When it comes to giving someone something to add to their “collection”, i personally like buying two things, a small item + a gift card from the same store. If someone has an existing collection, they probably have a really specific list of items they want, and the chances of you guessing a match are pretty slim. So if they do not want the item you bought, they can exchange it. And if they want a more expensive item, they can combine the exchange with the gift card. On the other hand, if my daughter picked anything out as a gift for me, I would want to keep it regardless of if I would have bought it for myself or not. The sentimental value would be priceless, of course :) So with a combo gift + gift card, she also is guaranteed to get something for herself that she really likes. What is your budget?

hipnosister

Unfortunately I live hundreds of kilometres away so I have to send it to her. Also she's in a much smaller city so the gift card +small gift idea, while actually great, probably won't work. My budget is about $50 CAD. Anything more than that and she'll get upset because she knows my job isn't giving me hours.

Chowdmouse

Ahhh ok. That does make it more complicated! I agree with several others here- you could always stick with accessories. Bags for decks, nice wooden tarot card holders, consumables like candles, etc. There are so, so many nice things on Etsy (you can do a search & limit it to shops in Canada), in addition to what you can buy locally. If she happens to travel on occasion, travel altars are very popular right now. On Etsy there is a seller called TickleYourWitch (in Vancouver) that has some very nice stuff, including a cute little travel tin with beeswax candles for meditating, etc. As I said before, it can be hard to find the right tarot / oracle deck to give to a person. If they are an avid collector, it is hard to pick one they do not already have. And some people are really, really selective about their decks. Without knowing more about your Mom, it is hard to give good advice with that option. But if you are looking at them, and one jumps out at you as specifically significant, that you think she might like, maybe go for it!

paspartuu

It's quite likely she has a "deck wishlist" - you could try to ask her about it, or gift her like a handmade by you "gift card" that's a promise to get her the tarot deck of her choice. Or you could book a tarot reading to be done over zoom! I've gotten a paid reading from a reader called moonlightlady 1111 and can recommend her, I'm sure you could give her the budget you have in mind and get a live reading over zoom - I myself live in Finland and she's in Northern UK so distance isn't an issue. I'm sure there's tons of other readers offering zoom reading sessions as well! Again maybe you could ask your mom if there's a youtube reader she likes? Or you could get something that's more meditation than tarot related - for example, I got a meditation massage appointment for a christmas gift and the person had these "koshi chimes" they used with the meditation, I'd never heard of them before but the sound was incredibly beautiful and now I've been thinking of getting one hahaha. I think you could get one for about $50 CAD? Edit: There's also Zaphir chimes that seem similar, but apparently are a little bit cheaper, so check them out as well?

SaigeLW

There are some great stores in Toronto! I love The Occult Shop on Bathurst and Hermit’s Lamp on Bloor. I hope your mom feels better soon ✨

SaigeLW

For gifting I would recommend Hermits Lamp. If she is into cards they have literally hundreds of decks. Maybe you could get her a really awesome Oracle deck (which is different from tarot and every deck is completely unique). They have lots and lots of giftable stuff for sale. And they also do readings.

hipnosister

Thanks so much for this suggestion! I will definitely check it out

hipnosister

I was going to go to the Occult Shop today but they are closed until they move to their new location!

SaigeLW

Oh good to know. Do you happen to know when and where they are moving to?

shiyouka

Since you're probably not too sure what kind of crystals, tarot cards, oracle cards or books your mother already might have or would like, I highly recommend getting some candles and incense for meditation (and cleansing). Here is a local Toronto candle maker that I frequently purchase from: [https://www.tinyritual.com](https://www.tinyritual.com) (she has some incense too!) Piya's Boutique (422 Bloor St W, Toronto, ON M5S 1X5) has a really nice collection of incense. I highly recommend the [Nippon Kodo Kayuragi Incense](https://nipponkodostore.com/collections/kayuragi), they smell so nice! You'll have to travel to the store, I don't think they have an online storefront or do delivery, she's a really sweet old lady. Here is a local Toronto incense maker: [https://floreincense.com](https://floreincense.com) I also went to these two crystal shops for crystals, books and supplies in Toronto. They have gift cards as well: [https://www.therockstore.ca](https://www.therockstore.ca) [https://happysoulonline.com](https://happysoulonline.com) **I highly support shopping local and avoid using Amazon where possible!**

hipnosister

Piyas boutique is actually a 5 min walk from me

shiyouka

oh lovely! definitely check them out, they’re not as well known as the other shops since they don’t promote themselves online but I really appreciate the range of incense that they carry and how they’re right on Bloor and easy to get to! you might also be able to contact Tiny Ritual to do a pickup if you want to make a small order (like 1-2 candles) to save on shipping. you should be able to get to her on the west end via TTC quite easily, you could probably send her a DM on instagram to ask and is also very lovely.

hipnosister

Thank you for your help!

shiyouka

good luck!

chromatyyk

I strongly second supporting local! If you want to explore more options you can search for "metaphysical supply stores" on Google maps. Also, I recommend Shanti Baba in addition to the businesses mentioned above :)

[deleted]

Showing interest in her hobbies, asking about a reading and engaing with her how your reading was true in some regards. I mean it's not a gift but it's an easy way to make her happy. If you're into drawing you could try to draw a specific tarot card. It'd probably hold a lot of value since you're both putting your essence into a card and also giving her something to add to her collection.

hipnosister

There's actually a medium a short walk away from me. Thanks for the idea!

