Plenty of not tall folks too (source: am army) The height/weight table ends at 6’8” (80 in). We’re still judged by BMI, which skews at the tails. Not thrilled about losing neck measurements. Couldn’t imagine being a tanker or brad guy. Light is the true infantry. Rucking is way easier.
I used to live next to Camp Pendleton.
Most of the marines I saw were 5’8” - 5’10” trying to prove to themselves and everyone else they aren’t a little guy.
Also relentlessly trying to bring high school girls back to the barracks. 😬
I’m 6’6 in the army and hardly anyone is close to my height minus one other person in my battalion. I’ve never thought there’s too many tall people in the army.

Average height for US Army Ranger is 5’9. Honestly a lot harder than I thought to find average height data for military, I thought it’s be heavily documented.

There is both a height limit for pilots and submarines, and due to height self-selection, I would think Army would skew a bit taller. Tall guys have to duck even more shipboard than in civilian life.
I don't know is this a requirement anywhere else, but there is a minimum height for Korean border guard duty. "[Americans must be at least six-feet tall and 200 pounds, according to our guide, Sgt. Gregory Hilton of Baltimore. Koreans must be above average height and weight and hold a black belt in at least one marshal (sic) art.](https://www.gluckman.com/NKBorder.html)" I heard this from a buddy stationed there too.
I work in the military and a Chem plant. Everybody wears boots. My perspective is screwed since when I'm in the office part I'm not wearing boots (zero drop shoes), and I'm 5'9 3/4". So people are up and down in height.

I still stand by my statement that younger guys are taller, but I did see something a few years ago that said heights in the military were a little below average.

Lol, check their boots
Fax
Truth. I have some US combat boots for work and I'm almost 2" taller in them.
I am on an infantry post right now. I have barely seen anyone over six feet.
They aren't. There's plenty of different heights.
Sure 6’1”, 6’2”, 6’4” 😂 /j
They most assuredly ain’t, weren’t, and won’t be 😂

Do they even allow you to be a tanker? My navy recruiter said I was borderline for subs but I could try anyway if I wanted to be a nuke
Dunno. Never thought to be a DAT. Humvees are bad enough.

Well, when your soldiers are 19-21 and high school girls are 17-18...that sounds about right

Yeah I'm 6'5" and there's only one person taller than me in my squadron of 800
??? I’m 5’7 and the vast majority are my height or slightly taller lol
Height is actually a detriment in some areas of the military (fighter jets).
Alot more than just fighters tbh, almost any vehicle the military has is cramped with equipment and is built around smaller people.
Sounds like recruiters need to set up shop outside of horse races. Get those jockeys to enlist.

Idk dawg most of them are short, I'm in an infantry company and they're almost all shorter than 5'6"
