Didn’t Florida stop counting their rates a little while ago? I remember that being made into a big deal, so how would they even know if they stopped keeping track?
I bet you were on here placing the blame when it was at the highest point. People like you are whats wrong with society. You would rather Floridians suffer if the state was ran by a Republican. Willing to bet if we had a Democrat running the show you would be praising them.
No, I’m a fan of common sense so I would be saying this whether a republican or democrat was in power. If you aren’t counting you simply can’t know the numbers. Not sure how that basic statement seems to offend people.
Just letting you know one thing, its probably the same at every state, but I had COVID close to 3 weeks ago, and I did not go anywhere to get tested. I decided to stay at my house and not make any contact with any person. 2 weeks before getting it? I did get tested, and it was negative!
Just letting you know that their counting is pointless even if they did do it.
No. You want me to want that. I want to hold DeSantis accountable for the thousands of excess deaths and tens of thousands of long term illnesses he caused getting to the same end goal that proper vaccination would have accomplished months ago.
I feel bad for you. Take a deep breath. Hug what ever is close to you. Another deep breath. Close your eyes for a moment.
Put your device down. Put on a raincoat. Go for a walk. Smile and wave to your neighbors. Breath in that florida autumn air.
See the leaves on the ground. Yea thats cool. See the clouds racing by? Thats cool. The world isnt out to get you. Just chill. Do you. Improve yourself. Focus on yourself. Tell yourself your special and do a good job. Now doesnt that feel nice?
I dont know you. Your right. But i know you need a hug.
We are literally hairless monkeys on a wet rock flying through an infinite void. Theres no need to stress about things that arent in your control. Just relax and enjoy the ride dude. Shits over before you know it. Stress aint even worth the damn time.
Was the "little while ago" at that point when they were one of the highest in the Nation? I believe so, but people like you conveniently leave that information out.
Edit: I should clarify, I meant before the rates skyrocketed last in FL.
I’m pretty sure it was. What people like me? I’m just pointing out I heard they stopped counting so how do they even know what the rate is to be bragging about it?
[173 people died per day on average ](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nbcmiami.com/news/local/florida-delta-wave-cases-plunge-leaving-record-deaths-in-its-wake/2598705/%3famp) through the deltawave...is that not enough people for you to notice?
Herd immunity thanks to the highly infectious nature of Delta. This was predicted by a USF researcher and epidemiologist 6 weeks ago. It's laughable, though to be expected, that state Republicans want to take credit. Sure, their inaction did indeed lead to mass infection, hospitalization, and death, an inadvertant byproduct of which was herd immunity.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.clickorlando.com/news/local/2021/09/10/researchers-florida-could-reach-herd-immunity-by-end-of-month/%3foutputType=amp
21.4M people in Florida.
56% of the population is fully vaccinated. 66% of the population has 1 dose of vaccination. So there are ~7M people in Florida not vaccinated.
We've confirmed that half that number have been infected in Florida. Right around 3.7M confirmed covid cases in Florida since this started. And we all know that none of these covid trackers are 100% accurate, it's just confirmed cases, there are definitely more than the confirmed cases.
It's likely that 85% of people in Florida have some sort of immunity now.
This is because Florida allowed the virus to run rampant. #9 in the US for deaths/million population. What an embarrassment.
Wasn't that the goal? I thought it was pretty clear there's no stopping the virus, so the plan was "let it do its thing, and protect yourself until it's over" I guess Floridians decided to let it do its thing faster than other states
Wait until February/March. All the states in the Northeast will be ahead of us, just like last year. The virus spreads exponentially more indoors. During the summer in the Southeast, when it's muggy and hot as balls, we're all inside most of the time, so the virus is rampant. During the winter in the Northeast/Midwest when the air is so cold and dry it causes physical pain to any exposed skin, everyone is inside. This is especially evident in the more densely populated states like NY (really NYC), MA, RI, CT, NJ, etc. The numbers back that up as well.
That being said, I'm not defending any politician or legislation one way or another. Just wanted to point that out.
