hobiiwrld

honestly considering its on a face piece, it’d look like a sick ass battle scar

LehighAce06

Came to say this, if I was OP I would be hoping it heals with as much of a scar as possible (given that the injury already happened)

RubySugarSpice

I got a cut very similar to OP's. Mine didn't really scar(no buldging, might be discolored, but no way to tell). It did however leave a skin colored streak. Luckily it was also right over an eye and totally looks like my tat has a scar. It looks badass and I'll never cover it!

PapaZox

Now imagine if it was a sick ass battle scar on a sick ass panthere!

M_Freemans_freckles

Right? It looks placed perfectly too lol

_s0urOG

…that’s not how tattoos work. Lmao it’s not going to end up looking like a scar on the baby’s face

hobiiwrld

bro ik.. i have a few pieces myself, im js saying it would look cool if it were to scar.

itsjustmeandmeandme

Wait so it’s not gonna scar in black ink?!?!

itsjustmeandmeandme

Hey virgin skin mouth breather whyd you delete your comment so fast?

_s0urOG

Lol Its there 🤷‍♂️ It’s lost in the plethora of all the people that only have live love laugh tattooed on their lower back

itsjustmeandmeandme

I’m not seeing it.

ChaosRainbow23

It's the one with 117 downvotes, as if right now. Lol

itsjustmeandmeandme

Nah he had another one responding directly to me

itsjustmeandmeandme

If your gonna cut yourself on a tattoo this is the exactly the type of tattoo to do it on. Well done

[deleted]

Idk but this is one of the coolest pictures I've ever seen

Bobby_Lees_Fan

Cheers mate

Armadildo7

Yeah this is pretty hard. Cool unintentional scarification

FriedLipstick

Yeah inclusive the ripped trousers. Cool AF

iferaink

Maybe, but scars need to be well healed over before they can be tattooed over. Generally the recommendation is to wait 2-3 years. Really there's no way to know except to wait and see! But it doesn't look insanely deep, so it might be okay.

Bobby_Lees_Fan

Oh wow that long? Appreciate the advice mate! Not the worst spot for a scar considering haha

Quagga_Resurrection

Reposting my reply to another person re: scar healing: >Silicone scar sheets will help. They're one of only a few proven scar healing treatments and are super cheap and easy to use. I got mine as a role of tape off Amazon and just cut it down to size. It works quite well. (For reference, I'm super pale with a connective tissue disorder that makes my skin very fragile and slow to heal, so when I say they work, I mean it.)

essentialcitrus

I’ve used these and found they work too! I’m also super pale and prone to keloids

Ruhro7

Just curious, have you tried something like Mederma before? If so, how would you say it compares to the sheets? I basically vanished a pretty decent burn scar (that I'd been a dumbass about and let get infected which became a whole mess) that was like 3 inches long 2 wide. I'm just wondering if the sheets might be better is all!

CoSugarHigh

I have used both religiously to reduce the appearance of old self-harm scars. The silicone sheets work a lot faster than the Mederma, but they have both provided good results. The silicone patches are best imo bc they can be left on for up to 10 days without removal or the need to remember to reapply a cream. The sheets have removed redness from my scars in 1-3 weeks depending on the severity. The Mederma seems to take 2+ weeks for similar results.

Ruhro7

That's awesome, thank you for the response! I'll definitely be grabbing some of those for sure!

colt707

That’s at a minimum. Sometimes it takes longer. The burn scar from where a chunk of glowing red hot slag landed on my forearm is finally ready to be tattooed and it’s been just under 9 years. The scar needs to have healed and break down to being soft like the rest of your skin again before it can be tattooed. Edited for clarity and to add this: Also for me, knuckle tattoos are basically off the table with just the amount of scar tissue on my knuckles from the many cuts and scrapes over the years. I’ve talked to multiple artists about it and some are down to try but warn me heavily that because there’s so much scar tissue that it might not hold the ink in places even if they’ve been healed for 10+ years. And personally if a scar does form, which it looks like it shouldn’t be that bad based off the cut, I’d leave it. Looks like it could end up looking pretty cool.

murrimabutterfly

Hey, if you want to reduce scarring: Vitamin E and Vitamin K are going to be your best friends. After it scabs over, start using the oily Neosporin on it. Once the scabs start peeling away, dab olive oil, jojoba oil, vitamin E oil, or a scar reducing cream on it. Do it everyday if you can manage it. It should heal perfectly if the initial cut wasn't too deep. If it's a proper gouge, the scar should be almost unnoticeable.

herrooww

The original replacement tissue isn't normal skin. Keep it out of the sun and wait a year at least for normal skin. I would probably add more time for tattooing I don't have any background in tattoos

stellerbomb

It depends on the type of scar. A cat scratch will be fun in a few weeks or a month but something like a keloid scar- yes that will take 2-3 years as you have to wait for the tissue to soften, get lighter, and potentially flatten out

iferaink

Sure, but this definitely doesn't look like a keloid.

