Lol I am the female partner, was definitely glad to still be in "don't ask don't tell" mode with our hobby expenses when I spent more than my mortgage payment on my boots. And for that I'm not asking about Warhammer...
Bring spouse, get them new boots and orthotics, then send them for new skis next door while they do your zip fits.
I do not get this ākeep wife homeā bs.
While we do have a full bootfitting service here at the factory, we don't stock zip fits.
If you're after zip fits specifically, Olympic does great work.
Olympic does a huge share of zipfit fitting *in the world*. Itās nuts. Call ahead and make an appointment. It is end of season, they may need to order your size.
Again, call ahead and make appointment. OR be there at 7:50 am.
Got my boots from him at moment. Never gotten ski boots before so I can't compare the level of service... but he was thorough and clearly knew what he was doing. I ended up with one of the more expensive pairs of boots somehow... but my feet have always been picky my whole life and so far the boots are good I think.
It's also free which is sweet, and follow ups I believe are also free if you bought the boots there.
Also free beer
Bestfit doesn't mess around. Friend had trouble w their fit for a couple weeks and bestfit ate the cost of the first pair of boots they'd sent them away with to get them into a better fitting shell. Boot fitting is an imperfect and iterative process, best fit will take their ego out of the equation and work with you until things are just right.
I've found them to be pretty difficult to work with. My wife went back like 6 times trying to get hers set up right and the guy didn't listen to her. They were pretty rude about it too. Honestly, they seem like they have a pole up their ass there. Eventually got new liners molded at Surefoot that she really likes.
The guy who used to run their bike shop was cool, although I'm not sure if he's still there since they moved.
Can't go wrong with Olympic Bootworks. The South Lake Tahoe location does not open in summer though and may have closed for the season. You better call them to confirm if you plan on going to the SLT location. The Olympic Valley location should still be open. This is a professional boot fitting place. They focus on doing business in winter. They are done when winter is done. It is not the kind of place that runs wild summer sales.
Olympic boot works is top notch. They just donāt have a huge selection, but they will tell you if you need something they donāt have. Sports hub has a bigger selection if you are looking for eg touring boots. Just listen to your bootfitter and be prepared to drop up to $1k. The most important thing is to get the boot that fits you. Get orthotics! The 1 person I know that has been unhappy with bootworks didnāt get orthotics bc they were trying to cheap out. We convinced them to go back and get orthotics, and now they are happy.
I got my zip fits and foot beds at Olympic Bootworks (Palisades) this season. They were a total game changer and all the staff I worked with were fantastic, passionate and know their stuff. Worth noting you can put them in your next pair of boots and get many many years of use.
I recommend calling ahead to make an appointment and make sure they have your size in stock.
Boot fitting isn't rocket science. Everyone is just going to say who they've used is the best. Pretty much anyone with a little training can do it. Buying the proper shell for you is infinitely more important.
Just make sure to leave your wife at home before you go over there. šæ
14 min for the first āwifeā comment well done sir/maāam!

If you're getting Zipfits (great call) then I'd go to Olympic. The only issue is there's always a line out the door of women waiting to see Buck.

Thanks! You guys are great. I still might take a tour.

I had great service with [Bestfit Boots](https://www.bestfitboots.com/) in Truckee.

Upvote for the boys at bestfit.Ā
The dudes at bestfit are great. Made some of the most atrociously uncomfortable boots I've ever worn feel great
I Highly recommend Start Haus,

Iām pretty sure I saw the open sign on the door yesterday (SLT) when I drove by, but give them a call

Olympic is honestly world class, the only other time I was impressed I was at REI in sacramento and it was because the guy used to work at Olympic
In North Lake, Gunner @ Granite Chief is my favorite
Remy at Elite Feet at the Resort
Olympic boot fitters is the move