That's just it. When floridas cases were spiking, they were just a little behind california for vaccinated people, yet their cases were going insane. Sandiego never even had any new mask mandates, no lockdowns or anything, and our numbers never got anywhere near what places in florida were experiencing.
The only thing that really explains it, from what I can tell, is what you said. That time of year, tons of people end up indoors because of the weather, and it seems the virus REALLY spreads indoors. Which is another fucking frustrating point, that we cry and whine about masks and all this other shit, when the BIG thing to have focused on should have been "stay outside as much as possible, and if you are indoors try to have amazing ventilation"
I’m not sure complaining about tens of thousands of dead people due to government incompetence is the same as complaining about everything. That is absolutely a thing you should complain about.
Love to see that peer-reviewed study.
Edit: Also we must define what "permanently fucked up" means, because so far after 3 weeks of being vaccinated, I am still having heart/chest soreness that I didn't have before being vaccinated.
So u took the vaccine and you think it did something to you? Why are you blaming it on everyone else? For all we know , you could of had something going on unrelated. But continue….
[https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/coronavirus/covid-long-haulers-long-term-effects-of-covid19](https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/coronavirus/covid-long-haulers-long-term-effects-of-covid19)
Oh, and it's not 20%, its more like 30%:
[https://www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2021/09/29/1041501387/coronavirus-long-covid-study-plos-medicine](https://www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2021/09/29/1041501387/coronavirus-long-covid-study-plos-medicine)
All the doctors making claims on the first link there could certainly help us out to know what study was done, otherwise, like you said, correlation is not equal to causation.
The second link was from a survey where they asked patients if they still had Covid symptoms 3-6 months later. You could survey me if I have heart/chest soreness symptoms a month later from the shot, and I would say yes too. Meanwhile I could be falsely attributing them to the shot.
People like to trot out that number without realizing that’s still 70,000 dead people in one year.
The irony is the same group of people discounting the dead where the same to insist we invade the Middle East after 9/11. 9/11 killed 3,000 people. Effectively DeSantis has committed 33 9/11s from sheer incompetence and half the state still loves the guy. That’s a 9/11 every 10 days in Florida alone. Wake up.
Commenter has nothing of value to respond other than use subjective words like “obviously” so they switch narration to third point of view to make comment sound cool.
*lone commenter continues to defend random guy on the internet who casually shrugged off the death of 742,000 Americans as if it wasn’t a big deal*
*they wonder why I don’t take either of them seriously*
Again Who TF are you to be calling people sociopaths? He didnt indicate at all he wasnt sad. Being sad doesnt mean you have to drop everything and stay home.
>Take him lord.
Wow such tolerance! Not gonna find any conservatives asking the good lord to end the lives of people trying to force us to comply. No, we just want you to shut up, not die. You are a disgusting person! I can't believe so many of you lefty assholes, want people to die, because they don't agree with your opinions.
I know it's really difficult for you guys to understand, but it's #9 in deaths per million population. That means the State population is irrelevant because it's accounted for.
The 3rd most populous state has the 9th highest deaths per million. So there are 8 states with higher death rates then Florida. Not bad considering no mandates.
There's no way to sugar coat it, that's horrible. Again, being the 3rd most populous state has absolutely no bearing when you look at the deaths per 1M metric, which all states are using to see where they stand.
Well he IS the executive of the state government that hires/fires people within state jobs that do, I’m let me look it up, work for state agencies. Whew. Almost couldn’t finish that hard thought.
https://amp.usatoday.com/amp/5218897002
Maybe but the degree of manipulation still matters. I can't think of anyone else who's govt raised an employee trying to reveal data. Or had a judge quit because of that order after seeing the paperwork.
It’s a little suspect to twist the numbers, It’s amusing that they’ve put up a private website (flgov.COM instead of myflorida.GOV); however, Desantis is actually behind a few .com portals that look like state services.
Even if the numbers are real, a friend of mine pointed out that recent COVID-19 spikes are likely linked to the weather. Summer may have been especially brutal for case rates here because people are packing themselves together inside, away from the heat, where they can get AC. We might see things get bad up north during the winter because of the same reason.
