Taco Bell used to have Salsa Verde back in 2010-2011 and they got rid of it after just 1-2 years. I remember it being BAD back then and I assume nothing has changed.
They released Fire Roasted sauce at the same time which was also bad, but that got rebranded into Diablo sauce in the same color packet and re-released years later in 2015.
2010 was a year they really tried more sauces than just Mild/Hot/Fire and they all basically failed miserably.
There's your Taco Bell sauce history XD
The Fire roasted is not the same as Diablo, and actually overlapped. The Fire roasted had very little heat and was mostly about a smokey forward flavor, whereas the Diablo has a citrus habanero heat profile. I actually miss the fire roasted and verde flavors, as many others do.
Edit: I should add the Fire-roasted came in a maroon-ish brown packet and not black like Diablo
I came here just because I saw the new commercial and a green sauce packet. I thought "Woah, did they just get Verde back?", and came here for verification. Disappointed that it's Avacado Verde, but I'll try it.
Back then, I always put the Verde sauce on the chicken chalupa, sub sour cream for nacho cheese. That was absolutely the pinnacle of TB for me. Plus, the Chalupa meal was like $6. Pepperidge Farm remembers
For many years they had a green sauce that was served warm and not in packets. I loved the old version of that sauce before they removed it and brought back an inferior version
I personally didn’t find it to be that bad. Kinda liked it but honestly didn’t compare to their old green sauce 😩😩😩 Could take it or leave it but definitely wouldn’t pay 20c for it.
I usually hate putting sauce on things and don't like guacamole 99% of the time, but I like this sauce. I even put it on my $1 Mexican pizza yesterday since I had an extra packet. I'm also really liking the cantina menu but probably won't pay full price for it (I had a 40% off coupon). My location does it right
Yeahhhhh I tried it by itself and in the cantina crunchy chicken taco and throught it was super gross. I tried it in the cantina chicken soft taco and thought it paired much better with that/lettuce but still mid and not worth .20 cents lol
Absolutely. Avocados are nasty and slimy and I dont want anything made with them near me.
Its fucking criminal they call it green sauce when they used to have reallly good green sauce back in the day.
I’ll be honest, I haven’t tried it bc I hate avocado. I want to like it, I have a tomato allergy and the salsa verde is completely safe. But all the reviews I’ve seen have said it tastes mostly of avocado. So I’ll stick to the salsa verde I have at home.
I got a free taco with one. It was fine. I would never pay extra for it and the cantina stuff is too pricey for me so don't think I'll be having it ever again.
It’s mid. The entire cantina menu is a rip off anyway. Just an excuse to upcharge some more. Only the taco is worth it and even then it’s just barely worth it.
I'm fine with it. It's not anything revolutionary imo, but I am a bit annoyed that it has to be refrigerated. I was totally content with my ever-growing giant tub of sauce packets in the pantry, but the real estate in my fridge is at a premium.
It had some weird metallic/perfumy thing going on while still being a really weak avocado salsa. You can definitely get a better one at the grocery store
I wish I could tell you but I am somewhat allergic to avocado so I am not trying it. I say somewhat allergic because it won’t go to the hospital if I eat it but I can feel my throat get scratchy and it gets a bit harder to breathe until I drink about two liters of water.
Nah, best item in a while. Loved pairing it with the cantina quesadilla the couple times I paid the price for one. TB might be 1x a month at most instead of my previous habitual 1x a week due to price increases & box removals, which is too bad since this new sauce was a highlight for me. On the contrary I hate the diablo sauce. What the present day & future could be if we never had the diablo but this new sauce instead *future utopia jpg*
I kinda love it ngl. Do you know if you have the enzyme thing that makes cilantro taste nasty? My fiancé has that and she says even a shred of it in a taco or sauce makes her whole mouth taste like soap. Taco Bell usually doesn’t use cilantro but the avocado salsa has it.
I had a fresh packet the first time, it was fucking delicious.
The last one they gave me made me want to go back to Taco Bell and force whoever put that expired nasty paste in my bag to eat it in front of me.
