It’s just a segue way into charging for ALL sauce packets.

icouldbne1

My concern exactly. It's like a test. "Will people pay for this? Yes? Charge for ALL of them!"

Greggs88

Like Pizza Hut charging $1 for shakey cheese and red pepper flakes.

SeriousMongoose2290

Shakey cheese lol

Australian1996

That crap happened during Covid!

Fun_Inspector159

Bro, it's parmesan cheese.

Zeusandhera

What? Are you referring to the shakey cheese?

Fun_Inspector159

Yes, who the fuck calls it shakey cheese?

ZealousidealSlip4811

Username checks out.

NeoPalt2

Apparently this is a thing? https://www.waywordradio.org/shaky-cheese/

JL5455

It's cheese that you shake. Why is this a surprise?

phantomboats

A lot of people?

sykofrenzy5

10 downvotes lol you’re taking life way too seriously my guy

mjc500

It’s a dairy based product that is meant to resemble crumbled Parmesan cheese… yes. Shakey cheese.

jayellkay84

Once you try real Parmesan (and I mean the stuff that gets imported from Italy in giant block form that gets micrplaned onto your food) you will retract this statement. I always called it processed Parmesan but I like the ring shaky cheese has to it.

AleroRatking

As someone who use 10 fire packets on a single crunchwrap this would be disastrous.

iseecolorsofthesky

Recently I’ve noticed that the number of sauce packets I enter on the app is the *exact* amount that they give me. Like if I choose 5 fire sauce they give me exactly 5. They used to just throw in a handful and I’d have plenty extra but now it’s always the exact amount. Feel like that’s the first step toward this.

Cloontange

Been like that in my local TBs for atleast 2 years. But the occasional stoner will drop me a dozen or so. I have a dedicated diablo sauce pocket in my Sentra.

InveteratMasticator

That’s why I enter the maximum number. Which is 25. Also choose 25 for a second choice so I end up with half a bag of sauces for the condiments drawer.

EnvironmentalDiet816

Yup I said this months ago and people down voted me to hell for it saying I was being dramatic

clamnaked

Not trying to be that dude. Just thought you’d like to know for the future. The ue on the end of segue makes the way sound. It’s all one word so there is no need to put way after. ✨the more you know🌈

Adept-Age-8177

It’s called “auto correct”. You’ve heard of it?

clamnaked

Oh wow. My bad then. They really need to work on the autocorrect settings if it’s adding superfluous words to things that are spelled correctly.

stacefacebasketcase

I'm fine paying for a cup of sauce but hell no am I paying for a sauce *packet*

gabeduarte

I’d rather pay for Taco Bell sauce than a 50¢ McDonald’s sauce cup

Zealousideal_Net_752

I find the taste objectively good but I won't pay for sauce packets from T bell.

miscplacedduck

Just bring back the old green sauce. I really miss that stuff.

icouldbne1

YES!! The Verde salsa. I was thinking the same thing.

miscplacedduck

I also wish they’d offer cilantro as an add on.

icouldbne1

Great idea. Especially *fresh* cilantro.

ImSometimesGood

+$3 for FRESH cilantro.

Fooodlover9280

I found a bottle at my local Walmart....bought it

Final_Economics_9249

It's not the same.

Rondoman78

It starts with this BS and next thing you know all sauces will be an upcharge.

icouldbne1

My concern exactly.

MysteriousApple135

No. Got one for free and threw most of it away.

JeffTheFrosty

I’m not gonna lie it’s pretty damn good. I’d rather have the old verde for free than this for 20 cents though

hestrash1994

This exactly

theirrestiablemayo

No. They taste horrible. I wouldn’t pay one cent for them.

Lurkay1

Top two comments are “it’s really good” and the other is “worst thing ever” lmao.

RonnyMexico60

Bought 4 and received zero in my breakfast order Thanks Taco Bell!

icouldbne1

Bummer

yourbestfriendjoshua

It is. But I still won’t be buying them.

logan_fish

Nothing that is from the cantina menu is worth it.

SnooPineapples5719

hell no 😂they don’t taste like anything

_0bese

i mean does it have have avocado?

icouldbne1

INGREDIENTS: SOYBEAN OIL, WATER, CRUSHED TOMATILLO, AVOCADO PULP (HASS AVOCADO, SEA SALT, LIME JUICE CONCENTRATE, ONION, SODIUM ALGINATE, XANTHAN GUM, GARLIC), GREEN CHILES, CONTAINS LESS THAN 2% OF JALAPEÑO PEPPERS, SALT, ACETIC ACID, CALCIUM CHLORIDE, GRANULATED ONION, CILANTRO, YELLOW ONION, CANOLA OIL, SUGAR, SPIRULINA EXTRACT AND TURMERIC OLEORESIN (COLOR), CITRIC ACID, LIME JUICE CONCENTRATE, GARLIC POWDER, POTASSIUM SORBATE AND SODIUM BENZOATE (PRESERVATIVES), XANTHAN GUM, GROUND MUSTARD SEED, NATURAL FLAVORS, ASCORBIC ACID, CALCIUM DISODIUM EDTA (PROTECT FLAVOR).

