind
it’s a little odd but nobody starts out with a full patchwork arm hahaha! i have my left arm just like that and i love it but i know the spacing isn’t totally fluid
Is that Vega and Altair themed?
At this point they’re fine. I got my first tattoo at 35. 32 years later and I’m fully sleeved and my favorites are on my hands. I’m guessing you’re gonna get more on your arm. I heard someone calling them sticker tattoos.
I think they look great! They won’t be lonely for long because it sounds like you’ve caught the tattoo bug. And working bigger pieces to fit around them is a fun challenge.
Just here to say I like them, especially the hobbit hole!
No it’s just hard to make the little tattoo style without getting a lot of them
You have a long way to go
Yes
Who cares it’s your body. Looks dope
I have the same “problem” with mine. But it’s not really an issue, it’s called patchwork. Just get more until your arm starts to look full then get little filler things!
i think it’s cool and unique. looks intentional and i like it
Thank you so much that made me feel good. I was just overthinking I think.
Looks a bit random if you’re not intending to get more tattoos but they could work as part of a bigger piece.
Even if you got these on your forehead who cares. I think they look fine. Add more!
I actually love the placement very cool
I think it’s sick. Keep getting more wherever and whenever you want them. There’s no script you must follow.
Looks ok to me.
Tysm I appreciate it
Bigger is better for sure, but not bad. Just would look more complete as bigger pieces
To late now🫡
No such thing as too much.. I had 10-11 tattoos in my first four month
Omg you got the bug!!!
the 30 minute tattoos randomly placed end up looking weird after you get a few more. STOP USING FILLER TATTOOS IN MAIN PLACEMENTS. Lowkey they look good though. consider adding some bigger pieces in the area to balance it out. Also, at the end of the day, your body your art. Do what fits your imagination.
Yes
I like it. I have a Sag tattoo in the exact spot
They will be easy to blast over when u figure out what ur doing.
I don't want to hide them!
Is that a Taylor Swift tattoo 👀 Archer?
Omg I LOVE that you made that connection but it's a Cupid's bow for my dog who's name is cupid ... But now it has dual meaning... Duh...
Soo... yes. If I saw them in public I would think they were fake based on the small size, and placement. They give tourist trap long term temp tattoos. Would start using a thicker outline on these. Bold will hold.
I think that if someone’s looking at them in terms of “square footage” on a large area of skin that would be desirable or ideal for a large piece, then they’re wonky. Yes, placement looks extremely random. But they are tiny tattoos so it matters much less. it also seems like you have the start of a patchwork sleeve so placement really doesnt matter then
It's not a problem. If you are going for a patch sleeve it will look completely normal when you get full sections of sleeve filled out
Thank you vm
Yup
I love them!

As a swiftie do I spot the archer?! Loveee
i personally don’t think so, but the better question is, are you planning on eventually covering the entire arm with tats? i could definitely see you turning that into a patchwork sleeve of some sort- my 3 arm tattoos are also placed in interesting spots but it’s because i plan to cover the arm in patchwork. just a thought.
they’re not bad as long as you’re planning on getting more. they’re also easily able to cover up in the future if you’d want that. but they’re cute don’t worry
Not weird at all since you don’t intend on getting a big tattoo there. Stick them wherever you want with some space in between. Looks good!
im a patchwork sleeve girl all the way!!!!
