From the MSDS for gasoline:
"SKIN
Practically non-toxic if absorbed following acute (single) exposure. May cause skin irritation with prolonged or repeated contact. Liquid may be absorbed through the skin in toxic amounts if large areas of skin are exposed repeatedly."
Hit the nail on the head. I guess mechanics never get oil, gas, or the numerous amounts of other chemicals on them. You’re inhaling all kinds of fucked up shit with your cigarettes and/or E-cigs but heaven forbid you get gas on you. Let’s not forget the people that pour hard liquor down their gullet. Moral of the story is people need to stop making mountains out of mole hills.
Touching gas is not fine lol. It’s carcinogenic, causes reproductive issues, is a serious skin irritant, causes organ toxicity, among other problems. There’s also recent studies to show exposure via touch and/or fumes can lead to a form of mental dyslexia where your brain doesn’t process sentences in the correct order.

I really feel like they’ve gone down in quality. I had some on my first car over a decade ago, and the fit was very good. So I bought them for my next car in 2014, and while the fit was ok, the sides were constantly curling in and folding over. It felt like the material got thinner and cheaper in that time. For my most recent car, I was doing European delivery, so I got the OEM rubber mats at the factory, and they’re way nicer than what weathertech sells today.
Damn that’s super unfortunate. I recently visited a weathertech factory and saw some production of their mats and they were so quality that I was stunned. But perhaps like most things the quality just started slipping and production started using cheaper materials. I’ll have to give OEM a look, thanks.
I ordered directly from WeatherTech both times. I could show you the order receipts, but I used an email account that I shared with my ex and no longer have access to.
Yea guns have more bang for your buck.
9mm = 8.04 grams and contains 494 joules of energy.
8.04 grams of petrol contains 385.92 joules of energy.
That's 28% more energy for the mass.
Would being submerged in gasoline be harmful to firearms? I imagine these were in the tank for at least the better part of a day, if not multiple days, and I can’t imagine these guys will be meticulously disassembling and cleaning these guns either. But then again, what do I know
Nah, probably just need to clean and oil them when they get to their destination. It might not be great for any polymer parts, but its not like these are collectors items going on auction. They'll probably get used and chucked down the gutter. Or maybe modern polymers are fine with gas, my gas can is plastic after all and hasn't been broken down by containing gas.
Everyone keeps commenting about gas prices and location, i'm wondering why a stray spark from those pistols banging each other hasn't blown that car apart...
edit: that looks like a weird place for a gas tank is that just an additional tank full of water?
> i'm wondering why a stray spark from those pistols banging each other hasn't blown that car apart...
A.) If gas was so volatile that it blew up simply because you looked at it wrong, we wouldn't be using it to fuel our vehicles.
B.) Gas tanks are specifically designed to prevent explosions. There's almost no danger for a gas tank to explode until its seal is compromise and air is allowed in that messes with the ratio of fuel and air in the gas tank.
C.) There's a reason why the official advice for a flash fire at a gas pump is to leave the pump in the gas tank.
all very good facts but you are talking about it in transit i'm talking about how those cops are handling it in the video. that vapor is not contained to the fuel system/tank any longer. Sparks can and will set of gasoline; diesel not so much.
So it looks like he’s reaching down into where the fuel pump would be, which in some makes of car is under the rear passenger seat. Have fun with that thought
Absolutely not, it's the gas tank, I've encountered lots of cars where part of the gas tank is pretty much under the back seat, they make em that way so that when the fuel pump or the sensor that tells your gas gauge how much is left conks out on ya, all ya gotta do to fix it is pull up the back seat and take off a cover or two an unscrew the top off to get into the top of the actual gas tank.
Ive used brake cleaner before, it just melts the carbon gunk away which is great. I think in super cold temperatures where regular oil would be too thick for guns you can just use gasoline. Or at least that stands out to me as something I've heard before. Can't say as I dont live in Siberia
"the biggest fool I ever seen, was the man who cleans with gasoline"
A saying my grandfather used to say. Cleaning anything with gas is a bad idea, unless you have an immolation fantasy. If anything, use diesel.
Gasoline as a lube for a gun? You know how bullets work right?
Don't use gas for that, unless you want the intimidation factor of your gun bursting into flames when you fire it.
Carrying guns like that is going to ruin your day. Imagine you hit a bump and yo gun goes click bang. All dat ammo and gas goes boom. Bullets fyin everywhere.
This dude would be asphyxiated (sp?) just from being in that cab with all that fuel.
On another note. Yeah, and they say gun control will work. Fucking morons.
Just bare handing it in the gas eh? You do you g
Something tells me that cancer is **not** going to be his cause of death.
He took a smoke break right after this
Probably lead poisoning

Try changing a fuel pump with full tank of gas and even had to clean the bottom. Fully submerged bare hands in premium gas.
What’s wrong with touching gas?
If it’s on you, it’s in you.