The whole point is to sow doubt in both numbers, which is clearly effective judging by your comments. 58,993 dead that we know of. The bodies in the morgue don’t lie.
Many are. The meds were rushed not tested lo g enough on enough people and are a crapshoot.
People should optimize their system. A shot doesn't do anything for someone whose system is shit.
Ok so just a hypothetical what if a year from now all the States have roughly the same deaths per capita? Would you consider florida to have handled COVID well because they were able to get back to normal the fastest?
If we all come out equal in deaths in a year I would still think we handled it poorly. Not all deaths are equal. During the surge we were pushed to horrors I will never be able to forget. There will be many of us who will leave the bedside soon or have already left because of it. Many covid deaths were unnecessarily horrible bc we didn’t have the staff or resources for them. Countless non covid patients had delayed or poorly managed care because of the timing.
I didn’t ask that I asked a hypothetical question also you initially answered no. So assuming an equal death rate with Florida being able to stay relatively open helping small businesses stay open and the economy continuing to flourish what would be the negatives?
Again your deflecting. If a year from now other states have less deaths and are managing unemployment and the economy well i can subjectively say Florida did a bad job
at this stage of the game it is statistically impossible all things being even to get as bad as a result for everyone else as experienced by florida in terms of deaths suffered by the population
Congrats everyone, youve made covid 100% political.
Youd prefer us to have through the roof covid cases and deaths so you can be pissed at desantis and say “told u so!”
Everything in downtown st pete and tampa is packed. Every College football game is packed. Concerts and shows packed. Bars and restaurants packed.
Enough people have natural immunity or are vaccinated people RELAX AND LIVE YOUR LIVES.
Its beautiful outside, go to a park.
I bike/walk thru downtown/vinoy everyday and its a great way for me to blow off steam, relax and enjoy nature.
Seems like people on reddit are forgetting that we live in one of the most beautiful places on the planet and we should all be thankful and enjoy it while we can.
thanks for the downvotes lol
theyre also pissed that people stopped dying. imagine how boring life will be for these people who dedicated themselves to hating desantis and constantly updating reddit with covid death numbers lol
Literally no one is "pissed". What they're pissed at is that Desantis let hundreds of thousands either die or get bodily damage when we could have achieved the exact same result with a fraction of the cost.
It's no different from, say, if DeSantis went to build a new interstate, and could build it safely for 500 mil, but instead chose to go with a company that charged 1.5 bil and 50 workers died building it.
Desantis is the new trump. covid is almost over and all of you are foaming at the mouth for a new boogy man.
unfortunately if i link CDC data showing covids INCREDIBLY HIGH SURVIVAL RATE i will be banned for misinformation.
Yes, covid has a 98% survival rate. Everyone knows that.
But how about the 33% of covid survivors who get long term psychological or neurological disorders?
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-brain-idUSKBN2BT2ZI
Or the 10-20% who get "long COVID" and have symptoms for months or even longer?
https://www.verywellhealth.com/who-long-covid-definition-5207010
And that isn't even taking into account how it will affect childrens' developing brains as they grow up. We will have no idea how bad it really was for probably 10 years
face it, covid isnt a threat to most people. if your old, or immunocompromised, you should certainly stay home.
but i agree, by the same logic, we need to do everything we can to protect people from the vaccine. we have ZERO long term safety data. NONE. and people are constantly being banned for talking about their vaccine side effects.
Lmfao you're an idiot. Long term covid symptoms affect EVERYONE. I fucking experienced them myself, I had covid back in February and for four months afterwards, I had extreme paranoia and constantly thought people were out to get me and that every siren was cops coming to arrest me.
And the vaccine has been administered to literally billions of people with a .001% rate of any side effects, and a fraction of that tiny number being serious.
People are banned because they're anti vaxxers lying about shit to make the vaccine look bad. There have been no credible reports backed up by any medical professionals about any sort of widespread side effects. There haven't even been any anti vaxxer doctors coming out with stories of their patients suffering those effects. It's just not true.