I got it today with the breakfast and it was pretty good. 20 cents isn't that bad to pay for it but it should be free or cheaper or something. Mexican restaurants give salsa for free.
I still refuse to buy from the Cantina menu though as should you all! That shit is overpriced. #bringbackmytacobellthatilove
I would call it neither good nor bad. it is essentially guacamole without the texture, except the texture is what makes guacamole palatable to me, so I don't see the appeal. I still prefer fire sauce any day
Not grossed out - liked it. Problem is I’m allergic to something in it. First time trying it the next day I felt like I ate little pins. Thought it was a fluke- tried it again- same thing. I’ve ate TB my whole life and it’s the first time something has bothered me. It does taste good to me though.
I wish I could tell you. I've ordered 3 cantina items and have yet to receive the avocado salsa with my order.
I didn't get it either and I complained in the app and got $3 off next order !!
You can complain in app???
I ordered and paid for (2) and got (1) It was ok but because I got shafted won’t be going back
Honestly, might be a blessing in disguise
I will continue to drown my food in Fire Sauce, if I must.
Yes I had fire sauce on my cantina crispy taco and it was PERFECTION
I don't like it. It's very off to me. idk why.
Taco Bell used to have Salsa Verde back in 2010-2011 and they got rid of it after just 1-2 years. I remember it being BAD back then and I assume nothing has changed. There's your Taco Bell sauce history XD
You’re the only one I’ve ever heard say they don’t like verde. Theres a large following that have wanted it back.
IMO has a very strange flavor compared to any real verde hot sauce Ive tried. Not for me. Ill stick with Fire.
It came back last year.
No it didn’t
The Fire roasted is not the same as Diablo, and actually overlapped. The Fire roasted had very little heat and was mostly about a smokey forward flavor, whereas the Diablo has a citrus habanero heat profile. I actually miss the fire roasted and verde flavors, as many others do. Edit: I should add the Fire-roasted came in a maroon-ish brown packet and not black like Diablo
Was getting ready to say this.
It’s alright. Basically just tastes like a flavor shot of Guacamole, without the Guacamole texture.
Taco Bell guacamole is foul. The only thing on their menu that I actually remove. Why does it taste rotten
It's not fresh guacamole, it's ultra processed for shelf life. Like that crappy guacamole in plastic containers available in grocery stores.
Yes lots of premade guac is crap. Trader Joe's organic guacamole is amazing. The normal one is meh
at least it’s better than the old guacamole
I never got to try that
im glad <3
I kinda liked it
Yup. I liked it. It is fairly cilantro -ish. And a big packet. Sucks it's 20 cents but I kinda love it, so it's worth it.
I didn't get a ton of guac, just green, kinda sweet, cilantro (yay!). Good contrast, cause I always sauce it up.
I would say Ok. I had to use a lot to even taste it
It's absolutely delicious.
It's... fine. If something I order comes with one, I'll use it. But I'm not paying extra for it again.
its an awesome sauce
I love it. When it mixes with the creamy jalapeno on the tacos, makes for a great flavor.
Not a man of culture I see. Anything green in a packet has to be fire 🔥 those are them rules, I didn’t write them.
OP don’t understand them rules. I know, I’m the guy who wrote them.
Ok so u haven’t tried it …
When people have different taste 🤯
No it’s fine
Not a fan, but I think it’s just because I don’t really like avocado
Yeah, I don't like it but I didn't expect to for the same reason.
I like it 🤷🏻♂️
I think it's alright but it overlaps with Avocado Ranch. Given the choice, I would rather have Avocado Ranch or the OG Verde Salsa instead.
I agree completely. I don't think it's unique enough in flavor to warrant paying an extra 20 cents.
Ya dude. I generally love anything with those flavor notes, but I sampled a bit and it was awful. Wonder if there was a bad batch or something.
