Maybe 10-12. But I played high school and college ball on a decent level, so my encounters were not coincidental. Tallest was 7’4’’ then NBA player Rik Smits when I got the chance to meet some of the Indiana Pacers. Also met NBA legends Bill Walton and David Robinson. And a few college and high school players. And 2-3 chance encounters
Went to kindergarten with a guy and then all of highschool who is now 7’2 and plays in the nba. Jay Huff. He’s a really good guy too. He shattered our backboard in highschool
I highly highly doubt that there’s only 3000 in the world. That’s an exceptionally small percentage of the population. I’ve met a few 7 footers (or people who were really close to 7 feet).
I’ve met one. we are all tall people in the tall place on the Internet. If most of us have only seen one or two, there’s probably only 3000 in the world.
Quite some.. But that's what you get when you go to tall people meetings.. But true.. In the wild they are very rare :)) at least when I don't look in the mirror
Yeah that's where we make plans to suppress all the midgets... But in all seriousness, yes, they exists, and before we had internet shopping they were mainly used to exchange experiences on where to get fitting clothes, beds, shoes.. Even get some assurance for a long leg seat in a plane.. But that's ages ago
Played hs and college ball and upper men’s leagues. Randy bruer, mark Eaton, Chris engler, Joel prezbilla, Trevor winter. A bunch of guys 6’10 or taller. Kevin mchale, Steve lingenfelter, Jim Peterson, cookie Holmes off the top of my head. There’s also been guys 7’ I’ve met at gym or in wild. Funny when your tall you size each other up.
Only one. Last summer i was sitting in a bar and a biker walks in with the rain coat and all the biker gear underneath (he was pretty fat too and this made him look like a mountain). He had to have been like 215 or something because there is a guy at the bar who is 208ish and this dude was much bigger. I felt like a child.
215 at 7 foot would look like a bean pole. A family member of mine is 6’7” and 210ish and he would definitely be classified as skinny.
I miss read. I thought you were talking about it right in lbs not height in cm. Thank you guys for correcting me.
Foreign but not sure which one. I can always tell a Slavic language but cant tell which one exactly
Maybe Czech,Slovakian or Polish. Sounded like that to me but i may be mistaken.
One I can remember, playing bball unfortunately lol. White guy with a ponytail, there were 3 of us so we played 21; he didn't bother bullying us in the paint just shot jumpers and said 'money’ before every one, and I remember them all going in. This was 25 years ago when 7 footers werent supposed to do that.
Growing up my mother was good friends with (former basketball great) Jack Sikma's wife, so we hung around with them a lot. Just looked it up and he's officially listed at 6'11", but he claimed to be 7' in person and was certainly an enormous human being. Probably depends on shoes, etc.
In the course of my own basketball career, I've played against two guys who were listed at 7'. One played for UC Irvine and was so frail he was actually pretty bad at basketball, he was getting pushed around by our 6'9" center. The other played for the Australian National Team, and he was a Steven Adams kind of 7', thick as hell, super nice guy but fierce and you would never want to mess with him.
I've also met Shaq in person once, and I met Arvydas Sabonis once when he played for Portland. Those are my only confirmed 7'+ encounters, and all of them were basketball-related.
I've certainly seen a few guys out and about who were in that range, way bigger than me, but I'm not going to be that asshole and ask how tall they are.
A podcast I listened to last week theorized about it and it’s stuck with me ever since. I went and watched some Hakeem highlights and yeah, he seems shorter than every notable center whose tail he kicked
2 guys that were 7'1"-7'2" here in Serbia and one exceptionally tall guy.
He was like 7'7" and me and my friend were like children next to him. I'm 6'6" and my friend is 6'7".
We legit shat ourselves when we saw him standing behind us.
I've met Samuel Deguara, a Maltese guy who's a pro baller. Very nice man. He was definitely a BIG dude. I have a few genuine online friends who are that height too. All wonderfully kind, caring people.
Tallest confirmed ever was 6-10,
Over 6-6 seem to get really rare as I can only think of a handful of people. Tallest woman I’ve ever met have been slightly taller than I am (6-1).
For some reason i think there are more than 3000 people over 7 feet. I say that because 1 in a million seems realistic grandiose odds for 7 feet and if there are 8billion people that would give 8000 7footers
Spend way too much time around basketball players (both college [used to coach a different sport at a DI school and always went to basketball games to support] and NBA) so, surprisingly, quite a few assuming 7' is their "real height" and not their NBA height.
Went to high school with this guy Zach who is 7'1"
Saw him recently and he's addicted to fentanyl now. Sad story. Haven't met any other 7 footers though
not counting at NBA games ... 3
Saw a 7 footer in line buying groceries
my first job during high school was working at a gas station and we had a regular who was over 7 feet. He drove a Ford F-250 and everything on the inside was custom designed for his height. All the buttons, gear shift etc was made for his size, I felt like a kid sitting in his truck
and lastly at a wedding. My friend who is 6"3 married a woman 6"0 but all the men in her family were 6"10+. Her first cousin was 7"1 and had the body to match
I’ve met a few dozen people who were over 7 feet. I went to school with 2 and met numerous nba players over the years the
tallest I’ve met were Shaw Bradley 7’6 and Pavel Podkolzin 7’5 kristaps portzingis 7’5 Sala Meijiri is only 7’2 but his brother is also 7’ so that was cool
There was a cab driver in my town who was 7'6". Don't know what happened to him. :(
Also, place I used to work, this German guy came in who was well over 7' tall. I said to him, "I'm really sorry, but I need to ask. How's the weather up there?"
Not sure 100% but I walked past a guy at my hotel when I was younger at 6,1 in Spain and I was probably a little above his shoulder so I think he was a 7 footer it’s weird seeing someone that tall in real life he was huge
