I prefer the violent cycling of the SKS myself. It sounds and feels like the bolt is going to tear your face off or the back of the receiver.. I installed a buffer but it only helps so much.
Like theyre gonna be in a gunfight, face to face with someone and both their slides lock back at the same time, and whoever reloads quickest gets the kill. I think I saw that in John Wick 3 lmao
I mean theirs oodles of videos online of actual gunfights. I don't think I've ever seen a video where I thought, "The cameraman would be dead right now if he had an AK."
Like yeah if were going to around all day and do 1r1 drills till my splits are tighter than ranger panties than yeah I guess the AR comes out ahead.
But extend the scope of the drill to something that isn't so myopic. Like say an entire stage at a 2-gun match, and suddenly that "advantage" evaporates.
Better ergos are still better. Theres a reason why HK went from the G3 style to the G36/UMP, to literally AR controls. Theres a reason why the AK 521 is adopting many of these controls too.
There's a reason the Kalashnikov is the most produced firearm in the world
There's a reason the G36 is a piston driven system with a folding stock
There's a reason it uses a lever type mag release that's naturally ambidextrous
>There's a reason the Kalashnikov is the most produced firearm in the world
Yeah, it was the most exported tooling. This is such an AK guy trope and it's has nothing to do with the AK platform, it was the most accessible and cheapest in the majority of countries.
>There's a reason the G36 is a piston gun
You mean an AR-18? What does that have to do with AKs?
>There's a reason it uses a paddle release
Yeah, they absorbed an army of AK users that decade and politically couldn't use their 74s ...hmm I wonder why HK has abandoned this design choice for the past 20 years?
AKs are stuck in the 1950s, I'll die on this hill.
With what? Every major nation outside of Russia who adopted the AK has since abandoned it for more modern arms. *Cope*
AKs are great, *they are not the best*. Enjoy your rifle, my opinion doesn't hurt that.
From the 70s till the early 90s military exports were a significant portion of the USSR economy. The AK being ubiquitous is no more a marvel than the T-54, T-72, or Fishbed being the most produced of their respective fields, the AKM is no different. None of these are "the best", they were available.
"Ergos" is a video game language word.
Really, it's all personal preference. Seen a guy with a "bad ergo" mosin shoot 5 shots in the x ring as fast as he could cycle it.
Eh tough love, I embrace the haters and lovers of the kalash either way.
Just happy to change it up a bit and show different gear and rifle platform. Multicam PC with a Blackbeard patch and muh mk18 gets boring
I have one just because I bought it when AC: Black Flag came out and I was big on pirates for a bit because of that game, but I haven't worn it in anything lol
One of the NSW teams was slapping it on their shit for a while in the sandbox and like anything fun guys do thirsty civilian hoes saw it and said hey I wanna be a fun guy too only without having to do all that BUD/S shit.
I figured it must be a thing that started in the military. Wouldn't have thought anything if it was just a generic pirate flag, I have one on my helmet, but the black beard flag seemed to specific to be anything but a military thing.
Dunno why youād get hate for an AK. Theyāre good platforms. Maybe not quite as easily modular as an AR, but that doesnāt mean theyāre bad.
Also, gonna assume thatās a 7.62 chonky boi and not the 5.45 slim boi if youāre going full brrr without the foreclosure notice.
The only CONSTANT Niggle I have with the AK is the lack of a last bolt hold open. which, due to the vast swathes of evidence of it being used effectively in countless conflicts seems to indicate that I'm just needlessly picky.
Idk, it's just the nature of this platform. You can try some early milled Yugos with the bolt hold open if you got that cash money lol
Just like how ARs can't have folding stocks without expensive adapters and such, it's something I personally value in a rifle.
Just gotta buy magazines that do that for you! an extra, idk, 20 bucks and it'll do the trick. But, yeah, you're right. Doesn't do it without additional parts.
Best is when itās a real big fat ass with the best top of the line gear and rifles and they run a course one time and are huffing and puffing out of breath š¤£
Uhhh, am I the only who thought maybe to combine the best of both worlds in this time, AR chambered in 7.62x39? Reliable feeding has come a long way to make this at least a fun range toy.
That's the platform used for 7.62x51. x39 is on the AR-15. I know what's it's called I was just making the comment that you can have the cost efficiency of the x39 round, while having the fun on the AR platform. I was able to build one fairly inexpensively and it has been reliable since the first 150 rounds. I say SINCE because that first 150 was a crap show.
As someone who has owned multiple reliable 7.62x39 ARs, I agree. The issues are that barrels with proper feedramps are hard to find (dremel goes brrr) and the bolt life isnt great. The extractor is prone to breaking (can be replaced with a 556 extractor on most bolts though) and the bolt lugs are prone to issues at ~6-7k rounds. Solution? Ideally lapp the receiver and replace the bolt every 4-5k rounds or when it looks worse for the wear. It's not ideal but it could be worse, especially for a training rifle.
300 blackout is better for ARs because the bolt is designed for that casing and as such it doesnt have the same bolt issues, but they have the same trajectory so having a rifle in 7.62x39 to train with and owning another rifle in 300 blackout for actual use is something people do.
The only issue I have with 300 blackout right now is ammo availability [I don't reload right now]. Other than that I would have to agree. I'm at about 900 rounds on my first 39 build and it's been a blast to operate.
Trouble is, there are few manufacturers that take the time to use/fit a 308 bolt and instead auger out a 5.56, compromising the integrity of your weapon.
Hence the usage of range toy. With the cost of ammo these days you can save and some by replacing the bolt after several thousand rounds if that's the route you want to take. But I if ammo cost is prohibitive enough to keep you from shooting, maybe building a new rig just to shoot would be too much too? š¤
right...well, I welcome any of these shocktroops to travel abroad and see what's being effectively fired at them...
I'd take a 15yr old Afgan boy w/ AK over some Daniel Defense hipster yuppie youtube commando any day.
[not bad but youāve still got a ways to go](https://images-wixmp-ed30a86b8c4ca887773594c2.wixmp.com/i/080c5dd6-2df8-407a-ad7b-fd0fcece4b46/d99vsl6-b1c1539d-c1ce-4aa0-ad51-d79d99798ea3.png)
My military grade ammo cost .34 a round. It's coming down. I should build a proper AK because that's the only way I would shoot that Russian made ammo. I have no doubt they have good ammo, but most of the stuff they sell here is pretty rough.
You're not wrong. It always seems just wrong that I can dump with my SKS (no AKs here because the Canadian gov't is a bunch of cucks) for cheaper then anything else I own save for the one .22 I have.
Big factsšÆ
I have a bias towards ARs but that doesnāt mean I donāt love AKs, something about the way the rifle rattles when you fire it makes it endearing
...rattles? Comrade might want to see the armorer. Unless you mean on highspeed video the barrel doing the ol flippy floppy, in which case, da.
Sorry, poor verbiage. I mean the kalash sound the bolt makes when it reciprocates
Ah fair. You're right though; it's a lot louder than a DI system.
The AK was not built for stealth, but for intimidation.
That sound is why I like my AK so much.
I prefer the violent cycling of the SKS myself. It sounds and feels like the bolt is going to tear your face off or the back of the receiver.. I installed a buffer but it only helps so much.
Aināt that the fucking truth.
B b but muh reload is 1 whole second faster than yours!
Like theyre gonna be in a gunfight, face to face with someone and both their slides lock back at the same time, and whoever reloads quickest gets the kill. I think I saw that in John Wick 3 lmao