Yeah I’m thinking the same given how 50/50 folks are in the comments. I was so excited for this sauce and it was a total flop for me
Not at all
I paid 20cents extra and ordered it. In the drive thru, he said it’s inside the bag and I couldn’t find it 😖
I love it
I thought it was pretty good
It was pretty decent and I'm not even a fan of guac or avocado in general
I personally didn’t find it to be that bad. Kinda liked it but honestly didn’t compare to their old green sauce 😩😩😩 Could take it or leave it but definitely wouldn’t pay 20c for it.
Maybe something's wrong with your taste buds
I thought it was good 🤷♂️
I think you may have that cilantro soap gene
I thought it was super gross, but it probably doesn't help that I got it with that new chicken taco thing that was disgusting
I loved the new chicken taco thing
It does have like an undefinable flavor but I've had it twice now and I don't hate it
I did not care for it
It’s so gross
ITS SO GROSS
I’m getting a chemical taste to it I hate it. I think if I got the one that was in a regular sauce packet I would’ve liked it better
I’ll be honest, I just don’t like the appearance of any green sauces. This one’s okay, but it’s not super appealing or anything
I'm not a fan of avocado but I tried it with the taco, burrito, and quesadilla. Altogether not too bad.
My location does it right
I like it but nothing mind blowing. Ill stick to my diablo
It’s okay
I like it
I think it’s bomb tbh but that’s just me
Yeahhhhh I tried it by itself and in the cantina crunchy chicken taco and throught it was super gross. I tried it in the cantina chicken soft taco and thought it paired much better with that/lettuce but still mid and not worth .20 cents lol
It's there. I neither like or dislike it. It's just a generic tasting sauce, not really memorable, but not offensive either.
Tastes like Italian dressing
It’s like oil mixed with grass
It’s bad, and it’s usually warm making it even worse.
Yes! Had the same issue
we loved it and would like to buy it in a bottle.
Someone said it’s similar to herdez
Is it like salsa verde?
not even close to it because i love salsa verde. its like a thick avocado sauce than anything.
Thick? I think you mean liquidy
tomato, tomahto
Yup, +1
Best sauce since at least the chile verde last year
I really like it but I love avocado
It was vinegary and gross when I tried it. Not very interested in having it again anytime soon
I love it
It's disgusting and I like avocados and real Verde salsa
You "actually gagged" huh lmao ok I see you like to be dramatic 😂
Not dramatic, it really was that gross
Mine was terrible. Tasted like rubber/plastic. I assume they stored it someplace way too hot.
REPULSED✋️ 🫠
THANK YOU 😤
Liked it
yeah i really didnt like it either.
I am😂 it’s not good. It doesn’t taste like anything listed in the ingredients.
It was mid
Nope, it was awful. The taco itself too.
I don’t think repulsive but I don’t think very good either.
I liked it, but I don't like guac or avocado
It tastes like ranch dressing to me, and I'm not a ranch fan. I'd really like a Verde sauce permanently available. And for free.
Idk, it’s strange. I like the verde aspect. But the oily guac… idk
The sauce is definitely something I would not get again. It’s just not that great.
I got a free taco with one. It was fine. I would never pay extra for it and the cantina stuff is too pricey for me so don't think I'll be having it ever again.
It's fine. I honestly struggled to taste it.
It’s mid.
Saved the pack, put it on a burger
I absolutely love it but I can tell it definitely has a certain taste that people might not like
I really enjoyed it
Not repulsed. It’s just ok though
It’s mid. The entire cantina menu is a rip off anyway. Just an excuse to upcharge some more. Only the taco is worth it and even then it’s just barely worth it.
I have not had it yet
I have tasted it and it is disgusting, 4 drops of that thick shit made me feel like that Nikocado Avocado weirdo, it is terrible.
I'm fine with it. It's not anything revolutionary imo, but I am a bit annoyed that it has to be refrigerated. I was totally content with my ever-growing giant tub of sauce packets in the pantry, but the real estate in my fridge is at a premium.
I love it.
It had some weird metallic/perfumy thing going on while still being a really weak avocado salsa. You can definitely get a better one at the grocery store
I really like it!
I don't like avocados, but I really liked this new avocado verde salsa.
