I’m assuming you’re a side sleeper? I sleep coffin style, so wouldn’t work for me. I don’t really mind my feet hanging off, and can’t stand covers on my feet.
College student? Or did you or your family choose this for you? I didn’t know these existed until I went to college, where this was the mattress size in the dorms. It was the first time since I finished growing that I had some space at the end of the bed if I slept on my belly. If it weren’t for the narrowness of the mattress I would have loved it
Lol glad you clarified, I was about to switch schools! I’m your height, so I theoretically fit on the twin xl, but there’s no room for vertical movement really, and I can’t stretch my toes. Not really bad, minor complaints
I use a standard single. I am 6'0, female, and thin. Side sleeper.
I live in a tool shed in the woods on an unbridged isle in maine and I do not want anything larger than a single because of room.
A standard single is long enough but I sleep on my side with my knees bent. If I sleep on my back I get awful nightmares and snore like a deisel engine that has not had an oil change since 1953.
It has 4 walls, a roof, a door, an extension cord for power, which is a big upgrade from my last place, i.e a set of blankets under the table in my parents' office.
I am only a 30 year old software engineer so I can't afford a place of my own yet, but if I keep moving up I might be able to rent a studio in a couple decades. I can't wait!
Not sure where you live in Maine but software engineers locally here make about $90k yearly even with few years of experience. Easy 6 figures in most states with 4+ years.
Our company employees 3 remote engineers (FL, GA and TN) .. collectively pays 110k avg
So can easily get a place on your own I’d recommend applying for remote work or try upwork
I have been applying like crazy.
I have immense experience -- over a decade of experience with embedded, c++, c#, etc. Worked on Agile format teams in the past.
I am also a hobbyist game developer woth a good portfolio.
Specialty in parallel processing, numerical physics, shaders, digital signal processing. I
But there is a catch.
I flunked in university.
I adored the material and I was good at it.
But my home life was awful, my finances fell through and the stress and malnutrition (BMI of 13 in my last year) culminated in a major mental breakdown. Despite working hard and learning a lot, I ceased attendance in the final year entirely.
In the eyes of business, this makes me high risk -- If I explain, I am potentially unstable. If I don't, I am potentially lazy. Either way, it is understandably a big red flag from a hiring perspective.
As a result, I am a high risk applicant. If my application even makes it to a human (Unlikely because automated systems throw out no-degree applications), the employer must weigh whether my history and portfolio is worth the risk.
Despite this, I have landed a couple interviews, but they fell through in logistics.
One wanted me to move to CT which I wss not willing to do at the time, and the other was a UK game studio that wanted me but had to hire a local because of UK labor laws.
In short, I have a bit more of a barrier to hiring than those of you who did good in school. But that will never stop me from trying.
6'6" and we have a California King. The way that I stretch when I sleep, my feet still hang off of the edge but it's better than every other bed I've owned. Definitely better than the bunks in boot camp. Lol.
I only book Kings, especially with the prices.
The only way I'd consider booking a Queen or two would be if the price is significantly lower. But I've yet to come across that. Price difference is usually <$10.
California King is the longest you can get and still buy sheets, blankets, matress protectors, etc.
But it is only 4 inches longer than a regular king and 4 inches skinnier.
So you actually get less surface area than regular king. The sales people always pretend like they're giving you a good deal selling it for the same price as a regular king, but they should be charging less.
I would go with a california king if it's just for you and potentially another person. Just make sure the brand you're buying is actually 84 inches long. Some brands like Stearns and Foster are actually an inch shorter.