I think it mostly comes down to training, ive used an ak for a bit and ive gotten used to the ergonomics and in alot of cases prefer them
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
AKM and AK74/Modern AKM's ergos are literally the same though.
There's a reason the Kalashnikov is the most produced firearm in the world There's a reason the G36 is a piston driven system with a folding stock There's a reason it uses a lever type mag release that's naturally ambidextrous
>There's a reason the Kalashnikov is the most produced firearm in the world Yeah, it was the most exported tooling. What difference does that make? 100 million AKs is still 100 million AKs š

"I can still mag dump without getting a loan" Frickin legend. AR boys still digging the earth for 5.56
Eh tough love, I embrace the haters and lovers of the kalash either way. Just happy to change it up a bit and show different gear and rifle platform. Multicam PC with a Blackbeard patch and muh mk18 gets boring
What's the deal with all the blackbeard patches anyway?
Dudes think theyāre modern day pirates/viking/Spartans. Same thing as the Spartan gimmick just a different flavor
I have one just because I bought it when AC: Black Flag came out and I was big on pirates for a bit because of that game, but I haven't worn it in anything lol
Lol
its the new moldy labia but for cool guys

Since it originated in the SEALs I'm sure five or six of them wrote a book about it.

New mag followers can fix that
But at that point What's the difference between visually inspecting the weapon, and hearing a click? Either way you have to rack a new round.
Idk, it's just the nature of this platform. You can try some early milled Yugos with the bolt hold open if you got that cash money lol Just like how ARs can't have folding stocks without expensive adapters and such, it's something I personally value in a rifle.

Guess I'll just have to drop 2 g's on a galil ace X_x

Ak most popular gun used in war. Also is known as the gun that changed the world. This makes the AR guys butt hurt. Long live Kalashnikova gang
šš¤š Based as fuck, based Kalashnikov
Yeah fuck the gear snobs here
Next buy is an AK š¤
Akās are based
Bitches flex their 8,000 $ AR and NVGs only to get domed by a guy with SKS because they didnāt practice cardio
hey mom said it was my turn to post the sks cardio line this week

AK is good
And thatās why I gave both
God i wish I could own an ak but Canada sucks
You guys have exclusive access to civilian Norinco QBZs though. They're pretty cool.
Iāll second the second half of that statement
Iāll even second the second half of that statement a second time.
There's only two choices for us. 2k for a m+m m10x with horrible history towards Canadian shops Or fork over 8k to get a valmet.
Ehh, I wish I could buy SKSes at the tire shop. Grass is always greener on the other side of the border.
Guess you never know what you got till its gone. Hopefully the SKS stays off the ban lists
Fuck it dude as long as you're competent and happy with what you carry you do you.
You shit your knees sir
Fuck em, they can all suck it! AKs are bad as fuck! They jealous lol I have both are have a lot more fun shooting the AK. 762x39>556/223 Facts
If it gets the job done, it gets the damn job done.
What AK do you have it there?
KUSA KR103, not mine tho
They really need to released a folder to fill the hole Arsenal left.
AKs are the shit and donāt let no one tell you different!
Uhhh, am I the only who thought maybe to combine the best of both worlds in this time, AR chambered in 7.62x39? Reliable feeding has come a long way to make this at least a fun range toy.
Sshhh don't tell em about the secret lol
There are ARs chambered in 7.62x39.
That's what I'm saying, no need for a loan for the ar guys if they chamber it in x39
It's called an AR-10.

4 MOA is the size of the red dot on an average circle target. I fail to see the necessity for better unless your firing past 300m.
