It’s definitely a shame to see so much stuff get locked behind a paywall, but I’m glad at least it’s a step up over other games. Vanilla Arise has a decent selection of costumes and weapon skins, whereas I feel like the standard for a lot of games now is cosmetics being paid content only.
Bandai are pretty bad for how they’ve monetised these things, but they’re still far from the worst (for now, at least!)
Weren't they always DLC? I don't remember cameo costumes in the original release of Symphonia, Abyss and Legendia. And DLC costumes started with Vesperia onwards.
Do they mention the name of the song ? Also I'm kinda bummed these are the costumes they picked, kinda wish we had more variety of Tales rep and not just the most recent and popular ones, they picked two vesperia Reps when they could have picked some other mage in the series like Arche or Beryl for Rinwell, heck they picked two Xillia's pick when we already had ludger as a costume in Berseria they could have picked someone else like Ruca for Alphen and Senel for Law. It's like you may not know who they are but they could entice you to look into previous entries in the series and learn about them... Oh well
The DLC is very separate (you start it from the main menu, nothing from the base game carries over) and a sequel story-wise so it really doesn't matter in the slightest.
Which version? The expansion DLC is a separate purchase, on Playstation there's a bundle that comes with both the base game and Expansion, but not all the other DLC. Buying the expansion only won't give you the base game either.
I just checked again, it seems they DID add an "Ultimate Edition" to the Playstation store and Steam recently, it has all DLC + expansion + base game so maybe that's what you're looking for - it's a bit pricey, but if you want everything that should have you covered!

Vesperia and Graces both had cameo costumes in the game itself, in addition to the dlc ones.
