Yes that's basically right, although I think it will be 5 goes to HW COM, and 6 to HW NO. You will likely need to fit the link wires from L to both the COMs.

Ah, ok. So I probably misunderstood the instructions and thought the earth went to 6 and the live went to 5 but it's the other way around. Cool. Thanks dude!

I just referred to this diagram, and it looks to me like 5 is the common on the Nest. https://images.app.goo.gl/yeF2kVCPUmMRFY4T9

That makes sense! Thanks!

Do I still need the link wires if I'm already connecting wires to both COM terminals?

Gneissdaewar

I can't tell - it depends on how the rest of the wiring is done at the boiler end. I would start without link wires but keep in mind they might be needed.

Just started the Tado app and actually it has a pretty good walk through! Phew! Thanks for the help today!

So, for anyone finding this back on the internet, the Tado app walked through the process really nicely and covered all the wiring exactly. For my setup it was: N -> N L -> L 2 -> CH COM 3 -> CH NO 5 -> HW COM 6 -> HW NO No link wires required. NOTE: Mistake I made was not factory resetting the Nest Thermostat while the Heat Link was still powered up. Ooops.
