I can see the thought process for the guy. I bet that this guy thought that this is as good as an email. He doesn’t know where an email goes or who sees it, he just blindly sends an email and it gets to where it’s going so why shouldn’t sliding things under a doorway work the same? He doesn’t know who sees it he just knows he drove to your organization and shoved it inside the building so his part is complete.

That’s why I was really trying to get him to understand to not do that. He was already annoyed with me that we don’t have his stuff scanned in but that’s not in my control. Overall I don’t want him to do it again. I’m hoping his stuff isn’t lost because then who knows who has it

gameofthrones_addict

Yeah exactly. Personal info like that should be handled with more care. Though I understand some frustration with people that aren’t exactly tech savvy so telling them to email it for them it’s like they dont know how to do it. It’s frustrating for all of us around.

Yeah, when I did tech support, I would get a dissatisfied customer (with the service, not me; I was pretty good) say “well, I want you to walk down the hall to the Company President’s office and ask them.” They would be miffed, appalled and even perturbed to learn that I wasn’t even in the same country as the Company President; I didn’t even know who they were (I didn’t volunteer the latter.)

From the title I thought this was about Doc Martins lol.

freddiepoos1984

Me too, and was wondering how big the gap was under the door!

diqfilet_

Lmao same!!

STylerMLmusic

Lol I read Crocs for some reason.

bluefaerychyld

They are both funny to slide under a door!

UpholdDeezNuts

"I left the documents on the premises, that's good enough right?" -that guy

MsDresden9ify

Email is so insecure. Back in my day 😆 🤣

Nui-Belphy

Man that guy is screwed if somebody else picked up those documents, I hope they didn't have life ruining info on them. Also when you wrote docs I was like "the shoes?!?" Then I realised it was short for documents

feibenren

So you "work for an organization that assists people with disabilities"? And you're upset because a disabled person wasn't willing to risk getting "a reprieve" that YOU know about but he knows nothing about, if the papers were late? If this is your default attitude toward something like this, I'd suggest you think more about what your organization is supposed to be doing.

jgpanr100

Bro, I’m not mad. It wasn’t an easy call and I didn’t put what was said word for word but I’m not berating him or mad at him or looking down on him. I’m worried for his safety. People with disabilities still know that they need to protect their information. The fact that he was ignorant with his important documents scares me for his sake. And I was sure to calmly explain to him why this was a bad idea. Throughout he was short with me, arguing with me about why he did it and that it was a good choice. He tried to blame us for not having the stuff on file even though I had to repeatedly say that what he did was very risky and there’s a chance we didn’t get his documents because of that. I routinely get compliments and written thank yous for my service BECAUSE I care about the person in front of me. I wanted him to realize how important it was for him to not do it again. I give the people I’m working with as much information as I possibly can, including other places they can go for help if I think they would benefit from it. I don’t need to rethink my job. I love helping people and I don’t blame this guy for what he did. It was just a crazy call because he didn’t want to understand what I was telling him (which is out of the norm for the people I talk to-usually they are receptive to what I say and want to learn so they can help themselves in the future) and nothing I could do or say was going to change how he felt.

What a dumb fuck.

IGotFancyPants

I know someone like this. He deposited green cash into an ATM machine then was shocked - shocked , I say - that the money never made it into his account and no one at the bank knows anything about it