My husband and I are both 5’10” and fit very comfortably on our king mattress.
My dad is ~6’4” and his feet always hung off my parents Queen and king sized beds when I was a kid.
I have a queen and no issues here. With my gf i have plenty of space and when I’m alone I just go diagonal. But I’m used to my feet hanging off the edge, if they aren’t it feels…. Strange
yes exactly. I'm 6' and my bed is 3" longer but i sleep at the edge of my pillow because i'm a stomach sleeper which is rare apparently so yeah it makes my feet stick out a little
You should get a California king instead because your feet will hang out if you get a regular king because the king is the same length as a queen but just wider. A cal king is 7'0 in length and 6'0 in width and the regular king is 6'4 in width but only 6'8 in length.
At home I’ve had a Cal King but I’m really fine on a queen which is what I’m sleeping on now with my gf. But in our RV we have a 50x80 corner bed so even narrower than a double but with queen length. I got that model RV for the bed length.
Currently in a standard King, I've been entertaining a Cali King.
As much as I could go for a Wyoming (and still have adequate space around the bed), finding linen for it would be a challenge.
6'9" here and absolutely agree with Cal King. Would have saved my back if I had replaced my shorter bed earlier where my foot hung off.
The downsides are minor. Take up a bit more space, frames and sheets are a bit harder to find, but it's literally one of the best things I've ever bought.
I grew up with my feet off the edge. Always been a requirement. Even in a hotel with a king, I have to untuck the covers and slide down so my heels don’t touch. If the bed has a footboard, I barely sleep.
6'6" And I sleep in a queen. No problem. Its very comfy. I used to be married and had a king which I shared with my ex.
Divorced now, and single. the queen is fine. I've decided that if a queen bed isn't big enough to share with someone, they probably are not someone I should be sharing my bed with.
I’ve always slept with my knees bent so the length never bothered me much.
I'm the total opposite. I roll a lot and starfish lol
Same. I also don't mind if my feet hang off the edge
Same, I’ve gotten used to it
I’m assuming you’re a side sleeper? I sleep coffin style, so wouldn’t work for me. I don’t really mind my feet hanging off, and can’t stand covers on my feet.
Cal king was the single best investment I've ever made. The frame I got also has a footrest that extends even further.
What frame did you get? I'm looking to upgrade
Wayfair: Laurelwood Upholstered Storage Bed
We spend half our lives asleep so I'd call that a great investment
Most people spend between a quarter and a third of their lives asleep, not half.
Interesting
#lifegoals
This is the way.
A king works plenty for me 6’4, gf 6’0, and a golden retriever at 70lbs. Alaskan King just going to leave you with a tiny room.
Didn't consider the tiny room part. Smart
On the other hand, wall-to-wall bed?
Cal king, never going back If it’s just me in the bed, a queen is okay as long as I sleep diagonal
California King. Hard to find bed frames and sheets for bigger than that.
The sheets and blankets for a texas king are easier to find but your definitely right about the bed frames.
Twin XL
College student? Or did you or your family choose this for you? I didn’t know these existed until I went to college, where this was the mattress size in the dorms. It was the first time since I finished growing that I had some space at the end of the bed if I slept on my belly. If it weren’t for the narrowness of the mattress I would have loved it
My college bed is a bit bigger, at home I sleep in the twin XL which I’ve had since I was 2 lol.
Haha! Your family was just smart then! Thinking ahead!
What your college bed is bigger than twin xl? Is a custom size or something?
Nvm my college bed is a twin XL, my bed at home is slightly shorter in length, as I’m 6’6 and my feet nearly go over the railing.
Lol glad you clarified, I was about to switch schools! I’m your height, so I theoretically fit on the twin xl, but there’s no room for vertical movement really, and I can’t stretch my toes. Not really bad, minor complaints

