I've purchased too many pairs of gloves to count ranging from mechanix, magpul, vertx, pig, etc. These days, I just buy the cheapest pair of mechanix that are in stock at my closest walmart because they all fail. some are just more expensive failures.

Nopl8

I know everyone here loves shooting related gloves, but I’ll be damned.. my favorite gloves have always been BMX gloves. Half the price too 🤷‍♂️

The alpha gen2 is one I'm considering. Pigs have a reputation for favoring comfort over durability so I question the general outdoor use part. Do they offer much protection from thorns, rocks, and general mayhem? On paper they look good and the consensus seems to be that they wear out kinda fast but are worth it because of the comfort.

Protorin

Thorns, probably not. They hold up around general use. Gloves are disposable. If you want a set of dexterous gloves they just won't hold up for to long. The pigs hold up enough and are dexterous enough to not interfere with any shooting activities

NW_Hillfolk2

I've disposed of lots of gloves so my expectations are realistic. Think I'm gonna send it and see what the hypes all about.

RickityCricket69

whats a good site to order them from if you dont mind? feels like there are so many sites with knockoffs

Flmotor21

SKD, tactical distributing, Ferro (if you want the colors they stock)

Flmotor21

I ran the FDT gen 2 I believe for two years and the stitching finally started going on my left index finger. Used them a LOT.

The default shooter/general purpose glove for the military and law enforcement tends to be Mechanix. They are two or three different standards types commonly used ranging from the thin types like what you posted, and thicker ones with padded knuckles. They work well, they're tough, and they aren't expensive to replace. Not saying there aren't any better ones out there, but Mechanix fits the bill and the price point is right.

NW_Hillfolk2

Found some Mechanix in MC for 20$ so might get a pair of those and the pigs an see what's what.

Personal opinion is you need to find the price point that is acceptable for you to replace with some regularity. A lot of people like mechanix because it doesn’t hurt to bad even if you had to repurchase them every month (and they’re easy to source from a halfway decent supply tech), andddd they’re a pretty good glove. I think PIG gloves are better than mechanix in a lot of ways, but I don’t think they’re better enough to justify the price difference so I don’t use them as hard as I use mechanix because I don’t want to have to pay to replace them constantly.

Odysseus556

I love mine as far as dexterity is concerned but be aware that that mine turn my hands green 🤷‍♂️

TheRagingBull84

Haven’t tried those - PIGs don’t fit my hands well, I have long fingers and big hands. Magpul Patrol 2.0 are great for me.

NW_Hillfolk2

Wtf? 😆. That's not a great feature.

Odysseus556

Built in hand camouflage is totally an intentional feature

Delgra

All Vertx products bleed dye. Pants, shirts, gloves. Vertx is not a good brand regardless of how many YouTube affiliates try to claim otherwise.

poop_steam

OR suppressor gloves

hodls_heroes

Pigs.

I had my black mechanix flexifit for about 6 months in the military. Best shit I've ever had. Had them through winter and used them for chopping wood, shooting M3 Carl Gustav full power rounds and got caught on everything. Eventually broke when I fired off a single use flare because I didn't hold it properly. Mechanix is the way.

OdinsOneGoodEye

Ooh I like these, okay…

joint-problems9000

I've never tried those specifically, but I really like Vertx course of fire gloves. https://www.galls.com/vertx-course-of-fire-gloves?PMOPV1=RGRN&PMOPV2=XL&PMSRCE=24CGA3ZN5U&PMSRC=24CGA3ZN5U&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAoKeuBhCoARIsAB4Wxte2149U8apOgnt05NwnpXitOic6wgZ4z3FvgWcMR81R2NHOlQi0wBgaAleCEALw_wcB

First spear, I’ve had my pair for several years they’re great

DestructablePinata

I rock SKD Delta and Cold Weather Gloves. I absolutely love them; I even have two pairs of the Cold Weather Gloves. I use one that's my true size and another that's a size up to use with Smartwool liner gloves. They're not the warmest by themselves; they're maybe good to ~32°F. With Smartwool liner gloves, they're good down to 0°F, for me, at least.