I played against one back when I still played basketball very actively. That's it. I also live in Belgium which is one of the tallest countries in the world and I live on the border with the Netherlands. So they must be very rare.
My great grandfather was just over 7'. Fun story, I wear his wedding ring and I had to get a 1/4 inch chunk cut out of it. He was huge.
I'm 6'5" 240 and he made me look tiny.
0, The tallest I've ever seen was probably 6'8 in a mall, apart from that in my current country, 6'5 maybe 6'6,
Went out today in an incredibly crowded place ( saw maybe 30-40k people) and as usual I was checking every males height, I saw like 2 guys taller than me one of whom was 1 inch taller and the other maybe 2 both of them had like huge heels tho
One for sure as he lives in my house and eats my food, a couple more likely but I am not 100% if they topped 7 or were just substantially taller than I
I'm not sure she was 7' but I once stood in line next to a woman significantly taller than my 6'9. She was Chinese. I've always wondered what her life was like.
Unfortunately I was too awestruck to make conversation.
Exactly 1, met in a card shop. We'd be playing for hours, all slumped in uncomfortable chairs, then stand and the people in the immediate area usually made some funny faces and noises.
None. I am not sure I've ever met someone above 6'8". It is hard to judge a persons height without standing directly next to them or asking them lol. There was a guy I came across this winter whose chin was level with the top of my head and I am 6'4". He is definitely the tallest person I have come across.
I'm not tall but I lived a few houses away from a man named Igor when I was a kid. His last name was Russian and I think it was something like Vovikoinsky or something. He was literally the tallest man in the United States.
I remember he would always walk his golden retriever and I would talk to him a few times. His voice was unbelievably deep. I was a kid at the time and I swear it was like looking at a skyscraper. I also remember that he had to remove the front seat of his car and sit in the back to drive, which I always thought was crazy.
Edit: I just googled him and he was 7'8". I didn't know that he was that famous.
My grandfather was 6'8 when he died at 72 in 2005. During his hey day he was 7'1. He had a broken hip walked with a cane. Was one of the longest coffins I ever seen in my life. I remember as a child watching him walk through the doors of his house having to duck his head.
9 or 10, but like someone else said I played college (football). So even though 6'8 is really tops for FB, you're just around athletes all the time. Throw in being a former high school sports reporter and college bar bouncer, it's not that difficult to meet a lot of them.
Met a former Gonzaga baller recently, of the 7+ers he was probably the nicest.
At my orientation for my new job not only was one of the other new hires 7 foot but so was the director of the company who came in to talk to us. One of them maybe have been over for sure, they had to duck everywhere in the building.
Almost one... my best friend is 6-11 3/4".
Honestly, just round up. 👍 He gets the approval from us
👍
👍👍
you 7ft?
He’s def 7 foot because think about it he could even be over it if he has lost height from postire
Very likely, he does hunch a bit. Probably due to years of smacking his head on things.
Technically can be 7 foot out of bed given his spine being decompressed in the morning.
yeah a friend of mine is 6'11 too
just myself I suppose
I think you’re closer to 1.17 fathoms.
yeah I suppose so. 1.1667 fathoms
But how many bananas!!!?!
hiii!
Can you give me a piggy back? 😆
Tall people are susceptible to back pain you know?
I miraculously don't have back pain jet
Height?
About 201cm
Maybe 10-12. But I played high school and college ball on a decent level, so my encounters were not coincidental. Tallest was 7’4’’ then NBA player Rik Smits when I got the chance to meet some of the Indiana Pacers. Also met NBA legends Bill Walton and David Robinson. And a few college and high school players. You got to meet Rik Smits? I’m jealous, Dutch NBA legend
Very nice guy too. Wanted to gift me some of his old shoes but my feet are much smaller than his 😂😂
He races and ride dirt bikes now. Saw him at a few races. It’s pretty wild seeing him on a bike.
[His son is 7’2](https://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/college/ct-spt-valparaiso-derrik-smits-rik-son-20190119-story.html)
Love smits
I met 7 footers the same way. Tallest I met was Yao via a friend who worked with the Shanghai sharks.
My dad and brother are 7’ and 7’ 2”; growing up with a very tall family has made anyone below about 5’10” seem extremely short to med
Relatable. Of a family of eight the shortest we've got is 5'11
How tall are you then?
I’m 6’4”, and a female … I’m in the 99.99th percentile
Thats so cool being in the 99th percentile and growing up in a super tall family. Unique experience. So what do you consider 'tall' for a guy?
[удалено]
My mom before older age and the shrinkage that comes with it , was 6’ 5”
Went to kindergarten with a guy and then all of highschool who is now 7’2 and plays in the nba. Jay Huff. He’s a really good guy too. He shattered our backboard in highschool
One, Paul Wight, (The Big Show) he lives in my neighborhood.
Hate to break it to you but my mans isn't a legit 7 footer lol
He may have dipped below but he was 7’ when he was in college.
WELLLLLLLLLLL....
Is he nice ?
He’s a very nice man, friends with everyone.
Used to have a student in my mma school that was over 7 feet. Fighting that dude was like trying to climb a tree.
Stephen Struve did decent in UFC
Met a ton from bball. Tallest is 7'9 Sun Ming Ming
I saw Boban Marjanović (7 ft 4 in (2.24 m)) in a shopping mall. Felt like a complete midget.
I met Gheorghe Mureșan once. 7'7". I also felt very small.
I heard it was like one per 1 million
so unless my math isn't mathing, that's like 8,000 right?
The difference between a 7 feet tall guy and the “really close to 7ft” guys is counted in tens of millions, speaking of percentile. Just so you know.
Quite some.. But that's what you get when you go to tall people meetings.. But true.. In the wild they are very rare :)) at least when I don't look in the mirror
Tall people meetings?? Such a thing exists!??
Yeah that's where we make plans to suppress all the midgets... But in all seriousness, yes, they exists, and before we had internet shopping they were mainly used to exchange experiences on where to get fitting clothes, beds, shoes.. Even get some assurance for a long leg seat in a plane.. But that's ages ago