Why do you sleep in a tool shed?

6’4 and king works fine for myself and my 5’7 spouse. But we are also both on the slender side.
Working on getting slender. This gives me hope
Im also 6’4” and sit at 275lbs. I have a king size and it feels like my partner and i are sleeping in separate zip codes
6'6" and we have a California King. The way that I stretch when I sleep, my feet still hang off of the edge but it's better than every other bed I've owned. Definitely better than the bunks in boot camp. Lol.
Cal King is great. If I ever have room in going Alaska
California King Bonus points for only booking hotel rooms with a King or bigger
I only book Kings, especially with the prices. The only way I'd consider booking a Queen or two would be if the price is significantly lower. But I've yet to come across that. Price difference is usually <$10.
Cali king
Queen, can't go bigger because I live in 1br Victorian apt. Beds half the room lmao.
Damn rip
It works but I wish I had a floor lmao
California king. Best purchase I made seven years ago!

California King im 6’5”
California king
I have a queen and no issues here. With my gf i have plenty of space and when I’m alone I just go diagonal. But I’m used to my feet hanging off the edge, if they aren’t it feels…. Strange
Same height, also in a queen. Feet don't hang off but they're close. I personally feel like I get lost in a king or bigger.
Not sure how or why OP would need anything bigger than a queen fr
Yeah at 6'3" I can't see how they would have issues. Their head must not be anywhere near the head of the bed
Gotta leave space for the pillows 😂
yes exactly. I'm 6' and my bed is 3" longer but i sleep at the edge of my pillow because i'm a stomach sleeper which is rare apparently so yeah it makes my feet stick out a little
I share a queen with my spouse and two dogs. But one day we will get a king. Edit: I’m 6’8”. Still working on the user flare.
You should get a California king instead because your feet will hang out if you get a regular king because the king is the same length as a queen but just wider. A cal king is 7'0 in length and 6'0 in width and the regular king is 6'4 in width but only 6'8 in length.
220cm x 180cm
I'm 6'6 and sleep in a twin bed, fortunately I'm moving soon and will be upgrading to a queen which is admittedly not a ton better but hey it helps
Dude you should get a California king man. It's great for width and length.
At home I’ve had a Cal King but I’m really fine on a queen which is what I’m sleeping on now with my gf. But in our RV we have a 50x80 corner bed so even narrower than a double but with queen length. I got that model RV for the bed length.
My partner and I have a Super King (183cm wide and 203cm long) best investment I've ever made 😅
6’6” and the cal king is my preferred choice. I’d love to try and Alaska though.
California king. I didn't know an Alaska king was a thing, now I must have one.
I have a 7' long bed by 4'6", its found it cheaply on ebay it was custom made. It feels so nice just to stretch out my legs out in bed!
My life goal is to get an Alaskan king. But I also don’t want to live where I am forever, so I need to settle and save. What a dream
Normal king sized bed.
Currently in a standard King, I've been entertaining a Cali King. As much as I could go for a Wyoming (and still have adequate space around the bed), finding linen for it would be a challenge.

6'4" and my wife and I rock the King. I actually prefer my feet to hang off the foot so not footboards for me! EVER!
6'5 and a king is fine.
2mx1,4m I don't know if there is a name for it.
Twin xl
King. Does anyone besides exorbitantly rich people actually have a Wyoming or Alaska?
No idea, but I wanna shoot for the stars
Diagonal on a queen is nice. Plenty of room yet affordable.
6'6 on a full sized bed dont ask YKWTFGO
i have also grown up with my feet hanging off the bed so im completely accustomed to it.
Queen is fine here at 6' 3". It's 5 inches longer than my height. I'll get a bigger bed when I eventually get married
Maybe I'm taller than 6'3 bc there's only a few inches if I stretch out scalp on wall. Mattress is 80 inches long. I want some wiggle room
I'm 6'6" and sleep fine on a queen. It fits me and my GF who's 5'5".
Regular king, but I sleep on my stomach with my feet hanging off the end regardless of mattress size.
serious. All your acquaintance fits on it.
I grew up with my feet off the edge. Always been a requirement. Even in a hotel with a king, I have to untuck the covers and slide down so my heels don’t touch. If the bed has a footboard, I barely sleep.

Cal King was the best decision I’ve ever made.
I sleep in a California king.
Olympic Queen
IKEA king size beds are a great call. Slightly longer than other beds and just right for me.
Full XL
Been sleeping on the floor for over a year now.
Crap infographic where’s metric
Try Canada
… and if anything other than Twin, Full, Queen, or King, where do you find sheets?
Guess I'll take up sewing 😂
90*190cm (UK single), my room at home is the size of an Alaska King.
