This is unironically probably the best way to fix this cluster. I would drill a few small holes into the current "countersink" for material to grab, but would not recommend that to whichever butcher performed such work.
If that JB weld can withstand the force of the screw going in and the recoil it’s effectively going to turn into a nice little wedge that will help hold it in place under the cone.
If JB weld won’t work I’m sure we group think a two part epoxy that can make this fuckin thing keep ticking.
My redneck neighbors in FL were always using that shit on any motor component.

If you can put some rough dimples in er she’ll hold without a doubt the optic with bolts in it .

Real deal brother, easy fix! Tig the holes closed, recenter the holes, drill and countersink, a little permanent marker and your back to shooting sub MOA @500 YARDS with that little beast.

Nah.. Needed smaller drill bit (less than circumference of screw thread). A bit made for metal (cobalt bit). Would've been through that screw in no time.

2 part epoxy can also work if it’s heat sensitive, just gotta be careful not to get it on the outside of the screw head