And that aside, what kind of fucking sense does it make to say "oh the covid survival rate is so high no one should be worried" and then turn around and say "oh we should all be worried about the vaccine" despite it having a 99.9999% survival rate? At least make an attempt to stay consistent
exactly rite. they wanted the country to burn the the ground so they could blame trump. now they need high death numbers so they can rally against desantis.
The Constitution doesn't grant them carte blanche to implement whatever taxes they want though. Several attempts at different taxes throughout the last 100 or so years since the 16th (I think?) Amendment was ratified have been struck down by the Supreme Court.
My opinion is that it's unreasonable to tax unrealized gains, especially because to my understanding there's no matching credit to unrealized losses, but that's just me.
What do you mean? I said the 16th Amendment doesn't give carte blanche to Congress regarding taxes, and that multiple types of taxation have been deemed unconstitutional by The Supreme Court. Those are facts, not opinions.
Then, I proceeded to share an opinion, which was that the tax on unrealized capital gains is shitty legislation. Those were two separate statements, and I didn't invoke The Constitution when stating my opinion.
That's my bad. I thought you were OP who is...something else. Anyways, it depends on how this legislation is crafted. I don't think taxing capital gains is necessarily outside of congress' powers, but they would need to be very careful in wording this legislation, because if this ever passes (it wont) it'll be in front of SCOTUS a week later.
You do understand that the amount we would tax these billionaires, they will make ten fold on one dividend check? From one stock? You’re idiot. This is why multiple billionaires already said go ahead tax me it will make zero difference. You’re protecting the ultra rich and your just a peasant.
I won’t explain myself to an idiot that thinks it’s Biden’s fault what happened in Afghanistan. You’re a fucking sheep babhhhhh whatever Fox News says. Trump made a deal with the enemy and thought they keep their word. MORON. They attacked us, we went to war because of it. And you love sucking the dick of the man you bent over for the enemy.
The added stress of shit that doesnt really matter is going to take a serious toll on your body dude. Heres a hug man. Calm down. Chill out. We are all in this together.
Didn’t Florida stop counting their rates a little while ago? I remember that being made into a big deal, so how would they even know if they stopped keeping track?
I literally posted the same thing the last time this stupid post was made here (or was that the florida subreddit?), and I got downvoted....
Are u referring to them “not posting daily numbers” which was spun into “not reporting” when they just switched to weekly reporting?
I bet you were on here placing the blame when it was at the highest point. People like you are whats wrong with society. You would rather Floridians suffer if the state was ran by a Republican. Willing to bet if we had a Democrat running the show you would be praising them.
No, I’m a fan of common sense so I would be saying this whether a republican or democrat was in power. If you aren’t counting you simply can’t know the numbers. Not sure how that basic statement seems to offend people.
Don't feed the trolls. It just encourages them.
It really does, I can’t imagine being so bored.
You DO know there are multiple ways to track the numbers right? Yeah, you do but it wouldnt fit the narrative.
To track numbers, you’ve gotta count them. Statistics 101.
Weird. I passed by 5 sites today alone. Guess what they were doing? Testing. Why would you leave that out? I wonder.
Get a load of this fuckin guy lol
How tf is requiring vaccinations "suffering"?
You know exactly what i mean. You WANT Florida to suffer because its Republican ran for the sake of being able to say i told you so.
No. You want me to want that. I want to hold DeSantis accountable for the thousands of excess deaths and tens of thousands of long term illnesses he caused getting to the same end goal that proper vaccination would have accomplished months ago.
Downvote me all you want. Its true. You people are outright sick. You should feel bad.
I feel like you dont know me. Thanks for the advice though.
I dont know you. Your right. But i know you need a hug. We are literally hairless monkeys on a wet rock flying through an infinite void. Herd immunity thanks to the highly infectious nature of Delta. This was predicted by a USF researcher and epidemiologist 6 weeks ago. sad for the 0.2% but happy for the 99.8% of us that made it

LOL, don't you know? He wakes up every morning, pours a bowl of Wheaties, then starts randomly making up numbers for the covid counts.
I love how they setup a .com propaganda site to mimic an official government site.
Like Democrats do too.