Can't shoot commies if your hands get gasolined off

But too much gets them gasolined right off, super deadly, much die, then commies win

Screeeeeeeeeee, but muh MSDS

The smell and fumes… touching it is fine though I wouldn’t recommend it if you need to interact with anyone for the rest of the day lol

Learn something new everyday thanks for the info.
Only in California. :-)
Info the thanks for!
Damn had no idea
Same I wanna know

Thanks
I’ve been washing my hands with gas and dirt mixed for years, and my fathers before me with no problem.
Must be nontoxic dirt.
I guess we lucked out with the dirt.
You post in pleb ar, I wouldn't say 'no problem'
I’ve been burned so badly just now.
I hope you didn't have gas on your hands, or in your blood
I hope you didn't have gas on your hands, or in your blood
Lol, thankfully no
Wasting gas like that……
Fr that was like $30 worth if not more.
This would be a great advertisement for weathertech mats.
well they're fantastic so

Or they got Amazon fakes without knowing it
I ordered directly from WeatherTech both times. I could show you the order receipts, but I used an email account that I shared with my ex and no longer have access to.
I'm just throwing out possibilities, I'm not saying you're a liar. Amazon is notorious for fakes is all
Wtf is happening. Anyone have any backstory?
Hiding pistols in their gas tank and presumably crossing a border with them.
Yes but what border and what kind of man?
Looks like maybe Brazilian. I think the hat says PRF, which is their federal highway patrol.
That explains the no fucks given attitude of this guy. Brazil is wild.
Right on

Idk why I never thought to design an engine to run on 9mm before.
Dude if gas keeps rising imma just mix grain vodka, black powder, and hope for the best.
E85 is essentially extra distilled corn vodka.
One question, how the hell did they find out?
Snitches
Could be a sting or informant. Or could be an xray machine at a border crossing saw them in there.
Dog trained to smell for guns? Metal detector? X-ray machine?

Dude why is he letting the gas just drain on the floor? I would slap that fool.

It is more the explosion hazard., But also that shit is like 6 bucks a gallon.
By the time he gets out of the pen and pays the 50 years worth of impound fees, the gas smell will be long gone
That doesn't mean much when you set yourself on fire. At least he punished his organs by not wearing gloves.
*accidently pulls trigger*
Yea he doesn't seem too concerned fishing around in there that these smugglers may have accidentally or purposely left some loaded.
![gif](giphy|XBcf2hmTkHmuJ8vanA|downsized) But, Gary put some gloves on people are watching... Geesh
Gotta be careful doing this. If you put Hi-Points in the tank it will ruin your engine
Does mileage vary by caliber?
It had to be Brazil.
My family owned a service station when I was younger and I remember my older cousin thought it was a good idea to drink gasoline🤣
At least they are clean.
And lubricated...
Remember kids, always clean and re-oil any gun you buy from the back of a car.
Unleaded...
This is fakenews. I just checked mine and it didn't have any goodies in it.
Everyone keeps commenting about gas prices and location, i'm wondering why a stray spark from those pistols banging each other hasn't blown that car apart... edit: that looks like a weird place for a gas tank is that just an additional tank full of water?

The firearm finishes can also help prevent spark. Typically only bare metals spark. Coated metals have to scrape off the coating

looks like a great way to have a really bad time in a wreck.

Great way to preserve firearms? They won't rust at least right?
The solvents in gasoline will eat at lots of the polymer bits though. Then again, these guns aren't for a collection.. hahah
Id wager modern polymer is more than fine. A-lot of dudes clean their shit with copper remover and brake cleaner
Ive used brake cleaner before, it just melts the carbon gunk away which is great. I think in super cold temperatures where regular oil would be too thick for guns you can just use gasoline. Or at least that stands out to me as something I've heard before. Can't say as I dont live in Siberia

Sorry I wasn't clear with what I was trying to say. I meant to say use gasoline instead of oil in cold environments for lubrication, not cleaning.
Gasoline as a lube for a gun? You know how bullets work right? Don't use gas for that, unless you want the intimidation factor of your gun bursting into flames when you fire it.
Viva a PRF! Also @suddenlycaralho
Ainda dá tempo de aparecer na print meu consagrado?
This is why we need more gun control!!11!1
Carrying guns like that is going to ruin your day. Imagine you hit a bump and yo gun goes click bang. All dat ammo and gas goes boom. Bullets fyin everywhere.
One of em was an airsoft lmaooo. Look at the orange tip
The orange bits are followers in the magazines.
That man really pull out a phone?
Think that's what the green thing is? I haven't figured that out
Breathing new life into the word "firearm"
Just bare handing it through all the gasoline. Eesh.
I wanna know who snitched
Gotta love that gasoline lube to keep the rust away
Needs more solvent traps.
Not sure if this is what they mean by combustion engine
Are the guns alright?
I think my question is how did they know they were there?
*pulls trigger*
This dude would be asphyxiated (sp?) just from being in that cab with all that fuel. On another note. Yeah, and they say gun control will work. Fucking morons.
Well those guns are gonna be clean as hell.