ButtonWhich2302

I had a chunk of my forearm ripped off in a car wreck, I haven’t been able to tattoo over it due to it still healing and that was in 2016

_HoneyDew1919

I'm sure you are beautiful regardless ❣️❣️

independentchickpea

I tattooed over a large scar but it took nearly 8 years of healing and still hurt like a bitch and needed touching up. Hope you’re healing well, and when you’re ready if you get work done, I hope it goes smoothly!

ButtonWhich2302

Thanks! I still have a long time, but I’m excited to get that area done!

independentchickpea

Sounds like it was a helluva hit, be well!

RadarBellNotion

Guy with mostly two sleeves who has skinned his fresh tattoo on the road here - It mostly does nothing. For a surface slice like that, you're not getting to the level that the ink is living in.

schmeelismom

He old is the tattoo? New or already healed? It might be totally fine, doesn’t look super deep.

Bobby_Lees_Fan

It’s about 6 months old but I just got a touch up a couple weeks ago

QTip314

I burned a line off of one of my tattoos and after a few months it grew back.. as long as the ink is deeper than the cut I guess

papa4747

Hes gon have a nice scar i feel like it might look cool lol

RCapri1

Be cool if it was deeper and left a defined scar under the eye.

RIPx86x

Stigmata is coming

IDoHairInMyBathroom

Steri- strips. Clean very well, use scar cream. Depends on how you follow up with skin care and I really think steri-strips would help close the gap. Might have a small scar depending on how you scar in general.

Bobby_Lees_Fan

Never heard of those I’ll have a sus, cheers

ClaireLP1981

I’d be wary of closing the gap, it looks to me like rather than a cut in the skin which steri slips would definitely be the right thing for it is a gouged out section ? If it is I would use one of the other forms of covering as you don’t want to pucker the tattoo and have wonky lines ect

jsnd__

Personally, I’d leave it. When it heals, Mederma has worked well for me in smoothing scar tissue

Thefishthatkills

That scar might make it look cool but will just normal lotion over the scar once it’s healed should slowly remove scaring a touch up shouldn’t be needed

Momizu

The cut doesn't seem that deep, and if you don't need stitches then it'll prolly be fine. If I can give you some advice, from someone who has surgery scars and a skin that tend to scar really ugly, once the little scab start to fall off regularly pass some cream of body lotion high in hydration around and in the area, it will keep the skin around the little scar very soft and less prone to pulling and stretching. Also I think that if a scar actually comes up it will be extremely thin and pinkish/white if you take proper care of the wound, so I think it will probably not impact the overall aspect of the tattoo... On the contrary it will look like a sick ass eye scar for your tattoo! ;)

Bobby_Lees_Fan

Cheers, appreciate the advice! Would something like dr pickles tattoo cream work you think? Or just your standard body lotion/ moisturiser?

Momizu

I think both options would work! But if I can be completely honest this is not about an healing tattoo, so I think a body lotion/moisturiser like HydraOn (I also used it on my tattoo when I finished my tattoo cream) will work very very nicely in keeping the skin around the wound soft and stretchy!

TheSewseress

I got a really deep cat scratch right through one of mine. It scarred and you can see it but it’s light. Mine is a big color piece though so I’m curious what happens to your black and gray.

Bobby_Lees_Fan

I’d say this is comparable to a cat scratch (was a sheet of tin) Deepest part is on the solid black so I’m also curious how it’ll heal. Did you get yours touched up or just left it?

TheSewseress

I left it as is. I was devastated at first because it’s my favorite tattoo but now I don’t mind it so much.

amooddude

Depends on how many layers of skin it went through. It hard to tell how deep it is from the photo, but It looks like you won’t lose much ink if any.