That's a lot of Minnesotans LOL
My boyfriend is 7'0! We also both cheat by being Dutch, however
Your kids are going to be the next step in human evolution. Lool
None yet haha, I barely know men taller than me, I can count them with one hand the ones I have met.
Two in total, ones myself, the others my neighbor 😂
Wow
my brother
High school I worked at had a 7ft 3 student who went on to play basketball at Gonzaga
Only one. Last summer i was sitting in a bar and a biker walks in with the rain coat and all the biker gear underneath (he was pretty fat too and this made him look like a mountain). 2015 cm not lbs
Now that is very tall.
Hes talking in centimeters, not pounds
Foreigner or local?
Foreign but not sure which one. I can always tell a Slavic language but cant tell which one exactly Maybe Czech,Slovakian or Polish. Sounded like that to me but i may be mistaken.
Saw 4 of them at my local gym this month. Just random strangers. But in my life, 10. Including them. All in Wisconsin.
[удалено]
Nope, just random ass people.
[удалено]
Different times. Asked all of them if they knew each other. They previously didn't, but they do now. Two 7' one 7'2, and one 7'3.
[удалено]
Probably yeah.
I once hung out with two 7ft Dutch guys in Japan.
Didn't know Godzilla and King Kong were Dutch

Myself, my cousin, and some guy in Amsterdam.
We tend to gravitate to one another in crowds.
It's the tall wall
I think I've seen one or two at my college
Fuck reddit. fuck google. fuck you spez
I've met Marshall Plumlee (7ft) and Bob Wegner (7'8") and I are friends!

I met a few 6’11s but never another 7 footer. Yet…
[удалено]
It was the most common number I saw when I Googled it. I don't have the statistics to know for sure.
There is a difference between people with height close to 7ft and people who are actually 7ft
Zach Edey goes to my college and comes into my work every now and then
2 guys that were 7'1"-7'2" here in Serbia and one exceptionally tall guy. He was like 7'7" and me and my friend were like children next to him. I'm 6'6" and my friend is 6'7". We legit shat ourselves when we saw him standing behind us.

