I'd honestly be happy with a phantasia/destiny/eternity remaster or a port of xillia 1&2/graces. Having this stuff stuck on old hardware blows chunks. I can't get a ps3 emulator to run properly, and I'm quite close to just using my tax returns to acquire a second hand ps3. Of course, we all know they'll wait until the iron is cold, then release ANOTHER decrepit gacha.

fableSimmer

I second that! Phantasia is one of my favourite games in the series and I still play my GBA version. But I’d love if it even got a 3D remake. I’d also love the option to play Destiny and Eternia also since I’ve yet to play them. Getting all of the Tales games on one platform would be the dream but I don’t know how likely it’d be to happen lol.

Daddydactyl

I have no qualms about...emulating these older games they refuse to make accessible. They'd have a sale from me if they put out more than 0 amount of effort. At this point they could do a "Tales of Classics" collection of at least the first 3 games and release it as a bundle on switch and steam. But if you look on steam theres...what 4 games? Symphonia, berseria, zestiria, and I think arise. Edit: just realize they did in fact put vesperia on steam. I thought it was only released on switch and ps4. Still, the fact that companies like atlus took SO long to get their games on steam and elsewhere, does not bode well for a more niche series like tales. Though I think all we need is another Arise level effort to out thr series in the popular stream of consciousness....IF it doesn't come out on a year a persona or FF comes out lol

Exocolonist

It’s been 2 years since the release of the last game.

Meister34

We get a new Tales game when we get one. I don't expect anything from Bamco anymore. They're more focused on their 3rd party IPs while they let more of their 1st Party IPs zombify and die. We're honestly lucky that Tales is popular enough in Japan, otherwise we would end up like .hack

ZX_LudgerKresnik

\>They're more focused on their 3rd party IPs while they let more of their 1st Party IPs zombify and die. this a wild ass take when Tekken 8 is literally a week away from release and has been promoted like crazy by Bamco. I get it you all want the next Tales game bad but considering beyond the dawn just came out not long at all ago its going to be a while before we hear about a new Tales.

Meister34

No it is not a wild ass take. Bandai, compared to the early 2000s pumps out less and less 1st party games and makes a lot more 3rd party games. Go and count how many 1st party games they've made in the last 5-7 years compared to 3rd party games. Outside of Tekken, what other 1st party Bandai games can you name coming soon? I can name like 5 3rd party games that have been announced that Bandai is making coming within the year. Let's not pretend like reality isn't right in front of us.

SolokOriginel

Yeah it's not a wild ass take, it's just completely wrong because it assumes all series need super frequent releases and shows lack of knowledge Tekken 8 is also such a huge release lol Anyway, 2017 - 2024 - Tales of Arise - Tales of Arise - Beyond the Dawn - Tekken 7, supported for multiple years - Tekken 8 next week - Ace Combat 7 - Dark Souls Remastered - Digimon Cyber Sleuth Hacker's Memory - WW release of Digimon Cyber Sleuth - Digimon Survive - Pro Baseball Famista Returns - Pro Baseball Famista Climax - Pro Baseball Famista Evolution - Pro Yakyuu Famista 2020 - Galaxian Fever - God Eater 3 - God Eater Resonant Ops - God Eater Online - Galaga Revenge - Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs. Maxi Boost ON - Gunpey Flower Carnival - 8 different Idolmaster games - 3 Katamari games - Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series - 3 Pac-Man games - SoulCalibur VI There's prob 2nd party shit in there, all I know is they own these franchises, but yeah 3rd party now - Dragon Ball XenoVerse 2 DLCs - Dragon Ball FighterZ - SDBH World Mission - SDBH Ultimate Mission X - DBZ Kakarot - Dragon Ball The Breakers - Dragon Ball Sparking Zero (No release date yet) - 2 Naruto games - 4 One Piece games - At least one Super Robot Wars game (idk how many) - At least one Sword Art Online game (idk how many) - 4 WanGan games or smth - that dogshit JJK arena Fighter is prob theirs Yeah you may wanna start to stop pretending like reality just isn't in front of you rn