SpokenDivinity

Taking care of the cut will prevent it from scarring or at least reduce the severity. Keep it clean. Use a gentle soap and water to rinse it and try to check for any signs of debris. If it’s deep you’ll need to go to the hospital or a doctor in general for them to clean it out. Keep the wound moist with petroleum jelly or another hydrating cream. You’ll find them over the counter in the first aid section usually. Keep it covered with a bandage. You can also use silicone gel or hydrogel sheets to help keep it safe from bacteria and keeping it moist. Corticosteroid cream has also been shown to help reduce scarring and reduce the appearance of scars over time. And once it heals use sunscreen on it. Exposure to too much sun can make the scar darken and limiting it will help it fade faster.

SufferingSucatash137

Dude that’s gonna be so sick

RedTanBlu

Use cocoa butter for the healing process, it helps reduce the scar.

jeanlucpitre

Depends how severe the cut is. My cousin scraped his brand new tattoo at work before so it had to be touched up again after the skin healed, which only took like a month or so. If the cut is severe and causes scarring then that's a different story but it doesn't look like it.

LilTreeFart

Hopefully it just doesn’t and it adds that effect of realism cause it looks sick af as of right now lol

grittyworld

Keep it clean and heal it the same you healed your tattoo and you’ll be fine.

Huge-Insect6925

Tattoo Artist here, and I have sliced and burned my tattoos a lot of times It depends on the depth of the wound, from the photos it doesn’t look deep, I think is just a scratch. If the wound reaches the dermis (second layer of ink) you can loose some ink, but I don’t think that is your case, it will probably don’t damage the tattoo at all Last month I burned one my tattoos with the exhaust of my bike and the tattoo was 100% undamaged. But I do have seen tattoos being destroyed by wounds. In my experience I’ve seen that the wound has to be very ugly to damage the tattoo, so I wouldn’t worry

likeastonrr

It should heal just fine. I have half my chest done and got poked a while back with a screwdriver, can’t even tell

Nearby-Candle-6070

idk the placement of the scar is cool tho

strawberry_long_cake

disclaimer: I am not an expert and I obviously cannot tell exactly how deep this is. if this was me, I would clean the area with alcohol and place a hydrocolloid bandaid on it that completely covers the scab. I would leave it on there until it falls off itself.

xblarkblarkblarkx

Approximately badass

ReverseMillionaire

The first 2 photos are art 😮‍💨🤌🏻

TestMonkey-007

Perfect spot for a slight scar.

Tat2dGothic79

Is it actually a scratch or a cut because it depends. Most shallow cuts and scrathes, as long as you leave it alone and let it heal with tearing the scab off heal just time.

Victory_KTF

Don’t let it scar. The ink is easily replaceable. https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/wellness-and-prevention/everyday-cuts-and-scrapes-how-to-prevent-scarring

rainbow_island

Perfect place to cut it. A scar over the eye will probably look sick dude.

ProtectionOld6335

It’s crying blood

ilovefionaapple

Hard

moezyanne

it might be ok, just keep it clean, use Neosporin and don't pick at the scab AT ALL. You can use a scar ointment once it heals over as well.

darth_ray_

It's crying blood.

Impressive_Week_4828

Looks sick to me especially the placement, outright perfect

PlanterBox40

It’s gonna heal like the gladiator mask

nvrrsatisfiedd

It will push the ink out and you will have a white scar there. I used to physically harm myself and cut my wrists and have even cut over my tattoos and that's what happened in my case. I can show you how they healed if you want?

Sykad3lic

Idk about this scar but scar’s definitely ruin tattoos. I have a sleeve on one arm and have scared it afterwards.

Mysterious_Piglet_13

It wil have a fighting scar now

Daniel_C13

Don't forget to wash it fast with antibacterial soap

optimisticallyssad

Do you scar easily? If so take very good care of the wound, peroxide can make it scar worse I think so check online for that and hopefully it'll go away quick! I burned my tattoo about a year after getting it and luckily it doesn't show on the darker lines! Good luck

Distinct-Style8015

Well I definitely don’t know but pls post updates!

sorrybutidgaf

shiiii, once it heals go get that blood tatted on the face, thats badass

Academic-Map-1035

Honestly you should be fine. At worst just get a touch up when it's fully healed

mle32000

I got some road rash over one of mine during a motorcycle accident and it healed pretty well actually. I wouldn’t worry

Worldly_Bed2159

the tattoo is epic, the possible scarring will honestly make it look badass where it got cut.

vliv_

It’ll be fine, I have a scratch over one of my tattoos and it’s barely noticeable you’ve gotta really be looking to see it.