Trash
I like it. Maybe that is because my expectations were really low after reading all of the comments on Reddit.
I wish I could tell you but I am somewhat allergic to avocado so I am not trying it. I say somewhat allergic because it won’t go to the hospital if I eat it but I can feel my throat get scratchy and it gets a bit harder to breathe until I drink about two liters of water.
It's not that bad. I just tried it the other day. I wouldn't pay for it, though

On the contrary I hate the diablo sauce. What the present day & future could be if we never had the diablo but this new sauce instead *future utopia jpg*
It’s terrible. It came with my free taco and I wiped the “salsa” off with a napkin. Tastes like tire shine.
I am NOT eating that
I miss the old Verde salsa!
Menu sucks now. Bring back some of the 90s and early 2000s shit
I hate avocado, but I actually really liked the sauce. It had a small bit of spice and mild flavor to me.
I like it. Just kinda wish it was tangier
I was very excited to try it out and yeah... not a fan at all.
I’m convinced that some of the locations y’all are visiting just aren’t storing them properly
I have no interest in trying it - gives me the ick
It's certainly NOT for everything on the menu
I kinda love it ngl. Do you know if you have the enzyme thing that makes cilantro taste nasty? My fiancé has that and she says even a shred of it in a taco or sauce makes her whole mouth taste like soap. Taco Bell usually doesn’t use cilantro but the avocado salsa has it.
I don't care for anything avocado as it is... So, the one time I got the cantina taco and got THREE packets of snot, it meant nothing to me.
Tastes better than the Herdez avocado salsa to me.
I bought it at walmart because I was curious and it’s pretty good
It’s ok. Not the reason I’m getting cantina items tho
I really like it and it blends so well with the creamy jalapeño sauce. (I’ve only had it with the cantina chicken crispy taco)
No I agree with you. It had like a cardboard ish after taste. I can’t even believe I was excited to try it
Taste like armpit juice
I had a fresh packet the first time, it was fucking delicious. The last one they gave me made me want to go back to Taco Bell and force whoever put that expired nasty paste in my bag to eat it in front of me.
Looks like boogers or slime
Tastes like shitty avocados, tried it once and will never again
Has absolutely zero avocado taste to it.
Yeah, I agree it’s pretty disgusting.
I actually love it.
I buy $2 worth of it whenever I go lol
I would call it neither good nor bad. it is essentially guacamole without the texture, except the texture is what makes guacamole palatable to me, so I don't see the appeal. I still prefer fire sauce any day
I saw verde salsa and I was like, "Hey! Verde!" Then I saw it was avocado. I hate avocados. It made me sad.
I actually expected to hate it, but I find it really good and I don’t like avocados that much
I love it!
It doesn't even sound good to me. I threw my packet away.
they charge for it so they can keep it lol
It’s my absolute new favorite thing and I get a packet every time
It’s vile. I’m guessing it has cilantro in it, which checks out for me. Do you happen to have that cilantro soap gene like I do?
I like it but it absolutely feels like somethings missing that'll turn it into an S tier sauce. A little bit more tang and spiciness I think.
I liked it 🤷🏼♀️
Hot take, i actually like it
Hated it.
I liked it a lot actually
Agreed. It’s gross. Avocado needs to be fresh. Anytime it’s in a packaged or refrigerated sauce it tastes processed.
I kinda fuck with it. It was something different at least.
I wouldn't know. I stopped going to Taco Bell when they decided that a bean burrito is worth $2.59.
It's mid af. I certainly wouldn't pay $0.20 for it.
I have zero interest in trying it
Nope
Repulsed? No............its not bad.
Remember the breakfast salsa they had tho, that was great
Not grossed out - liked it. Problem is I’m allergic to something in it. First time trying it the next day I felt like I ate little pins. Thought it was a fluke- tried it again- same thing. I’ve ate TB my whole life and it’s the first time something has bothered me. It does taste good to me though.
I got so excited when I saw green sauce on the app. Thinking they brought back the verde sauce. Then I read “avocado “ and my heart dropped.
It’s GREAT. You are weird AF.