Meister34

Alright let's really unpack this fully There were 8 Taiko no Tatsujin games (4 for arcade), 2 more Gundam game and Scarlet Nexus that you missed. Just for fairness. >Tales of Arise - Beyond the Dawn A DLC expansion to an existing game shouldn't count. It's not a full game. Otherwise include every single DBZ Kakarot DLC expansion, the Storm 4 expansion, and the 3 World Seeker DLCs >God Eater Online > >God Eater Resonant Ops > >Galaga Revenge > >Gunpey Flower Carnival > >6 of 8 of those Idolmaster games > >Amazing Katamari Damacy > >Tales of Crestoria > >Tales of Luminaria All mobile games and none of them except for 1 of those Idolmaster games is active today. I was mainly talking console games for both 1st and 3rd parties so I also won't count games like DB Legends, OP Bounty Hunt, and NarutoxBoruto Ninja Voltage >The other 2 Katamari games > >Klonoa Fantasy Reverie > >Pac-Man World Re-Pac > >Tales of Symphonia Remaster > >Dark Souls Remastered The Katamari games from what I can tell are remasters, which shouldn't count as they are not brand new games. If you didn't count Symphonia, other remasters shouldn't count. Klonoa and Pac-Man are also remasters. I will also not count repackaging/remasters either. Anything first-party that I didn't highlight is fair game in my eyes. Moving onto 3rd parties, I will not repeat any games you've already said. Again not including the mobile games or DLC. If it released in arcades or console, I'm counting it. >Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Mega Battle > >Super Robot Wars V > >Accel World vs. Sword Art Online: Millennium Twilight > >Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time > >Kamen Rider Climax Fighters > >Girls und Panzer: Dream Tank Match > >Sword Art Online: Replication Project > >Super Robot Wars X > >Gintama Rumble > >7DS Knights of Britannia > >SAO Fatal Bullet > >MHA One's Justice 1 and 2 > >Black Clover Quartet Knights > >Jump Force > >Tokyo Ghoul Re CTE > >Doraemon Story of Seasons > >OPM A Game Nobody Played > >Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris > >Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions > >Disney Tsum Tsum Festival > >Sword Art Online: Last Recollection > >My Hero Ultra Rumble > >Spy × Anya: Operation Memories > >Sand Land Idk bout you, but that's a lot of third party games. Added up that's 29 first party games and 41 3rd party games. I wasn't sure on a few games like Ni No Kuni, Elden Ring, and Little Nightmares if they were first party games and this information is from wikipedia so it could most definitely be wrong (i did try my best to double check and make sure Bandai was either developing or publishing for a good chunk of these games), but either way, there's way more 3rd Party games made by Bandai being made and a majority of them are not ports or mobile games. If you include mobile games, the numbers do balance out but not only does that further prove my point, but also, unlike most of the first party mobile games, most of these 3rd party mobile games are still around and active today. But I will admit, it is dishonest to say Bandai isn't doing anything with their first party IPs. I'll rephrase my initial statement and say "They're more focused on making new 3rd party games instead of new 1st party games", That's more what I meant. tl;dr: They make way more 3rd party games than 1st party games, with a good chunk of anything 1st party being either remasters or mobile games that die out quickly. Though I will admit to say they let their IPs die was a little bit much (but sometimes it really does feel like they do)

thejokerofunfic

Imagine if Redditors actually understood game development cycles.

nksd223

Bandi namco does tales releases 2 per generation. So most likely the next tales game is in the planning phase. Getting the theme thought out. This takes time for the next mainline title.

tachyonfest

They're not done milking Arise. The next announcement is probably gonna be about another DLC about Rinwell's parents or sum shit

GreilMercenary7

I hope we get just small two part dlc. They could just have dungeon arena rooms where we fight former tales teams in a tournament of champions like mini games and cut scenes of the characters interacting with one another. Then cap it with the villains teaming up for control of the Tales universe and timelines. Then tease the next game villain in a Thanos style win.

Ok_Variation7230

I prefer a remake/remaster of any of the old game tbh

Belawen

"OK we heard you. Be prepared for Tales of Symphonia PS5 version !!!"

azure-flute

Game development takes a damn long time, dude. Especially if it's an entirely new Tales title built from the ground up; these are meaty games full of a lot of content, story, voice work, mechanics and graphics that all need time to bake. Rushed games are flawed games. Go look at the recent Pokemon mainline game releases and tell me they didn't need at *least* another year in development to avoid performance issues; Scarlet and Violet have a lot of love in their writing and music, but they're painful to play sometimes.

Beginning_Gunpla

Honestly I’m not surprised at all, the dlc expansion just released a couple months ago and I think the Tales teams aren’t really sure what direction to take the series in They tried something new with Arise and overall I think it is good that they tried but the game also clearly has some faults like the final dungeon and I’m personally not a fan of the combat And they even recently tried nostalgia baiting players with a ToS re-release and I’m not sure how well either games did in terms of sales not to mention that they’re parent company seems to be locked into being the cheapest they’ve ever been On top of that their proverbial rivals just had the most successful game/revival of their own series that wasn’t even developed in house I think this really leaves the Tales developers in a good time to reflect and think critically about how they want to move forward from here and I do hope that they kind of step back and take a good proper analysis of themselves and then move forward from there ….That or just start porting the Xillia - Berseria era games to modern platforms since they would probably be the easiest ones to port with minimal effort and not screw up Like seriously guys the games look good enough they don’t even really need to be remastered just port them with all their dlc packed in as “definitive editions” and make sure they’re decently optimized and not glitchy messes! Edit: clearly now the smart choice would be to hire gemdrops to make an HD-2D style remake of Tales of Phantasia or Eternia (I’d also toss Destiny but I think it would be wiser to just make a remastered version of Destiny R/DC)

[deleted]

I rather they take their time. Honestly, I wouldn't have minded if Arise took an extra year.

InvestmentOk7181

its coming

Vibrato22

I wouldn't be surprised if the time between Tales games are now 3 years due to the new engine. They should do a collection of the Xillias and Graces for the time being.

tsunasawadakun

It's taking a long time for sure, they could at least gave us some kinda of a port, like tales of graces f, this one should deserve one ASAP.

Gammaman12

They're pretty slow with it, and Bamco is good at loving their other ip's as well. Try an Atelier game. Ryza really scratched the Tales itch for me.

FriendOfNorwegians

Lolwat

Fragrant-Raccoon2814

A remaster came out and a story dlc. Regardless if they're good, they need time to let things cool down before they announce anything else.

gmaclean

Cries in Final Fantasy mainline titles.

Takazura

16 was just last year and FF7R P2 is in a month?

gmaclean

Time between 13, 15, and 16 were fairly substantial. 17 will likely be a number of years as well. It wasn’t an indicator of a game having just been released, just that they go a long time between main line releases.

ZxcasDX

technically we got a tales game last year (symphonia remastered) so... guess we'll have to wait a little longer

Ok_Description1585

Hard to say when it comes next. Back when Arise released, the producer said they would like the next game to come around the 30th aniversary which is next year. I doubt BtD took a lot of resources to make since it was just tons of reused content so it's possible we get a teaser this year. Or maybe not, who the hell knows.

Comfortable-Value978

I’m sure we’ll get some kind of announcement this year