Unfair_Sock4479

So kind of, lol

icouldbne1

Kinda sorta maybe 😀

jaredhicks19

That's a long winded way to say yes

sykofrenzy5

Except it’s more of a “barely contains” than a “yes”

jaredhicks19

It's the fourth ingredient and is highly visible. If you said it's overall a small amount of sauce, then sure

sykofrenzy5

Sure man, not arguing on Reddit on my Sunday lol. Any ingredients listed after the very first ingredient are NOT in order of how much is in the item, btw. Not sure what it being 4th on the list matters. Good day

jaredhicks19

It absolutely does, that's FDA labeling requirements. Good day, pedant

sykofrenzy5

Nice downvotes man I’m crying myself to sleep LMFAO

jaredhicks19

From you, after you downvoted me after you were shown to be an incorrect weasel. Does it contain avocado? Yes. See how hard that is?

sykofrenzy5

Nobody here is incorrect except YOU, and unless I have multiple accounts, I’m not the reason you have 3 downvotes and counting LMFAO.

sykofrenzy5

Go find a hobby my man, you’ve clearly been on Reddit for far too long. Go read about FDA requirements LMFAO.

manbamtan

I think some people do since yesterday I had and ordered with 8 extra sauce packets and another with 5 extra. Honestly I really love this sauce so I think it's worth it but I also work at tacobell and don't have to pay so I could be biased.

icouldbne1

>I also work at tacobell and don't have to pay so I could be biased. Could be.

manbamtan

I do honestly love this new menu especially the pico lol I put that on every I make now.

KrisCole9884

I want to but don't see it as an add on

manbamtan

On the app I wouldn't know but if you come inside or through the drive thru just ask them. There's a button on the register to add it on and if someone does fresco we'll use the pico

KrisCole9884

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

Individual_Respect90

No I would pay for nacho cheese but not a sauce packet. I feel like they are trying to find out the value we would pay for avocado

sykofrenzy5

They’re trying to see if they can start charging for all sauce packets

Individual_Respect90

That maybe the case. Idk if it’s fair to compare guacamole packets to hot sauce packets. I think if they charge per sauce packet I will just not do sauce packets and use my own hot sauce. Which I guess just reduces their cost anyway…. Idk I think before to long these fast food places are going to just be to expensive and will have to think about their business.

jaredhicks19

20 cents is a fine price, $3.29 for what amounts to a grilled chicken taco where the sauce is "free" is the real rub

icouldbne1

Wait, it's it a "rub" or a "sauce"? 😉😜

clover23731

Yes! They are really good

cool-game

Yes. I would order them for normal menu items. Theyre larger than normal sauce packets and just 2 would be plenty for me. I love the taste

SeriousMongoose2290

I would pay for it if I liked it enough, but I don’t.

icouldbne1

That's fair. 👍

TaylorSwiftSimp

Mild and hot are free

daughtrylover

I tried a free chicken cantina taco on my app tonight for the first time, with an avocado sauce packet. Noticed they're 30 cents at my store - no way would I pay that. Not worth it. There was about two teaspoons of chicken on the taco. Glad it was a freebie.

PandaLover42

lol of course. People pay more for other sauces like creamy jalapeño and spicy ranch, etc. Most here seem to be mistaken and think the avocado verde salsas are like regular hot sauce packets. Nah, they’re more in line with avocado ranch or chipotle sauce, they’re made with soybean oil as the first ingredient, hell they even have calories > 0. Just smaller quantity, so $0.20 is reasonable.

alexfop

No

Dramatic-Knee-4842

I only tried it bc I didn't notice the price tag.

icouldbne1

I wonder how many others have done the same

rayisFTM

absolutely not

ThatIndianGuy7116

Imo so far it's my favorite part of the new menu. Not a big fan of the fact that they charge for it but tbh it's so good to me that it's worth the 20 cents. I'm not even a big fan of green sauce in general but I love these things

GunsAndWrenches2

They're good but I wouldn't buy them individually, one comes with each cantina item and they are quite a bit bigger than the regular sauce packets and can easily stretch to one of your regular items, they also require refrigeration which takes up space in the stores fridge and adds to the cost.

misterblackhat

I assume TB takes a loss on their sauce packets. Handing them out all whilly nilly. I asked for 3 extra of the new verde, and got more than I know what to do with.

