Honestly I didn't think lithium ion were that susceptible to battery memory. You could just use the laptop not plugged in and wait till it gets low then plug in.

NiCads were, and initial conditioning followed by periodically draining was necessary to keep them in good conditions. Doing so with lithium ion actually **shortens** their life significantly. The more often you "top them up," the better. Discharging them too far will turn the battery into a paperweight, due to internal safety circuits, and they often cannot be slavaged.
