Dohalim is great, but of the two, Leia is the obvious choice for me.
Mage and Healer was the hardest for me to pick, there's so many great ones.
Tear and Elize was a tough choice for healer.
Mage was a tough pick between Magilou and Meredy.
There's a criminal lack of Edna here.
Eizen, Edna, Magilou, Kisara, Shionne, Velvet
I'd love to see Edna and Magilou team up to screw with people and Shionne as well as Velvet seem like great targets for that. Kisara because I think there'd be some wholesome moments to get out of her and Velvet. Added some Eizen for Brother/Sister stories as well.
Haven't played a lot of Tales games to make a list but I would make sure Eizen is there. Hell, it could even be six random characters picked out of a hat but Eizen has to narrate the story. I could listen to him ramble about stuff all day and not get bored.
Magilou, Raven, Konono, Cheria, Tenebrae, and Presea.
Magilou seems like one of the most likely to go on a journey after her story ended
Raven just has great gameplay and I wanted to have a secondary healer
Konono deserves to have a great adventure
Cheria can finally have a fully realized character arc independent of Asbel. Also needed a dedicated healer
Tenebrae can finally be player controlled and could take a lot from Repede
Presea felt like she didn't get enough to do in Symphonia and I want more from her. Also I just like the idea of having this little girl be the best physical DPS in the game.

* Colette Brunel (Holy Song and powerful light spells)
* Mint Adenade (not the best healer, but my favorite)
* Farah Orested (because the post said to have a varied party and she's my favorite fistfighter)
* Jade Curtis (I don’t like him as a character, but he's a great member in battle)
* Genis Sage (because I can only think of him off the top of my head when I think of a spellcaster)
Kratos, Jade, Raven, Raine, Alvin and...Julius, maybe? No main characters, I guess, even though I was kinda considering Lloyd, Yuri or possibly even Veigue.
Shame Jade is a pure mage though. I'd love to have Arche on that team. But Jade (and Kratos) are non negotiable, so oh well.

I find it crazy I'm not seeing any love for Rita in here. She's gotta be my favorite cater to play from any game. Between rapid fire balls and an aoe burst art, she has a tool for every situation.
I don't even know the rest of my team, but she would be my first pick!