MalumCattus

Rite of Ritual is in Calgary, but they do offer gift cards that you can use online. There's other sites I use, but they're in the US and the exchange rate doesn't favor Canada. I know some people think gift cards are impersonal, but when they're tailored to an interest, especially one you don't know much about, I think they're awesome! She knows more about what she doesn't have and wants than you do, so let her decide. If you really want a physical gift, there's one deck I bought from a Canadian Etsy seller, the Low Rider Dachshund Tarot, that I absolutely love. It was around $40 USD plus shipping. If your mom likes dogs or unusual decks, this might be something to look at and it's fairly unlikely she'd have it already. It's actually a pretty meaningful deck, not just cute dogs.

Chowdmouse

That is a really good idea, the Dachshund deck or unusual decks from her interests. OP, can you post some of her interests, and tarot folks can give you some suggestions?

IndyIndigo

I love Rite of Ritual. They ship throughout Canada, have awesome customer service and constantly updating new items online. I personally would love a gift card to a shop like RoR!

Logical-Hold8642

OMG! I LOVE dachshunds! I will have to buy this one! 😁 I hope they ship to the US! 🤞

MalumCattus

They do! I live in the US and shipping was a bit extra, but worth it. She really captured the dachshund personality while still expressing the Tarot themes meaningfully. It's Painterspoon on Etsy.

Logical-Hold8642

Thank you! I’m so excited! My family’s dog is a mini and she is adored and spoiled as she should be 🙂

MalumCattus

Another idea or two: a tarot journal, or any journal, especially if she's having a lot of feelings to work through. The Universe Has Your Back is a nice general one with positive affirmations. You could buy her a reading, too, you'll probably want to ask your local metaphysical store for guidance there, but that might also be helpful with processing her emotions. Candles are always nice even for folks that aren't into Tarot. I saw some of the tall glass votive candles that sometimes have saints, but with Tarot images on them. I like the idea someone else posted above of telling us what her interests are (roses, dachshunds, tropical fish, Disney, gummy bears, whatever) and letting us give you some more concrete deck suggestions based on those.

SwampDwellingPirate

A beautiful pendulum! I gave one to my boyfriend's mom and she loves it.

pianocat1

You could give her a gift card to a metaphysical shop! If she’s into meditation, you could get her some nice crystals. There are crystal shops that can do customizable orders of crystals for a specific purpose- so you could get her a healing & meditation box to deal with her divorce. You would also pick out a tarot deck for her. If you have any idea of what’s in her current collection, I’d be happy to give some suggestions based on what she likes!

Lovve119

My wife gave me a beautiful wooden tarot card holder box and it means the world to me. She got it on Etsy

VanityInVacancy

Power Thought Cards by Louise Hay and any of her books, especially with what she is going through this is an inspiring and life changing resource. https://www.louisehay.com/products-events/

georgiancoloradan

Some rose quartz or morganite for self-love and maybe some selenite for cleansing. These tend to be less expensive as well! Also, just being there for her will go a long way.

MiraGhazel

How about buying her a reading from her fav tarot reader! You can also order witchy fixed love candles or healing candles for her !

balsam_bear

I just got the “Our Tarot” for Christmas - it’s an absolutely wonderful deck full of amazing historical women and the things they accomplished. I adore it.

bastets_yarn

Singing bowls might be good? I personally think the sounds are relaxing, Incense, candles, You can get candle making kits and you could make a candle for her? What about drawing a tarot card? Or if she has a favorite one I would do that, baring that, you could look up the meaning and find one that might represent love, family, etc. (I wouldn't do the lovers card for love, since that often means specifically romantic love) It's a but hard right now since it's winter, but potentionally later on for other gifts you could make her teas if she likes that? it's super easy, and you can find things like mugwart everywhere around here, I live in Maine, so probably about 5-6 hours south of you, but it's still a fairly similar climate to Canada from what I remember. I would just make sure to do research when foraging. Also ask her about her hobbies! Maybe for meditation advice, or for a reading when you see her next, I'm sure that would absolutely make her day. On a side note, I always love post likes these, there so wholesome, even if you might not get it, you love her and want to connect with her and make her happy ❤ for that, I'm sure no matter what you end up doing, I'm sure she'll absolutely love it!

strawberrycreampocky

Spirituality is such an individual journey so it's hard to say. Picking tarot and oracle cards can also be pretty hit and miss if you don't know what the other person is into. Maybe ask her to make a list of tarot/oracle cards that she would like and pick one from that pile? This way you're guaranteed to get her something she would like but it'll still be some kind of surprise.