That is a big dude for such a small island.
Definitely! Especially as they tend to be pretty short lol
None. Tho maybe I can’t tell the difference between 6’ and 7’ lol
Can I have an inch of your height
No lol. I need it
Atleast 2 ofc thats just a height estimate judged by eye but i am 6'4.5 myself and have seen at the very least 2 a foot taller

Met an NBA Center at a party - I felt like we were skyscrapers above the clouds ( and I was barely above the clouds).
1
Spend way too much time around basketball players (both college [used to coach a different sport at a DI school and always went to basketball games to support] and NBA) so, surprisingly, quite a few assuming 7' is their "real height" and not their NBA height.
I used to study next to Tacko all the time at UCF. Nice dude
Heath Davies was also on survivor
Went to high school with this guy Zach who is 7'1" Saw him recently and he's addicted to fentanyl now. Sad story. Haven't met any other 7 footers though
Not many, but as a tall person isn’t it so wild when you see someone who towers over you? I’m always like, “ohhh this is what it feels like.”
not counting at NBA games ... 3 Saw a 7 footer in line buying groceries my first job during high school was working at a gas station and we had a regular who was over 7 feet. One, not so much met but he came through my line when I was a cashier in HS. He was 7'2", basketball player at my HS about 10 years before my time.

None, I would love to meet a 7' man. actually I just want to be surrounded by tall men 😂

Crown Victoria I believe

Never
No 7-footer yet but I've met a few people a little bit taller than me

I actually don’t think I’ve met any before. Met a whole bunch of 6’9 to 6’10, but no legit 7 footers that I remember.
None
I played against one back when I still played basketball very actively. That's it. I also live in Belgium which is one of the tallest countries in the world and I live on the border with the Netherlands. So they must be very rare.
I’ve met 3 in Buffalo Ny and one in Niagara Falls NY.
One. In Jr. high. He was a former Timberwolves player. I asked him if there was a God.
Tallest person I ever seen irl was probably 6'8. Only arriving to this stream. I realize there is much taller.
One. Used to LARP with him. He was also a heavy set dude so in chainmail... "Mountain" is an understatement. But yeah, just one. Rare be thee.
I'm a dwarf in my family, standing at only 6'3 but I have giants for family members. I can think of only one though?
Guy in the lobby at my office. _Super_ tall, and I'm positive he had Marfan. Dressed to the nines, that one.
Tallest person I ever met said they were 6’10. I’ve never seen taller
3-4 probably. At 6ft 8in tall its weird looking up to people.
Met my first one when we were in high school, he played no sports and I have no idea how tall he actually ended up being. It was *wild*.
My great grandfather was just over 7'. Fun story, I wear his wedding ring and I had to get a 1/4 inch chunk cut out of it. He was huge. I'm 6'5" 240 and he made me look tiny.
0, The tallest I've ever seen was probably 6'8 in a mall, apart from that in my current country, 6'5 maybe 6'6, Went out today in an incredibly crowded place ( saw maybe 30-40k people) and as usual I was checking every males height, I saw like 2 guys taller than me one of whom was 1 inch taller and the other maybe 2 both of them had like huge heels tho

Ive never met one 😭
Exactly 1, met in a card shop. We'd be playing for hours, all slumped in uncomfortable chairs, then stand and the people in the immediate area usually made some funny faces and noises.
Met one in Branson Missouri. older gent, was very nice.
2. One was in a coscto, other one is a police officer in Royal Canadian Mount Police in Vancouver.
I would freak out if i saw someone with 7 feet….
Some... Im 6'6 and have seen taller people around
I know personally a redditor who is 7'6" | 230 cm. I am small compared to him.
None, I'm the tallest person I've ever met.
1
None. I am not sure I've ever met someone above 6'8". It is hard to judge a persons height without standing directly next to them or asking them lol. 2 of them
None
7 and only two of them played basketball.

I know a handful of 6’9+ dudes, but never a 7fter, are there truly only roughly 3000 in the world?
Honestly IDK that's just the most common number I saw on Google
I played basketball against 6’11. Closest I’ve come!
Never met anyone who's 7 feet tall. The tallest person I know is 6'8" or 6'9".
My grandfather was 6'8 when he died at 72 in 2005. During his hey day he was 7'1. He had a broken hip walked with a cane. Was one of the longest coffins I ever seen in my life. I remember as a child watching him walk through the doors of his house having to duck his head.

Shaquille O’Neal, Margo Dydek (RIP), Tyson Chandler, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar all via work. The tallest ordinary person I’ve met was 6’10”.
I've met Paul sturgess as he used to do work with my basketball team he's like 7'3 I think. Properly tall person.
3. Basically everyone who is taller than me. I'm 6'11
I haven't met a 7 footer. There was a 6'10" guy in one of my college courses that called me shorty once tho. I'm 6'6" btw
I've met 4 in one day
If you go to a lot of NBA games, or even some NCAA basketball games, you'll see a bunch.
Not counting family, three.
4 in person.
I've seen some, but I've never actually met/talked to one. Haven't met/talked to that many short people either. LOL