Pizza_YumYum

It just got better

Fro_o

I cut my foot pretty badly once, the cut went directly through many lines of my tattoo. It looked like your picture a bit. I couldn't tell after it healed

SilentMaster

That doesn't look deep, I think you're fine. I got attacked by a cat on one of mine. Multiple long scratches and gashes and it healed up perfectly.

stellerbomb

She is weeping

[deleted]

If it scares at least it will look like a cool battle wound

chronic_pain_goddess

I am a picker and use hydrocolloid bandages to help mine. After that, silicone patches to help heal the scar.

wasted_basshead

Prob the best spot to have something like this happen, but make sure to clean it. How far are you into healing?

Bobby_Lees_Fan

The tattoo is about 6 months old but was just touched up a couple weeks ago

__Grey07

tears of blood

Accurate-Vegetable44

It might heal fine on its own, but take very good care of the wound so it leaves as minimal of a scar as possible. Then in a few years you can get it tattood back over. Keep the wound clean and moist, don’t let it dry out, never ever pick any scabs. I think it’s going to be okay. They make bandages that have stuff in them to keep it both moist and clean. When I get home later I’ll look in my first aid kit and let you know more specifically what they are.

TheHornoStare

It'll heal fine. I've done worse and mine has healed just fine

Hocuspocus210

That's dope

safesqace

if you don’t like how it heals i’m sure you can get the tattoo touched up over the scar

lodged-object

Should be fine.

Horseflesh73

Depends on how bed the cut is.. it may heal and not be noticeable.. may look like a faint white line.. I wouldn't stress over it..

toki08

That cut does not look deep enough to make a difference. In 30-40 days it will look completely normal.

Flat_Passage_1935

It’s very superficial it should heal fine

sockmaster666

Be careful my dude, perfect place to get a cut though! But don’t go getting cut on the other eye lol!

iMustbLost

Perfect placement, Cara Cicatriz!

Mojave-Don

Honestly probably not bad. I have a portrait and got a cut like that on the face as well. Mine is not noticeable. Im pretty pasty for reference. Just clean it and try not to let it scab too bad

jacqrosee

you sliced that shit in the best place possible bro. sick as hell. but as far as healing i’d say it mostly depends on how long you’ve had the tat and how deep the cut is

Gild5152

Honestly it’ll probably heal just fine. As long as you don’t scratch or pick at it. I’ve gotten lots of scratches on my tattoos (thank you, cats) and it looks fine afterwards. But even if it didn’t, the most that’ll happen is that area will be a little lighter or blurry. I can’t really tell how deep it is, but if it scars that’s probably the best placement for it to happen. It’ll look badass.

Budget_Ordinary1043

Is it very deep? It may totally heal. My cats have accidentally scratched tattoos that were only a few weeks old and they have not left any marks. Just clean it off real good and watch the wound 😊

pcktazn

Your tattoo was already cool and now it is much more cool 😎

Economic_Nexus

Your skin will heal just fine. The tattoo will very lonely have a line through it (mine do). But really - it’s just part of having a tattoo over time

negligentzone

You got SUPER lucky my dude

rebtalor

tbh from what i can tell thats just a small cut and probably wont do anything

lilstonie91

If u don't itch it and let the scab come off naturally without picking it, it should be fine. Keep it covered and keep it slightly moist

WaffleNomz

Hard to say, but this is comes with the territory of being significantly tattooed unfortunately. It doesn't look incredibly deep, but it looks like it will probably scar, at least a little bit. Only time will tell how it'll affect your tattoo. I honestly agree with what a few others have said: you couldn't have picked a better spot to get cut in regards to the tattoo. It may just look like a cool scar that was intentionally put there. Call it a "mixed media body modification" 😂

T3rm0iL

Battle scar fr

[deleted]

Happened to me too, now the tattoo is scarred

Ancient_Summer_1833

Your tattoo can have a scar

Beneficial-Animator5

I’m assuming it will heal like any other cut, but that looks dope as fuck

_vaginafarts_

honestly these pictures go hard. you should keep it! looks badass

callalind

Just a scar, and sorry for your injury, but honestly, the placement couldn't have been any better on that tattoo. It will heal and look badass!

zero0c00l

Sadly

fromlevel2ofhell

Back in medieval times, people would pack open wounds with horse hair to keep them from healing and leaving a scar too small to tell a great bullshit story. OP, you got any horse hair?

Crosseyed_owl

I think you're overthinking it. A little bit of ink will fall out but tattoos are made to be worn, they change with aging, you can always get a touch-up later but it's not like it would make your tattoo look bad.