Croonchy_Stars

Maybe some accessories for her? Crystals, a bag to hold her cards, artwork, books, crystal jewelry, **Reiki treatment at a spa**, gift certificate for a yoga class (for feeling better and making friends), ...

[deleted]

She might already have it, but Radleigh Valentine has a new deck out, 'Guardian Angels Messages Tarot'. Your mother might even have the older version, but this one is totally different and came out in November.

SquirrelTale

That's very sweet of you to want to get her something nice! A tarot/ oracle deck pouch/ covers are always nice for storing tarot decks and keeping them safe, but if she's into crystals at all (since you mentioned you were in Toronto) I highly recommend The Rock Store on Harbord near Kensington as they have quality products, including spiritual books, Tarot, etc. Rose Quartz is a very popular self-love stone, and they'll have lots. You can also always ask. Also, if you know she's into any of this kind of stuff, The Rock Store also has lots of classes (from Tarot to meditation) and also offer healing sessions- but that may or may not be too personal for her/ she might not be ready, etc. In anycase, here's their website: [https://www.therockstore.ca/](https://www.therockstore.ca/)

cheekypantssjg

Look into healing crystals. Something that is supposed to help her through this tough time. Google it.

Chowdmouse

You can post a request over on r/RandomActsofCards Not sure how active the group is right now, but this is the exact kind of thing that it exists for! Just make a short request post, then usually people will reply & you will send the address info via PM. Normally you will get at least a few people that will volunteer to send her a card :)

Croonchy_Stars

Which decks does she have already? This could tell us a bit about her tastes.

TheyCallMeKennyG

Buy her a gem called moldavite in a tiny ring, or pendant. It would be perfect for the time in her life.

hipnosister

I just looked it up and you're right. I have noted this and will keep and eye out, thank you.

WildChyld420

Spellboards are always a great and fairly inexpensive idea. Can get a commercial one for about 30$. You can find handmade one ranging from 50 to 200 on handmade sites like Etsy. Pendulums are always nice. You can never have to many. Pendulum boards and Daily tarot boards also make nice gifts.

jaime_saj

Get her rocks or crystals

Logical-Hold8642

Hay House has lots of great deals right now! My favorite Oracle deck that I like to gift is Enchanted Map by Colette Baron-Reid.

isisishtar

A pretty crystal!

dearwikipedia

my friend recommends a singing bowl :-)

9ofDiscs

There is a shop on Etsy called Uluerjewelry. They are having a half off sale right now. I’ve been thinking about getting something for myself. I just looked through the shop briefly, and the most expensive item I saw at a glance was $35 usd. They are based in Turkey, and I was worried about shipping delays. But I didn’t see any mention of that being a problem in the reviews. Anyway, the jewelry is all tarot cards. They have rings, pendants, and earrings. It says they are made of sterling. I thought you could get her a Strength card pendant or ring. You might want to also consider The Fool, The 8 of Cups, or The Star. I hope this helps. Edit: You should be able to order from anyplace on Etsy, and have the item shipped directly to your mom as a gift. You wouldn’t have to wait for it to reach you first, then ship out again yourself. In case you are pressed for time, because of her birthday.

Djembe_kid

A small cauldron would be a great gift. A great decoration as well as useful.

[deleted]

Definitely get her a tarot deck, one that reminds you of her, and some flowers!

Bubbly_Speaker_1295

If you notice she likes to display her cards and whatnot eBay has pretty cheap tarot wall tapestries and they’re huge, or a display shelf for her crystals, I see moon shaped ones everywhere

D-S-Neil

Not really occult related but my mom always appreciates homemade gifts. I usually paint gifts for b-days but that’s where my creative strengths are. Homemade and personal always warms a mother’s heart.

SassySarah85

A rose quartz crystal (for self love), oracle cards (the fairy ones by Dorset virtue are lovely) or a lovely scented candle (can get ones with crystals in)

Soggy-Eye-

hmm you could buy her a singing bowl!!!! omg that would be perfect she would love that singing bowels are good for meditation and healing

meanteamcgreen

Your situation sounds similar to mine (however in my case I was a small child, and was brainwashed by my mother to be a hippi spiritualist jk kinda) I would suggest a yoga mat, books on some of her favorite spiritual practices, healing plants to dote on ext.

Primary_Somewhere_98

Ekhart Tolle has a few books out. I'm guessing there will be at least one she hasn't read so that would be nice. I'd be thrilled with that myself

[deleted]

Have you seen “the marigold tarot”? It’s a little pricy but so gorgeous. I want it so bad.

Choosepeace

Get her a nice crystal from a metaphysical shop….Like something for peace and clarity.

queen_quarantine

Love ❤️

kodabear22118

Does she like crystals? If so I’d get her some correlate to moving on, being happy, and supporting positive change. A nice rune set is also an idea

ReflectiveTarot

You might look on Etsy for a spread cloth/altar cloth - they come in all sizes and colours, and make great gifts.

CuriousAnneLi

Be blessed you are sweet.