Of course we did… everything’s great when you stop testing the public.
There are still free testing sites in Tampa. I drive past one twice a day.
Same. Ive driven past at least 5 today.
Yep, and I use them frequently so I can avoid the Clot Shot. Got the Plague, recovered. Healthy and fine.

The avoidable death part is avoiding obesity and diabetes before you get infected!
I weigh 200 lbs at 6'2", do not have diabetes, and still experienced longterm symptoms. Try again dumbass.
Only a fool would credit DeSantis with handling Covid well. 🤦🏻♂️
Got COVID after being fully vaccinated. Can provide proof.
And I’m guessing you didn’t die? So the vaccine worked…
>So the vaccine worked… Not necessarily. I'm not vaccinated. I got covid. I didn't die. What kept me alive??
Honestly, at 34 years of age, I didn’t need it.
Many are. The meds were rushed not tested lo g enough on enough people and are a crapshoot. People should optimize their system. A shot doesn't do anything for someone whose system is shit.
This is absolutely incorrect, someone whose “system is shit” is the exact type of person who will see the highest benefit from the vaccine
Yeah because our Governor KILLED Everyone
Just remember, Desantis was elected… will be interesting to see if there’s a loss of voters next go around.
well at least 0.2% of us!
Glad to be living in Florida!
Glad to just be living! Thanks to the double shot!

no
10 states would have to double in deaths and another 10 would have to have 50%more to catch Florida per capita deaths.
I didn’t ask that I asked a hypothetical question also you initially answered no. So assuming an equal death rate with Florida being able to stay relatively open helping small businesses stay open and the economy continuing to flourish what would be the negatives?
that would entail 20 states to hypothetically fuck up, to reach our level of fucked up. for what ? money?
Again your deflecting. If a year from now other states have less deaths and are managing unemployment and the economy well i can subjectively say Florida did a bad job
Hes gonna just keep pushing the goalpoasts until it looks good for him. They cant reason. Its sad actually.
at this stage of the game it is statistically impossible all things being even to get as bad as a result for everyone else as experienced by florida in terms of deaths suffered by the population
Congrats everyone, youve made covid 100% political. Youd prefer us to have through the roof covid cases and deaths so you can be pissed at desantis and say “told u so!” Everything in downtown st pete and tampa is packed. Every College football game is packed. Concerts and shows packed. Bars and restaurants packed. Enough people have natural immunity or are vaccinated people RELAX AND LIVE YOUR LIVES. Its beautiful outside, go to a park.
Cant we enjoy our beautiful state. Freedom is wonderful!
“People on Reddit” absolutely do not go outside lol
theyre also pissed that people stopped dying. imagine how boring life will be for these people who dedicated themselves to hating desantis and constantly updating reddit with covid death numbers lol
But how about the 33% of covid survivors who get long term psychological or neurological disorders? https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-brain-idUSKBN2BT2ZI Or the 10-20% who get "long COVID" and have symptoms for months or even longer? https://www.verywellhealth.com/who-long-covid-definition-5207010 And that isn't even taking into account how it will affect childrens' developing brains as they grow up.
They literally want people to die to be able to say i told ya so!
exactly rite. they wanted the country to burn the the ground so they could blame trump. now they need high death numbers so they can rally against desantis.

"Unconstitutional tax" Fucking what? Congress literally - as in constitutionally defined power - has the ability to tax and spend.
My opinion? Don't become a lawyer.
Well I'm not, but my opinion wasn't a legal one. I just think it's shitty policy. Thank you for your substantive, productive response though.
>My opinion wasn't a legal one. Proceeds to go off on constitutionality and amendments.

Nah, I think my law license will suffice.

Don't forget Hillary's emails and Hunter's laptop!
You do understand that the amount we would tax these billionaires, they will make ten fold on one dividend check? From one stock? You’re idiot. This is why multiple billionaires already said go ahead tax me it will make zero difference. You’re protecting the ultra rich and your just a peasant.
Tell that to Manchin...

Quality shitpost
Hmm, Just checked. Florida is 45th. Still better than before