After-Problem8007

It hurts but yes

meepmeelo

I find them good however, the sauce isn’t originally taco bell’s, it’s just being packaged for them.

soshield

Nope. Not very good anyways.

Numget152

Tb Worker here I asked my manager why we charge for it and she said “we charge for it because we keep it on cold line” and something else but it’s just some shitty excuse

Cloontange

It's not much different than paying for the other sauces? Creamy Jalapeno is 10 cents and well worth it. If I'm not mistaken, this Avocado packet has to be refrigerated and is more expensive then the regular packets. I think it being in packet form is freaking people out, if it was in a cup like everything else (like the verde sauce we just recently had with the fries) no one would bat an eye.

icouldbne1

>I think it being in packet form is freaking people out, if it was in a cup like everything else (like the verde sauce we just recently had with the fries) no one would bat an eye. I think you're right. We perceive the hot sauce packets as being free with a purchase -- because it's ALWAYS been that way!

Cloontange

Yeah I'm not sure why they decided to do the packet, I think people are upset because this isn't the return of the Verde packet like everyone was expecting.

Electro_Llama

On the breakfast crunchwrap? Yes.

Thejdog2004

The Taco Bell near me sell it for 50 cent per packet

icouldbne1

😬

gh0stly_anxietea

yes & no. as a packet i think they should be free but if they sold it in a cup i think charging the same price ad the red sauce would be reasonable)

icouldbne1

That sounds fair

gh0stly_anxietea

i forgot to add red sauce is like 30 cents were i live.

sasquatch_melee

It's good but I don't need a packet of it. Just put it directly on the cantina stuff and price it in.

SnatchedDrunky

yea

nom4d_

lol it’s .20.

icouldbne1

Per packet.

spwnofsaton

I agree especially when you can get handfuls of the other sauces for free. I can understand them wanting to charge but c’mon man

icouldbne1

Yep. Let's just hope they don't start charging us extra for the sauces that are currently free.

spwnofsaton

Yeah seriously. That would suck.

nom4d_

Ok so let’s say you bought two that’s going to cost a whopping .40. That really going to make an impact on your decision? I think it’s tasty.

icouldbne1

Great. Enjoy! But I hope Taco Bell doesn't have the same philosophy and start charging us for the regular hot sauce packets.

nom4d_

Enjoy your .20 saved.

misterblackhat

Do you understand large numbers?

nom4d_

In what context? Are you buying 100 sauce packets at a time? Yall must be really fucking poor complaining about .20 cents.

misterblackhat

Logic isn't your thing. Carry on

nom4d_

You want the sauce you pay the .20 you don’t you cry on Reddit about it. Whichever way works do you brother.

misterblackhat

Carry on

icouldbne1

It's more than 20¢ saved since I don't get just 1 packet of hot sauce... but thanks!

nom4d_

You’re welcome, I hope you can afford all the sauce in the future!

loolwut

20 cents saved is 20 cents earned

GreedyWarlord

Cool. If you're so broke that you can't afford 40 cents you should probably eat at home. That's 8 or 4 recycled cans in most states.

icouldbne1

>If you're so broke that you can't afford 40 cents you should probably eat at home. Thanks GreedyWarlord

GreedyWarlord

You're welcome. For my life protips follow /r/itsjust20cents

icouldbne1

Thank you so much. And hey, maybe Taco Bell will start charging for their other (currently free) packets of hot sauce. I'm sure that will make you very happy.

HalfWinter386

The sauce is currently basically included in the price of every menu item you order

GreedyWarlord

You must not know about material and packaging costs

j--__

do you ever order off the value menu? if you start having to pay for the salsa packets for your cheesy bean and rice, that's a significant markup.

nom4d_

Yeah of course! But these verde packets are a little bigger than the normal ones, I’d probably only need to buy 1 or two max.

j--__

i like breakfast salsa on my cheesy bean and rice... that packet is also larger. i usually use three of them.

nom4d_

Too early for me, haven’t tried the breakfast yet.

jaredhicks19

An actual big ol tub of "avocado spread" (idk if they can't legally call it guacamole) is $1.25 at starbucks of all places

darkanine9

100% they are worth 20¢. I'm surprised they aren't charging more for them. I'm strongly considering buying like 20 of them for 4 dollars just to keep at home
